A little dark... A lot delicious! Ivey's story (books 1-4) Alien abductions are total crap! At least, that’s what I used to think. Now that I've woken to discover I've become victim to an interstellar trafficking ring, I don't have any other choice but to believe. Saved by a spacecraft full of gorgeous alien males, I must find a way home. Yet, these males have other plans for me, and I discover too late my true purpose. Daunting as it all feels, the more time I spend with these enticing males, the less Earth feels like where I belong. Kat's Story (books 5-7) A Nomadican male with a bad reputation. A human woman on her own in the vastness of space. Will she play his victim, or teach him a lesson he will never forget? KAT I traveled the stars alone for what seems like forever. It's been a long time since I last laid eyes on a Nomadican male, and this one is as arrestingly gorgeous as they come. Captivated by his feline gaze, my body roars to life at the scent of his musk. Rocked and shaken to my core, I want nothing more than a taste of him. Until he takes me captive and commandeers my ship. Attraction aside, this male does not know whom he's messing with. If he thinks for one second, I'll submit to his will; he's got another thing coming. Siv After my home world of Riosis was destroyed, thieving to survive became a new way of life. One that I have easily adapted. On the run from a Yulineon patrol, an opportunity sashay's by in a venomous disguise meant to fool the masses. Something about the masquerading female triggers a feral need deep within me that I never realized was there. Aside from my undeniable craving to claim her, the female owns a means for my escape. Once I take possession of her vessel, I find that I have greatly underestimated my captive and wake to find myself shackled. In the face of a common enemy, we forge an alliance. From there, we are swept into a torrent of unpredictable circumstances that leaves me forever changed. After all we have been through, I am challenged to succeed in the greatest theft of my life. To steal the heart of the one I love.
Written in first person by Iona Strom, the Nomadican mate series follow 2 human females over 7 books. I will review each individually keeping it as brief as possible.
Written from a single perspective, coming strictly from the human female's point of view, Captive is book 1 and followed the human female named Ivey. At twenty-five years old, she had just left her career as a plus size model in Los Angeles to return to the small town of Decorah, Iowa, where she grew up. Shortly after returning home, she was abducted by the Gretolics, and sold at auction on Tirius by the trolls. (If you have read the Valosian series, then you are already familiar with the Gretolics, as they were the ones who kidnapped all the humans that ended up on Valose.) To save Ivey from being purchased by a Wetokian, Natu and Xuel of the Nomadican species purchased her and took her back to their ship.
Nomadicans are tall humanoids with golden bronze skin marked with natural thick black tattoos, full lips, dark hair, and muscular figures. What separated them from humans was their twin black horns that curved with the shape of their heads, fangs, green eyes that glowed through cat-like slits, and the lack of navels (though the cover art depicts navels. The author never really expanded on this so I'm really not sure what the point was of taking away their belly buttons). They produced naturally occurring pheromones that gave each a unique scent. Their home planet of Riosis was destroyed by their enemy Bioti, and the only survivors of their species were those lucky enough to be off planet at the time. Without females, Nomadicans were on the brink of extinction.
Xuel provided Ivey a room on his ship and declared that she was to be treated as a future mate (shoulsis). He told his crew to court her properly and gain consent before sex. Unfortunately, Agris and Orius decided they would use her as a colitis servant (sex slave) instead, and tried to rape her. Thankfully, Natu intervened just in time. And that is basically the summary of book 1. At the end, they still aren't able to verbally communicate with each other.
Bound is book 2 and continued Ivey's story. We learned that the female Nomadican shoulsis have what is called a clav, which is basically a harem of males. With Xuel as the leader of the clav, Ivey had been selected as their shoulsis after Nulis and Natu bonded with her. Nulis (the one with the stinky breath) was the first to fuck Ivy. While Natu (the kind one who talked Xuel into saving her at the auction) was the second to fuck her, he was the first to bond with her. Nulis was the second to bond after a game of chase. And by the end of the book, the only one who hadn't fucked or bonded with her was Xuel, which ironically, was the one Ivey wanted the most. When the males bond to a female, their pupils become round and their iris changes color.
Ivey spent most of this book fucking two of her three mates, never leaving her (prison) bedroom, and being flowered in gifts. Xuel thought it was a brilliant idea to marry and impregnate her without her understanding nor concent. She still wanted to return to Earth.
Ivey's physical attributes were changing; Her hair had thickened and grown long as if overnight and her skin glowed with health and vitality. All signs of aging had been removed from her appearance. And because the Nomadicans have trouble pronouncing her name, she now goes by Avay.
Taken is book 3 of the series, and continued to follow Ivey. A lot more sex happened with Natu and Nulis, but still not Xuel. They FINALLY found a translator so they could speak to one another (yay!), and that's about the point where I start really disliking Ivey's character.
Even though she willingly participated in every sexual act, admitted that she was falling in love, and was happy after she realized she was a bride in her own wedding, the first thing she pushed for when she could coming was a ride back to Earth.
With all the unprotected sex she was having, she really never considered getting pregnant? Really? Lord, this is the dumbest bitch I've ever read. She conflicted herself often and quickly, giving me whiplash.
They decided to take her to the market, but advised her to stay close and OBEY. Instead, she almost touched a deadly plant, then had a flashback followed by a panic attack, almost got ran over by a vehicle, then had the odassity to to pout? Jesus Christ, they shoulda just let the spoiled, immature, drama queen dip-shit die. I guess since she currently serves a purpose as a baby oven, they can't let her die until after she has her litter. Anyway, I digress.
At the end, she ironically got kidnapped from the market by the Wetokian that bid against Xuel. I guess maybe she had a valid reason for that panic attack after all. Regardless, all this book did was make me loathe Ivey entirely. Like, I legitimately hate her character with little chance for redemption.
Return is book 4 and continued to follow Avay. After being kidnapped by the Wetokian, she was rescued by Xuel. She put up one hell of a fight against being raped, I will give her that. I didn't think that she actually had that in her. But then again, Ivey is the most conflicting character I have ever read. I'm convinced she has split personality disorder.
Just as predicted, she doesn't believe she can leave her mates after Xuel finally relented and made love to her. All three of them took her at once, where she introduced them all to oral sex. But the next day, she was looking at Earth and waiting to return home. Instead of coming out and saying "I've changed my mind, I want to stay," the little drama queen actually goes through all the goodbyes until Natu takes her down to the cornfields of her childhood home. Bare in mind, the woman now has cat eyes and is pregnant with an alien baby. Had they actually left her there, she would have been killed by the Yulineons. Or her own people. She was mere feet away from her father, and she didn't even bother to jump out and say "hi dad, just wanted to let you know that I'm okay and not dead, in case you cared. Anyway, I'm an alien now, and so are my lovers. Kay- bye." Either way, she doesn't get left there because she finally relented and decided to stay with her clav. 🙄 So Natu flew her back to the mother ship where there was a welcoming reunion. 🤮 Needless to say, Ivey/Avay never redeemed herself in my eyes.
Ravish is book 5 in the series, and thank the Gods that be, we are no longer following Ivey. This book is from another human female's perspective, a sixty year old (though she still looked to be in her twenties) named Katerina (Kat). She was present at the Tirius market when Ivey was sold. Born and raised in Kansas before she was abducted by the Gretolics, Kat had been rescued from the market by her mate Curose, who was killed while protecting her. Traveling alone in his ship, she had been hiding from the Yulineons for the past 4 years, knowing that she could never return to Earth.
Unlike books 1-4, this didn't follow the single perspective of the female, but switched back and forth between her and the main male character, which was a Nomadican named Sivueous (Siv). This is the first series I've read where the author changed her writing style midway through. I find that I prefer this format, as it lets us readers know the inner thoughts of both parties. Speaking of, Kat had a single Nomadican lover opposed to a clav like Ivey.
Siv was running from the Yulineon after breaking out of the penatorium (prison) on Grousious, then stealing the Hightous Council’s ship. Before the destruction of his planet, Siv used to be a master machinist of a merchant ship. Circumstances forced him to become a thief in order to survive. He caught Kat's scent at the Tirius market (which triggered his mating instincts) before tranquilizing Kat and stealing her ship. He locked her inside the infirmary after changing the security features, then plotted a course to the Wellonian galaxy (where his planet used to exist before being destroyed by the Bioti) with intentions of robbing the Quera.
Kat was able to take back control of her ship from Siv, holding him captive. Unfortunately, Siv had taken them to a galaxy far away without enough fuel or food to get to their destination. The pair stroke a deal; Siv would assist in getting past the Yulineon and secure enough rillium at the market on Wursh to get them back to Horsh. Then Kat would take Siv to the Wellonian galaxy. He agreed not to harm her, take her captive nor commandeer her ship. Kat also agrees to a good rutting, but only after he fulfilled his end of the bargain. That didn't stop them from groping, dry humping and a little 69 action.
Just after their accord was reached, the proximity alert warned them of an incoming Wetokian ship. They hid behind a green moon, but the ship was almost out of fuel. Desperate, they had no choice but to take the shuttle to the surface of the nearest uninhabited planet. As soon as the shuttle landed, they got separated by the jungle.
Devour is book 6 and picked up where book 5 left off, still following Kat and Siv. Kat was separated from Siv the moment she stepped off the ship and fell through the trees of the jungle. Kav wound up stuck in quick sand, slowly sinking with a nearby snake, and no choice but to wait for Siv to find and rescue her. Which he did, just before she got swallowed by the sand or snake.
They continued to exolore the jungle, seeking a power source for their ship. They discovered that the planet produced too much harmful electromagnetic energy, and if they stayed longer than 5 days, Kat would die. They fashioned a solar panel to power their shuttle, discovered that the vegetation produced a slime that provided protection from the electromagnetic energy, and barely escaped a run-in with the Wetokian and the Yulineon. Fortunately, the crashed Wetokian ship had the rillium they needed to power their space ship, so they were able to fly the shuttle back and get the hell out of dodge.
The deal from the previous book was renegotiated so they could have sex while stuck on the planet looking for a power source. Siv opened his heart to Kat, asking if she would be open to selling down somewhere and starting a family with him as her mate. Kat brushed him off, believing that Siv would never be content settling down in a boring life and not stealing his way across the universe. A theory only proven when Siv pocketed half the rillium he found and hid it from Kat.
On their way to Horsh, Kat was contacted by Natu, mate of Ivey from books 1-4, in search of translators. They negotiated a price, and after three bars of tellic were deposited into Kat's account, she sent Natu the files to download. As a linguist back on Earth, she spoke several languages and was quick to learn new ones, which was why she could speak the Nomadican language fluently.
Directly after shopping in Horsh, their spacecraft was hailed by the Yulineons. Siv came clean about the rillium he pocketed, handing it to Kat and asking her forgiveness. Then sacrificed himself to save her life. Kat hid at Siv's insistence while the Yulineons boarded and arrested him. Once gone, Kat discovered that as he was being subdued, Siv took the tracking device from the wall of the ship and pocketed it, while unknowingly dislodging the connected device from the Yulineon. Determined to save Siv, Kat used the rillium to get her to Salvedrus where her tillic was waiting, which gave her the ability to hyperjump to the prison. She followed the tracking device, covered the shuttle in the slime from the jungle, then retrieved him from the drain pipes where he had already started his own escape attempt. The two escaped the Yulineons determined to stop them from escaping, then hyperjumped the fuck out of dodge. Covered in blood, gore and injuries, Kat bathed and healed Siv before he made love to her, where he officially bonded himself to her. 🫶❤️🔥🥰 And that's where book 6 ends.
Consume is the 7th and final book in this series, and finished Siv and Kat's story. They received an encrypted message from Natu, welcoming all Nomadicans and their mates to their new settlement. Instead of his plans to travel to the Wellonian galaxy and attempting his dream heist (which would've placed Kat in unnecessary danger), he decided to travel to this new settlement with Kat. (Having read the Valosian series first, it was exciting to get a front row perspective of how the Gretolic ship carrying the cargo of humans crashed on Valose.) Unfortunately, it was that same Yulineon that forced Siv and Kat to burn most of their tillic and bypass their only chance to stock their supplies. With just enough rillium to make it to the Nomadican settlement, and food to feed one, Siv made the sacrifice to starve himself to death so Kat could survive. Instead, Kat talked him into a cryosleep procedure. They both made it to the settlement and into the welcome arms of Avey and her clav. Avay went into labor upon their arrival, and gave an easy birth to their beautiful daughter, whom they named Luella (and she most likely had a damn belly button). Siv provided Kat with a human style date and proposal, and they presumably lived happily ever after amongst their new friends on a new planet in their renewed lives.
Overall, I recommend this series. I'd give books 1-4 1.8 out of 5 stars, but books 5-7 4.2 out of 5 stars. ⭐✨ None of the books were worthy of a 5-star rating, but they were entertaining. I think if i didn't loathe Ivey's character as much, it would've been better.

Two planets, one Bioti home of the Biotios, the other Riosis home of the Nomadicans, had a trade agreement. The Nomadican government got greedy, targeting several cities on Bioti with plasmatic bombs. Millions died. In retaliation the Bioti government launched a bomb capable of burrowing to the center of the planet. Riosis imploded. Several ships watched the destruction of the planet. Other Nomadicans survived because they were away.
Ivy was abducted by the Gretolics, sold to a slave market on Tirius run by an alien named Trollis. When it was her turn one ugly alien , a Wetokan, started bidding high for her. Ivy pleaded for two other aliens to save her. One was short n the other tall. They were Nomadicans. The smaller one convinced the taller one to outbid the Wetokan. He won n swung Ivy over his shoulder running back to their ship. Even though their planet was destroyed these Nomadicans still adhered to the old laws. All females are to be cherished n pampered, if she decided to mate, no force was allowed. A mating consisted of a primarius with two secundries, this is called a clov. However two members of the crew tried to force a mating ,they were punished. It took Ivy a while but she finally settled on Natu n Nulis who were the seWcundries. She loved the way they smelled. She was also attracted to Xuel who was the captain, he was primarius. But things are never easy, the Wetokan held a grudge. What will happen to Ivy n her clov?
Kat was also abducted by the Gretolics n sold as a slave on Tirius. But she was saved by another Nomadican named Curose. They bonded n travelled from planet to planet. Being a linguist she learned to eventually speak his language fluently. But he died trying to protect her. Now she travels alone. She disguises herself as an alien known as a Scorpiose. They have a tail which contains poison, one sting will kill anyone over 300 pounds in a nanosecond. So everybody gives her a wild berth. She returned to Tirius to shop n noticed Ivy on the auction block, but knew she was in good hands with the Nomadicans. While returning to her ship someone followed her.
Siv a thief n escaped prisoner saw her in her disguise but didn't believe it, she smelled too delectable. He also noticed how rigid her tail was. So he followed her to see which ship arrived in. He needed a quick g etaway from the police space force. He drugs her n takes over her ship but what he doesn't know is that she has a failsafe protocol that will return control back to her signature. I loved how Kat ran circles around Siv. He wanted her for a mate but she couldn't forget Curose n didn't want another Nomadican mate. In Siv's words: (This tempest of a female took my life by storm, turned my world upside down in the most wonderful way possible, leaving me a better male in her wake.)
Despite the grammar and punctuation issues, these are great series
The Nomadican Mates series intertwines with the Warriors of Valose series by the same author--which you will want to start first and then pick this one up around book seven, is it, of that series.
Despite some serious grammatical mistakes (rampant misuse of apostrophes, insertion of the wrong near-homophone, the truly tiresome insertion of so-called alien words that are more word-butchery than clever construct) these are both pretty good series.
The first story of the Nomadican Mates series involves a reverse harem (MMMF, but no MM action). There are some things about all of it I did not personally care for, but the HEA for a human female abducted with almost no hope of a safe and healthy future has lovely appeal.
The second story deals with a human woman with a similar past, but she is more than twice the first woman's age--and is essentially the widow of a single Nomadican male. She is determined to never love again--mainly so she never has to endure loss again--but a charming Nomadican thief steals not only her ship but eventually her heart. It does NOT hurt at all that those beans made into a gel with magical properties are essentially a Fountain of Youth...so despite being nearly 60 she is having an awesome time with her second chance.
Dang, I wish I could get one--but we all know that isn't how this works. Hence, the enduring popularity of romances. I don't see reality getting better anytime soon so I believe it's a market that'll be there for quite some time. This series (as well as the Warriors of Valose one) will deliver, even with a few rough edges. For that, five stars.
I almost NEVER do negative reviews. This book was awful!
This is an alien abduction book so I expect the usual: kidnapping, mentions of sexual assault (which I will use SA going forward), miscommunications and misunderstandings.
What I didn’t account for was almost a completed detailed scene of an on page SA. Not once but twice in the two of the seven books I read - and I’m sure there is more.
There was also a complete lack of content/trigger warnings. Trust me I went looking for them! The only warning was in the description of the book and reads: “Ivey is the first of many to tell her story of dark abduction and erotic survival”
Had there been content warnings I NEVER would have read this book.
There are also spelling errors and grammar mistakes which I can forgive as the author didn’t seem to be a native English speaker.
She also describes the FMC as being a plus size model but described a more standard weight, which only irritated me further with this book.
I give this book 0/5
I won’t ever yuck someone’s yum, I’m sure there is reader out there who this is for but if you are triggered by on page SA this is not the book for you and I beg you not to read.
Ivey aka Avay (1st half of book) I'll start with the positive, it was well written, a good idea & the characters were likable. The negative- it was super frustrating & at times down right confusing. They know "Avay" can't understand a word they're saying & they make that repeatedly known throughout most of the book yet they go about the whole story as if she knows what they're saying & what's happening. Xuel & the other men agree she has to choose her "clov" in her own time, she's to be treated as if she's one of their females ,how important being their mate is, she's to be protected & cherished... after stating all that they all sleep with her while talking about what it means if she does, they give her gifts while she doesn't know what accepting them entails. Then THEY decide (not her like what was supposed to happen according to them cause she has no clue what's happening) to make her their mate & impregnate her to help the species not die out.. it was just super frustrating to me. It was said to happen one way but went another. She was supposed to be in charge of what happened(she thinks she's a captive most of the book) but the males initiated everything. They barely speak throughout most of the book so they don't get to know one another, not much dialogue, yet somehow they talk of how much they love each other & how they've learned so much **eyeroll, facepalm**
The Nomadicans are nomads of the universes They survived the annihilation of their homeworld Riosis from a broken trade agreement with the Bioti. These nomads that survived were off planet in various spacecraft and now seek a new worjld to inhabit. While in search of their new planet they discover a rare species called Mannock (Humans of Earth) that have been abducted by Gretolics to be sold into slavery out from under the caretakers of the Universeval Ruler watchdogs, Yulineons. These watchdogs protect the underdeveloped worlds that have no knowledge of other galaxies and species by being judge and jury and delivering death sentences to any who violate the Universeval Rule, which includes any "human" found in space or other planets under the Yulineons control However, through all this chaos, the Nomadicans and other 'nomads' find soul mates or Shoulises to help repopulate their dying race that is on a pathway to extinction These 7 books tell the journeys of 7 different experiences of nomadic beings finding their soulmates through all the multitudes of intergalactic species and dangers
Honestly better then I expected as I read it pretty fast. It sucked me in with the character’s interactions and how the romance blooms I mean there is a lot of sex scenes and the books are a bit shorter then I would have liked considering they are only like 10-13 chapters a piece… and between all 7 books tells the story of two different romances. I do feel like there was a possibility to maybe add more and make these books longer and maybe more in depth on how something’s are explained maybe describing more about the guys and the nomadicans, and maybe a bit more about the girls backgrounds as well. I usually only give 4 starts to books that I feel that way about but the way the author lays things out is done really well and I would recommend it as a semi quick read that is pretty steamy and good read. Would highly recommend buying it as the box sex though
This series wasn’t bad at all, it’s two different storylines 1-4 is one and 5-7 is another. The author did a really good job at world building and the characters weren’t completely awful.
The first storyline was a little frustrating the female was super wishy washy one minute she’s in love the next she’s trying to get back to earth. It was really obnoxious and inconsistent.
Second book was interesting , again the author did some excellent world building but not so much where it was lengthy and obnoxious. Now to be aware the second book was just MF where as the first was RH.
My biggest issue was no trigger warning. While I don’t have triggers some readers do and it’s super rude to not let your audience know that. I would’ve given the book a one star due to this but honestly this series was really well thought out and written.
This was a wild ride from beginning to end! These were the only books by Iona Strom I hadn't gotten around to reading so I thought I'd catch up! And I'm so very happy I did. This collection is not and spicy with hard themes of alien abduction and slavery especially of females of all species. Ivey and Kat suffer greatly but find the unending love of their mates in the end. This is a perfect read before bed I totally recommend you give it a try💖🔥💖🔥💖💖🔥🔥💖💖🔥💖🔥💖💖🔥💖🔥💖🔥💖🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥💖💖
I loved the warriors of Valose so i decided to read this as its the same author.
Only gave it 2 stars cause the last story wasn't completely awful.
The first book was honestly terrible. Too many tiggering things with no warning ....sex trafficking, rape, Stock home syndrome ect Ivys book was just AWFUL a horrible disgusting porno flick type hot mess.
While Kats book wasn't as bad, it was actually interesting once you got past the bad porno slut stuff, still I just can't with these. Complete waste of time.
Look forward to reading whatever Ions Storm comes up with next!
This was an interesting read, it took a little while for me to get sucked in. But once I did I couldn't put it down, it was enthralling to read the world building that was out into these characters, the storyline and the detail of each new planet, creature, and interaction. I thoroughly enjoyed this box set.
Alien abduction on a whole new level! Horrified at the auction, (yuk..humongous spiders)but loved the tenacity, courage and spitfire attitude of the heroines in this series! Non stop action in a vortex of creativity with the ultimate goal of creating a new world and future for the Normadicans and their human mates!
I’ve read this novel three times now and it never gets old. Avee (Avay) fight to survive is filled with thrilling events. But, the best part start when the two males find her at the slave auction and bring her to the ship. A must read and a heart warming romance.
The Nomadican Mates series is a fantastic read! Both heroines are strong feisty woman; the Nomadican males are huge, strong, gorgeous males who treat their mates with lots and lots of hot loving! The book has an awesome story line, lots of action, thrills and chills.
I get that one of avay's mates had bad breath, but I thought she was given like a mouthwash in the beginning and wondered why she didn't make him ise it, rather than belabor his stinking breath with every single interaction between them. Kats story was much more well rounded
It was ok for me. The first half was one story. I’m not all that into reverse harems but the story was good. I always like a good story. The second half was pretty good I liked it a lot better than the first. But the two half’s melded together well and that I did like
This was a good box set. I had already read the Silver series books before this set so I know how it goes, that was a very good series also! I have enjoyed Iona Strom's books so far and look forward to reading more!
Lots of misunderstandings resulting from lack of common language. Ivey is captured by bad aliens and auctioned off. Luckily the successful bidders are fairly honourable. Her change of circumstances with the Nomadicams does not go without issues.
Exciting and imaginative adventures of two human females who find their HEA's with the Nomadican males destined to be their mates. Filled with action and the kaleidoscope of the untold galaxies they travel in search of new beginnings.
Books 1-4 and 5-7 are very different. I liked 1-4 more as a personal opinion. 5-7 were slower and less 🌶 The writing is simple very little character growth. Quick read and overall enjoyable but I did find 5-7 dragged a good bit.
The Nomadican Mates series is a wonderfully exciting romance story. A must read for those who enjoy alien abduction romances with happy endings after terrifyingly exciting adventures in well imagined worlds.
These two stories were separated into seven books. Glad I was reading them in this manner. I am not a big fan of waiting for stories to continue and these were two really good stories.
What a rollercoaster ride for these women. This is an awesome written story. It flows so well, even though the alien to human dialogue. So impressed. I love diving into Iona's worlds, I'm never disappointed.
I always have high hopes when start reading a new author. But few make to my list of read everything they write. I could see each of the characters and loved them all.
