Three men who happen to be thirty years my senior are exactly the men I want. The men I need. And to my luck, they need me just as much. Our love is sick, twisted, and nothing for the faint of heart.
This is a dark and taboo duet. (This book contains both forbidden & baby bird)
Seven Rue is an international bestselling author. Born and raised in a small town by the Lake of Constance in Switzerland, she loves writing books that not only make hearts melt but also push limits. When she's not writing, you can find her on long walks with her pup, Bowie, or kicking around a ball on the soccer field.
This is a boxset of the novellas Forbidden and Baby Bird by this author, and I read it in Kindle Unlimited. The forbidden/taboo and age gap aspects I love, and the sex scenes are hot, but the writing is not good quality (and it needs to be proofread). There is no depth to the story at all; there is just a very light framework around the hot scenes. I never felt any emotion between the characters and never felt like I knew who they were or much about them at all. It is super fast paced so I would say if you wanted super fast burn, sex scenes with a taboo flavor (nobody is blood related) then you could read for that.
I love some good taboo stories- and I started reading this author after fellow taboo lovers recommended her, comparing her to all time favorites like K Webster or CL Matthews. I’ve liked a few of her newer works (they are super kinky), and I decided to come back to this one since it sounded right up my alley. Unfortunately, this wasn’t my favorite. The architecture of the story is great- a much younger girl in a very taboo poly situation with her adopted father, his best friend/ her “uncle”, and a fellow friend who also happens to be married. Young and virgin, age gap taboo- GIMME GIMME. And, the sexual side of this was HOT. Seven sure and right some scoring scenes and some sexual tension. Despite Birdie seeming a bit beyond her innocent characterization, that part of the book was good, kinky fun.
For me this fell short in the actual story/emotion, though. The taboo is steamy and kinky and all kinds of titillating- just as I expected, but it feels provocative for provocative sake, erotic without any heart. Unlike K Webster/CL Matthews- this doesn’t quite deliver on the emotional tension and the character depth. I don’t know who this characters are outside of their attraction to each other, and we don’t get much drama/emotional angst as it relates to them confronting the taboo nature of their evolving relationship- the turmoil, the risk, an evolving emotional chemistry that shifts from family to lovers- none of that. There isn’t even much story or any conflict- just kinky sex. Which is fine- I dig it- but unlike some of this author’s other stories, it lacked the substance or depth, reading more like erotic short than a fully developed story- and it does well at that, just wasn’t what I was hoping for. But, if you want a less substantive, quick and erotic taboo read, this will do the trick.
I ended up reading this one because book 2 got banned from Amazon. I had already read book 1.
Book 1, was interesting. In the seven Rue style ... it was sweet. Birdie is a sweet girl with some not so sweet desires. Luke...his character was something that kind of took a star off for me. Yes, I understand his attraction to birdie. Yes, I see how this can work.
... But folks...he was still married. mm Hmm. Take that as you will.
Besides this fact, it was all sweet. Birdie was a very accommodating girl for her age and for her to be a virgin, I must say.
Book 2, now this is where my stars start tapering. Birdie is prego. Who's the daddy? Mauri, where you at? But birdie doesn't care. The only thing she really cares about... is if it's Theo's because he loves his bachelor lifestyle and he aint ready for that kind of commitment.
Okay, I get it. Some bachelors are like that. But then, Theo does something that kind of makes the story sour for me.
It ends in a HEA...but that Theo though.
I think the story had potential after the first book. But book 2 took it somewhere I didn't like. Yes, it does end on an upbeat. Everyone's happy as a button. But ... it seemed ... juvenile for Theo.
During the first book she had such a brazen pick me attitude that it almost ruined it completely for me. For somebody not to respect somebody else’s marriage even before they know that it’s not a good one is just not something that I can get on board with when she’s already having sex with her adoptive father as well as his friend. The thirst is fucking real. She had absolutely no shame which sometimes isn’t a bad thing but the way that she went about it in this book was just not my cup of tea.
The second book does get better but by no means does this have reverse harem qualities for me. While she seems to have an emotional connection to some extent with all of the guys she’s only in an official relationship with one of them so it’s almost like an open relationship where she is with other people. I am still happy about the spice because like always was seven real it is top tier but beyond that there weren’t many redeeming qualities.
Birdie is the first book I read by Seven Rue and I was very pleased with it, I flew trough the pages cause' I couldn't stop reading. The book is about a young girl Birdie, that ends up loving and having sex with 3 older men, 2 of them being her (not biological) dad and uncle. And well, it was super hot and sexy 🤤🔥 I also enjoyed the characters, mostly Birdie, Rhett and Luke. The book didn't really have a plot, it was just pure smut with a little drama, but I didn't care for the lack of it, because I just loved reading about the reverse harem & older men fantasies of mine coming to life on paper, I never read something like this before. Women are often shamed for liking such books, but I don't care, love those taboo sexy books and I am not ashamed. None of you should be! Thank you Seven, for writing about such topics, I can't wait to read more of your books, Raw is next 💋
My first book by this Author and it was so hot. It was my first book that held this type of story and it was really a hot one. Looking forward to more from this Author.
So I kinda dnf-ed the 1st book in Birdie duet, aa I Haven't picked it up since Oct last year...So when I start it again, it'll be a fresh. So putting it's boxset on dnf too. As it's not read yet.
Calling all age-gap, forbidden book lovers.. this is for you.
I ordered myself a signed copy of this without knowing anything about the book itself.
I started it and finished it all in one sitting because THAT is just how friggen good and HOT this book was.
Birdie is young and has a thing for older men, 3 to be exact and 2 of them being her (not biological) dad and uncle... who are, STUDS. like.. hello, i'm throbbing, i'm soaked and drooling. her uncle has a friend he brings over one night and well.. lets just say.. we love some group action, the more the merrier, right?
this book is mostly pure smut, but we get some plot as well, we get some tough choices that characters need to make. but in the end it was all wrapped up beautifully.
I haven't read a book by Seven Rue yet, that I haven't loved.
Seggs seggs seggs. And here I thought Luke's gonna be the game changer. Ugh! I really don't have any triggers and this one passed my vibe check. However I really limit my age-gap to atleast 20-22 years, that's it. But this one got 30+ years age-gap and I can't help thinking: "Wow, Birdie's gonna have 2 reserves when one of them died of old age or when two of the guys would have limp dicks by how slutty and insatiable Birdie is." Huh.
📌Rhett - Daddy (No blood relation; adopted Birdie from her dead junkie mom when she was a baby. Fucked Birdie when she was 17 and couldn't wait for a few months until she turned 18. (Oh well, took him long enough.) 📌Theodore - Uncle (Pseudo Uncle; Rhett's bestfriend; doesn't want kids but kept on unloading his cum inside Birdie (Like WTF? Cover it up then. Gosh.) 📌Luke - Married with Kids (Rhett & Theodore's friend; sweet but dumb, and old. Yeah.)
I have to start off by saying this book is DEFINITELY taboo. I haven't read anything like this since my younger teenage years on Wattpad. That being said I enjoyed this book more than I expected.
I believe I may have enjoyed this book partially due to the nostalgia of reading similar taboo books when I was 13/14 years old. It may also be due to the fact that when reading you see that Birdie does initiate everything so you don’t feel like you're reading a story about a 17yr old being groomed.
For anybody that decides to look closer at my profile, they might see that this book is on my ‘DNF’ shelf. I will expand on my reasons however, they do include spoilers for the very end of book 1.
Due to this not being an issue in editing, plot, or character development and just my own taste this issue has not affected my rating. 3 stars are my average rating for short books that are decent but not life-changing and has very little character development.
So I have a lot of conflicting feelings about this book. I actually really liked part one, I thought it was spicy, interesting, easy to read, and enjoyable. I had a lot of expectations going into part two and unfortunately I felt more annoyed than anything while reading the second book. I personally liked Rhett the most the entire time. He may have been the one to raise her so their relationship may have been the most taboo but in my opinion he was the most likable and had the best relationship with Birdie. Here’s where I’ll say to pause because I have spoilers ahead. IN 3…2…1…
Okay, so I liked Luke when I first met him. I liked how he was more reserved because he was married but my like for him quickly vanished and I honestly disliked him the most through the majority of the book. I personally don’t love the cheating trope but I can understand it when the marriage is bad and the spouse is not a good partner or person. So I didn’t mind it in his case until they decided to start a romantic relationship point five seconds after meeting. I didn’t like how cavalier Birdie was about pursuing a married man and I didn’t like how surface level Luke was about his diminished feelings for his wife. I also didn’t like how casually they tried to hook up in his house while his kids and wife were upstairs. For me I feel like Luke was supposed to be this good guy and super lovable but I just despised him. I also struggled a lot with the way Birdie idealized him. I understand why she loved him and wanted to move in with him but I hated how Rhett was made to be this partner that only wanted to hook up with her. From my pov he was the best guy to her the whole time and their relationship was dismissed while Luke was made to be this wonderful partner. Maybe it’s just me but I wouldn’t want Luke as my partner or co parent because he wasn’t very active in his kids lives. They were there but he was more enamored with Birdie and her baby than he was with his own kids and I don’t think he was a very good father. I think Rhett and Birdie could’ve had a lovely story without Luke or Theo if they had been given the chance to explore more than just a sexual relationship. I was glad the baby was his because I didn’t like Luke as a dad and Theo was a giant douchebag. I’m sorry but you’re a grown ass man. Grow the hell up, you’re not a college student or a young adult anymore, suck it up and be a good partner. You had unprotected sex so stop being a POS and support your girl the way you should. In the end I guess it had a decent ending but I think she should’ve cut off Theo because the things he said were so messed up and unforgivable. I would’ve preferred for the story to be a taboo romance with Birdie and Rhett and more in depth about their relationship because Theo and Luke were unnecessary to me. I didn’t like how Birdie went from this free spirit to being totally entranced with Luke and ultimately immediately forgiving to Theo. That was disappointing for me. Theo deserved to grovel and I feel like there was nothing special about Birdies personality once she got in deep with Luke there was nothing special about any of the characters other than their relationship with each other. Other Seven Rue books I’ve read were pretty good but this one just didn’t do it for me after part one. If your looking for easy, smutty, and light surface level storylines then I recommend it but if your wanting more in depth story telling this one didn’t hit the mark.

I like a good spicy smut book as much as the next girl. But my god. There were several things wrong (in my opinion) about the book. Firstly, let me start with the good aspects. This book had great spicy scenes, and I liked getting to know each character. Okay, moving on to the negatives! BE WARNED: She was 17 with 3 older men. AT LEAST MAKE HER 18!!!! But no! She was a junior in high school fucking her dad (step-father), uncle (step-father's best friend), and another of the mens best friend. I find it kinda weird that the "dad" raised her since a baby. The author made it very clear there's no manipulation, sexual assault, pressure, or anything of that matter. But, was still kinda weird. I like taboo, don't get me wrong, but it just didn't sit right with me. Next, there is no plot. Unless you count her being pregnant and the suspense of who the father is as a plot. I would expect something more, like them getting caught and police involved, or something. Nope, this is just a sex book and an accidental pregnancy trope. Don't get me started on the characters. One of the men was MARRIED!!! with 2 KIDS!!! and he cheated!!!! WITH HER!!! I want to slam the book down. I don't agree with cheating in any nature, then later in the book we find out that his wife cheated on him before he had sex with the FMC, did it make it better? Not really. Cheating is cheating, even if the marriage is bad. It was bad but not abusive bad. *Sigh* I wouldn't recommend this, but if youre into the accidental, cheating, and etc. trope, by all means this book is for you. Personally, i don't agree with it. But it was good for what it was.
Alright Birdie... this book was 🔥🔥🔥! Theirs no doubt about that. Birdie is homeschooled and has always had a thing for older guys. She doesn’t really get along with people her own age. Something clicks for her one day and she starts to see her non-blood related Uncle Theo in a new light. Things start developing and soon Uncle Theo starts to see little Birdie in a new light too. Same thing starts to happen with the man that raised her. Also not actually blood related at all, but the man Birdie calls “Dad”....things start to heat up between the 3 and they essentially start this pact between the 3 of them..... then “Dads” friend Luke comes over and the 3 just became a 4 and then a big ol bomb 💣 is dropped!
I thought some of the story seemed rushed. I also was a little confused with how Birdie and Lukes relationship was so much more than Theos and Rhetts. The whole Bradley situation really threw me and I wanted more on that. Like, wtf!? Did Theo and Rhett really truly have feelings for Birdie in that way or was it just because they had practically raised her so it was just (that) kind of love? I would have liked more clarity on that.
This book definitely is a must read for the taboo lovers. I have never read any books by this author before and am excited to read more. I do love how an author can write about such subjects and make the not-normal seem weirdly ok. Lol. You will not be disappointed.
Okay, as far as a taboo book goes, this was amazing. It didn’t just have a step dad element. He actually raised. He had adopted her. Overall it was a really good, really intense, fast read.
Few issues though. There were quite a few typos, this is NOT a reverse harem, and I’m super disappointed in the “relationship” aspect. Birdie is only in a relationship with one of them. The other two definitely do not love her or want her in a long term, serious relationship thing, they just enjoy using her for their pleasure, which is cool, because she’s into that, but this shouldn’t be labeled as a reverse harem. Although, what Theo said to her was disgusting. It’s one thing to call someone names while you’re getting it on, if you’re into that sort of thing, but what he did was straight up hateful. Then he ghosted everyone for a month and she wasn’t even truly upset or mad? Makes zero sense. Especially with her not only being so young, but hormonal too.
Overall, it’s a good read, I’d recommend it, but I’d also prefer for thing to have been more realistic, leveled properly, and the typos to have been fixed.
When I tell you I didn’t want to go to sleep and I didn’t want to go to work, I mean it. This book had me by the throat as much as it had Birdies. If you know what I mean.
I have read many forbidden reads and have tried to dabble a little more forbidden than what I’m used to. This book was it!!!
When I tell you I was flustered, I was giggling like a schoolgirl, and my eyebrows were etched up to my forehead, I’m not lying. The smut was on FIRE! The dirty talk was on FIRE!
I do want to mention that I’m very wary about underage relationships when I’m reading. What I will say about this is that consent is always very clear. Nothing moves forward or starts until Birdie initiates it. I felt so much better that they ask and they want to make sure before going ahead.
Birdie is mature. She has been through a lot in her life. From her mother. To her surgery. She’s grown up fast. I really liked how passionate and caring she was.
Rhett, Theo, and Luke were all FINNNNEEE! They all had some amazing qualities but also had some ehhh qualities.
SPOILERS ahead -
I’ve already told you what I loved. But I do want to mention what made me drop a star. I disliked that Luke was married. He immediately goes to Birdie to step out of his marriage. Cheating is just not my cup of tea. BUT, I still kept reading.
I hated how much I fell in love with Theo. Then to make me want to hurt him. Yes, he was a complete savage and I laughed so hard when he said what he said. Yet, I wanted to slap him. Then to have him apologize. The apology didn’t even seem sincere. It seemed like “oh I’m sorry… can I get back in bed with you”. BUT, once again, I still kept reading.
Rhett was iffy for me. I loved that Birdie called him out on how he treated her. How he just used her to get off and then when another man comes in and tries to take her away, he goes all caveman on her. He wanted to act like he was okay with everything, but we all know he was secretly hoping that the baby was his.
My biggest complaint about the book is the reverse harem situation. Yes, this book does have 1 girl and 3 guys. Yes, they all share. BUTTTT. During part of the book, it seemed certain that Birdie wanted to choose. I felt like she was ready to move on and live her life with one of them. Granted she still wanted to have all of them at times, it was pretty clear that she only truly loved one of them in that kind of way.
At the end of the day, a lot of those complaints are based upon my own dislikes and my opinion. The writing was good. The plot and idea was good! I still loved this book. I still enjoyed reading it. I never wanted to quit reading it. I still recommend reading this. Just make sure you’re okay with the forbidden and age gap.

Give me all the taboo, give me all the age gap possible! Birdie knows what she wants and she lets the people she's interested in know! All the scenes were HOT.
Theo did not hesitate to jump in when the opportunity (that is to say, Birdie) presented itself. I liked the fact that it was kind of a secret at the beginning, but then when Rhett was in, with his kind of possessive side, it was magic. Luke kind of came late to the party but I really enjoyed his character, he's really sweet.
In the second book, I was really scared Birdie and the men wouldn't end up together. I guess in a way it showed a different , maybe more realistic perspective on the whole RH thing since it was not all rainbows and sunshine and there were some tensions and totally opposite opinions on the whole baby subject.
Cannot wait to dive in another one of Seven Rue's books!
Let me start by saying yes this is totally taboo/forbidden story but nobody is blood related. Birdie is attracted to three men thirty years older than her and one of them being the man who raised her. Their chemistry is undeniable, unconventional, forbidden steamy and oh so hot that leads to them all in love with Birdie. She falls in love with each one but is "in love" with Luke which I found myself thinking why was her relationship so much different than with Rhett and Theo? Then later in the book I was quite confused by Theo's behavior. She is quite forgiving of him. If you enjoy forbidden, age gap, taboo books then this 🔥 duet is just the book for you!
Before I started this book I knew it would be taboo and graphic! It’s not only an age gap book, Rhett, while not biologically her father, brought her up from birth and had a father role in Birdie’s life. The age gap didn’t particularly bother me, it was a little odd until she turned 18 but not massively.
The reason why I’ve given this book 3 stars is that it was all smut. The general storyline was okay but nothing new or exciting! There was more sex than storyline so I found it really difficult to connect to any of the characters.
The duet together ends nicely and with a happy ending! It was generally a good read and if you’ve read this author’s books before you’d enjoy this too!
This is the third time I've tried writing a review but my internet is being a pain. Anyway, here we go again.
I have nearly given up getting through this three times now. First because I'm tired of super rich characters in general. It's lazy. Second, Seven Rue is mediocre at best when it comes to writing dialogue. I always manage to forget in between picking up one of her books. And now the third strike is that everyone is so damn juvenile. A 37 year old man whining about the ol ball and chain is so boomer. They're your kids dude, figure it out and quit screwing with your wife's schedule because it's there for a reason.
And what was with that throwaway ending? Oh, by the way this is what happened and then the end. The only interesting part and it was literally the end.
Oh, Seven, she is definitely not for everyone! If you have an open mind and don't mind some taboo - give her a go. You won't regret it.
She will constantly push your boundaries (though I didn't find this one 𝘵𝘩𝘢𝘵 bad - not when you compare it to her book Raw lol) and she will give you some proper steamy sex scenes. I loved Birdie, and I liked the fact she knew what she wanted and went fuck it I'm going for it.
There was only two small things I wasn't a huge fan of. One being Luke still being married, just not into the cheating ya know? And I didn't like what Theo said to her.
But hey - they're two small things and I'm just slowly becoming an even 𝙗𝙞𝙜𝙜𝙚𝙧 fan of hers!
Ah, HELL NO. I mean the book was good for the most part. Definitely spice driven.
BUT… can we talk about Theo? That asshole didn’t grovel neaaarrrlyyyy enough for my liking. Don’t get me wrong, she definitely acts like a hoe-hoe, but that man looked a pregnant woman that he ‘loved,’ and was possibly carrying his child, straight in the eyes and called her a slut for letting multiple men fuck her.
EXCUSEEE MEEE? He literally was there for it and was allllllll about it. Ugh, this man had no redemption for me. He needed to grovel WAY more. She just accepted him back with his pitiful flowers A MONTH LATER. Hell no.
Okay, that’s all.

This book definitely lit my phone up. The smut was actually good (although proof reading could’ve been better).
Birdie was dirty through and through and I loved it.
Rhett had my heart from the start (and I have a thing for daddies). Luke very much loved her and I liked how their relationship progressed. Theodore... down much to say.. he was her first but of course he made me mad.
This book is not for everyone but it surely was for me. I’m interested in reading more from this author and am happy that this was recommended to me.

This duet is one of my all time faves from Seven Rue. The level of taboo was just right for me. I love birdie and her free spirit. The love and devotion mixed woth her wanton free spirit makes for an ourstanding female main character. While I love Rhett and his daddy ways there is just something so genuine and heart felt from Luke that stole my heart. Theo is the one I love to hate and hate to love but the two go hand in hand. This is the peefect mix and made for a truly astounding taboo reverse harem!
I was a bit apprehensive about reading it at first but I loved the Auther so I gave it ago and so glad I did watching how the relationship developed between birdie rhett & thro was entertaining and great but the build between birdie & luke was cute
It was two different relationships within Harmen was beautiful to read having that carnal primal sex and then the sweet relationship between her and luke is amazing
