Internship? No problem. Show up on time. Get the coffee orders right. Whatever you do, don’t get mixed up with your way-off-limits boss. Especially not on the conference room table at work.
Looks like I broke a big rule there. Eli had alpha male written all over him. Sexy and strong and set in his ways.
All I had to do was be a good little intern for the MLB expansion team Finish my classes, and that master’s degree would be mine. I could put my illness behind me and chase my dreams. No secret crush on my boss, no distractions. Absolutely no fantasies about him.
Nope never happened. Those dizzy spells? Probably nothing. Not my illness coming back. And definitely not a secret bundle of joy...
That would make everything even more complicated.
The Intern is a full-length office romance full of secrets and surprises and a whirlwind of forbidden naughtiness, all wrapped up with a beautiful and sweet HEA sure to make your heart soar! This book is part of the Office Romances series but stands alone. Books do not have to be read in order.

I enjoyed Elijah & Christina's book. Fun characters. It was an intriguing read. I received a free copy of the book. And am voluntarily leaving my honest opinion.
Sometimes, life isn’t fair—it throws a curve ball, or at least from the perspective of the impacted individual, the pitch seems to be unexpected and unhittable. To some children, the idea of having an MLB pro baseball player as a dad would be seen like a perfect pitch. And Christina’s life was perfect—going to her dad’s home games and child-oriented events were great. But, to Christina Jackson, the days—the weeks when the team travelled—were not perfect, and she missed her dad greatly for periods of time during the years when he was an active player.
Even as an adult, the connections between father and daughter were still apparent. When she chose the University of Nevada, Las Vegas as her choice for graduate school, her retired dad sold his house, also relocating to the desert where his daughter would be spending the next several years of her life studying. And her dad’s proximity was proved to be essential when the new graduate school student was thrown a curve ball—an unexpected diagnosis of cancer. After she was released from the hospital, instead of returning to her apartment, her dad had insisted that she move in with him where he could help her manage her recovery without the burden of such tasks as shopping and cooking.
Now, fully recovered, Christina, back in her own apartment, was in the next to last semester of her masters’ program. And, this semester would not be filled with classes. Rather, while she would take one class, she would spend most of her time and energy in an internship, working with the PR department of MLB’s local affiliate, the Las Vegas Hearts. And, as a team located in a city with a very distinctive entertainment identity, one of the challenges for the PR department’s new director, Elijah Prentice, and its new interns will be to build local support and identity—to build an energy and a following for the team in a city which already had unlimited entertainment choices.
Eli Prentice had loved baseball all his life, but he was wise enough to recognize that his love of the sport did not necessarily mean that his athletic abilities would carry him to the majors. And so, with his passion for baseball undimmed, he redirected his focus to where his skills could best make him successful—in the promotion of the team. As opening day approached, his task would be to build a winning promotion for the Hearts and to utilize this young team of interns to provide additional thoughts and creativity for that purpose. But, almost from the moment he meets the interns, he notices some interesting dynamics among one of the small groups of interns. Actually, he notices one person—Christina Jackson—a beautiful, outspoken woman, a little older than the other interns, who seems set on challenging him on every topic addressed.
Annie J. Rose is a masterful writer who engages the reader’s emotions and mind. She captures well the constant concerns of the individual moving out of the shadow of the past and into a new world with new opportunities and new relationships. This is a novel that not only entertains, but also provokes the reader's contemplation of the road blocks and threats of the past that can come to an individual’s growth and the growth of relationships on the pathway to love.

Sliding in for a home run with the Las Vegas Hearts
OK I am going to confess.....I picked up this book just because of the cover. I mean what can you say with that fuchsia background and the sexy blue eyes. But I also really like Annie J. Rose's writing style and she once again did not disappoint with The Intern. This is the fifth book in the Office Romances series and is the story of Christina Jackson and Elijah Prentice. Elijah is the new head of the PR department at the MLB expansion team Las Vegas Hearts. He enjoys his new role with the organization as he has worked hard to get there. So every day he started off acknowledging his accomplishment before he stepped into his office. Christina is a new intern for the Las Vegas Hearts who is just going through orientation. She is excited about the idea that her internship is with an MLB team as her father is a retired player in the leagues so it feels comforting and familiar to her. Christina is older than the other interns as she ended up having to take a couple of years away from school to deal with a cancer diagnosis that came about while she was in her Master's program. So she is ready to make the most of this opportunity and life in general given what she has already faced. Elijah and Christina get off to a bit of a rocky start but as they say where there are sparks there is fire and they definitely end up with a whole lot of fire between them. But that happens later towards the end of her internship as after all they do work together and it would not be right to be carrying on a relationship. After the first time they agree that they cannot do a repeat. So Christina's internship is over and she goes back to school to finish off her degree. But she starts to not feel good so a quick trip to the doctor and bingo.......she hit the "mother" load. So now what will happen between them? This is a charming and entertaining story with a bit of drama, some sizzling chemistry, romance and a dash of family added in. The characters are nicely developed and the supporting characters add to the story-line. I enjoyed this book a lot and would recommend it.
I received a copy of this book for my honest review. My opinions are all my own.
Interns arrived to start there time at the baseball stadium. They were divided into groups so they could work as a team. Elijah was new in the job as PR of the Las Vegas Hearts and now had the job of overseeing the interns. Two of the interns got him worked up for different reasons the first Hank talked down to the others and was insulting to the women. Christina on the other hand argued against everything he said to start with. In one group was Frank, Jill, Hank and Christina Hank started to rub everyone up as soon as he settled in there office. After a time Elijah wanted to drop him but hoped he would change and kept giving him more chances. Christina was a few years older as she had to take two years off as she had Cancer. Elijah realises that she had great promise and the first game of the season during the game he had her sit in a room and set up and run through out the game a tweet account. Christina and Elijah both liked the other until one day when the bumped into each other and both bent to pick up Christina’s lunch that she had dropped. Next thing Elijah is kissing Christina, Elijah quickly moves them into the room he was leaving and locks the door. He sits her on the table and she opens her blouse and one thing leads to another and they are joined as one. They both admit it was a mistake but that wasn’t how each felt. I received an ARC copy for an honest review which I have given I’m leaving you to read the rest as I don’t want to spoil it for you I’ll only say I could not put it down.

Annie J Rose crafts books that are full of passion, with a little roadblock or slight angst along the way. This is not one of them and it makes for a very touching and uplifting read. Christine is an older than most intern for the Las Vegas Hearts baseball organization. Taking all the time necessary for her illness, her school and caring for her father, it appears she's once again getting started. She is a competent, assertive young lady who is not afraid of questioning her new boss, Elijah. Although he thinks she's a real pain, he can't help but admire her assertiveness and her intelligence. He also can't help but be drawn to her. When the attraction turns to passion, the sparks and the clothes fly but, afterward, they agree it was a mistake. With Eli on the road with the team more often than not, Christine is busy at work and busy with her father. When she blacks out at work, she finds out it's not dehydration or lack of food, as she thought, she's pregnant. How to tell Eli! He's still on the road and that's not something she wants to discuss when he's so far away or on the phone. Eli's reaction when he learns that he's going to be a father is priceless and he became so much more in my eyes. The ending is a beautifully slow journey of learning to love. Delightful!
I almost stopped a few times but wanted to get to the end on this one. By the third sex scene, I wasn’t even really moved. Unfortunately too much of this read like corporate speak mumbo jumbo. Like a cover letter w no emotion. Even the dialogue was like that. I get they are at work but people don’t speak that way and certainly don’t think that way. This technically hit the plot points I wanted, but so robotically it took out the fun. Office romance - sorta happens then aborted, technically check. Office sex- not in the actual office but in the building so check. Unplanned pregnancy- check. Takes a while to tell the dad-check. But there wasn’t real conflict. Couple gets together pretty easily and merges their lives with the upcoming addition without even stress. Even the one bad guy is only in it for 45% of the book. The H never did anything to hurt the h or that hurt her inadvertently. The H was slightly confused by her not telling him when she should have but they didn’t even actually address the one point of conflict via dialogue. It was just dropped instead. I wanted the plot points but this was like a doll story for how much warmth or reality it had. Nothing terrible, but just so boring. Do not recommend.
This is a fun read that kept me entertained a few times I wanted to hit Christine and tell her to wise up to herself but that si part of what made it fun for me
Christine has got an internship and she want to prove herself so she drives her boss and the head of the PR department Elijah crazy by questioning everything and always wanting to do more He gets so frustrated with her that the obvious happens and they have wild S*x on the conference table. They both agree that it shouldn't have happened and spend the rest of the time she is there avoiding one another Now she is back at college and she has a surprise there are repercussions from that time and she is keeping it secret When she passes out at school her father tells her she needs to let Elijah know he is going to be a father but she knows he will be mad. What actually happens is he arrives ready to look after her but can they have a future together You will have to read to see

Compelling Christina and Eli are two absolutely compelling characters that draw you into their story from the very beginning. She had survived cancer and was pursuing her dream in both the sports world and university. When she starts her internship with the baseball team Eli is her supervisor. An intellectual as well as physical attraction between them is apparent, and both try their best to not act on it. How will they work out their attraction? Will she achieve her dream? A truly enjoyable read! I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
Christina is selected to be an intern at the offices of a baseball team. Her supervisor is the gorgeous Eli. Christina is very opinionated and questions everything Eli says. But there is a hidden tension between them that finally finds an outlet. On the meeting room table. They decide that this is a once-only thing and keep apart. As much as they can. Fortunately, Christina's internship is almost at an end. But there are consequences. Rather big consequences. Will Christina get the job of her dreams after completing her Masters? Can they forget each other? Great story and thoroughly enjoyed it.
I loved this book. The author got Hank so obnoxious I was cursing him, its the typical male chauvinist at work. I so loved it when he fell flat. I loved the chemistry between Eli and Christina right from the start. All the should we shouldn't we made me laugh. I loved Christina's father, he was a true star and teddy bear. I nearly wept when they parted. I was crying happy tears when they sorted everything out. I love a HEA. This Author is fantastic, I have loved every book I have read of hers. You get sucked into the book and can relate to the characters very easily.

Eli and Christina were destined to butt heads based on the feelings they held in reserve for each other. And the scandal of an office tryst??! I thought it was another one of their many daydreams lol. Baseball and PR not only brought father and daughter closer, but also cemented a couple relationships. I totally loved Joy and Eli’s mom and of course the supportive Wendell. The ending was kinda abrupt but I loved the overall theme of preserving thru tough times...all the way to the bottom of the ninth!

Elijah is the hot as hell boss to intern, Christina. She is still studying and only there for a brief time but things happen. The dynamic between Elijah and Christina is tenuous as first. Yes there is mutual attraction but Christina is trying too hard. Then their chemistry gets interesting and smoking hot. This was a really fantastic book to read, funny In places, tense in others but really fun. A seriously great book.

I really enjoyed this book a great deal! I liked how the author gave us the dynamics of not just the relationship between Christina and Eli but also of the one that Christina had with her father and how both of those relationships were so vital to the well-being and future for them all! I am not a big MLB fan but I found the story as it pertained to the sport to be quite interesting. A book well worth reading as most books by Ms. Rose have proven to be.

This is a very detailed story with a heartbreaking past for our heroine, Christina. The story was told tastefully and with a lot of realism. I like the way Eli and Christina play off of one another. I like the way thy move through their daily lives. I like Jill and Joy and Wendell and Robert and Joey. The team gives the feeling of a small town backdrop. The writing is nicely done and the flow is easy and at a good pace.

I didn't like Christine in the beginning, but overall she wasn't horrible. Just a lot more loud mouthed than I generally like. Eli was definitely not like your normal H's. He was more down to Earth and wasn't a business mogul who didn't make mistakes. It was also nice to see Eli not freak out and leave Christine when she broke the news to him.

Great love story. I loved Christine & Eli's story although at the start of the internship she seemed a bit pushy both being strong characters they were perfect for each other. The other characters were great as well & her dad was fab especially his twitter conversations with Eli who he knew loved his daughter.

Another great book by this author. Always a very well written book by her which can really be a true story. The characters really worked so well together and I had a wonderful connection with them all. I never found any spelling mistake to speak of or any holes in the plot of the book.
I do recommend this book for people over the age of 18+

I haven't read the story from this author that I haven't liked. She delivered another masterpiece. I loved the characters, loved the first person dual point of view, which is a deal breaker for me. Elijah and Christina were easy to love.

A great story. I thought at first that I ’knew’ how this story would turn out, but it was so much more. The storyline was well built and the characters were not ’standard’ - their personalities was shone through in a good way. I loved the teasing and banter. I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book
Cristina is a strong, smart and no nonsense woman is not going to back down. Elijah is her boss and finds her strength intriguing. This office romance is well written with explosive chemistry with some drams, passion, family that will have you turning the pages to the very end.

I loved this excellent book. Christina went through a lot with her illness and she was able to overcome it with a look to her future. I loved how much chemistry Christina and Elijah had even when they denied it. I was hooked from the very first page and wasn’t disappointed with any thing.

Love it! Couple see that Eli and Christina had chemistry from the start! I gave 5 outta 5 still but all the baseball gargon got a bit much at points, I just didn't always understand what was meant, but was a good read so didn't want to take away because of my lack of understanding.

This story was slow to begin with, but became increasingly enticing to the point where I could not put it down. I feel like the ending was incomplete, I wanted- for lack of a better word- more. I wanted to know more than what I was told; it came to a point where I just couldn't put this book down. Over all, this novel deserves a high rating because it was deliciously good.
