To save my ex, I'll have to return to the place we began. But I fear my new love might not be willing to stick around when I do.

Nia Rivers spent her immortal life-what she can remember of it-uncovering and recording the horrors of the past to prevent the genocide of humans. Now, she'll have to unearth her own beginning to prevent someone else's end. Zane may have ended their relationship, but Nia's not willing to let him die, even if her fledgling relationship with Tres may suffer because of it.

Digging up clues to the fabled garden where the immortals began is no easy task, but Nia follows the clues into the rainforests of Central America. In the heart of the modern Mayan world, she reunites with the Balam, jaguar shifters whose ancestry may hold the key to getting into the underworld of the gods.

With the Balam queens at her side, Nia journeys through the midwest of Native American tribal lands where the doorway to her ancestral home may lie just below the surface of the Serpent Mound. There the Mohegan, the wolf shifters of the north, are not the only ones who stand in her way.

Tres is losing his patience with her quest to save Zane. And someone is destroying the ancient mounds and blocking her path to the underworld. As time runs out, Nia must find a way into the underworld or another of her kind will die.

And this time, that person could be her...

Get this hot urban fantasy featuring spine-tingling adventure, twists on historical mysteries, and thrilling romance, where Tomb Raider meets Indiana Jones-and they live forever!

Another great installation in the Nia Rivers series! Serpent Mound is a little slower paced than the other 3 books, in my opinion, and doesn't have as much action or adventure in it; however, what it does have is much more details into Nia's personal history than any of the other books have given. I love all of the myths, legends and history Jasmine Walt puts into this series.

*voluntarily and honestly reviewed the ARC I received from the author*

I go between a 3 and 4 stars with this one.

Everything I wanted to finally hear about with Nia's past was in this, but a lot of it dealt with history lessons that I personally struggled to follow only because there was so much, and it really isn't my thing. This series is actually one of my fast favorites because it makes me like history; my worst subject in school. Knowing this, I'd still recommend it to those who have been following Dr. Rivers. Not a lot happens as far as interactions with others. We do see a few new faces but compared to how the other books revolved around conversations and a bunch of dialogue with others, this one felt more like the big development. You go from not knowing anything to getting all of it at once. It may work for others...

Another thing that resulted in the rating I gave it despite how much I like this series was the romance in here. This book isn't tagged as romance, but Nia's been dealing with her relationships between the two guys for a while now, and I couldn't get behind her because she either seemed really flip-floppy or I was just getting a lot of the relationship drama without getting all the good perks that come with it. A bit draining, and at times irritating, but overall, I could seriously appreciate where the series is heading.

Don’t care for serpents, but very interesting reading. Getting to meet the Queens and the different sets of twins; jealousy, infighting, dominance and of course romance from a lot of different sides, with a dash of American Indian throw in for good measure. A lot of character building details.

I am about to faint or suffer a heart attack... and that really does not happen often.
Nia is on a quest to solve the greatest mystery ever - the story of Eden, conception, and the origins of immortals. Retracing her own steps throughout the past, she researches every available source to dig up the truth, and actually comes to a very interesting conclusions. However, a successful closure of her mission is truly a grand ambition, and calling her quest complicated, or even impossible, is not strong enough. The reality is simply an absolute chaos, and when her efforts are constantly marred, she is becoming desperate... and more determined than ever.
My heart is still racing, although I finished this book some time prior. This was probably the most intense book I have read over past several years, definitely the top one since I started reviewing. When I thought this series couldn´t get any better, the authors far outdone my expectations, and I dare not place a guess how I will feel after reading the next installment. Probably prepare the first aid kit next to my reading device. You know, just in case.
The whole book was so full I can explode with impressions, memories, and emotions now. Even following only the adventurous line of the plot would be enough, but combining it with Nia´s love life... I sometimes thought this will be too much for my heart. I wanted to cry, scream, clap happily along, whatever I was feeling at the moment. Really, the emotions that shone from the pages were so strong I felt them passionately within me.
And the characters... they were so out of character now. The turbulent events of the past books shook them deeply, and they were acting like the whole world was about to collapse... only finding themselves again in the end when some problems resolved. And the relationship development... I am still shaking my head, because the outcome has never been more unclear. I just have to wait and be surprised again.
If I could give this book ten stars,I will. Or million, for that matter. Maybe with a fraction down because I love Loren´s character, and there wasn´t enough of her in this book, but I feel she will play important role in the future (or let the girl dream..).

So very good readings.

This has been a wonderful adventure for me I traveled along in the stories of the pass I even heard whispers about my savior and the wonderful things he has done while hear on earth.I read about the Gods and the Angels and their children the giants of the earth. The people of the past their intelligence the raiders who distributed their lands the building and rituals that were demolished by in ignorance and claims of discovery when there were already there that what we could learn from those who came before us.How much more intelligent we could have been learning from those who used what they had to work with.May we continue to save and preserve the land and the seas and the living things that live there in.This is the third book now I must continue to the fourth.Very good writer.

Finally...we (and Nia) get a glimpse of her missing (or repressed) memories and more answers to her history with Zane and Tres. I missed Loren but I guess we get as much Loren in this book as we got of Nia in Spear of Destiny; but even with that, it was nice to see Nia find more of herself. I enjoyed the new characters and the direction of the story (more answers than questions). I'm sad that the next book is the last but oh, how I wish it were out already. I'm Team Tres...if more so now because he finally gave her answers when everyone else always seemed to not want to tell her anything (even Zane :-\ ). I just wish there'd been more action between the two. I received an advanced reading copy in exchange for my honest review.

Yah, so Nia's been on this quest now to figure out where the 12 immortals come from. At the same time her relationships are screwing with her head and now she's having nightmares. This story gives us lots of myth and legend information as Nia jets around the world looking for the doorway to the Garden of Eden. You really have to hand it to the God-twins, when they mess with you the world can literally fall out from under you. We actually leave this story on a bit of a cliffhanger and now have to wait for the next one to find out what happened.

I received an ARC of this story and have voluntarily chosen to review it here.

Oh man! I really felt every bump and ricochet in this story.

Wonderfully written, some more great historical facts thrown into the story intertwining with the story and making some more myths and legends come to life as well as some historical events.

Mayans, panthers, twin gods and garden of eden stories galore.

A bit of NSFW scenes and for those who don't like to read about the aftermath of what happens when a great love ends and one party doesn't take it well this might be a bit to real to read.

And that ending, absolute MEGA cliffhanger so be warned.

GAH I love this series!! I really enjoy the levels of all different folds of culture and religion. And each book teaches me something new or inspires me to look into folklore from those cultures. The love triangle kills me I have my Brooding pick but I honestly just love Nia. I do hope we see Loren come back in the mix soon. But this book went on right around the same time as Spear of Destiny and worked well. OF COURSE it ends with me freaking out for book 5!

Okay

This book wasn't as good as the others. It felt like Nia was constantly complaining and in her own thoughts. I also thought there was a little too much fluff. Way too much useless background information on things that didn't really pertain to the story. Hoping the next book gets back on track and sticks to more useful info and hopefully the main character won't be so whiny this time around.

Cliffhangers suck

Finish your story. If you can’t finish it don’t make us suffer because you think that a cliffhanger is a cute ending. It isn’t. It’s annoying. I stop reading authors who continually end books with a cliffhanger. It means you don’t respect your readers or your talent enough to have faith that we will buy your next book unless you stop in the middle of the story. Have more faith in yourself and in us.

Fourth book in this series and wow. I am pulled into the story as if I’ve never left. Slowly unravelling the mystery of who they are and where they came from. As for Nia’s love life she is remembering more and more of her past with both Tres and Zane. Can’t wait for the next book to find out what will happen next.

As usual Jasmine Walt never fails to deliver a great book. I am in love with the ups and down twist and turns on the adventure that Now goes throw as she is discovering more about her past future and herself along the way. Its also fun getting to explore other characters as she peels back layer after layer. Good read go get it!

Uggggh shameless cliffhanger!!!!!

Still good, just ugh, I hate shameless cliffhangers! Better subject material, but a lack of Loren made me upset too, because Nia on her own is intolerable. Glad we didn’t have a stupid “I, gonna die for you” scene but still...WHERE IS THE NEXT BOOK

OMG! OMG! OMG! Can't wait for the last book. Nia is in so much trouble. Just as Tres makes through her defenses, she's swept right back into Zane's arms. Zane's so much more than the passionate artist. And the new shifter characters? Absolutely awesome. Can't wait to enter the garden with her in the next book. Wish it wasn't the end already!

Cliffhangers

This book surprised me. I really didn't think that the characters would fall and then the book end. I couldn't wait and started the next book right away. The magical creatures that Nia knows and interacts with are really cool and I really liked that the women were the top of the pecking order.

Twisted Hazy Mythical History

The way the author entwined legends and myths with her story is truly amazing. Although it's probably better enjoyed by a casual appreciation for the myths rather than the die hard canon believers I think its wonderful and I'm eager for the conclusion and the answer.

Amazing

I really liked this one. While emotional at times I couldn't put it down for life of me. I would totally like to see Zane, Tres and Nia stuck on her island for a bit or maybe Tres's island, electricity and all. Can't wait for next one as always.👏

Makes you grasp for the last book

What an ending! I'm a quest to find home she has to go through more than she anticipates and to avoid losing more of her family she has to find the door she has no idea where to look. It leaves you breathless grasping for the final book.
