Love scares me. Yet secretly I long for it But don’t we all.
The funny thing about life, is its habit of changing in a moment. A split second in time that completely blindsides you.
Lex is a cut-throat lawyer. Always focused and in control. There are no colors in his life. Black and white with no in between. Cold and ruthless in his work, his life is sorted, and his path is clear.
Then the unthinkable happened. One night my armor slipped. I met the real him. And I let him meet the real me.
It was wonderful.
Breathtaking
Except happy endings have a way of escaping me. And sometimes epiphanies cause heart break.
Which means for Lex to find his happiness, I may have to sacrifice mine.
Karen Deen is an international bestselling author who loves to write love stories that will stay with you long after you’ve finished. Stories filled with spice and witty banter, while being full of emotion, comedy, suspense and twists and turns that you never see coming. All the time steering her characters to their happily ever after. Everything you need in a good love story.
Writing from her picturesque hometown near Sydney, Australia, Karen is enjoying life with her childhood sweetheart husband, three adult children and their ever-growing family. And can also be found out for a sneaky lunch or coffee date with friends that involves laughter until their sides hurt.
Parts of this CR were well executed, some not so much. I jumped ahead and went backward.
Mia grew up in the foster care system and felt unloved. Her husband drank and gambled & they had 2 sweet kids under the age of 5. He: intimidated, beat her & threatened her life and the kids too. The author sensitively showed Mia's successful flight with the assist of Mia's employer. The employer kept some of Mia's wages to the side to assist in her escape.
Mia met a 2nd man who claimed to be her brother. He lived in a nice apt bldg, but soon he controlled her actions, food intake etc.
Hero attorney, Lex, had several friends he called 'framily.' Lex and friends rescued Mia from 2nd man & then proceeded to make decisions for her. Did everyone control her?
Lex and Mia slowly became amorous and sexy and F-this & F-that language. They both were mid-30s or older but acted much younger about having sex/ arranging to be alone. Must some CR couples be trendy and act young, when they should show some maturity?
4yr old Jack was the best aspect of this story. Also Mia dis- covered she had an older sister.
Ladies and Gents!!! You have got to read this book! Absolutely amazing!!! It has all the feels and emotions you could ever want in a story. The hero who didn’t know he was one, the damsel in distress who just wanted to make the right choice, the cutest kids ever created and friends who can’t stop meddling! It’s a perfect recipe for a freaking amazing book!! 100 ⭐️’s Must read this fall!!
This book was provided by the author through Give Me Books Promotions in exchange for an honest review. Thank you Karen Deen and Give Me Books Promotions!
Lovable Lawyer is a standalone Contemporary Romance about Mia and Lex.
This is already the third book I’ve read by Karen Deen and I really enjoyed it! I remember reading Private Pilot, and I loved reading the ‘other side’ of the story. I loved reading about Mason and Paige again and I loved discovering more about Mia and Lex. It was really hard to put this book down because you really want to know what is going to happen. Lovable Lawyer is such an emotional story and I’m glad that I got an ARC of this book.
I really like the main characters, Mia and Lex. From the moment I read about them, I knew that they were perfect for each other. I loved their connection and I loved that Lex understood Mia’s problems, gave her time and space, respected her boundaries, and constantly asked for her consent. Lex is just the perfect guy for Mia. I loved reading about them and their connection!
Lovable Lawyer was a well-written Romance read and I really liked it. The story and the pacing were both really good and I loved reading about the characters. I really liked reading about a few characters from Private Pilot and I hope to read about some of the other characters too. I recommend reading Lovable Lawyer if you’re looking for an emotional Contemporary Romance!
His first meeting with Mia has Lex's protective instincts flaring. But is being protected and taken care of really what Mia needs? Or is what she needs someone to just be there for her, be her rock while she stands on her own feet and lives her life as an independent woman?
Mia is on the run from an abusive situation when she meets the force that is broody Lex, lawyer who always wants the best for his clients. It would be so easy for her and her kids to completely rely on Lex and the hand he offers. But as she struggles to get on her feet, she comes to realize that though she's falling for Lex, she also needs to be her own person. Can she get Lex to see that she needs space without him thinking she's running?
And what about Lex? Will he ever stand up to his overbearing mother, live his life for himself, not for her?
Lex and Mia are a wonderful couple, I loved their story. It's emotionally substantial, entertaining with 2 lovable leads who have amazing chemistry and a soul deep connection.
Lex is a lawyer who is cold and ruthless in the courtroom, ensuring that his clients get the best representation that they deserve, but when his is with his best friends another caring side of him comes out. Mia is a single mom who has had a tough life in the foster care system, and she is on the run with her two small children from her abusive husband. When Lex and his friends help her out of a situation, he is determined to be there for her and the children. This is a beautifully written tale which is heartfelt, emotional, and filled with healing, family, friendship, and love. I was captivated throughout this addictive page turner, and I highly recommend for all readers.
I really enjoyed the series but Lex and Mia's story was just boring. I skimmed through big parts and really just to wrap up series, as I lost interest in this couple. I love dual POV but this author repeats some events from both parties and as series timelines overlaps it just becomes so repetitive.
Karen Deen is a new author to me and Loveable Lawyer was by first book that I read by her. Not knowing what to expect I went in blind with this book but I was surprised at how much I enjoyed reading this book.
Loveable Lawyer is the fourth book in a series that can be read as standalones, but I would recommend reading the previous books in the series as some of the characters do reappear in this book, although it would be absolutely fine to just read this book.
This book is a contemporary romance filled with swoon worthy moments and characters that are complex but totally loveable. This book has been written beautifully by the author and you can see the care she has taken with telling Lex and Mia’s story.
I will be heading back to the beginning of this series as I thoroughly enjoyed Loveable Lawyer. I am looking forward to reading more of this authors books.
Oh my word how I fell in love with Lex, Mia and their amazing group of friends. Be ready for all the fantastic feels in this book. Lex is a cut throat attorney that never thought love or relationships were in the cards for him. Mia is a young mom that is just trying to survive. She has a daily struggle to provide safety and security for her little ones and let me tell you she is one tough young woman. When these two meet it is just kismet. Lex begins to have feelings that he isn't sure how to process and Mia is always waiting for the other shoe to drop. This is a very emotional story that has be crying, cheering and swooning. We are also once again able to get a glimpse into the lives of all of our favorite characters from the past and watch them swoop in and surround this young family with so much love and protection. I absolutely loved their world. ~~Michele McMullen ~~
The Story of Lex and Mia was emotional and heartfelt. Lex’s world is upended when he meets Mia, a single mother of two young children who has fled from her abusive husband and found herself again in a similar situation with her new-found brother. Mia has had a tough upbring, growing up as an orphan and ending up in foster care. She has always felt like the girl who nobody wanted. When she meets Lex there is an instant connection, one that she has never felt before. When Lex begins to help Mia escape her past, he begins to have feelings he has never experienced before. His tough walls are being broken down by Mia and her adorable children and he begins to re-evaluate his life and future.
Lex and Mia together were perfect, and their chemistry was sizzling. I was so happy to be reunited with the rest of the FF boys and their partners. They were so pivotal to the story of Mia and Lex.
I was so excited to eventually read Lex’s story. He was everything I had hoped for and more!
Oh my what a beautiful book. I am so loving this series by Karen and Lex and Mia’s story was so divine. This book had me laughing out loud to tears and Lex was so awesome. The chemistry between him and Mia was so good and then throw in a couple of gorgeous kids especially Jack and some great Framily and you have a wonderful five star book. I was hooked from the start and I didn’t want it to end.
The perfect single mom romance 🥹 I knew from the sneak peak in Private Pilot that these two would be one of my favorites!! I loved this story and the way Lex was with the kids. The way he stood by her through all the tough stuff she had to overcome and his patience with her was so romantic💕
Series: there are several characters that I loved that didn’t get stories and I’m so hoping that Karen gives them a chance!!
Lovable Lawyer is a heartfelt and emotional love story. Lex and Mia’s story will grip hold of your heart and will not let go. Their story is one of family, strength and self discovery. It is about finding yourself, your heart and true love. These two have a chemistry that lights up the pages of the story and will have you feeling the heat right into your fingertips. Lex will have you swooning at his interaction with Mia’s children and how he shows them that family is not always blood. A slow paced love story with some unexpected moments that will make you smile and warm your heart.
Lex is a changed man... no longer a cutthroat lawyer he learns the true meaning of life. Having a family and people you care about more than anything. He becomes lovable. Lex was a softy! And the development of the relationship between Mia and Lex was beautiful. Fairly slow paced but great read. I would like to read more in this series of friends.
I just need to get it out that I’ve waited for Mia and Lex’s story for forever. And honestly it was worth the wait and more. Also,I think Karen Deen has ruined me for any other authors.
Oh Lex... where do I begin, we never really got to know you with the FF, but my word, are you just a big blob of emotions. I absolutely fell in love with him. Mia is so strong and she doesn’t realize it, but she soon realizes her worth and fights for what she deserves.
I literally cried so much at the end, like that’s how happy it made me. Because everyone deserves a bright star in their life.
Well I finally got to the end of the series. This book I must say drags a lot. I was so looking forward to reading Lex and Mia’s story but it wasn’t what I was expecting. I will recommend though as maybe it’s just me as this series comes highly rated.
Alexander (Lex) Jefferson, is a firecracker in the courtroom. He believes his clients should always get his best and he delivers. He works hard and when he plays it’s always with his best friends. They have been there for each other since high school. Seeing how Lex is with his clients gives us a good view of who Lex is as a man. If you need help, Lex will do his best to give you the help you need.
We first met Mia Kennedy Walker, back in Private Pilot. She is the half sister of Manson’s fiancée Ellen Paige. Having worried about Mia potentially being in trouble Mason and Paige kept their eye on her and her adorable children, four year old Jack who has a question or something to say about everything and nine month old Kayla, who luckily is a happy go luck little one. Having already talked with Lex about getting help for Mia, it isn’t a surprise that the night the Fabulous Four helped get Mia out of a bad situation Lex does what Lex does, he helps out, big time and he continues to help Mia, Jack and Kayla.
What a lovely story Karen Deen gave us for Lex, a man who might have grown up with wealth but doesn’t really fit in with that life. His friendship with Mason, Tate and Grayson has shown him that life isn’t better when handed to you on a silver platter, in fact often, it’s just a show and not a good show at that.
With the help of Paige, Mason and the rest of the framily, Lex takes the lead in working towards reaching a positive end to Mia’s legal problems and slowly comes to realize that she is the one meant for him. This couple goes through the gamut of emotions. Mia is still dealing with her nasty past as well as trying to protect her children. Adding to that she is dealing with a new sister in her life (Paige). Lex may be falling in love but Mia is more worried about her and Jack and Kayla.
Karen Deen gives us the sweetest moments with young Jack, who might be only four but you would swear sometimes he is forty. Along with those moments the reader watches two people who have both come from not so pleasant histories come of realize that maybe they can make their own tomorrows.
Lex and Mia’s story is a beautiful way to wrap up the love lives of the fabulous four who then expanded our hearts to include the ladies they love and the friends who you can always count on. The biggest thing we the reader get out of this lovely story is friends can become family, or in this case FRamily and with a loving framily you are never alone.
I received an advance reader copy of this book and have voluntarily reviewed it. All thoughts and opinions are my own. I have also ordered my own copy.
OH MY GAAAAAAAAAWD!!! Right here we have another AMAZING book by Karen Deen. I did not expect to cry as much as I did at the end of the book. Wow, I cried my freaken heart out thanks to a beautiful HEA.
I did not expect for Lex to come along and turn my world upside down the way he did. I didn't just connect to Lex; I connected to Mia as well. My heart hurt for the two of them in so many ways and I just prayed for a HEA for them both, especially the kids because they deserved so much better than Edward!
Lex, we know is our resident goody-two-shoes lawyer, and he is part of our FF! Trust me, ladies, he may seem all quiet, broody, and shy, but he is far from it! He is a beast in the courtroom and an even bigger beast in the bedroom - I should know 😉 BUT the beast is just as human as the rest of us and he has feelings. Feelings that run deep with scars that he knows will never heal. Oh my precious Lex, its always the ones with the hearts of gold.
Mia has been searching for her whole life for her missing pieces. She just wants to belong. She just wants to feel wanted, but life knows how to deal shitty cards sometimes. The only way out for her is to take her kids and run. So, she does what any mother would do to protect her kids. Only this time she ran right into the hands of a Lovable Lawyer, and he isn't going to let her go... No, he isn't going to let the three of them go. Mia comes as a package deal and he wants the whole package. How far are you willing to go for the ones you love? -I know how far Lex is willing to go...
Join the adventure that is Lex and Mia. WItness them slay their demons and overcome life and all its shitty cards. Because wishing on a star isn't just for fairytales anymore... Mia wished on hers, and Jack wished on his star for his loving mother. Lex found his star when he needed her most.
ALL GOOD THINGS COME IN THREES. GRAB A COPY AND FALL IN LOVE.
“You are beautiful inside and out and have more strength than you realize. Don’t ever forget that. You are going to do amazing things in this life, I just know it. One day you will find a nice man, and don’t let your fear of the past hold you back.”
“Money and power do not buy happiness,” I whisper to my empty office. “And love is not for sale.”
Lovable Lawyer is the last book from the f*#kalicious four. Lex and Mia’s story is heartbreakingly beautiful and was worth waiting for. Both characters are flawed and broken, but with a little polish are diamonds in the rough. Ms Deen creates well executed storyline’s, with characters who have been developed into people you can relate to. It feels like reminiscing when catching up with all of the group from previous books. Such a fun bunch, the boys have no filters and I only wish I could be included in their group chat.
Dumped by her mother and growing up in foster care, has left Mia wanting to find love. However she is living a nightmare, trying to protect her children from a drunken husband. A poor excuse for a man, who verbally and physically abuses her. With a carefully laid out plan and some help from a friend she manages to flee from him. Her life is about to change dramatically, when she finds family she didn’t know existed. Scared for the safety of her children, she keeps them close and doesn’t trust anyone. Somewhere along the way though Mia has lost herself behind the walls she erected. Before she can move on she needs to find herself again.
Lex is living his life as planned, he’s from a good family, a lawyer and doesn’t ruffle his families feathers. He is under extreme pressure in the courtroom, is broody and unwinds with his high school friends on the basketball court. Lex is lonely since his friends have settled into relationships and is questioning the path he is currently on. When he sees Mia and her children for the first time, something protective and possessive kicks in. She is like a breath of fresh air and is obviously a good mother, but she’s like a skittish pony. Lex finds himself doing things that are out of character, he is patient as he guides them into a friendship.
I raise my glass to Karen Deen for producing the finest most beautiful, tear jerking book in 2020. My emotions are all over the place. I feel like Dorothy from 'The Wizard of Oz' when she was picked by a tornado and spun round and round and when the house dropped she wasn't in Kansas anymore. Mia and Lex's story just overflows with emotion. Lex the 'take no prisons' lawyer who sees everything in black and white. Raised in house by parents that only ever saw him as a commodity - a mother that controlled not only Lex's life but his father's as well. His only escape his best friends since school who are more family to him than his own flesh and blood.
Then we have Mia, who with her two small children escape her brutal husband with a promise of a better life by her brother - who fills her head with hatred for a sister she never knew she had and then proceeds to show his true colours. Mia is braver than she thinks and when fate has her meeting her sister (some of this background is at the end of her sister Paige and Masons story)Private Pilot she finds a world of family and friend's who love her for 'me, Just little old broken me. The girl that nobody wants'.
Lex and Mia are drawn together instantly. Lex falls in love with Mia's two toddlers right away and a bond is formed. Mia has never felt as safe as she does with Lex but she needs to take things slow - to move on from her past. Lex has never felt this need to protect anyone before, it is as if from the moment that he meet Mia he knew this was right. But before the two of them can form any relationship they have to tackle and face the past. They need to heal themselves before they can be strong enough emotionally for each other.
You will fall in love with Lex and Mia they are a beautiful couple who deserve their happy ever after.
I was excited to read this book, because I enjoyed the author’s previous book, and I wanted to know more about Lex. Once again, the writing needs some work, but the characters and the story are worth a read. And you can meet again with the framily–not a typo, that’s how the little group of friends and their significant others are dubbed, and I like the word.
What I love the most about this series-that-isn’t-really-a-series is that all the books happen at about the same time, and so, from book to book, you get to see how another character feels about his friends’ building relationships. You get glimpses of the future books. Here, as it is the 4th book, we’ve already read about all the other characters, and we finally understand the hints we got before about Lex.
Aaaaah Lex. I fell for him, hard. He’s slowly getting out of an awful situation and getting his life back, which makes him a compelling character. And he has so much love to offer! His willing victim is Mia, a single mother who’s still stuck in her personal Hell until Lex and his friends–especially Mason–help her. The whole book is about defining who one is afer winning back the control over one’s life.
There was so much chemistry between Mia and Lex! And I loved the banter. It’s a really nice romance, give it a try.
Quickie
- Series: standalone (but linked to 3 other books of Karen Deen, Gorgeous gyno, Private pilot and Naughty neuro) - Hashtags: #billionaire romance #single mom #instalove - Triggers: mention of domestic abuse and dubious consent, emotional abuse - Main couple: Mia Kennedy & Alexander Jefferson III - Hotness: 3/5 - Romance: 4/5 - + Lex is the most amazing man - – I thought the flashbacks weren’t included well
Mia is in her own hell but she will do anything and everything in her power to keep her babies safe. The evil around her will soon be gone. She just prays she will survive it.
Lex is on a mission. From the moment he saw her he knew there was something special about her. The way she loves her children is something he wished for himself. His mother is pure evil but he will no longer allow her to dictate his life.
Mia wants to prove to the world that she is no longer a weak and fragile woman but in order to do that she needs to let go of the one thing that has kept her safe.
Lex will forever be her hero but will it be enough to keep the demons at bay? Read and find out. The song that Karen’s chose in this story had me in tears. It was just that beautiful… “She Used to Be Mine” by Sara Bareilles
There is so much to read. Just when I thought a book couldn't get better than the last, Karen proved me wrong. This book was so well written. I cried along with the characters at the heartbreak they endured. I laughed so hard at the sass and banter between each character. When secrets are revealed and truths are told you feel the pain along with Mia and Lex. They both come from different worlds but their love is unforgiving.
This one of the FF sexy men has me sighing.....Lex just fell into my heart and stayed there, giving me the warmest feeling and filling my heart with so much love. He truly shocked me in how deep he could love and didn’t even realize he was capable. He was just made for Mia and her children. His compassion, kindness and ability to show such open hearted love to her and the kids melted me. Yes the tough lawyer exterior was still very present but I loved this other side to him so much more. The way he understood what Mia needed before she did just explained how much he was able to read the depth of emotion he felt for her and with her. Mia needed his strength and love more then anything else but also grew to know she needed him as a man just as much. Watching these two build in their feelings for each other was such a beautiful slow burn. The amount of respect and patience they had for one another was second to none.... Let’s not even get to how sexually compatible they were!!! Like off the charts hot and steamy but oh so loving. The way that Lex just fit into their lives and made everyone whole was incredible. I loved all the twists and turns even his awful vindictive mother.....well I hated her but understood where she fit in the story! I hope this isn’t the end of the FF because I am absolutely not ready to let them go❤️❤️ A definite must read!!
It’s a tale as old as time when a guy just muddles through life before he meets the love of his life. Lex aka Alexander, is a good guy. He does what is expected of him and nothing more. His friends refer to him as the grumpy one, until he meets Mia.
Mia is the mother of two adorable kids, and is running from her abusive ex. All she wants is stability and happiness for her children. She has a knack for getting herself into situations that make her life more difficult. A chance encounter with Lex makes her want to believe in happy ever after for herself.
I enjoyed the story. I felt a connection with the characters. I felt as though the story was a little preachy about family and friends. There was some lack of continuity with a supporting character’s name that took me out of the story a few times. Other than that, I will recommend this story to others.
Lovable Lawyer is the 4th book in the FF series and it definitely is a MUST READ!
He may have been born Alexander Jefferson the 3rd isn't but it definitely isn't who Lex wants to be. He wants to be the fourth in the basketball playing, friendship circle with Mason, Gray and Tate. He wants to be everyone hero's. He wants to be someone Kayla and Jack can look up to and admire. He wants to be Mia's prince charming. If only he can convince Mia
But it's really not Mia's fault she's resistant. She's been burnt before by the people who were supposed to love her. And while she's trying to not only sort out the mess that's become her life that has her running scared, finding a family she never knew she had, she's trying to fight the growing feelings she has for the lovable lawyer who's standing beside her offering her everything she never knew she needed...or wanted.
This was a fabulous 5 star read and I can't wait for me (which I'm kinda hoping is Ashton's tale)
Lex colors in the lines, as his whole life is about black & white, no gray areas to be found, and this makes him a cut-throat lawyer. When he needs to decompress, he chills with his best friends, but lately, he's really feeling the loneliness as his bestie's have all found their person. Enter Mia. She's a mother to the cutest tiny humans in history, who definitely did their best to steal this show. She would do anything for them even allowing friends to get her & the kids out. Little did she know that she would find family who love her, not to mention Lex becoming her hero. Oh, and she's just what the doctor ordered for Lex as well. So, Mia lost herself making for some angst, a lot of chemistry with a big side of sweet interactions starring those adorable tiny humans, and finally some meddling friends to bring on the humor. So, how will it all play out?! Hit those one click buttons to find out! HIGHLY HIGHLY HIGHLY RECOMMEND TO ALL!
Due to her upbringing all Mia ever wanted was a family of her own but her dream turned into an ordeal until she and her children managed to escape a dangerous situation not once but twice. She has recently reunited with her sister and created a new life for herself when Lex comes into her life.
Lex is a force to be reckoned with both inside and outside the courtroom. Although under very different circumstances than Mia he has endured a difficult childhood of his own which has shaped him into the man he is today. When he meets Mia, she and her children inspire feelings in him that he has never felt before and he is determined to show her that the only place she belongs is with him.
Lex and Mia take us on an emotional journey. The evolution of Mia’s character as the story progressed was wonderful to watch as she with the love and support of Lex she reclaimed the strong, fierce woman she was meant to be.
You must read these books in order to fully understand this crazy framily. I have loved each couple throughout this series but damn my heart melted for Alex, no one knew his pain with his mother his whole life and what he had struggled with. Mia was perfect for him and how adorable was Jack with his chatterbox infectious personality and baby Kayla was too cute. I will say they had probably the hardest storyline out of the FF boys and it pulled on the heartstrings many times. Mia came through a lot of hurt and trauma however that ending made me wonder why she was still so panicky and unsure. I would have thought with more than 15 years of loving Lex and their kids she wouldn’t still be so nervous like she was for Jack at the end. I did love each and every story and would definitely recommend this series, I’m now going to see if Ashton has been given a story as I would love to see which woman tamed him.
Gah this book had all the feels. Emotion galore and a hero who is one very alpha, very sexy, very swoony man.
Lex was sexy that was for sure, he had this charm about him that had hearts in your eyes and your panties wet.
His lovable, jokeable side was just so damn adorable. I loved the chemistry between Lex and Mia, the sweetness they had made you gush.
I laughed, I teard up and my heart broke at times. Everything about Lex and Mia's story just had me. It captivated me and had me smiling from ear to ear.
Mia was this strong, determined woman who had more gusto than she gave her self credit for. I loved how she grew throughout the story.
The ending. Gah I was blown away from start to finish.
Karen's men just get better, hotter and more oh so delicious.
Lex's charm and lovable character just have you in aww while you read and you fall head over heels in love with him from the very start.
"Lex and Mia’s story was such an emotional read, and absolutely amazing. Karen Dean has such a gift of writing these stories that you feel deep down in your soul, and Lovable Lawyer is probably my favorite of all her books.
Mia is a strong mother to Jack and Kayla, running from her past, hoping to make a better life for her and her kids. In comes Lex, you knew from past books, his life wasn’t the best either. Don’t get me wrong he could have anything he wanted, but he just wanted to be loved. They were such a wonderful couple, their banter once Mia felt comfortable was so sweet, a slow burn friends to lovers book.
Learning that DNA doesn’t always make a family, Mia comes to find out there are good men in the world. Can’t wait to see who’s next, whoever it is, it’s gonna be a bumpy ride."
I was not prepared to love this book as much as I did. This who series was enjoyable for me, it brought emotions, laughs, and happily ever afters. Lex was everything you could hope for and more. The growth he went through in this book was amazing. Mia was so strong and just brilliant. Her development throughout the book was perfection. A lot of times I feel with books that can talk about past trauma they make the characters seem very pessimistic and just genuinely make it hard to truly enjoy the reading to a point you get lost in it. That was not the case with this one. Both Lex and Mia suffered trauma in different ways but regardless they kept fighting. Highly recommend reading all 3 of the previous books so you truly grasp how wonderful this friend group really is, but this was by far my favorite story of the series.
