From Wall Street Journal & USA Today Bestselling Author M. Robinson comes a new stand-alone romance with all the feels.
What happens when you make a pact with your boys to stay single and never fall in love?
Well, you get the Playboy Pact.
We were friends, her and I. Best friends. It was easy. Simple. Comfortable. That was our dynamic. We had a system. An understanding. An unspoken arrangement.
We were there for each other through thick and thin. We had an unbreakable bond. Nobody understood our friendship. Because a guy and a girl couldn’t just be best friends without emotions getting involved, right?
Without noticing, everything shifted, and I was experiencing all these new feelings…
Jealousy. Possessiveness. She’s mine.
Yeah…
For the first time in my life, Mila wasn’t merely a girl I trusted and hung out with on a regular basis.

This book was one I was highly anticipating as childhood friends to more are generally my kryptonite as they hold all the angsty feels I seek and crave and this author has always provided me with books and characters I've loved.
For this group of friends and the age group they fell under (early twenties) their banter which was always on the sexual topic more often than not became a wee bit too repetitive and a little bit immature for their ages. And because of this I felt like it took it away from me connecting with the heroine and hero fully, and it just missed the mark in that aspect for me, making it really hard for me to push through and actually finish this, though some parts did garner a giggle other times it just fell flat. So for this I'm undecided on my rating. Some parts I loved, especially their childhood memories.
Screw me and turn me into a pancake! That's one hell of a way to excite me...a friends to lovers book by The M. Robinson. This going to be one angsty ride and I am so ready for it😋
Reaction after reading😐
Let me just gather the pieces of my frustrated and defeated heart. I've realized the more expectations you have from a book the more it lets you down. So honestly what I was expecting was: A cute shit romance where the hero suddenly starts having feelings for his best friend resulting in delicious angst and jealousy.(I utterly adore the whole confusion period where the hero and heroine are trying to deny their growing feelings for each other.) What I got was: The characters talking crudely 24/7 about sex sex and just some more sex. A stupid manwhore hero with his 4 other disgusting friends that sleep with half the women population and think it's somehow cool to not remember their names. Then they make a childish pact to not fall in love🙄. If I had a guy best friend who didn't respect women, I wouldn't even like to be his friend, dating would be an absolute no go🤷♀. Also is it too much to expect from authors for once to write about good decent heroes cz people there are men of substance out there! We don't really need to write about shallow, one dimensional, repulsive characters again and again☺️☺️.
P.s,🥺I am not giving up on M. Robinson, she has written legendary books and I am hoping against hope that the next book will have a warm cutesy feel to it.😛
This was an ok, light read that was humerous at times.. But man, this just didn't do it for me. Maybe it was all the dick jokes -- no strike that, if WAS all the dick jokes. Look, they were funny at first, but nobody in this book could have a conversation without bringing up their dicks or tits. It was always something, and after a while I just became bored with it.
The relationship between Mia and Leo was kind of predictable too. As was the Cain situation.. Idk, i just didn't like Leo. He acted mine Mia was soley on the earth just for him (not in a romantic way, in a possessive way) And it became to the point where he would be unreasonably pissed even his other friends spent time with her. Or when she made decisions about her own life. He wanted his cake and wanted to eat it too, never considering what it was doing to Mia. And I know we didn't actually see them be with other people, but they both hooked up with others before they finally got together, which just turned me off as well.
I might very well just be in a funk, but this wasn't my favorite from this author. I did really love Cain though (despite all of his dick jokes too) & I think he has a surprising amount of depth to him, so I can't wait for his book!
**I received an ARC of this book and these are my honest opinions.**

I didn’t think M could pull a rom-com, but she aced it! I really enjoyed how much lighter from her usual angsty af stories this was. I loved Leo and Mila. Not to mention, I am very excited for Ashton, Cain, and Sawyer to get their own books! If you’re looking for a funny story with a touch of M’s usual “feels,” I highly suggest you give this a try!
Author M. Robinson is surely going to be on my list of ROM Com authors after this read!
This book was fantastic! M. Robinson has set the tone for this series in this book and OMG I can't wait to get to know the boys of the Playboy Pact. Can you fall in love with every boy in the pact? Is that possible? I am going to give it a try!
The Playboy Pact between Leo, Ashton, Cain, and Sawyer is to NEVER fall in love and to never get married. This decision was made after Cain's parents divorced and the boys never wanted to have to deal with that heartache ever.
The boys are all best friends but Leo's bestie is also Mila, they were friends since birth. They took baths together as kids, their families were close and their friendship meant the world to each other.
Now, as you know, M. Robinson is a fan of angst so these two just can't figure out they love each other because what's the fun in that? The Queen of Angst is alive and well in The Kiss but she also will surprise you with many funny, laugh-out-loud moments. For me - the ability to make me laugh like this is an absolute LOVE for a rom-com. There is no over the top needed for these laughs, just everyday things that happen with these characters that you will just love.
Get on board for the ride of your life with these new characters that M. Robinson has blessed us with. Buckle up - it's gonna be so much fun.
The queen of angst gives her reader a rom com romance story. I just have to pick it up. The Kiss is short and min drama/ angst. In fact this is more comedy.
I like the banter, the conversation and the characters. Leo and Mila certainly a match made in heaven ( they just need 6 hours worth of audiobook to realize they belong to each other). But the comedy does not hit the spot.
I was excited to see the author of El Diablo (one of my faves mafia books) was venturing into the rom-com world and well this is not what I expected....
It was a cringe fest and a mess. They open their mouths and only corny things come out. They were in their 20s but it felt like a bunch of 14yrs old who learn for the first time about the world of sex. They only had two moods: getting drunk or talking about fucking. That was the whole storyline.
Leo realised he had feelings for her when he put her vibrator on his lips and then licked them to end up liking the taste. If that’s not romance I don’t know what is 😍😍😍 Mila towards the end was a hypocrite; she got on my nerves and acted so inmature towards Leo.
At least this book can win the Guinness World Record of having the words cock and penis written more than a 100 times🤷🏼♀️
I didn’t even get the chance to change my Goodreads status to ‘currently reading’ before I devoured this book in one sitting. Hooked from the very first chapter, there was no way I could put my kindle down. I absolutely loved everything about this story…. it’s a must read!!!
All the characters in this story, which is thankfully the first in this new series, are fabulous. There’s Leo, Ashton, Cain and Sawyer who make up an amazing group of best friends and create the Playboy Pact, and then there is also Leo’s best friend Mila who is practically one of the boys anyway. I have to admit that spending time with them was a pleasure. I absolutely loved the banter that they all shared. The laugh-out-loud moments brought tears to my eyes but then so did the heart in my mouth moments. OMG my emotions were working overtime as some scenes broke my heart and had me silently begging for the characters to make wise decisions, and dreading the outcomes should they not.
I’m not going to say anything else except please read The Kiss as you will not be disappointed. The author, M. Robinson, has made an incredible start to what I envisage will become a favourite series of mine - it certainly will if I carry on devouring the stories like this first one! The Kiss is a brilliant, friends to lovers story. I’m now left desperate for Ashton’s book which is expected to be released in May 2021. I cannot wait to be back in the company of this fabulous group of friends.
The Kiss is definitely a bit different from the angsty books Monica writes. I loved this rom-com book. It had me laughing til I got tears and yes, parts of this book also pulled on my heartstrings.
Mila and Leo along with Cain, Ashton and Sawyer will have you laughing. You also feel the chemistry between Leo and Mila. In all, I recommend this book bc I know you will love it as much as I did. It is a must read.
I can’t wait for the next book in “The Playboy Pact” series. The Kiss is another great book! Bring on the next book.
Plot Summary : Leo and Mila have been best friends for years. Now years later , they are both as thick as thieves since their childhood. But things are changing all of a sudden. One sudden incident , takes Leo to notice that the girl in front of him is not his best friend anymore but so much more.
Mila has always been his best friend and wing woman. But now things are complicated. Especially with another one of his best friends being interested in Mila. There is no way he can let her go , but the real question is that will they be able to save their relationship and Friendship together? Or will this step destroy everything...
Overall Opinion : Okk. So this book was a new one for Monica. Let me clear a few things first. I am a huge fan of her angst filled stories. Her perfect endings and those crazy Twists. She already warned us that this book was something new. But it was her book so I tried Reading this new genre by her.
And I am so very disappointed to say that I did not like this one. I felt disconnected with the characters. Another thing that I found lacking was the they always talked about sex. There were no sexual scenes until almost 50% of the book but by God , they talked about it 24/7. I don't know if it was lack of mature characters or the lack of connection Between them , but I found myself DNFing this book.
I am a huge fan of this Author which is why I will always read her books and everything she Releases in the future , but this genre by her is just simply not for me. So I won't be reading this series by her. A lot of people liked this book a lot , so I suggest that you decide for yourself. However for me , this was a DNF.
I adored this book. The sense of humour is fantastic and had me chuckling all day long. I had to sneak in my reading between other things because I was addicted. The writing is completely compelling and painted such a great picture that had me falling in love with every character.
Leo and his best friends, Ashton, Sawyer and Cain are comical and make for such good reading that it made me desperate to read their stories too. Leo is such an easy person to love and it was obvious that he was head over heels with his other best friend, Mila. Both of them are in denial and the way that they realise this fact is really sly and extremely endearing. Mila is a really fantastic character too. Her banter and the way she fits in with the four friends is seamless and I admire the way she holds her own.
This story was very original and I really can’t wait for the rest of the series.
I have wondered, throughout all of the books I’ve read, how can a character be done so poorly that I’d dnf a book only 15% into it. Spoiler alert: These characters made me dnf this book only 12% into M. Robinson’s newest release.
The first thing that catched my eye was the typo in the dedication, which I saw before coming into the book through the author’s Instagram post. You can call me picky but I am an English major and there are some things that I just can’t get through with, despite this I started reading the book anyway. The other thing that annoyed me the most was how childish could a person in their twenties be, which seems to me that the author doesn’t have an idea of how a 20-ish year-old acts like.
I won’t read any further into this book, because these characters have attitudes that belong only to people under the age of ten. With that said, I will not recommend this book to anyone.
M. Robinson actually created an angsty romcom and people...it’s magnificent!
Like, really good. Like read-it-in-one-day GOOD! I finished really fast and now I’m blaming myself because God forbid I ever savor a book and...this book...it deserves to be savored. (It’s okay...I’ll be rereading soon hahahaha.)
Leo is one of four best friend—best friends who once vowed that they would never ever fall in love. Creating the infamous Playboy Pact. (Jazz hands!)
But Leo has another friend Mila and they’re the cutest ever! I absolutely adored their friendship—I wish I had this kind of friendship but I guess that’s why I love reading!
Leo was funny and a typical college boy (all these kids are) he loves girls and girls love him back. But no matter who he with he always comes back to Mila. And oh boy, these two are good at being in denial. But c’mon—we love the angst.
Mila was amazing. I loved her. So so much. I loved her sass. Her confidence and personality. She made me laugh—actually this whole book and all the conversations made me laugh!!
And these two together took a lot out of me—let’s just say I yelled a lot...hahahahaha! But again, angst!!! It took a lot for them to get to where they are but throughout the book you can’t doubt that they were meant for one another.
AND! I seriously and literally and obviously canNOT wait for the other boys (especially Cain)! Ashton, hun, I’m ready for you! Few more months and we’ll be back in this world that I fell in utter love with! People, you MUST read this book!!
***Empty your bladder before reading or I guarantee you will pee your pants.... like me smh!
It only took me four paragraphs in, to realize that this book was going to take over my whole being. So with giddiness that I haven't had in I couldn't tell you how long, I wrote my reactions down in real time, and now I am putting 'them' fingers to keyboard to get my feelings down.
I do not want to say I was necessarily nervous when I learned The Kiss was going to be M. Robinsons first Rom-Com, but I felt something. It's not that I was even worried. I mean M. Robinson is the QUEEN of ANGST, but I just couldn't reconcile the QUEEN of angst and a Rom-Com part of her, just because I am so used to her ripping me to shreds and then piecing me back together again. With that said, 'The Kiss' caught me completely unaware, because the QUEEN of angst put her spin on THIS Rom-Com. For crying out loud, I felt this book like I feel her angsty books. At this point I have seriously come to the realization that this author could write the tale of literal dog ****, and it would still be amazing lol.
Okay, Okay now let's dive into the point of this review, THE KISS! As I previously mentioned this authors originality is insane. The overall storyline will be one going down in history. Dead serious when I say I was four paragraphs in, and I had a hard time swallowing my own spit because HELLO, Leo Hawkins is a Hero... and then some. The development and depth? M. Robinson built this amazing back story that just fell into line with the present. Everything was so in sync, and the more the story went on, the more this author dug the depth out, and I couldn't help but want more. Everything was so fine tuned and that shows how amazing this author is when it comes to world building. Friends to Lovers to me, is the best trope/my favorite trope, and M. Robinson just showed me again as to why. Leo and Mila know each other in ways that wouldn't even make sense to most people. They are almost a reflection of one another, but then again not. So for me, the build up to more had me on the edge of my seat. I am a fan favorite of how this author did not rush that. I felt the chemistry between them, from the very beginning. The dialogue was witty and filled with enough banter to last a life time. Each and every character included in this storyline, left their own mark. I enjoyed each and everyone of them, and it goes without saying I am more than looking forward to seeing each of these characters getting their own stories.
The Title of this book should have been "The Queen of Angst turns into the Queen of Rom Com." Because that is exactly what The Kiss by M. Robinson. An perfectly swoony, adorable and super funny friends to lovers romance. She sure delivers all the feels. All the sweet, heartwarming and cute feels. All the dreamy and aching feels. I AM OBSESSED.
Leo and Mila has been the best friends forever. Everyone thinks there is something going on between them. Everyone including Leo's other friends. Leo has made the Playboy Pact with his guys to never fall in love. And he is perfectly happy with playboy ways. Then Mila graduates and decides to move miles away for further studies. And that brings on the complications because Leo and Mila both realise that they cannot stay away. But they may need a bit of help to see everything clearly.
Oh my heart! I cannot tell you just how amazing this friendship between Leo and Mila is. Mila is the gorgeous and adorable girl with sass and sweetness in equal measure. Leo is so irresistible. A wicked sense of humor. A bit cocky, whole lot of smartass, annoyingly sweet to Mila and the real perfect guy. I was living for every flirty, funny, incredible moment between them. They are soulmates and the trust between them was incredible. M. Robinson really rocked it. The awkward and confusing moments when they were crossing the line of friendship. The heartbreak and heartache when they didn't know how to face, accept and embrace their true feelings. It was truly the full package of steam and swoon. Also I am so in love with Leo's friends and I cannot wait to read their stories.
The Kiss by M. Robinson filled my heart with so much happiness! This story was the prime example of how a romance can remove all my stress and refresh my heart. Reading as an escape cannot be any more effective.
A Rom-Com from the Queen Of Angst and she didn't disappoint. Author M.Robinson loves getting our tears in her angst books, well she got my tears in this rom-com.
The banter between these four guys is hilarious, these guys are a riot once they all get together. I can't wait to see how all their stories develop.
The Kiss is about 2 best friends falling in love. Leo and Mila are bestfriends since baby and they have each other's back always. Their easy nature around each other is everything. Everything was going so good between these 2 until feeling start getting involved. This was all new to them and they didn't know how to process it.
It took one major turn in their relationship to finally get them to see each other differently.
I can't wait for the rest of the guys to get knocked on their a$$es.
Honestly, this book is downright disrespectful to all of the rom com lovers out there. It’s what someone writes when they have only the vaguest sense of what makes a rom com great; an obvious attempt to throw together something that will sell. You know what makes for a great rom com? Actual chemistry between the characters, jokes that are funny, relationship development, and heroes who don’t hook up with a never-ending parade of other girls in front of the heroine. The “jokes” in this are crude and misogynistic, the characters are childish, and the “romance” is almost nonexistent. And we haven’t even talked about the other stuff that makes this book cringeworthy yet.
Essentially, the story follows Leo and Mila, two friends who have been close since they were in diapers. When Leo was 16, he made a Playboy Pact with his buddies, promising to remain single. Six years later, and Leo has lived up to that – hooking up with girls on a constant basis (as in, seeing how many he can sleep with in one night), often with the help of his wingwoman, Mila. It’s not until Leo finds out that Mila might be leaving town – with one of his best friends – that things change.
It’s not my first time reading something from this author, and that’s probably why I can’t get over how shockingly atrocious it is. She CAN and HAS written much better. I can count the number of books that I’ve 1-starred on one hand, but this deserves it. It’s like 50% dumb sex jokes, 40% scenes the couple is not in together, and 10% romance. Even if I could get past the garbage humor or the couple’s entirely problematic history, there’s zero relationship development. The “hero” is completely comfortable hooking up with girl after girl right in front of the heroine, but the moment one of his friends shows an interest, he’s suddenly a territorial jerk. The back half is one of the worst things I have ever read, and the entire book just felt like it was written by a teenager. I appreciated receiving an early copy and am voluntarily leaving a review, but this was so far from good that it’s not even funny.
Coulda, shoulda and woulda been a really cute best friends to lovers romance with a great cast of back up male characters if there had been a story. And where were Lala's girl friends? She only hung with the guys. She seemed to fit right in with the frat boy behavior. I didn't really feel much for her -- other than at times thought she was a big tease.
Instead, what you get is a bunch of immature guys and one girl who spouted nothing but crude and rude sexual innuendos and gutter talk on a non-stop rewind. Oh there were a few times that it was semi-funny -- but enough is enough, and it takes more than trash talk to make this reader fall in love with characters and their story. This one didn't leave the starting point.
"She was my neighbor for as long as I could remember. The person I counted on to be there for me, aside from my other three best friends who were more like family too. The difference between her and them… She had tits. An ass. A pussy I wanted to have sit on my face. I know, I know, so very vulgar. But hey, that was me. I was a guy, a dude, I scratched my balls and belched on command. I was a man who said and did what he wanted. No questions asked."
I am so excited to tell you about The Kiss! This is different from her usual trope with some conflict and a lot of laughs. It is light, sexy, funny, witty, and just what I needed.
It is a coming-of-age, funny, friends-to-lovers rom-com. M. Robinson had me laughing out loud at the antics of some of these characters. Each of the characters is real and relatable. I loved this tight-knit group of friends and their camaraderie. I loved watching the way Leo and Mila's relationship evolved from best friends to lovers, and how they navigated the change. There are just the right amount of emotions and laughter. This was a steamy, entertaining, and hilarious read. I highly recommend reading it and can't wait to see what the next book in this series holds. This is a standalone with a HEA.
M. Robinson's 1st go at Rom-Com is as Hilarious as they come! It's Fast-paced, lots of angst, Swoons, Feels & Romantic❤ with a HEA. I Adored Leo & Mila, along with his Friends! Read this in 4hrs over a few days, As I felt to read it in slowly😂.
Leo, Cain, Sawyer, Ashton are Besties & Mila is Leo's person. Mila & Leo had the bond that's so rare. All 5 have grown up together. At 16, When Cain's parents got divorced, Leo & the guys made the Playboy Pact. All Guys have different personalities but one thing is common, the sex jokes. It's filled in this book *Snicker*
Now All are graduating soon & their Futures may take them on different paths.. Leo; Charming & Hilarious exterior, Sweet within; is going on his dad's path & Working in his company. Staying at his hometown where he has everything. She goes away, 4 months in paradise. Mia & Leo's Friendship takes a hit like never before. She stops talking to him much & that hurts him so much *tears*. As time passes, Cain & She grow close. But it doesn't feel right...She can't even kiss him without thinking of Leo. There, Leo is working in his Dad's company & gets info about Mila by Cain.
It's time. Cain's plan succeeds! So I had a feeling Cain was doing this For a reason, as Leo helped him a lot during his parents divorce. Him Making Leo realize his feelings for Mila worked, even if it took a few months & well placed Lie! That Scene when Leo Storms in their House is so fun!

I love these two, & Cain for making them realise it! The epilogue's sweet, loved seeing'em Happy & I'm so excited for Ashton & Sage's book! **ARC Received for a Honest Review.** FB Page | Instagram | Bookbub | FB group
I was really excited for this book and it let me down, avalanche type kind of down.
These characters were so childish, all they could joke about were cocks and tits; for f’s sake, this author needs other things to joke about. I felt zero chemistry between these two, this guy went from best friend to caveman in about 0.5 seconds and it wasn’t believable. If I hadn’t remembered the blurb, I wouldn’t know the name of these characters. I never forget characters names, I know names of couples that I’ve read years ago, I know them all. These ones couldn’t stick to my head, it was just how good this book was.
The setting and timeline was a bit of a mess. They were in Cancun for two seconds and then they were back in Tennessee and something else was going on. Leo went all caveman about Cain asking Mila something. What the ever loving f**k was that, uh? These characters were almost like robots, placed around in certain settings and then the scene happened and they were somewhere else; we don’t know how they get there, what they are doing, nothing. I don’t even know their eye and hair colour.
This book might be the most awful thing I’ve read this year, I wouldn’t recommend this to anyone.
The Kiss is a complete change of pace for author M. Robinson, where her other work is usually dark and twisted this was on the lighter side of things. She tried a romcom and she nailed it!! I don't think I've ever laughed so hard from a book. Yes, there were dick jokes, yes there were a lot of innuendos but that is what it made it funny. For someone like me who has a tender heart when it comes to books this story this is exactly what I needed as a pick me up. Before you read this go in knowing that these guys are 22 years old. Their head is always on their dick and that was executed very well but there were also really beautiful moments between Leo and Mila. I am for sure continuing with this series because I know that I will laughing my ass off and falling in love with Robinson's attention to detail as well as her characters that you can't help but fall in love with.
Too many "dick " and "tit" jokes for my tastes. Young people today are much, much more sophisticated than what I just read. The main characters were too immature and never grew up. This was supposed to be a rom-com,but it didn't stay funny for long.
This is M. Robinson's attempt at romantic comedy and let's just say that I prefer her angsty books.
Leo and Mila are best friends and have grown up together. We mainly get scenes from their lives at sixteen and twenty-two. At sixteen is when Leo comes up with the Playboy Pact with Mila and the rest of their best friends - Ashton, Sawyer and Cain. Basically, they can never get married - staying "playboys" for life.
At sixteen, this isn't too bad but at twenty-two, it becomes an issue. And it's an issue for Leo and Mila even though they are not the ones to see it.
It was an interesting journey for these two but I have to say the immaturity level was something I really couldn't get past. Their "humor" was that of twelve-year old boys and these guys couldn't see past a woman's body parts. Thankfully, Mila wasn't quite as bad.
There's some drama at the end and again, I wish I could say there was some maturity but unfortunately, there isn't. However, I did enjoy when Leo's eyes were opened.
Ashton's book is next, The Fling, out May 25, 2021. I think I'll wait to see how the reviews are because I'm not sure I can stomach more twelve-year old boy shenanigans.
Being a lover of M's books and this being an anticipated read for me I wasn't sure what to expect but loving that she was taking a leap into something different.....romcom. Unfortunately, for me it was a Iike and not a love.
I started this book enjoying the story and the witty banter but it gradually got to a point where I felt the immature sexual banter became too much that it took over the story. I did enjoy the bond of friendship these characters had and the lengths they went to for their friendship. I did enjoy parts of the book and others not so much but I'm hoping that these characters will mature more through the next books.
"We're going to make a pact to stay single and never fall in love."
I'm struggling over two days of how I'm going to proceed with his review... The truth is that I love M. Robinson's books... She have written some amazing stories that are still living with me, but this certain story didn't remind the good ol' Monica that we all know and love... Or maybe it reminded me a little bit of "Complicate me" but on its worst version!!! Pff.... I'm really, really sorry about that!!! I'm feeling so awful, but I have to be true here!!!
"We were best friends. However, a guy and a girl couldn't just be close without emotions getting involved, right?"
Yep, there were potentions in this story, but the immature behavior of our male hero, Leo and his three male best friends when they were already out of college was giving on my nerves... These dudes were only talking about sex, sex, and sex... And in the middle of these four manchilds was Leo's best friend girl who was acting as his wingman, Mila...
"It has always been that way between us. This unspoken bond, where words weren't needed to know how we were feeling. He was my person. I was his."
To be totally honest with you, I wasn't feeling the connection between Leo and Mila. They were acting as two male friends who was shooting the shit all the time and out of nowhere, bang, everything changed... And at this point, I started to be a little bit intrigued, but we were already on 70% of the book...
"There's no coming back from you, is there?"
Why??? Why they have to be soooo immature these guys??? And still, I will keep reading the next books cause I'm having faith on Monica... I repeat, she had given me so many great rides with most of her books and I believe in her!!! Cain was definitely the character that intrigued me the more in here and I can not wait to read more about him!!!
"Who did a number to you, Cain?" "My parents."
P.S. I'm just wanted to point out that this is only MY personal opinion and it might be only an unpopular opinion. I'm just sorry that I couldn't like the book a little bit more.

My Rating: 4 stars Genre Best Friends to Lovers Romance
I’ve been reading M. Robinson’s novels for a few years now and have enjoyed the heck out of them! When she announced she was writing a romcom (she’s known for her angstier reads) I was ecstatic! For one, romantic comedies are my favorite types of books to read and for another, M. Robinson is one of my favorite authors . So, when you put both of these together you know you’re in for a ton of fun! Was I wrong in my assumption? Nope! I enjoyed this one a lot. I even read it in 2 days which is a feat on its own because I’ve been in a major book slump for the past 2 months. YAY for me and YAY for this book being one that I could devour in a short amount of time.
THE KISS is the first book in the Playboy pact series but it can stand alone. These are interconnected standalones revolving different couples (the heroes are all best friends though). This is also a childhood friends / best friends to lovers romance (two more of my favorite things!). Mila and Leo were a hoot together. I loved their banter, the way they truly FELT like best friends who were hiding there feelings together, and the romance that evolves as the story progresses. There’s a bit of drama and angst (although the angst is VERY low) and a ton of misunderstandings, but the story is solid and a blast to read. Sure, the heroes were a bit immature (they are in their early 20’s though so it does make sense) but “meeting” the gang in this book makes me super excited for the next one. I can’t wait!
If you’re looking for a romance that will give you the giggles and make you swoon, then I recommend giving this one a try. I’d recommend all of the authors novels as well if you’re new to her. My personal FAVORITE is HATED YOU THEN. .
