A baby born out of violence. A child, gone without a trace, a brother and sister at odds...these are the obstacles that Chauncey “Chance” Le Blanc, the good-looking, charismatic new Sergeant at Arms of the New Orleans Jokers will be forced to navigate as he tries to move forward with his life, and leave the traumas of his childhood behind.

But the past never dies and a man who can’t let go of it and forgive himself can get as stuck as the roots of the cypress trees that grow in the swamps of Louisiana. Chance hadn’t even realized he was stuck until he had to come face to face with the possibility of losing a child he didn’t know he wanted, the ghost of the brother he thought he’d never see again, and the anger of a sister who he couldn’t protect.

Chance Le Blanc will have to put the brakes on the future he thought that he wanted and make a U-turn into a past he never wanted to return to. The only question now is, once he goes back, will it be possible to forgive himself for his mistakes, turn back in the right direction, and finally live the life of the man that he so desperately wants to become?

*I received a free copy of this book which I voluntarily chose to write an honest review for.

Time to catch up withe Jokers to see what they have been up to. This time we follow Chance. He has had one doozy of a life leading him to the present where the past collides with everything going on. His woman, Sharon, is still dealing with the after math of her rape as she progresses through her pregnancy. This has caused all sorts of tensions between the two of them as they have a few unresolved issues to handle. As if that is not bad enough his sister pops back into his life accusing him of murdering their little brother who has been missing for the last five years. Talk about past and present running smack dab into one another making it necessary to deal with all the emotions they both bring into his life. Add the MC on top of it and you get a fascinating story that gives so much insight into the man he really is. Leads to a very happy ending as it all plays out. Makes for a fascinating read as you fall into the MC life while wondering how Chance will handle the next issue that pops up. A great addition to this intriguing series. I really liked it so I give it 4/5 stars.

OH MY HELL! Chance & Sharon have gone through so much already, but it's been leveled up this round. She goes into premature labor, and his sister, Poppy, shows up slinging accusations about Chance murdering their brother, so he's really going through the fire again. Finally he gets his sister to work with him to find out what happened instead of working against him. I have to say that their growing up years were absolutely brutal, and I got very emotional (not just rage either) because of the way Jessie Cooke writes her stories. See in my opinion, she actually draws us in completely so it's like we're part of the Jokers MC, and what a gift that is. The twists are coming in hot, the MC's trouble, and the son he has is in the NICU, so yeah, it's rough going. In order to find out how it all pans out, you'll have to hit those one click buttons, and while you're at it, read the series in order to see the whole Chance & Sharon picture! HIGHLY HIGHLY HIGHLY RECOMMEND!

Chance

This is another winner in the Joker’s MC series down in the swamps of LA. After everything that Chance and Sharon have been through things just keep getting thrown at them. Sharon is about to deliver so will Chance be able to claim this little one as his own even if Sharon’s rapist’s blood in running in him? Now his sister Poppy shows up again blaming Chance for killing their little brother five years ago but together they are able to work on finding out what their mother actually did with Bubba all with the help from the Joker’s MC.

As in Ms. Cooke’s books I am given the full feel of MC books with the rollercoaster rides, never knowing what’s in store next and the strong men and women along with their steamy connections. I felt like I was along with Chance and Poppy in their search for their little brother. Now I can’t wait to see what comes next from this author!!

A terrific addition to this exciting MC series. Finally! I’ve been waiting for Chance’s story. The movie star handsome brother that Blackheart took under his massive wing and gave him and best friend Gabe a family they could count on. Love these swamp brothers! All are unique in a culture that not many understand unless you’ve experienced it. Mystery and superstition resides next to religion and faith. I love the swamp culture aspect and hope we get more in the upcoming stories. Gabe and Chance really need to go back to the swamp and make things right with the swamp witch so bad things will stop. Yeah, spooky, grizzly fun! This story is about Chance’s family life, past and present. Both are rife with pain and heartache. The past stories in the series have Chance meeting the love of his life, Sharon, a dancer in the Jokers' strip club. The single mom and older beauty was skeptical of Chance’s feelings for her but he proved himself. Such a sweet and sexy couple. Then tragedy struck and both were devastated. Chance really had to step up and prove his love. And, boy did he. We see the aftermath of the devastation and their love in this story as Sharon and Chance welcome the new baby. Plus we get the story of Chance’s horrible upbringing and sister Poppy returns. They once again hunt for their long lost sibling which leads to intrigue as Blackheart takes the reigns and calls in old friend to the club, Maddox, to help in the search. I really like Poppy and with her connection to Grayson we’ll likely see more of her. This story didn’t have much of the Jokers or the gritty storylines of previous books. A glimpse of what’s to maybe come with the Green Sons and their illegal activities. I hope this is setting up for a go down between the two clubs. War time! Yes! You could read this as a standalone but to really know the history you would have to read the others. This is a quick, easy read with a sweet romance, a heartbreaking siblings story and a few moments with these fabulous brothers in the MC. Plus there are a few moments of the always sublime Sally, Blackheart’s old lady. Looking forward to Grayson’s story and more of these fantastic brothers. Maybe we’ll get a series with Maddox and his group of baddie security/investigative specialists. Lots of good things in this story! I voluntarily reviewed an ARC.

Very intense heartfelt read. Ms Cooke really zinged my heart with this one. Chance had a rough upbringing. Events in his youth caused him and siblings to be separated 5 years ago after their stepfather’s murder. When things calmed down, Chance went looking for his younger brother, Bubba, but he was nowhere to be found (the police considered him a runaway). His sister, Poppy, has and continues to blame Chance for Bubba’s disappearance. But now she’s back and claims Chance killed their little brother. Fighting for his own family battles along the premature birth of his son and the MC’s troubles, Poppy’s actuations are the last thing he needs.

From this point the story takes off and boy is it ever an emotional ride. My heart broke for Chance and those close to him. Every time I thought things might look up for him, Bam… Ms. Cooke took us off on another emotional turn.

I HIGHLY recommend Chance. While it can be read as a standalone, I suggest reading the prior 3 books first for a much better reading experience, as the characters and storylines do overlap. Also, after getting a taste of Poppy and Grayson’s story, which is next in the series, and this reader is super anxious for it to hit the shelves - it’s going to be another dandy.

2 Thumbs Up and 5+ Stars.

Not sure how I missed the first 3 books in the series but if they are as good as 'Chance' then I am going to be in for a treat when I download them to be able to get even more joy out of this great series!

Chance and Sharon's story is not pathed in unicorns and fluffy white clouds. From the start of the book there is heartache and one that Chance isn't sure he can bring his wife back from. This part of the storyline has been dealt with with great care so hats of to Jessie Cooke for this.

When Chance's sister roles back into town and her hurt and anguish apparent you know that Chance, Poppy and Bubba's story is going to be one hell of a story. Believing that Chance is the reason they lost their brother Bubba - Poppy comes into town like an averaging angel. But thing's aren't always what they seem! Have your tissues handy they are some scenes that will bring a tear and a few moments that will make you smile.

The Wild Ones is one hell of a Wild Ride one that you don't want to miss and Chance's story is full of twist and turns in a fast paced brilliantly MC book.

I look forward to Poppy and Graysons story!

The world of the Jokers MC from Jessie Cooke keeps growing and expanding. I enjoyed reading Chance's story this time. His history with his rough upbringing, how he came to know Blackheart, and just how devoted he is to the club indeed added depth to one who had been a bit of a fringe character in previous books.

The twists and turns in his relationship with Sharon were unexpected but understandable. Learning of the trauma he endured with his sister Poppy and brother Bubba and how it had affected all of their lives was heartbreaking. There was a mystery involved there, and solving that years-long mystery and bringing closure to their family was a winning moment in the book. One of the things I enjoy about this series is how the stories expand and intertwine. I am especially looking forward to the next in the series and learning more about all the tales within the Jokers' series that are to come.

Take a ride into the bayou of Lousiana and meet this group of passionate, rowdy Cajuns who take each other's back while speaking French and charming us all.

Chance is the next in the Wild Ones MC series but can be read entirely standalone. I've missed most of the previous books in this series but love Cooke's wiritng and the MC families she creates. This book stands even more apart since it focuses mostly on rather heartbreaking story of Chance and Poppy's horrible upbringing and their missing brother. While we do see the club brothers and Blackheart plays a big role with the search, it separates itself from much of the MC business this time around. I really enjoyed Poppy and her tenacity in finding their brother and found her connection to Grayson very intriguing! I'm sure we'll see more of her in later stories (fingers crossed!) This story allows us to continue the deep feelings between Chance and Sharon. Despite all they've been through, this couple is sweet and very sexy. Loved the book and can't wait for more of the Wild Ones!

Chance is having a bad day when his old lady goes into premature labor and then his sister, Poppy, comes back to town accusing him of killing their brother, Bubba. Bubba disappeared 5 years ago who without a trace & Chance’s previous try at finding him came up empty. As Chance’s old lady recovers in the hospital with his son in the NICU, Blackheart enlists a P.I. to help Chance find out what really happened 5 years ago to his brother. Poppy finally agrees to work with Chance on finding out the truth and as secrets are revealed, the person who made Bubba disappear was under their nose the whole time. As families are torn apart, Poppy & Chance finally get to start putting theirs back together as the elusive mystery of Bubba’s disappearance is finally solved and the perpetrators brought to justice.

So first off this book deals with some tough subjects- Rape, physical abuse and sexual abuse of a minor so be forewarned. That being said the story of Chance and his sister Poppy is heart breaking and the reader is cheering for the two of them to get past their trauma the entire time. Chance and Sharon deal with their issues (read the first two books for their beginnings) and settle into their HEA. It’s also the start of Poppy and Greysons story - I can’t wait for the next book! There is a ton of action, a plot that is well thought out, excellent character development, heartbreak and plenty of steam. I liked this one almost as much as book 1, Blackhearts story.

Chance & Sharon

With the pleasure and responsibility that came with his promotion to SAA of the Jokers MC also came a lot of personal issues. Would dealing with them threaten his new position?

A new baby that wasn't his but he wanted, a renewed fight to find his missing brother along with his sister who couldn't let it go. Did he want to? His new family could be threatened by the issues of his past.

There is so much going on you wouldn't believe it could be resolved in this story. Hang on cause it's another one of those bumpy rides. There is heat, love, hate, vicious enemies, and a club family as well as blood family that work together to make it happen.

loved it

This was a fantastic story. The biker, his sister and their brother, Bubba. Raised with a drug addict and an abusive stepfather, their growing up was fraught with lack of food, an unhealthy violent home. Then the sister left leaving the two brothers. Then a tragic happenstance sent both boys into separate foster homes. One son disappeared. One became a biker, and the sister became an actress. There is an HEA for this family of siblings. This is truly an action packed story. Highly recommend. No cheating between the biker and his wife. No cliffhanger. I can’t wait to read more of this series.

A fantastic story!

This was definitely an emotional, heartbreaking, but wild ride of a story that you're not gonna want to miss! There's plenty of unexpected twists and turns, surprise characters that change everything, but in the end, it's the best HEA for everyone. You certainly don't want to miss this story!
I'm looking forward to the next book in the series, as well as the other ones that come along after that!
I would definitely recommend this book, series, and exceptional author.

Emotional, heartbreaking, inspiring are just a few words used to describe this book. Chance and his siblings had such horrible childhoods with their mother letting it happen. This story is about overcoming and finding happiness after living through such horrible abuse. We are introduced to Poppy, Chance's sister and she is a spitfire...I really liked her. It is time for everyone to find some happiness...
What a great story, can't wait for more.

Loved Chance and Sharon's story. It was powerful and passionate. The story was perfect for the couple, the intensity was palpable. Chance was a typical alpha male, he loved hard and tried to protect what was 'his'. Sharon was a force to be reckoned with; having dealt with some serious heartache she showed determination and strength beyond measure.
This book certainly gave me all the feels, I laughed and cried in equal measure which is always the sign of a good book!

Definitely can't wait for more in the series.

This book is more about Chance and his life. The book introduces us to Chances life growing up. From his sister leaving after a traumatic childhood to his sister going missing.

If you read Gabriel, then you know that Chance and Sharon have been through a lot. Now that the baby has been born, you see how the relationship between Chance and Sharon get back on track. At the same time, Chance and his sister look for their brother.

This is by far my favorite book in this series. I cant wait for Grayson.

“Chance was a hard story to read, not because it was bad but it deal with some emotional and heartbreaking moments. It was a delightful and pleasant story to read but it broke my heart. The plot itself was full of twists and turns that kept me guessing how thing will change. Like I said it was an emotional story and the ending was beautiful. I couldn’t have ask for a different happily ever after. I won’t give you a recap of the story nor the blurb just that you will love Chance and Sharon’s story. It had all the feels, passion and romance that I love in stories. Highly recommended.”

This is such an amazing book! It was so sad I just about cried! Everything Chance and his family went through was so horrible and then everything with Sharon... just unbelievable. They are just so tough though! They’re all just amazing including Blackheart! Absolutely loved this book! Can’t wait for Grayson’s story! Highly recommend this series!

Loving this series so much and I think Chance is my favorite so far, even though it’s one of the most emotional too. The things that Chance and his family...siblings and Sharon...have gone through would probably make most people just crater and cave in on themselves, but this strong bunch doesn’t. This is an extremely emotional ride and involves so many characters, but it’s also such an amazing book that you can’t put it down. Great job, Ms. Cooke, definitely another fabulous story!

Chance's story is full of excitement and heartbreak. He and his siblings had the worst upbringing. Their mother allowed the most horrible things to happen to her children. And after all that Chance and Sharon has been through it's time for some good things to happen and eventually good things do come for them. Chance's sister Poppy is introduced and I love her, she's a little spitfire. This family, hopefully after all they've endured will finally have a great future to look forward to.

Book 4 in the Joker MC series. Get read for the emotional ride of the series so far! Chance has been through enough turmoil and abuse to live a thousand life times over. But still he stands strong along with Sharon. With cast old and new this is a story that will take you through every emotion but you cant put it down! well written with a great story line that is easy to follow.

Another great Mc story!
Nobody does an mc book better than Jessie Cooke! This is the fourth tale in the world of the Jokers MC and it has everything. The story takes us back to Chances' childhood and the events that shaped his future to the present day. Love, hate, mystery, misunderstandings, birth, false accusations, child abuse, sexual abuse and people who will not stop until they know the entire truth of past events. This story will touch your heart and fuel your anger. A must read

I love this series! It is enticing and cozy but with characters that will make you fall in love with them. It offers the reader a multitude of issues to sort through and overcome. There may be some triggers throughout so beware. But the usual will carry you through the story. What a story to be told. Love this series!

Fantastic and beautifully written story!! I was totally enthralled by the addicting words that made up the story. Chance and his siblings had a heartbreaking upbringing. So when his sister comes in in town and tells him that their brother is missing that is more heartbreak piled on. He meets his match in Sharon, she has her own set of demons. Sharon shows grit and determination to overcome her own heartache. They are a match made in heaven!

I enjoyed this story. This was Chance's book and how he found a happier life. There was a lot of his history explained and it was rather rough. I loved how he used the support of his brothers in the MC to take care of his own. I am looking forward to the next book to see how much closer this group becomes.

The premature baby is his new family . then there is Grayson who's story kinda starts in this one too. It a good series of more short stories...
