A groom who’s loved her forever. A bride who wants to run. When a family bombshell threatens Katie’s happiness, can she finally let go of her past to say “I do” to her new future?
Four-time Carol Award winner Jenny B. Jones writes contemporary romance with wit, sass, and Southern charm. Since writing for both women and teens leaves her with very little free time, she believes in spending her spare hours in meaningful, intellectual pursuits, such as watching E!, going to the movies and inhaling large buckets of popcorn, and writing her name in the dust on her furniture. www.jennybjones.com
I finished this book with tears running down my cheeks.
I started this series as a high schooler and finish it as a married-twenty-four year old. I love all of Jenny’s work, but this book takes it all to a new level. It is rare to find a book that writes about the weird up and downs of love and fear so accurately. It’s so real and honest I found myself relating to Katie’s fears and being encouraged along with her by James’ words.
I recently re-read this entire series and it was very well worth it. Katie’s story is fantastic and deserves the ending that she received. It’s so full and complete and I’m just so happy for her. I cried like she’s a friend of mine. 🙈
Loved coming back to the Katie Parker series! The author brings her trademark wit and humour into this latest instalment of Katie’s adventures (laughed out loud a bunch of times!), along with a lot of emotion as Katie works through some struggles and prepares for her wedding. I just had a good time reading this and I really hope we’ll see more of Katie in the future!
I have a problem. There I said it. I freely admit that I have an addiction to books. Ask Amazon - they'll tell you I support 7 employees and their starving children with my book habit. My house looks more like a library than some small town libraries do. My point? Out of the 6000 books I own, these 6 in this series are my favorite!
Jenny B. Jones gets it. Children from trauma carry their lives in their hearts, minds, and souls the rest of their lives, but it doesn't have to rob them of joy. In this final book of the Katie Parker Scott, maybe Benson?, series, you'll see Katie still wrestling with old issues that may never fully leave her alone. After all, that is reality. What you'll also see is a young lady who learns that a merciful, loving God offers her a chance at different - the different she has craved all her life. Will she have the guts to grab it and never let go? Not alone, but with the help of the amazing family that had the guts to grab her and never let go - she just might find the courage.
In this final book of the series, Jenny B. Jones reveals the drama that Katie is so perfect at living on and off stage. And just as every great actress knows, there is always a final act that leaves the audience blubbering in their seats, reaching for a tissue, and dying to share the story with others. Today, as I finished the final Katie Parker book, I'm shedding tears of complex emotions, reaching for my tissues, and wanting to share this book with the world. Please take a chance on Katie. Start at the beginning with the first book. Luckily, you don't have to wait 15 years to see the series through to completion.
‘Love isn’t stable in our world. It’s not something you can count on, and when you do have it, it’s used against you.’
Jenny B. Jones gives us the final novel in her Katie Parker Productions series and it’s sooo worth the wait. I have loved Katie since she showed up in the little town of In Between as a foster child in her teens, mad at the world. I’ve hurt for her, cried for her and rooted for her in each book. And what can I say about Charlie Benson? He is a precious hero, strong, loving and totally gets Katie. These two have wound themselves around my heart. But wait! What about Mad Maxine, Katie’s grandmother? She absolutely is a treasure. I have hooted with laughter so much at Maxine’s antics till my stomach hurt. I wouldn’t mind having a grandmother like her myself. Minus the famous stake outs, of course. You’ll have to read the books to figure that one out. Then there’s James and Millie, two people who were willing to take on such an angry young teen, then loved her with all their hearts.
Jenny B. Jones is so good in this series. Actually, in everything she writes. I am a forever fan. She excels here, though. It’s been a long haul, but they finally get their happy ending and Jones does it well indeed. Why, I ugly cried through the last few chapters. I highly recommend this series. Note: you must read them in order. They are not stand alones.
*My thanks to the publisher and author for a copy of this book. The review here is entirely my own.
This is the perfect ending to a great series. I'll miss Katie. We can easily become afraid that our past could hinder us from being good spouses, parents whatever. But God can change us to be who He wants us to be. He gives us a hope and a future. Very well done!
One of the better things to come out of 2020 was this book. Jenny B. Jones is a must-read author for me, so of course I was going to read the latest Katie Parker book. Before you go any further, if you haven’t read the other books in the series (I can’t imagine why not), do yourself a favor and go read them all. It’ll be well worth your time, plus will fill in a lot of backstory.
With a wedding on the horizon, Katie is faced with a lot of baggage from her past. She has to confront her old fears and hurts, and she also has to decide if she’s ready to move on with Charlie. At this point in the series, I’m a little bit in love with Charlie Benson (okay fine, that happened a couple of books ago) and his relationship with a new character (no spoilers!) just sealed the deal. Of course, this story wouldn’t be complete without a Katie and Maxine adventure on Ginger Rogers. I won’t say more that, you’ll just have to read it for yourself! While I enjoy Maxine’s antics, it was also sweet to see her softer side during some moments that really help drive home the love she has for Katie.
Honestly, I was expecting to have a light, fun, rom-com escape from reality into the world of In Between (and a destination wedding). Nobody does this quite like Jenny B. Jones. And don’t get me wrong–there’s plenty of Mad Maxine and her crazy schemes, swoony Charlie Benson, and lots of drama for Katie to deal with. What I didn’t expect was to also feel as though some of the words in the book were meant for me.
“Stop thinking of hope as a feeling then. But instead, it’s something you work at, something you recommit to every day. It’s showing up and doing it scared. Fear is a cult that claims too many. It lures you in with faulty promises of safety. It wants to change your very identity and keep you bound to its lies. Not one decision I made out of fear has ever served me well.”
I was given an advanced copy of this book in exchange for an honest review. All opinions are my own.
Oh how I loved this book! This entire series is amazing. I read the first book in the Katie Parker Production series when I was in high school, so I felt as if I have grown with her into the present day. In Forever Your Girl, Katie is about to get married to Charlie, but has moments where she is haunted by her past. Because of this, she finds it hard to make decisions about her future. She also has a family bombshell thrown at her, which she also finds difficult.
The characters in this book are amazing, from the return of Iola Smartley, to Katie's best friend Frances, and of course Mad Maxine. This book had me laughing out loud with some of Katie and Maxine's "adventures" and just Maxine in general. That woman is a force. This book also had me tearing up at times, especially at the end (I totally didn't want it to end)!
So the big question is, will Katie and Charlie get married? At times it seems as if their wedding is doomed. Charlie is also an amazing character because he just gets Katie. He's also every woman's dream man (definitely mine).
I would recommend reading every single book in this series and reading this one as the grand finale. Katie has gone through so much in her life and I loved seeing her overcome her struggles and rely on her faith and God to get her through. Thank you Jenny; this book has saved 2020 for me!
You 100% don't want to read this if you haven't read the other Katie Parker books. It is #6 in the series, after all. So first, go back and start at In Between and read the other five. Done? OK, now let's talk about Katie's WEDDING book.
Katie is our favorite slightly crazy character, now a grown-up actress in big cities. After a classically In Between, Texas, proposal, by the first chapter we've found Katie's postponed her and Charlie's wedding twice. Now, as they try to make the third time a charm, chaos ensues. Of course.
A lot of the chaos has to do with Katie's past as an abandoned child, foster kid, and adopted teen. Her past is messy, and Jenny B. Jones really leans into that trauma and how Katie processes it as she looks to the future. Jenny is a foster-care advocate and has an adopted son herself, and her experience with kids as an educator really shines in her books. It's not pat answers and happy words.
I felt like Forever Your Girl leaned into the faith aspect of Katie's inner life a lot more than the last two novels, but it's what she needed to guide her through. For me, it's not a turn-off at all, although if you're expecting a light faith factor it may be.
You can't help but adore Mad Maxine, overdramatic Katie, mostly perfect Charlie, and the rest of the characters in these books. Seeing how they've changed and grown is so fun, and I'm glad Jones revved the series back up. A solid maybe-ending to Katie's chapter.
Jenny’s books never fail to make me laugh and cry at the same time, but this one may just be her crowning jewel in that category. It was beautiful, emotional, and as always so funny.
It realistically shows what goes on inside the brain of someone who deals with anxiety and has had a traumatic past. It also realistically shows the love that is possible when people pursue healing.
Reading more about Katie and her family feels going home to the best place with the best people. We get to see just about everyone who’s been in the series in this book, and it is perfect. Though I hope it isn’t the final book, it does make for a pretty good ending.
Lastly, I really want a Maxine. I think we all need one.
I would absolutely recommend this book and would re-read it.
Jenny B. Jones once again did not disappoint. I began reading Jenny’s books in my early teens and now as a 25 year old, I still can’t put them down. This latest book is one of the best she’s ever written. Katie is so relatable, the book is filled with humorous situations that made me laugh out loud, and there was such a powerful message of loving others and pursuing hope instead of fear woven between it all.
2020 has been a roller coaster of a year for us all so I suggest: take some time, ignore the news and media, grab this book and be prepared to laugh until you cry and remember why we should all pursue hope instead of fear.
Took me a long time.. but I’m glad I finished it. At first I didn’t like it. Because Katie was like.. “I wanna marry Charlie. But I’m scared.” But it came to the the point where Katie was breaking off the engagement and leaving Charlie emotionally distraught. Like Katie..🤦🏼♀️🤷🏼♀️ tell him why you’re scared. And she was just doubting if she was gonna be enough for him. And Charlie was like “You are enough. You’re the person I wanna spend the rest of my life with.” But other then that and me being so upset with Katie because she broke Charlie’s heart 💔 but then she mended it back together. And it’s a happy ending. I’m rejoicing! 5 stars.

I'm a big fan of the Katie Parker series, and preordered this final installment. I preferred books 1-3 over 4-5, and I think this one did a great job of showing how Katie's childhood affects her. The faith element was a bit better presented here (although definitely not the focus), and I adored Katie's relationship with James & Millie. I thought the sister/niece element was a bit cheesy, and the way the placement was handled was a bit unrealistic, but it was still a solid read
I have been in love with Katie Parker since the first novel, In Between! I have been eagerly awaiting this book since closing the cover on Something to Believe In. Jenny B. Jones again delivers a heartwarming tale that had me both laughing an crying.
The return of Iola Smartley made me smile and reflect how far Katie has traveled. It was fun to journey with her again while questioning: Will she or won’t she tie the knot?
*cries tears of happiness* Oh such a beautiful ending to my girl's story! I'm sad it's over.... but I liked the ending! And Charlie. Dude, i knew it from the moment he came into the story! I just knew it! He is one of my fave characters in every book I've ever read. Like, seriously. He's got the right amount of seriousness and humor. Jenny B. Jones, theres a reason you are one of my favorite authors!! 5 stars!!!!⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
cannot say enough to express my love for these books!!!!! I’ve read all 6 books 2 time and actually LOL every time!!!!! I love the grandma in these book almost more than the two lovers Katie and Charlie!!😍😍😍😍. I hope I will have someone equally awesome as Charlie someday!!!!!! And I just love when Katie and Charlie get married in the 6th book!! I hope Jenny b. Jones make more books on Katie and Charlie’s married life!! Anyone agree?

Loved this one! Its taken me far longer to get to it than I meant to but it was well worth the wait. It has Jenny’s trademark humor-there are several scenes that had me laughing out loud and Maxine is a hoot as expected. The emotions Katie deals with in the book are written really well and I really felt for her struggles with everything. A fantastic read! I really hope we see Katie, Charlie, Maxine and crew again!!
I'm not a young adult but rather an old slightly🤔 cynical old adult and this series is one for the ages. Beautifully written, beautiful thoughts, great warm characters and a heartfelt story. Read the series, it can definitely melt any ice around your heart.
Almost gave up on this one…..but I loved it. Looking back, it fits Katie and I wouldn’t want to change anything. I love it when authors can really get me to feel things and get so involved I yell at the characters when they do something dumb. I’m so sad this series has ended and look forward to reading Jenny’s other books
Oh, it was amazing to be back with Katie and Charlie!!! The Katie Parker series will always be so special and it was so fun to read their crazy journey to the wedding aisle. And don’t get me started on Maxine! I sure hope we get more books in this incredible series!
Satisfying conclusion to Katie’s story with some genuine laugh out loud moments. I had some issues with things and I’m pretty sure the author forgot a rather major point from an earlier book in the series, but all in all, it was a good ending.
This only has 4 stars because of my own personal frustration with decisions made by the character. And that, in itself, should give this book a phenomenal rating. This series is something else—i have pages bookmarked, underlined & highlighted. Genius.
Can I give it more than 5 stars? Such a satisfying ending to the series. So many loose ends tied up. I didn’t think it was possible to move Maxine anymore. This book made me happy!!
awwwwe cute!! this is so much better than the last book and i really loved this. the ending was so sweet and i really can’t believe it lol i read this series so long ago and it finally ended like this 😭❤️
This story feels very hard, as the fears of rejection plague the main character, causing her to turn away from even those that love her the most. It was easy to relate to her feelings, while all the time screaming at her to do the right thing.
I was sad to see the series come to an end...again. When it ended as a trilogy, I was devestated because I wanted more. I reread the original three to prepare to read the final three. I hate to see the series end. I would love for it to continue with Katie starting a family of her own.
As much as I will miss Katie and Maxine, this was the perfect ending. Well, it would be cool to see how Katie handles motherhood. This book is filled with all the love, antics and sass that I needed as well as some timely messages.
