The Wild Hunt Legacy #3

Eventide of the Bear

Rate this book
She risked her life to save a human child. Pain was her reward.

All her life, Emma longed for someone to love. Instead, disaster sees the brand-new bard banished from her people for long lonely years. Injured saving a child, the werebear has to steal food from humans, breaking shifter Law. The territory’s Cosantir and his lethal grizzly warrior catch her in the act. To her surprise, she’s healed and welcomed. Obviously, they don’t know her past. But oh, she can’t resist being around other shifters—especially the captivatingly powerful warrior. Maybe she can stay…just a little while.

As a grizzly warrior, Ben is ordered to house the pretty werebear until she heals. His littermate abandoned him, his home is empty, and he’s been alone for a long time. Intelligent and sweet and lushly curved, Emma is a delight…even if she is oddly reticent about her past. Although having sworn off females, he’s sorely tempted by this one. Damned if he doesn’t want to keep her, secrets or not.

Females were trouble. Years past, one split Ryder from his littermate. Now the panther shifter is returning to Ben, bringing his cub with him, a four-year-old he stole from the abusive female. To Ryder’s annoyance, his brother is sheltering a wounded bear. A female. Even worse, she’s beautiful and gentle and loving—damned if he’s going to fall for that act again. But when the dark of the moon arrives and death reigns supreme, he’ll discover that not all females are alike.

In a world filled with hellhounds and pixies, can three lonely shifters and one silent cub create a new family together?

A New York Times and USA Today bestselling author, she’s renowned for writing heart-wrenching romances with laugh-out-loud dialogue, alpha males, and absolutely sizzling sex.

I met my dearheart when vacationing in the Caribbean. Now I won’t say it was love at first sight. Actually since he stood over me, enjoying the view down my swimsuit top, I might have been a tad peeved—as well as attracted. But although we were together less than two days and lived on opposite sides of the country, love can’t be corralled by time or space.

We’ve now been married for many, many years. (And he still looks down my swimsuit tops.)

Nowadays, I live in the west with this obnoxious, beloved husband and a seventy-pound lap-puppy. I’m a gardener, and I love nurturing small plants until they’re big and healthy and productive…and ripping defenseless weeds out by the roots when I’m angry. I enjoy thunderstorms, collecting eggs from the chickens, and visiting the local brewery for the darkest, maltiest beer on tap. My favorite way to spend an evening is curled up on a couch next to the master of my heart, watching the fire, reading, and…well…if you’re reading my books, you obviously know what else happens in front of fires.

Eventide. The finest hour of the day, and even better when celebrated with family and friends.

Werebear Emma was never lucky in her life. She always wanted to belong somewhere, but her mother was cold when she was a child, her people banished her after her disastrous first gathering and she spent three years alone in the forrest in her bear form. After she gets injured by a hellhound who attacked human children that Emma tried to rescue, Cold Creek pack finds her.
Cosantir assigns werebear Ben to look after her.

Ben is very angry bear since his panther brother Ryder abandoned him 5 years ago to follow a female. Now his brother is back and he has a cub with him. Ben obviously will let him stay.

Ben and Ryder will like Emma, but Emma is still tortured thinking of the reasons her people banished her three years ago. Moreover the mother of Ryder's child is back and she wants her child back. No matter how much a worthless mother she is, the law is clear. The mother can have the child, not the father.
Cosantir will need to make a judgment.

Another very good addiction to The Wild Hunt Legacy series. Emma was just lovely. And her lovestory was satisfyingly content.

If you love Cherish Sinclair's BDSM stories, you will love her shifters' stories too 😉

By far the best and my favourite in the series. I loved everything about this books. The male leads are amazing although littermates, Ryder made a mistake and choose a woman over his brother Ben. It cut and it cut deep. Ryder has come home to make amends, Ben doesn’t want to until he finds out that Ryder has a cub and he can’t help but let them with him.

Emma was banished from the territory that she grew up for no apparent reason well a tragic accident that was misconstrued. She left and lived in the woods a bear shifter for 3 years. Emma is such a strong heroine. She came out of a situation that would have broken most people. After saving human cubs from a hellhound and nearly dying she has no choice but to steal food from campers. Until Calum and Ben find her and her life changes.

This made my cold heart warm up.

"Mama!" Minette's yell silenced the lake clearing. Undoubtedly recognizing the cub's voice, Emma turned, eyes wide. Her drink tipped sideways, spillinh onto the gras until Angie righted it. The bard's voice, which normally could fill an entire room. emerged shaky. "Y-yes, my kitten?" "Tyler got Luke for his bodder. And Jamie is getting bodders and sisters from her mama's stomach. I want bodders, too."

This hit all my spots, hot alpha males - check, a strong yet vulnerable heroine – check, a cub in need of love – check, all three coming together and to heal one another – double check. I love the world created here so utterly unique and full of surprises but I really do hope that Ms. Sinclair will write more of the characters in the book. Owen and Gawain maybe?

Read it as it is the best. Yes, Eve I’m looking at you, lol.

Cherise Sinclair is one of my go-to authors: When I need a bit of BDSM, I never hesitate to go to Ms. Sinclair’s Shadowlands series, or her Masters of the Mountain or Dark Haven. The list goes on, but I know that she can craft a good story with some excellent smut. She definitely does the same with this shifter-centric ‘verse and I’m glad I read it.

Suffering, thy name is Emma: She has gone through some serious shyte in her life and basically, you just want to gather her up and wrap her in bunting and just protect her. So I completely understood why Ben and Ryder fell for her. Emma is almost perfectly perfect, even perfectly unassuming in her perfection.

Panthers and Bears, oh my: So, one of the things that I really enjoy about Ms. Sinclair is the setup for shifters and how it is possible to have a mix of shifters in one family. Ben and Ryder have the same mother, but different fathers. Ben’s grizzly, Ryder’s a panther, and they didn’t grow up together, but when they did reunite their bond was strong, until Ryder went off with a wolf, had a cub he didn’t know about and was basically lost without his brother. Ben’s the strong and silent one, and Ryder’s the “been burned by love and won’t do that again” hero.

The heat: So, in this version of shifters, they go into heat once a month and are required to attend a Gathering, where they can bang like bunnies and it’s all kosher, because it’s about making sure they don’t die out. It takes safe, sane and consensual to the shifter level, and not part of what you’d normally read in a shifter romance. It’s just different, though when they get to the mating, it’s definitely more possessive.

Could have been a historical triad: I think all the characters felt a bit idealized and sweet, like a fairy tale with hot sex. The formal speech at times seems better suited to a period piece than a contemporary shifter romance. I could easily see this as a historical with minor changes, because the shifters are so isolated. They live off the grid and use very little technology, and it’s very magical feel to it, including actual fairies and brownies and OtherFolk. All of this combined has a very specific feel to it, and perhaps not all readers would connect with the tale. This has alot of elements I enjoyed, so I had a good time reading it.

I enjoyed my little visit in this very unique version of a shifter ‘verse. It’s for a very particular taste, but if you like an unusual take on shifters, perfect heroines and heroes, and do not have issues with sharing, then you may enjoy this.

Werebears!!!! We have werebears!!! *squeals of delight*

Eventide of the Bear was so not what I was expecting but I loved it and had a blast as Emma, Ben, and Ryder get all domesticated without even realizing it.

Okay so the quick of it is that years ago Emma was banished by her town. She's lived alone in the woods and isn't allowed any contact with their kind because of what she'd done. But things change all up after she's seriously injured trying to save some human kids and the local shifter group discovers her existence. Until she's all healed up and they can figure out what to do with her? She's gonna be under the watchful eyes and paws of one of the single bears in town. And while all that healing happens and attraction starts to swirl about even more excitement lands on their door in the form of Ben's long estranged brother. Lots of growling, purring and maybe some petting ensue.

Sooo the players.

>>>Emma-- a lil' bear. I loved her. She's sweet and socially awkward from long term isolation and a horrible childhood. She had a soothing quality about her--she's a Bard after all--and has the gift of song and telling their kind's stories through words.

>>>Ben--a big ol' grizzly. He was solid and reliable and wanting roots despite being scared of them. I'd totally snuggle me some Ben.

>>>Ryder--kitteh shifter! I love kitty shifters and how sly they can be. He's a grumbler and wary of females and it took him a little time to warm up to their new life as he mended fences with his brother and dealt with a surprise of his own that changed everything.
The three were great together. They all had issues from poor upbringings--one had real mothers or stable households. The brothers had been torn apart by their separate fathers for most of their lives (they had the same mama but she passed when Ben was a babe). They all craved touch, belonging, stability and family. I loved seeing them heal each other and slowly become the family they all craved.

Now the heat! So I was totally expecting a really sexy menage romance. I mean. Hello! There's two cocked out heroes for the taking! Take em, lil' bear! Take em! lol And this is Sinclair who writes freaking HOT erotic romance (usually of the BDSM persuasion) But surprisingly this was a crazy PG read. Not even a kiss until about the 50% mark and then very little actual meeting of naughty bits. I think there were like three scenes. One with each brother individually and one as a pair. I'd be hard pressed to call it an erotic though which is kinda odd, right? This is NOT a bad thing though. I loved the romance between the three but was just surprised since I'm used to erotic from Sinclair. I'd put this pretty firmly in mainstream romance aside from the fact there are two lickable males.

Annnd the suspense. There was a little suspense happening with hell hound attacks and happenings in their pasts coming back to nip at them. It kept things interesting and moving along which was fun.

My only complaint was a couple consistency bits and what felt like the overuse of world specific exclamations/swears. I know that's a weird thing to note but it was to the point of distraction--by the gods, by the Hunter, by the Hunter's bow, by the fucking God of the fucking forest (okay, I liked that one lol), by Herne's hairy balls, by Herne's antlers, Herne help them, by Herne's heavy balls, Herne's hide and hooves, his holy prick, etc. It was, well, it stood out a little too much for me. A minor complaint for an overall fab read but one I thought should be noted.

All in all...No matter what Sinclair lays her hand on it's sure to delight and charm which was exactly the case with Eventide of the Bear. It was a shiftery good time as these three as they found romance and a place to call their own. Romance fans...prepare yourselves for a little happy sigh. These guys will surely earn it.

I've been waiting for this book for a long time and it's finally here.I have enjoyed it immensely but not as much as the previous books.Emma,Ryder and Ben were a good match,Cherise always creates beautiful characters and wonderful stories and this story is a perfect example of that.I felt very close to Emma, she's shy and vurnerable but she stands up and fights for the people she loves, sometimes her insecurities became a little annoying but i get where she's coming from.Thank god she had two amazing men that showed her how wonderful she is.
I can't wait for the next book lol

In the third book of the Wild Hunt Legacy, Cherise Sinclair delights readers with a sweet but sexy story about an injured werebear, a grizzly warrior and a panther shifter.

Sweet Emma was injured when she tried to save human children from being attacked by a hellhound. On the brink of death, she was found and taken in by Ben and his people until she fully heals. It’s at the same time that Ryder, the panther shifter returns after years of being away. This time though, he is not alone. He has brought his four-year-old daughter Minette with him after having learned about his daughter and taking her away from her abusive mother.

As you can tell, there’s plenty more going on in this story than just a hot time. All the characters have quite a bit of depth to them and that’s why this book felt more like a Paranormal Romance than just something sexy that we are used to from Sinclair. She actually takes a lot of time in this book, building up the relationships. I have to appreciate something like that because when you have three main characters, it’s can be a little more tricky to believe in their love in one another. But with these three, I really felt like they cared about each other by the end. The romance is very strong in this book and thus, it made for a very beautiful book.

In addition to that, Sinclair also has some terribly cute moments with Emma and Ben’s daughter, Minette. These were actually some of my favorite parts of the story because not only does it show the kindness in Emma’s heart but it also showed how she was able to gain Minette’s trust, and in turn, Ben’s trust as well. Since he is so wary of every female he meets after what had happened, this is an important part of the story.

Beautiful from start to finish, EVENTIDE OF THE BEAR has become my favorite of the series!

Emma the black bear, Ben the grizzly and Ryder the puma.
Ben and Ryder are litter mates but they had a falling out over mating 5 years ago. Ryder left town with the skank he wanted to mate (fortunately he never did) and is just now returning with his 4 year old daughter he'd just rescued from the skank. He's hoping for forgiveness, but he isn't anticipating Emma being there too.
Emma has been living in the wild for the last 3 years (she's probably just 23 now) when Ben and another town guard rescue her. She's staying with Ben until her leg is healed. But of course with the 3 of them and the daughter in the house, things get intimate. Not right away of course. They all have too many hang ups for that.

I liked that none of their hangups were what caused havoc before their HEA.
But I wasn't crazy that the evil OW was around for so much of the second half of the story.
And then there's all the hell hounds plaguing the area. No answers as to what's up with that though.

It gets a wee bit repetitive with their self pitying in their own heads. And the story felt too long.
But it was cute and I enjoyed it. I did skim a bit in the second half though.

Safety is pretty good

The Hs have different animals and fathers, but raised as brothers. The h has interiority complex and it's easy for an ex to make trouble. The sugary sweet suzie homemaker is OTT, but I still enjoyed it.

Cherise found a small town, somewhere secluded in the mountains, where a shifter community lives. She decided to tell their stories and the result is....fascinating.
The men are dominant, naturally, but they share their woman as well.
Cherise knows just how to do their stories justice and once you get to know them,i'm sure you'll agree.

In Eventide of the Bear,we have not only a bard that’s been alone for 3 years after her first Gathering ended in disaster.
We also have two littermates that haven’t seen eachother for 5 years because one was sure he’d never be able to have children, and the other was blinded by lust at that time.
But as soon as Ryder’s mind cleared,he knew that bitch Genevieve only loved one person….herself.
Finding out he’d fathered a child with her, finding out she abused the little kitten, meant he now headed towards Ben to see if he could rebuild their bond.
Only,it turned out Ben wasn’t living alone….he had company….another bear was living with him.
A female that pretended she needed care….and his littermate was falling for it!
Oh,she acted all sweet and shy,but he knew females couldn’t be trusted…..right?
He sure wouldn’t fall for it,and he’d do his best to keep his little girl safe from her manipulations.

After Emma’s first Gathering ended in the death of her Cosantir’s son,she was banished.
Forced to live alone, she ended up living in the mountains, surviving on whatever she could find.
But when she witnessed a family being slaughtered by a hellhound, she couldn’t allow it to kill the children as well, and she payed for it….
With her leg badly injured, she knew her end was coming, and she was ok with it.
Being alone for 3 years was long enough, and this injury might not have killed her straight away, but it wasn’t helping her survive….
Her past was painful and lonely enough, her own mother never loved her,and she’d been bullied for being too big, too….much a bear before she’d been forced to leave.
She was ready to throw in the towel, and give up.
So,when the Cosantir of the territory she was in,caught her,she asked him to return her to the Mother.
Only to be stunned to hear he didn’t agree, and instead told the bear with him to care for her.

Ben was horrified to hear how the sweet bear they caught had been injured.
Hearing she’d been living in the mountains, alone, was breaking his heart.
Why would she have chosen to do that,or better yet, what forced her?
And why was she afraid to let him close?
His littermate returning with a kid didn’t make life easier….even if they managed to clear the air between them.
Because Ryder was weary of Emma even though she obviously cared about Minette.
Until Ryder started to see Emma for the sweet, shy bard she was.
One with a big heart for little Minette,Ben and Ryder….
What a shame he was too big to even consider a future,to even think about fathering children of his own….

But the past has a way of catching up with you,and in this case it was not just Emma’s,but Ryder’s as well…
Would they still be standing when the dust finally settled?
Could these damaged souls finally get what they all needed, and deserved?
A family to call their own,in a town filled with friends?

With their combined traumas, this was a rough road towards the happiness that i was so very glad to find at the end.
I cried with them,i cheered them on,enjoyed the beautiful moments, and was ready to fight for them when they needed it.
In short, this was a story that i enjoyed from start to finish, just as i did all the times i read it before.

The Romance Review

Mine is the second review

Where have I been that I did not read this series? A devoted fan of Ms. Sinclair's kinky Gateway to BDSM stories, her paranormal books win me over a second time. After reading this book, I rushed to purchase the first two books so I can read them. I read this book as a standalone and was fine following it. I will be going back to read the first two books in the series. For readers who have never read any shifter books, this is an excellent series to start. Or I should say, this is a good Gateway to Shifter Romance.

Emma may come from a wealthy background with a strict mother, but she is poor in love and friends. This is a particularly dangerous deficit to have, when one is a shifter. As a bear shifter, young Emma is solitary and shy. When she tries her first mating orgy without any preparation, disaster strikes. Forced to live away from all others, Emma should have perished. Emma may be quiet, but she is a fighter.

I loved the characters in this story. Ms. Sinclair is gifted in her character creations. I loved Emma, Ben and Ryder. Each of these are characters who tug at one's heart string. They are all good people with a troubled past. These characters and their trauma could be trite. Ms. Sinclair writes it with a fresh viewpoint and pulls the reader deep under her spell. Emma is the tenderhearted innocent female who only wants to be accepted and loved. Ben is the one left behind and trying to make a life without his beloved brother. Ryder is the prodigal brother who returns with a small adorable female cub in tow.

This story could just be a happy ménage, but it is much more. The reader travels to a world where different animal shifters comingle. There are packs and there are alliances. Magic is involved with a goddess and god's blessings. Hellhounds are to be fought. Betrayals are revealed. Love lost is found.

This is a rich story with plot, character development and a dangerous supernatural world. This is a pageturner which kept my attention from the first few pages. This story is highly recommended to ménage readers who enjoy paranormal romance and want it all.

Thank You, Mrs Sinclair. Yes, thank you for the great time I spent reading your story. Eventide of the Bear.

I know the author, Cherise Sinclair, for quite a while. The first book I read from her was Hour of a Lion from the same series which I totally loved. I meant to read Winter of the Wolf which was #2, and somehow never read it. Now, I have no good reason to do not do it because this series totally rocks!

Cherise Sinclair is one of the rare author I decided to know better and read her MF stories, mostly BDSM. Master of the Mountain (Mountain Masters, #1), is still in my eyes not only memorable but definitely extremely well written and I do remember that I could not put this book down. But I also read some menage as If Only which I gave also a 5 stars.

Anyway, today is all about Eventide of the Bear but just wanted to praise this author. She is one of the rare author that I can blindly buy any book of hers and know that it will be a great read. My only issue is that this author write too many MF and not enough menages. HA!

This story is a long novel. The kind I totally enjoy because it gives me time to know the characters well, know them intimately inside and out. For me it is truly the cherry on top of the cake to be able to fall for the characters and to relate to them. Mrs Sinclair know how to translate characters of fiction into almost real people because the emotions you feel are definitely real page after page.

It is so precious to read a story and laugh and cry and smile and just read without a minute of boredom. I love this feeling, way too rare for my taste.

The heroine is sweet and almost innocent but somehow she is not the boring type. She is just naive because she had a very lonely childhood and everything she learned was biased for lack of knowledge and experience. So everything said for her was truth. And everything she experienced was painful because she did not have comparison to help her. I truly liked her.

The males were also very lovable. They were different from one another. But what I liked the most is that they both had their own story, their own individuality, their own personality. Priceless! Honest to Gawd, how many times I am complaining about it? Way way too many times! It is SO refreshing to read distinct stories for each main characters. How can I relate to characters if both males are identical and do everything together, are at the same place together, thinking the same thing all the time, etc? It does not make sense at all. Fiction, I understand. Non credible, I do not. Something I particularly loved here was the non macho ways to act with the heroine. It was sweet but not too sweet.

So this book is the journey of a woman who was bullied, lonely and cast out because nobody took the time to know her. I truly loved her journey. This character was charming and lovable. The plot was well written and escalated at the right places. Yes, I know villains were coming up but it was just at the right time because I fell in love with the characters first.

I also liked the little girl. She was very present but never over the top. It was not a mommy/daddies story. It was just people who fell in love and built a family unit.

So what I did not like? Not much. I would say that maybe the sex scenes were a bit too tame for me?

I truly enjoyed this story. I am so happy I read it. I recommend this book 100%. Will also put it on my re-read list for sure :)

This is what I've come to, skimming past the sex scenes because enough already.

I cannot with Sinclair's BDSM books (Club Shadowlands and others) because after a couple years of BDSM being a scandalous novelty I'm just so done. The Wild Hunt books, thankfully, have perfectly respectable boy/girl/boy menage sex between various animal shifters. Like you get.

But--this is the third book in the series and they're getting too samey. If you've gone to the trouble of creating a vaguely celtic mythology and pantheon, don't make every book the same kind of Big Misunderstanding soapy drama.

This book was so close to awesome it was a tragedy. I'm giving it a 2-star rating, but it's 2 going on 5 because there's so much POTENTIAL here. And I was really, really into it at first. I though I was heading for a 5-star review with the caveat that it needed a copy edit (because it does) but roundabout halfway through the plot began to fall apart. Most of the tension introduced in the first part of the book, the tension that so compelled me, had been resolved. The romantic tension was non-existent because they all loved each other but were waiting to say the words. They weren't even refusing to admit it to themselves, just not quite ready. I assume the ready part came when it was convenient?

The main tension running through the last half of the book had to do with the cub one of the two males in this threesome took from his mother. He was afraid she would ruin their happiness, but I never thought for a moment that any of their nightmare scenarios would happen, or were even likely. The solution came down to ... let's talk. My goodness, their society has a TRUTH TELLER so I just had a hard time buying any of it.

But truthfully, the main problem was a plotting issue and what this book needed was a developmental editor to point these issues out to the author and help her redraft in such a way that the tension stayed strong until the end. There were many boring, slow chapters in here in which nothing happened. A lot of internal monologues that could go. And most of all, the problem that began the book -- the banishment followed by 3 years in the woods -- needed to have been wrapped up at the end instead of the midpoint. This is a pretty basic structure guideline -- one that promotes tension and that follows through on the implicit promise the author makes in the first couple of chapters. This book was supposed to have been about a woman who was unfairly banished from her clan. But instead ... it read like a rough draft. There are editors who specialize in helping fix these kinds of problems (I'm one of them). And so I find myself disappointed because a little extra attention to this book would have made it awesome.

Although ... as long as I'm on the subject ... there's something that's been bothering me about the world-building that I need to get off my chest. The Gatherings. One night per month of indiscriminate sex designed to promote genetic diversity and to ensure the survival of the species. Fine, I'll buy that. But I don't buy that the ensuing purely capitalistic model of clan life would work. You've got a society full of single mothers -- and not just of single children but of LITTERS of children -- and men who can do whatever the heck they want. No investment. No pain. No emotional attachment. No responsibility -- financial or emotional.

It's not easy to raise kids within a relationship. To do it alone ... I know women manage it every day but I can only think wow. And in this society, they're doing that on purpose -- getting women pregnant then thinking that the women should be responsible for themselves and the cubs without emotional support and with little financial support. They even went into what the wolf pack offered their single moms -- baby-sitting and free meals at the diner in exchange for washing dishes. Oh great! No problem them. I'll just be responsible for myself, my kids, and the future of my clan and work a full time job while I'm at it.

Genevieve was a horrible person in this book, but she was made out to be a minority -- a female who would hurt her cub. Given the structure of the clan, I don't buy it. Lots of women are probably going to end up abusing their cubs, either due to resentment at the unfair burden laid upon them or due to abject poverty or due to an emotional breakdown.

Whew. I've been holding all that in for a couple of books now. :) But that's a series issue, only tangentially related to my main concern in this book which was: It needed 2-3 more rounds of editing, including big picture/conceptual editing.

I can’t tell you how freaking thrilled I was when I saw that Eventide of the Bear was out. Four years is a long time to wait between books in a series but I fell in love with the group of shifters in the first two books in The Wild Hunt Legacy series so I’m just glad we got another book. The series revolves around the town of Cold Creek, a place that does the absolute best job of welcoming lost shifters in dire need of a home.

Emma, a bear shifter and the heroine of our story, had been unfairly banished from her territory and survived three years on her own in the wilderness. Unfortunately after being gravely wounded by a hellhound she finds herself starving and is caught trying to steal food by Alec and Calum (heroes of the first book in the series, Hour of the Lion). Brought to Cold Creek to heal, it soon becomes apparent that she is in dire need of healing from more than her physical injuries. A sheltered upbringing with a self absorbed mother hated by all in her town, and then 3 years alone in the wilderness leaves Emma not knowing how to deal with people. Although lost and naive, but she grew on me as her strength of character shone through. By the end of the book she had completely won me over with her quiet ways as she stole the entire towns heart.

Ben was my favorite of all three of our main characters though. A lovable and quite funny bear shifter, you just knew that underneath all that humor was a broken heart that I wanted to see healed. Abandoned by his litter mate, he made a life for himself in Cold Creek as a Cahir. Ben had to learn that he could be whole again, but he also needed to learn how to forgive.

Ryder was the hardest for me to get behind after I learned the history of what happened with Ben. Having absolute crap taste in women, he left Ben for the horrid Genevieve but soon learned that Ben had been right about her the whole time. Instead of going back to Ben though, he left for a different territory. Once someone let him in on the secret that Genevieve had his child and was abusing her, he quickly went and got his little girl and went in search of Ben. Ryder’s story is not only the story of finding a home, but one of redemption. He needed to not only redeem himself to himself, but find a way to get Ben to forgive him too.

The journey that these three make as they find their way home is as sweet as it is tough. Lot’s of hurt, fear, and a big secret are in the way of their happy ever after. Thank goodness a very special little girl and the members of the quirky town of Cold Creek is there to hold them up and surround them with their love and support as they find their way home.

Spice’s Rating: 4.5 I’ve Waited A Long Time For This Book Stars

I am a HUGE Wild Hunt fan as well as this author's fan as well. However this wasn't her strongest book in the series. It was super boring due to the immense amount of internalizing. I prefer a bit more dialogue and less dissection into the surroundings. Emma was banished from her clan due to a miss understanding, and at her first Gathering. She's been living in the wilderness for 3 years alone. Most shifters die from the loneliness, but not Emma because she was already alone before that happened. Now the vast majority of the book is in Emma's POV and has her insecurities, her issues and her dissection. I often read this author because she weaves a great story with some hot sex...except in this book. Due to what happened at Emma's first Gathering we don't get many intimate moments like we did in the previous books of this series. Not only that but Emma claims to love them way early in the book, but the feelings aren't shown.

I felt the book took an entirely too long time to conclude the story especially where Genevieve is concerned. Genevieve is Ryder's ex whom he had a child he didn't know about with. His child, Minette, is only 4 years old and Genevieve was a shitty mom to her who manipulated the old clan Ryder was part of into believing he beats on females and cubs. Which is not true. To Genevieve hunts him down in Cold Creek and wrecks havoc in his life once again. It drove me nuts how long this took to play out but also how some people treated Ryder after this came about. It just took too long.

The book had potential but overall this wasn't the best in the series. However I will still read move from this author and more from this particular series.

Amazing as always. Cherise definitely knows how to write a story and this one is no different. The perfect combination of whit, romance, and heat that is sure to satisfy any PNR erotic romance lover. A definite recommended read.

I loved the emotional shifts in Emma, Ryder, and Ben’s relationship as the story progressed and I adored Ryder’s 4 year old daughter Minette and her own journey away from an abusive mother. What made this story seem different from the first two books was the lack of multiple sex scenes. I don’t mean that in a bad way. Sinclair can write some pretty hot scenes after all, so to have this change up was a nice surprise. As it stands, the story was compelling enough with the emotional healing Emma, Ryder, and Ben had to figure out before they could become a family unit. It was very clear sex wasn’t going to be a crutch to make anybody feel briefly good about themselves. Instead, it was the old fashioned route of quiet encouragement, constant physical touches to reaffirm feelings, and a warm presence of hope that would help heal these three broken souls.

A sweet bear shifting heroine, two protectively intelligent shifter heroes, a meddling town of friends, and one tiny sprite who will steal your heart away, Eventide of the Bear was by far my favorite in the Wild Hunt Legacy series! The romance was a quiet passion that pulled me in from the start. Add in warm, supportive secondary characters, a nutty ex-girlfriend, a couple of hellhounds to hunt, and a nice touch of humor that rounded out an engaging plot!

I really felt for Emma and her traumatic introduction to Gatherings. She didn't have many reasons to trust, but slowly Ben is able to get in there.
Ben and Ryder also have some major issues to deal with and the slow-build to this triad was warranted. Minette was adorable.

I didn’t enjoy this anywhere near as much as the first & second book. There was zero chemistry & nothing about Emma that really made me like her. I could see why the reader was supposed to feel for her but I couldn’t bring myself to care. It also felt like Ben’s feelings for her came out of nowhere with minimal build or effort but at the same time it seemed to drag until they eventually got together quite late in the book. I will likely read the last book, I just hope this was a blip in the series.

Emma had a tough upbringing, her mother approved of nothing, and kept Emma secluded in their home. When Emma is about to experience her first Gathering, tragedy happens, and she´s Banished.
Fleeing to the woods, she has no choice but to try and survive on her own.
When Ben finds himself host to a hurt female, he can´t help but fall for this damsel in distress. And when his littermate Ryder comes back with a cub in tow, the family is complete. But can they make a life together, or will past ghosts come back to haunt them?
PNR romance, suspense and emotions in an awesome combo. Love this series!
Tissue warning for Emma´s beginning and life *sniffles* Happy to see her HEA =)

I found that I liked this one way more than the second book. This one was much easier to read. There was still their own language and stuff, which I picked up more in this book then the last but it seemed there was less jumping around. The story flowed much easier and I found myself enjoying every page. I loved that Emma went through so much only to find her footing a rise if the top. I truly found myself really enjoying this book. Sad it's the last one in thus series.

Unlike the previous books, the heroes of book 3 are all carrying heavy baggage. The level of angst is high, and the amount of sex is low. But the story is really good.

In addition, we learn a lot more about the lunar orgies and the make-up and interactions of the various shifter communities.

It is not clear if there will be another book in this series, but I will read it if there is.

Well written story, even if it reached pretty high on the Disney scale.
That's probably why the author chose not to actually include a scene where Emma sang to the pixies.
I found Emma more grounded and relatable than the previous main characters, although she was a bit flighty, but fully understandable considering her upbringing.
