I finally did it. I took that last step and it was everything I wanted. My relationship with my five mates has never been better. They've embraced not only me as a part of their lives, but also my daughter, and this feels like the family I always dreamed of.
I don't mean just myself and my mates, but the entire pack. They call me "Alpha." No, I'm not the Alpha, but I'm learning how to step up. I got this. I'd better, since Wolf's Run has thrown open our doors to more than just wolves, but it seems like my version of winging it is working for all of us.
But not all shifters have packs.
That doesn't mean they don't want them. These new neighbors might not be wolves, but everyone wants a community they can count on. The trick will be making sure ours doesn't fall apart in the chaos.
Or get taken from us.
Between the antics of these teenagers, the insanity of so many changes happening at once, and the enemies my mates and I have already made, things are out of control. I feel like I'm chasing my tail. Thankfully, I've learned a few new tricks.
Once, I was just the nice lady next door. Now, this is my pack, and I've become a real bitch.
Note:Wolves Next Door series contains profanity, consensual sex, and one adult woman who falls for multiple younger men. This is the last book in a trilogy.
I didn't even feel the many pages of this book/series!
I really enjoyed it all, definitely worth a try. Well written and engaging, fun characters and a lot of chemistry.
Maybe not the best UF ever, but it's that pizza-type of read. Perfect for the weekend, summer, Christmas holiday, or just after an annoying day at work (I'm at that point right now, so yeah, definitely useful).
I couldn’t finish this book. I enjoyed the other two in the series and even though I still liked the characters, this installment was pretty terrible in my opinion.
I got about halfway through before I just couldn’t continue anymore. The thing that bothered me the most is that the dialogue would not stop, especially on the exact same subjects. Multiple characters would have to talk about the exact same thing but we also had to read almost the exact same conversation. Nothing new would really be added when another character was caught up, instead it was the same concept and suggestions of the next step just in slightly different words.
I’m also all for inclusivity and a judgement free zone, and felt the first books already had diversity protrayed in positive ways. This book suddenly had several new characters to cover ALL sexualities or other potential discriminatory situations, which was unrealistic when it happened within a very small group of people, maybe 6 max. Having to read scenes for the 15th time of “we’re here for you” and “no one will bother you with us around” or just we’re all outsiders etc, gets old very fast. Why did each new situation have to be talked about extensively? Why couldn’t a character be introduced, we find out their sexuality and the reader just accepts that? Societal statements didn’t need to be repeated 5 times.
I tried to skim so I could get to the real parts of the story and the slight forward progress in the plot but it was too much to skim and got too frustrating. Then, halfway through the book is a situation that basically already happened and I think was really unnecessary so just was the last straw.
I’m sad to say all this since I’ve enjoyed this series so far and usually enjoy this authors writing. I’ll still give her other books a shot, hopefully this one was just a fluke.
It was overall a pretty good shifter series. It wasn’t the same as all the rest which made it much more enjoyable. There were some things I didn’t like about the plot, however, the fact that everything went together well made up for that.
Tbh although I rated it 3.5 and not 5 overall, this trilogy literally could be an amazing like 10 season show lol it has everything it needs to be a successful tv show.
The biggest downside of the trilogy was about middle of book 2 I started waiting for Damon to attack all the way til the end of book 3. Rarely any contact from him or Karen but I knew it was coming so I just had to sit there and wait for it to show up which was kind of frustrating.
Anyway if you’re looking for a shifter series this is a good one to read. The romance and smut is good, however, it’s the plot / storyline / originality of all of it that actually makes the book.
This whole series is so impressive in so many ways. The single mother trope is strong in this one. I love the relationship with her daughter as well. Of the three books this is definitely the spicy one. While this is a reverse harem series it has so many other messages. One of them being, coexist. Beautifully written, I can't wait to read more by this author.
It's interesting... I would probably have given this 4 stars if it had ended better. I felt the same with with Dark Orchid. I feel like the story is going along so well and because it's a trilogy, someone says... Okay, wrap it up, and there's a mad dash to just make it end.
The funny thing is I've had a lot of DNF's on other series which seem to take too long to get to the point. But this author is good and I like all the movement and action. Though I do feel like there are storylines that just get dropped also.
I need to start taking a tally of some of the storylines. Because I find myself midway through thinking... what ever happened with that? I'll let it go cause maybe it will be cleared up later. Then I forget what I'm trying to keep in mind.
Anyway, a lot of rambling for no reason. Again, I thought the ending felt rushed and I wanted more. Especially with the kids. I didn't like that she had 5 younger men and wasn't willing to have a kid with them. To the point that the daughter wanted to make sure her mother didn't have more kids. Not really fair. But I have none, so what do I know.
This is such a sweet series - it may be about shifters and their secluded world, but it is also a story about family, growth and starting over. This final book in this Paranormal Women's Fiction directed series brings it all together in perfect Hadley fashion; answering questions, gifting new futures, and culminating in a suitable HEA that actually feels GOOD. It's not forced or unbelievable - it just works. And it's beautiful.
What a great end to a series. I really enjoyed getting to know all the characters, it really was a delight to have them each get a POV and their own voice. It was so much more than a love story it was a story about coming together and fighting for what is right what is "Just" if that makes sense.
It felt female driving in all the best ways. Like just because they were human and are now more they are still fighting for the good of the whole no matter who you are. I really enjoyed that.
The fight scenes are pretty intense in all the best ways.
Again, loved the narrations all 4 of them do a fantastic job.
I adored this series and was so looking forward see how it ended and I was so excited and happy with it.
I love Elena and all her guys. The relationship grew in this book and I was so happy to see how it ended.
I also loved Elena and her daughter, Gabby, and how their relationship with the guys were in this book. It was really great to see how they all worked together and because even more a family unit.
There was excitement and action and romance and love. It had it all.
The side characters were fantastically done also and I would love to learn more about them in the future.
Auryn is probably one of the best authors at writing diverse characters the research she put in for just the cultural aspect is mind blowing and I haven’t even gotten to the amount of detail and character growth she put into this book and this whole series. She also amazing at getting u emotional invested in the characters she writes. This book was amazing
I enjoyed this series! It was a fun new take on the typical tropes. We got some epic spicy RH sexy time scenes! Throw in some overprotective male alpha's, lots of shifters to play with and all wrapped up in a love story where the FMC was 40 and it made it all the better!!! In all of these spicy steamy moments we had no MM scenes all fun times were MF! I was annoyed that it didn't show much of life "after" very much but the length of each book made it totally worth the money!
So glad this book released on a Friday, because I ended up staying up until 3:30 am finishing the book :) I loved seeing Elena come into her own and take charge. This story has action, humor, and steam! I also loved the new residents and how they all mix together. I’m sad this is the last book in the series, but it was a great ending :)
Loved the final book of this shifter trilogy. These characters definitely won a piece of my heart for all there strength and determination to make the world a better place for all shifters. I loved that this series is about a middle aged woman who finds love in an unexpected and different way but she discoverers that she is worth it. Definitely enjoyed all of these books but this one really stepped up and brought us an amazing and dramatic conclusion.
Elena has finally taken a decision whether to become a wolf or stay human, and she couldn't be happier about it. She's learning things anew and when shifters of different species come to Wolf's Den to ask for sanctuary, she enlists Gabbi's help to prove Ian that those shifters are worth saving. And when an enemy pack attacks them, those shifters prove their loyalty to Wolf's Den and to Elena.
I'm kinda sad for this to be the last book in the series. I wish that Auryn Hadley does a series where Gabbi is the main characters. I'm sure she will get in a lot of troubles 😂
This third book in the trilogy is very meaty. So much happens it almost feels like two books. This is not uncommon for this author. I love how this series is essentially a YA Paranormal Reverse Harem, told from the point of view of the parents of the kids. It’s a brilliant concept and something I loved so much. I’m in my 40s and I don’t want to read about 15 year old werewolves, I want to read about how their parents are handling their crazy kids and trying to keep them alive, despite their antics.
In this book Elena comes into her own as Alpha Female. She steps up and becomes a true Alpha. She takes the authority she has been gifted as mate to the Alpha and makes it her own. She does it in a unique way that reflects who she is rather than the traditions that came before her. She and Gabby are changing Wolf’s Run in a way that people are coming to embrace.
In the aftermath of the shooting at the high school and subsequent ‘fake’ video, there has been interest in other species of shifters in joining Wolf’s Run because they are desperate for safety and they don’t have packs, the way wolves do. Elena and Gabby, being minorities themselves have brought their experience of being outsiders to the table and demanded that the pack help others in need.
The path to becoming fully integrated is not an easy one, especially as Elena is learning how to move and live as a wolf, whilst Gabby is learning what it takes to be a proper Pack Alpha. Karen and her new mate are also still causing lots of problems, which is making everything that little bit harder.
As I said, a lot happens in this book, not just the expected bit of plot revolving around conflict and integration, but all the sub-plots too. Everything included is important and invaluable in telling the story.
I really do hope that in the future Auryn writes a spin off series, because there is so much that can be done with this amazing cast of characters, that I’m really not ready to say goodbye to, because as always they are written so well they feel real. I really enjoyed this book and the rest of the series, and I know I’ll re-read it in the future, because I enjoyed it so much. Knowing this author I’ll probably enjoy it more the second and third time round because there will be little hidden gems I didn’t notice on the first pass through.
If you want to read about adult romance, where the protagonists have to juggle careers, friendships and kids, as well as taking on the monsters and fighting for compassion, justice and integrity then this series is definitely one you should read.
A really good book. Lots of world building and some in depth character building. I really enjoyed it so so much about it. I think my favorite character is totally Lane. I adore his relationship with Elena. Its so so adorable. My least like thing about the book is that at times this book seemed really like it was more Gabby's story and it took away from some of the story between Elena and her mates (specifically Trent, Pax, and even Seth). I know that Gabby had a main part in the story - but there were chapters and chapters where when the main characters got together, the focus was all on Gabby and what she was doing with her group of potential love interests. For a while, it held my interest, but I eventually became a little frustrated and just wanted to start skimming because I felt like the characters were always saying the same thing and circling the topic like a bunch of vultures watching a carcass on a highway. But honestly, there are books so so much worse. This book is actually really really good and wraps up everything pretty well.
The first book was fun. The second book made the FMC look like a weakling. I couldn't be bothered to finish this one. These books are becoming a lot less romantic and a lot more of a competition for which adult can be the most *woke*. While it's nice that everyone is so thoughtful, it's boring to read. Three pages of a discussing where some kid is going to sleep after getting kick out of his house? Page after page of talking about the FMC daughter and how she's the best thing around? Come on. You're killing me, Smalls.
Another amazing series by Auryn Hadley. I will be counting this as another of my favourite series.......but im sure I say that for everything she has written. I actually wanted this to be a longer series as there is still so much that i want more off.... and really hoping there will be a spin off with Gabby and her Betas 💕 Would recommend this book to everyone 💕💕
Elena has finally wolfed out. Now if she can just get her legs to cooperate! Being a wolf is beyond wonderful, the senses update amazing. But this whole relearning how to walk again? Complete nonsense. But her Sisterhood is more then happy to help and her mates want to watch their sleek wolf become the alpha she is so already named. But strangers are knocking on the gates of their community, say they're seeking sanctuary. And human neighbors are disappearing. Then the calls and threats from old rivals start up. Her world already changed. Can the rest of the world handle the storm brewing?
Spoilers ahead. I adore that not once was Elena ever pressured. I may have wanted to shake a few for dragging their feet, but rushing was not a concern. All the background stories, wove into the main one, there was a real possibility of making this more than a trilogy and still feeling like things were left out. The whole series spans less than a year, maybe 9 months? And so much is packed within that even with the amazing world building I have questions and want more. Personal conflicts, society conflicts, vendettas colliding, expansion plans, teens gone feral, the dueling houses, betas roles- past/present/future, what an alpha is (beyond the stereotype), and a lot more are all going on in the wings. Honestly, this could have been a 5 part series like Demon's Muse and never dragged. Because everything was consistently go, go, go. Not rushed, but always moving. There were bonding moments, but so many were interrupted that I kind of felt bad for the characters. I'm hoping, that because the way this still feels open, not unfinished but open, that this world may be revisited. Because some of those background stories would be instant grab for her readers. Not necessarily for the romances, but for the further insight into these charismatic characters we didn't see nearly enough of. And also, I want to see the sanctuary take a more outreach approach towards shaping shifter society. I will add trigger warnings for 2 of their rescues. They are women taken from horrible situations of physical and mental abuse. Everything is glossed over, nothing in depth described, and it's only a couple sentences, but it bears warning for sensitive readers. And is also part of my desire to see them tech beyond their walls instead of waiting on strays to come to them. Otherwise this was a brilliantly done trilogy that never stopped on the action. Another Auryn hit it out of the park home run. And I thank the author, heavily, for creating a mature woman who isn't TSTL, who fights for herself and others, who doesn't settle, who plans but is flexible, and isn't looking to pop out a brood simply because she falls in love.
I absolutely LOVVVVVED this book! I don’t know how auryn does this to me every time but it was so GOOD!! I couldn’t put it down, and as soon as i finished i went right on and started all over again because i just couldn’t let the world go yet.
The plot continues to grow, and in true auryn fashion, she kept me guessing from start to very end. The story had so many changes as you go, it keeps you fully immersed so easily. The twists and turns are completely logical, and yet still completely surprising when they land!
I absolutely adore the characters relationships, i loved seeing how certain elements grew, how others adapted. I loved seeing the new friendships and bonds forming.
What I love MOST about this particular series, is that our MC is a single mum that’s in her 30’s, with a teen who is full of sass and smartassery BUT also they’re just perfectly imperfect.
All the characters are believable, Gabby is at times a gobby little sod, at others she is incredibly mature and level headed. She is a TEENAGER and she’s so perfect! She isn’t brushed over and just given a nod, instead she is a central element to the story, and a key consideration in the parents choices. She isn’t just an addition that sometimes gets mentioned, she is PART of the story. And i loved that. I love that we see her growing and maturing, but also seeing that she is still naive at times, she messes up by thinking she is more grown up than she is.
I love the Elena is unsure, she gradually gains confidence but doesn’t suddenly become “perfect”. She second guesses herself, but she doesn’t hide behind her guys and leave them to rescue her all the time. She doesn’t cower. At times she makes crappy choices, but she deals with the consequences.
All in all, yet another brilliant read from Auryn that will have you glued from start to very end, leave you needing more even though the story has come to a very tidy close.
And yet... MORE PLEASSSSSE!!! I need more from this world. I WILL BEG.
Wolfs Call by Auryn Hadley MMC: Ian. Lane. Trent. Pax. Seth. FMC: Elena
I listened to the audiobook series. Lola James. Aiden Snow. Aaron Shedlock. Gomez Pugh. These narrators did a great job bringing this story to life. I would say the narration is a 5⭐️.. the story itself is 3⭐️ This could have gone several different ways whenever writing it. This is book 3 in the series. You MUST read book 1 & book 2 first! In this book, Elena comes into her own as Alpha Female. She steps up and becomes a true Alpha. She takes the authority she has been gifted as mate to the Alpha and makes it her own. This one was packed full of drama. We saw the aftermath of the shooting at the school. We had other shifters coming into the community requesting help and places to stay. Of course, we still have Karen causing all kinds of drama & threatening the pack. Karen went to Damon, the forest grove pack alpha, and became his mate. She talks Damon into causing problems for the Wolfs Run pack. Therefore, it causes a fight between Ian and Damon — I wish there was a little more on this but it was kind of rushed at the end. This book could have been shorter. Elena had a big heart and wanted to help anyone/everywhere. Damon was turning people against their will and that’s how he was making his “pack”. Elena wanted to save everyone and Ian knew it would cause a dominant challenge.. The showdown between Ian and Damon was good but it could have been so much more. It could have had Ian more dominant/dangerous … along with Elena/Karen - Lane ended up killing her because she came after Elena while her back was turned. The romantic part of the story — I believe it should have been Elena with Ian, Lane and Seth. I didn’t care for Pax and/or Trent. They just seemed more like fuck boys than anything else. They should have been kept out of the romance part. It might have actually worked better. But I agree the “mate” was pushed on them and all they cared about was sex.
Book 3 of 3. Wow, what a refreshing story! The MFC is a 40 year old latina, with a teenage daughter NOW navigating her new life as a wolf herself, with a pack and all the joy and yet dangers that comes with it. She is strong in a more obvious way, both physically finding her feet (literally all four - wolf lessons!) and leading her pack with empathy and more understanding than I think at points she should. Lovely PNR romance evolves, and they although all the characters have their own baggage to navigate they make it work.
I've got this on kindle and on Audible - BIG fan of the fact there is both a male and a female reading the relevant chapters. Would be even better if it was dual narration (when the man reads all male parts, and female does all female regardless of chapter it is in) but I've been spoilt by recent books with this feature.
There are a few twists and turns, but nothing too intense. Unlike book one this is definitely the end part of a bigger story and cannot be read as a standalone. I have enjoyed all three books but this one was by far much longer and more involved than the others, everyone in the thick of it with a much larger cast of characters (lots of extra voice actors too - they've really changed how Ian sounds - I don't like it!!). I do however love how the relationships and characters have continued to evolve and fought for their goal for their wider community.
I only read this because i am part of a book club that reads RH. With that said I wouldn’t go out of my way to read this trilogy again. There were too many little things that added up to larger things that just made me not a fan.
The daughter who is now acting all alpha and also acting like she’s 20+ even though she’s 15. The conversations that had been had, the way she presents herself it just isn’t normal 15 year old behavior. If one wants to argue that any child can be more mature my flip side would be gabby never acted super mature. She acted like a spoiled teen that never really worked for what she had in the beginning when the FMC was still married and living with her dad.
My biggest thing is when you introduce fated mates you are opening yourself up to loop holes if your main characters aren’t fated. Somehow she was only fated to one of the guys but then they all decided to date her and fall for her. Idk it leaves it open to having the ability for one of the others to have a fated mate. Secondly, why did she (Elena) not have a fated mate when she switched over? So Lanes fated mate is her but he’s not hers?? Makes no sense. Idk this book just wasn’t for me.
Now that Elena is a werewolf, mated to her 5 neighbors, she must learn to use her new wolf body and to become the alpha female of the pack, while dealing with the backlash from the publicity that Wolf's Run has gotten after the school shooting, deciding to open the community to shifters of other species, and manage the other pack in town that seems to be asking to be exposed to humans.
I listened to this book as an audiobook and it was great! I really loved the narrators and think they did a wonderful job!
Auryn Hadley has consistently delivered exceptional and detailed character development for each character and given us full insight into their personalities and thoughts throughout the series. This book is no exception. I felt as if I knew exactly what each character thought of each situation in the book and exactly how they would react. I still found Elena's character to be a bit unlikable, but I didn't feel as strongly about her in this book. I thoroughly enjoyed the addition of the new wolf shifters and what each of their characters brought to the community. Auryn did a fantastic job writing so many characters without leaving any plot holes or contradictions.
Overall, I really enjoyed the series and would read/listen again!
This last installment picks up right off where Wolf's Call has left us. Again, Hadley has managed to create a wonderful shifter's story and its many challenges within a gated community. The story is beautifully written and it is evident that a lot of time and attention has been given to the creation of those characters. In addition, I appreciated that the author allowed the main heroine to take her relationship with each of the pack members at a different pace rather than attempting to juggle everything at the same time.
The main protagonist, Elena, has really grown through the series. She started off as this broken, unsecure and uncertain of her future woman and now I get to see her in completely different light as she has not simply found a new home, but also beloved ones, who cherish her for who she really is. The love story has developed quite gradually and I am quite glad that the pack was so accepting of both, the main heroine and her child.
Overall, Wolf's Pack is good and I would go even a step further and say that if you would like a slightly different perspective on an enclosed shifters' community with a slightly more mature FMC, then perhaps this series could be of interest.
I waited until I finished the trilogy before leaving a review. I'm not much for Trilogies because I tend to get bored by the 3rd book, but this one held my interest throughout all 3 books. It had a totally different spin on fated mates, and I really enjoyed it. This was an RH, but the fated pair was the alpha female and one of the 4 beta males, with the alpha officially claiming the alpha female so that they all could be mates. You'll need to read it to understand how this worked. And believe me, the author did an excellent job of making it work! It was very well written. The world building was superb, and the characters, all of them, were right on point and believable. What I really liked most about it was the fact that the MCs got together in the first book and stayed that way through the entire thing. But I wouldn't describe this as an insta love story. It took them all a while to get there. The conflicts they faced all came from outside forces except one which I won't give away. This is my first read from this author, but it definitively won't be my last. Like I stated earlier, I really, really enjoyed this book.
This book had everything I expected in a final book of a series, and then so much more that I didn't know I needed/wanted that just made it even better.
I loved seeing the growth in Elena and her realising just how strong she's always been, her confidence in herself and her relationships. Her relationship with Gabby has grown from strength to strength and is just beautiful, as is Gabby's relationships with all her mother's men. The guys all really stepped up as a partner for Elena and also a father figure for Gabby. The Sisterhood continues to grow and they made me laugh and be so grateful for my own sisterhood. <3 The side characters are amazing, especially the new ones that really made a big impact to Wolf's Run. This book closes out so many ties raised throughout the series, and leaving some new ones dangling for possible spin offs - if Auryn is so inclined (I really hope so!!) It really does have everything - drama, love, action, romance, laughs, family, friends and a wonderful inclusive community - who wouldn't want to be a part of it?! <3
