This was an interesting read and the author’s point of view on spirituality and the afterlife are wonderfully loving and welcoming. She emphasizes the release of negativity and bad experiences for personal growth. She also emphasizes community, how it can aid us and help us grow spirituality. I didn’t know there were even spiritualist churches led by mediums. How interesting!

She addresses the challenges of being a medium, including how to protect yourself and how to create boundaries, how to meditate and how to visualize. In regards to bad spirits, there was a lot of “go into the light,” so Poltergeist got it right. She talks about higher spirits versus spirits that are stuck in our world that can be just as toxic as any live person you know.

This vibes with my image of the spirit world as kind of like working in customer service. You could get the awesome customers that you relate to and love to chat with, or you can get the dumbasses/assholes you can’t stand who don’t know what they’re doing here. So, you know, watch out. Be mindful. Grandpa may not be Grandpa but rather the drunk groper who won’t f@ck off.

She touches on all the “clairs” and on chakras, on ouijia boards and pendulums and other forms of divination. She gives concrete instruction for how to connect with the spirit world. I’m a little freaked out by ghosts so I’m not sure what I’ll try, but I’m gonna try some of it. Wish me luck! 😬

While I loved the content overall, I do take it all with a grain of salt because these things can’t be proven or disproven, perhaps unless you’ve had personal experience that validates it for you. I am curious to read my other book on mediumship and maybe one other I’m interested in, to compare and contrast methods/ideas. BUT I will say I would recommend this book for its point of view.

An enjoyable read, nice for beginners, and those long standing. It's always interesting to read how other mediums work etc, and their interpretation of things. It was nice to see trance and transfiguration in there.

I gave it 3 due to the wrong usage of "committed suicide" as that is incorrect terminology and has been for many, many years. I work for a suicide prevention charity and we try to stop this from being used.
