William Brashler and Reinder Van Til writing together become Crabbe Evers the author of this baseball mystery series. They do a great job of revealing much of the wonder that is baseball, it’s trivia and peculiarities and then mixing this into a well crafted murder mystery. In MURDERER’S ROW I particularly enjoyed the many quotes from Casey and Yogi:
Yogi—“Pitching is seventy-five percent of the game, and the other half is hitting.”
Casey—“Good pitching will always beat good hitting, and vice versa.” ( pg. 129)
Fans of baseball, as well as those who enjoy a good mystery will find this book worthwhile and if you happen to be a fan of both like I am, definitely pick it up. It’s not a literary masterpiece, but a well turned double play.
