One of the most painful experiences of a Catholic parent is to watch your children grow lukewarm in the Faith or walk away from it entirely. It can lead to feelings of abandonment and despair and turn conversations that were once easygoing into painful occasions of testiness and discord. In this riveting book, EWTN Radio personalities Jerry Usher and Debbie Georgianni present deeply moving stories from listeners whose loved ones have left the Catholic Church. They are stories of heartache and sacrifice, but also hope and redemption. You'll discover how families have coped successfully and unsuccessfully with the fallen-away loved ones, prayed for their return, and worked with the grace of God to reach out and touch their hearts. You ll learn how they placed their fears and anxieties at the foot of the Cross and implored God with constancy, deep compassion, and unwavering fervor. Almost every Catholic today knows someone who has wavered or fallen away from the Faith. These pages will show you how others have successfully dealt with this age-old but rapidly accelerating problem, and why you should never lose hope.
Church book club item. I read it all. Helps me realize I truly am a “Cafeteria Catholic.” My first 20 years raised in the Methodist Church continue to mold my beliefs, and I accept that. These stories are all about how all those not devoutly practicing the Catholic faith are lost. The Holy Spirit moves throughout the world, in those of many different religions or lack of organized religion. Jesus is my savior and Mary is my Mother, that I know for sure.
This very short book is a compilation of stories of people whose loved ones have left the faith for all different reasons and situations. The stories are interesting and may give hope for those who are praying for loved ones .
An easy, uplifting book that is a collection of stories that have faced significant struggles in their life (spiritual or otherwise), and how looking back, they see how God was moving in their life. We all struggle at times in our live - be that challenges at work, child raising, issues with your spouse, etc. But, God is there through it all - we need to pray and trust that things will work out.
This was a fast read about families, parents in particular, praying for their children who have left the church. It was a real look into the lives of those who care so deeply for their loved ones. Some stories the individual returned; some did not. All are an example of the power of prayer and accompaniment.
