Veronica, an Amazon Chart-Topping author, and Florida native has spent the past two decades embracing the beauty of Georgia’s scenic coast, where she realized her lifelong dream of writing mystery and suspense.
Known for her gripping tales that navigate the shadowy depths of Savannah’s haunting allure, Veronica pulls readers into a labyrinth of mystery and suspense, making it impossible to put down her books until the last twist is revealed.
In her downtime, Veronica enjoys a fulfilling life with her husband, her steadfast partner in love and adventure, and their lively Australian Labradoodle, Fiddler.
Veronica shows her ability to write masterfully cross genre in this darker mystery and suspense novel. This book is for the reader that truly loves the fast paced, darker mystery and suspense genre. If you have read Who's Watching Maddie you will love this deep look into the main character, Julia Shaw, and if you haven't this book will make you want to read Who's Watching Maddie immediately. Typically I feel like short stories can hurt an author because they aren't able to show the full scope of their writing talents as the story is condensed, however, this short is not one of those cases. Veronica somehow still wraps you up in the characters and makes you feel like you know them personally. There are so many layers to Julia and I deeply enjoyed getting to know her. This is a great introduction to this author if you haven't read her books before.
Any incident regarding child abduction pulls at the heart strings and this case certainly pulled at Julia Shaw’s heartstrings. Julia is a seasoned investigator for the US State Department and considered, along with her partner Val, to be one of the best at solving child abduction cases on foreign soil. The story is fast paced. Julia is like a dog on the scent often working on gut instinct and finding clues that local law enforcement had overlooked. Her focus is totally on finding the child and bringing the abductor to justice. Sometimes that focus sees her going outside the guidelines of the law and against the advice of her partner Val, and for that Julia faces heavy consequences.
This is the first book (novella) in a series. Julia is an agent working for the US Government overseas. She and her partner Val are assigned a case to find a 9 year old US child who has been kidnapped while waiting for his bus from school. It's a short story which will take one day to read. There is not much guess work for the reader, but it is exciting to "watch" Julia and Val do there work. They solve the case but unfortunately it doesn't end well for them. Can't wait to read the next book.
This quick read introduces us to Julia Shaw. Julia is a kickass agent whose instincts are highly developed and on target. Following up leads while on an out of country kidnapping case is not easy when your hands are tied by that country's bureaucracy and corruption plus your own country's wish to not rock the boat. This crime thriller will keep you reading until the end as you follow Julia's instincts and challenges to finding the missing boy. Great read!
Nixon is fantastic at delivering a page turner of a kidnapping. I can recommend this for high school and above. The swear words are rare and no sex scenes or gore make this a quick read for just about anyone. I'm not sure where the next book is going from here ( This novella is not a cliffhanger, so no fear there!) but I'm a sucker for clean crime/mystery stories that aren't sappy, frivolous cozies.
This novella starts with a bang and doesn't slow down from there. Julia and Val are agents who are called in for a kidnapping. I liked the strong female leads who follow their own path and take no prisoners. This action filled story will keep you on the edge of your seat until the final page...highly recommend. I received an advance copy of this book and this is my honest review.
This incredible roller coaster of a prequel that will leave readers pining for the sequel to Who’s Watching Maddie. I cannot wait to read the book. Loved the writing. Storyline solid. Characters well fleshed out. I highly recommend this prequel and if the following novels in the series is of the same quality I know I will be pleased.
This book was a very quick. I wish there had been more to it but it did its job. You should read this one before reading Who’s Watching Maddie. Both kept my attention from start to finish. Bravo, Veronica. Looking forward to reading more.
Loved this book. A friend recommended the author and so glad she did. This novella introduces Julia Shaw -a US Special agent. In this book she is in Brazil searching for an abducted boy. Fast -moving; great read. I’ve already downloaded the next in the series. Definitely recommend it.
It might be a novela but that doesn't stop it being a great read.
Julia and Val are sent to Brazil to locate a American not Daniel who had been kidnapped on his way home from School, he suffers from asthma duo its even more vital for a fast response or rather result.
It's fast paced twist included and a great read I hope you enjoy it I certainly did.
