Warriors of the D’tali #1

Rescued by Her Alien Mate

Rate this book
I thought being kidnapped by four-armed blue apes was as weird as life was going to get.

Boy, was I wrong...

We've crashed, our captors have fled, and now we've been rounded up by a group of tall, horned men. With scales. Who don't understand a word we say.

So why does my heart flutter when their leader touches me? When his eyes flash silver, something deep inside me answers.

But if I lose my heart, how can I keep myself and the other women safe?

Rescued by her Alien Mate is the first book of the Warriors of the D'Tali science fiction romance series. Each book contains a complete HEA for our couple, and lots of steamy SFR fun!

Don't give me a human with scales and horns and call them an alien!!

2.5 Stars

Listen, I read alien SFR to see aliens that look like aliens and to see new crazy worlds. One thing I hate is when an author can't even take the time to explain in detail how the alien looks. So in this instance I have no idea how tall or big Dojak is, just that he's musclely. I was told he's blue and lizard like, but not if he has lips (ya know lizards don't have those) or anything about his facial features. Does he have hair? Are his eyes slitted? Does he have a long forked tongue? Also is his junk just normal human junk? So yeah this one majorly irked me because all we're told is Dojak is blue, has scales like a lizard, and horns (which only get mentioned once when she grabs them when they're making out). It's hard to picture the couple in my mind when you don't tell me what he looks like.

Then there was only slightly better world building. These extra depths and effort to detail makes an author stand out from the rest of the run of the mill SFR authors. I did like Dojak and Sofia. That's why I did round up to 3 stars. I hope things get better in the next one.

Yes!! This a new alien romance that I can recommend!!

Super fun, steamy, and just highly entertaining!
There is a language barrier, which is honestly one of my favorite tropes!
There is insta lust/love in here, but keep in mind that they have a mating bond.

Loved this and can't wait to read the rest on the books in this series!!

This read like a poorly written Ice Planet Barbarians fan fiction.
So many “and then suddenly it happened…”
“ and then suddenly I knew….”
Don’t waste your time. If you want some sexy blue aliens saving damsels in distress read Ruby Dixon’s series Ice Planet Barbarians.

My third did-not-finish book.

Why the low review? UNREALISTIC!

Language: When the reptilian king asked his friend/assassin/mystery man where did all these attackers came from, he answered: "Beats me." And this guy also used various twenty-first century American slang and curse words. Really. We're talking about an alien race. No, I don't expect a linguistic lesson, but the chances of these exact words being spoken, even with a non-Human-manufactured translator. There were many, many other examples of ridiculous banterings like the above. I forced myself to get through it, but by the time I was around 65% through, I just couldn't finish.

Research: There were a few places which radiated singular thinking like a Human female being kidnapped by one space-faring alien race to crash-land and be rescued by another alien race of a lower technological level than she was. What kind of changes could she foment unknowingly?

Editing: I was surprised that I found less errors in the technical department, but other than that, content apparently was ignored.

This could had been so much more. Infinitely so much more!

Good start to a new series. Being kidnapped by aliens then transported to a strange planet is terrible but through all the harsh pain is a miracle when another alien race captures them and gives them a chance for a new beginnings.

Written in first person by AVA YORK & STARR HUNTRESS, RESCUED BY HER ALIEN MATE is the 1st book in the WARRIORS OF THE D’TALI series, and switches perspectives between Dojak and Sofia.

FEMALE HEROIN: ♀️♀️♀️/5

Sofia Avery was one of twelve women abducted from Earth by the Skarg. She had just finished her night shift as a waitress at a diner in Southern California before she decided to go for a quick run on the night she was taken. She had vague memories of a blinding white light before she woke inside a pen with other women aboard a spaceship. Said spaceship crashed on an unknown planet, where the surviving women were found by Dojak and his men. The Skarg had implanted a translator (which was more like a painful neurological download) into the women (so they could understand their master's orders when they were sold as slaves) prior to crashing. Unfortunately, the D'Tali didn't receive the neurological translation implant until half way through the book; So while the women could understand the men, it was a one-way conversation filled with frustration at being unable to communicate. Sofia's character was a bit too wish-washy and flip-floppy for my liking. She was appointed the leader amongst the group of women with absolutely zero explanation or even sense as to why. In the final chapter, she stepped into the role of Queen with ease, and I felt like there wasn't near enough prior apprehension regarding the matter. Dojak told her that she'd make a great queen and I strongly disagreed with his assessment. While my opinion about Sofia's character may seem low, it was still higher than my opinion of Dojak.

MALE HEROIN: ♂️♂️/5

King Dojak was the bright-blue-skinned D’Tali leader of Tahkath. His cousin Lomav, who was next in line for the throne (should anything happen to Dojak) was the entitled villain. Lomav saw the initial connection between Dojak and Sofia, which indicated a mate bond, and rebelled against the slightest possibility of Dojak taking a mammal as his Queen or siring a mixed-breed child. Lomav believed in the old Gods, traditions and biases. He also believed that he would make a better leader of the D'Tali than Dojak. So he conspired to kill Dojak and Sofia. I wasn't surprised that Lomav was the villain in this book, in fact, I clearly saw him for what he was in the second chapter, and confirmed my prediction by chapter four. The reason for my low opinion of Dojak was because as the leader and King, he should've seen the same red flags in Lomav that I did, and MUCH sooner than I did. And yet, NO ONE suspected the obvious succeeding douche as the one causing problems behind the scenes. It was so obvious that it was almost comedic, but Dojak was like "how is this happening? Who could be doing this?" I wanted to rip my hair out.

ALIEN APPEARANCE: 👽👽👽/5

The D'Tali are amphibians (lizard-like creatures) that vary in color; different shades of blues and purples. Tall and muscular, they're built like handsome cold-blooded tanks with scales. There was nothing unique or interesting about their reproductive parts; just lizard men with human dïcks.

BIOLOGICAL MATE INDICATORS: 🧬🧬🧬🧬/5

The D'Tali experience the following physical indications whenever in the presence of their one true bond mate: tight chest, tingling in the spine, warm upper body, and silver glowing eyes that blur the vision before covering everything in a silver sheen. Aside from the silver eyes, the human female appears to be affected much the same, with a strong pull to the male that's difficult to resist (deriving from a pharamone/hormone/endorphin cocktail). There are very few D’Tali women because the limited birthrates produce more male offspring than female. For a D’Tali to have a relationship, it can only happen after a mating bond has been made with their one true mate. Most D’Tali never find their mate, being destined for a lifetime of loneliness.

ROMANCE & RAUNCH: 🔥🔥🔥

First intimate contact took place at the 37% mark. There was naked fondling in the bath, with Dojak providing Sofia oral pleasure, ending in a one-sided orgasm. First intercourse took place at the 53% mark. As a basic reference point, I consider anything after the 50% mark as dangling the cheese for so long that it molds. I despise whenever author(s) makes us wait too long for the juicy parts (which is why Grace Goodwin is still my all-time favorite author in the alien romance category). This book gave us four separate raunch scenes; one with oral sex (🔥) and three involving intercourse. First intercourse took place before Dojak could understand Sofia's words; she let her body do all the talking for her. She gave him head, followed by missionary (🔥). Second intercourse took place at the 64% mark; Dojak ripped Sophia's dress off before she rode him cowgirl style (🔥🔥🔥). Third intercourse took place at the 92% mark, after the couple's wedding ceremony; another quick blow-job (no, he didn't return the favor), followed by missionary until she came, then doggy style until they both came (🔥🔥🔥). While the authors definitely wrote better raunch scenes in this series (so far), the reason for such a low fire score is because of the boring and monotonous feel of the interactions. I've ditched almost every other series written by this duo for a combination of reasons; 1: short and vague sexual encounters written in one or two paragraphs; 2: the raunch scenes had a PG13 or light R rating to them; and 3: very boring and unoriginal. When the reader is granted only two romantic sexual encounters (in a romance novel), and they're a poorly written snooze-fest, the reader tends to lose faith in the writer's knowledge and experience on the subject. Thankfully, the author(s) appear to have put actual effort into this book's romance scenes. While they're longer than 2 paragraphs and go into better visualisation, we're still left with rather boring experiences. (Missionary again?! 🙄) The real test will be in following books in this series, discovering whether they're just a copy-and-paste kind of effort.

ACTION & ADVENTURE:
🎬/5

The adventure in this book was very basic and lacked imagination. Human females were abducted from 🌎 before their captor's shipped crashed on a planet not familiar with space travel (a basic plot that's been done a billion times). There's inside sabotage and treason amidst the alien species (the King's cousin plotted to kill him and take the throne for himself). And that's basically it. Most of the book's action was based around random attacks from an enemy tribe or lone assassins, with clear indications that they were receiving inside information from a traitor. The villian was highlighted very early in the book, giving us no alternative possibilities. I don't know about other readers, but I am very bored and frustrated reading a story that's waiting for the main characters to discover information that we as the reader already know. There was a long unnecessary drawn-out hostage scene where Dojak was considering abdicating his throne in exchange for Sofia's life. Obviously, it didn't come down to that. Yawn.

BOOK LENGTH:
📖📖📖📖/5

One of my main complaints with this author duo has been book length. While I doubt this book was any shorter than their other series, it didn't "feel" like the book was too long, and that's a major win. I read the book from cover to cover in just under 4 hours and didn't need to speed-read.

OVERALL SUMMARY:
⭐⭐⭐/5

So far, I recommend this series. Hopefully, this won't be another one that I have to abandon after 2 or 3 books due to boring monotony. I'm curious to what book 2 has in store...
This entire review has been hidden because of spoilers.

I feel bad reviewing this book because I really wanted to like it more and give it a better rating, but it was not possible.
The blurb was somewhat interesting if not that original. The writing style was nice and I can see the author has the brute writing skills, but the plot had too many holes and it felt like maybe she could've written something other than alien romance.
The aliens were supposedly similar to a cold blood reptile species, but they had the same overall anatomy as a human being. The MMC knew all the erogenous human female spots (clit, g spot, etc) from the get go and that was really odd.
The author made their society similar to the Roman empire (the human females explicit said so), there was no new technology, different animals or landscape, everything was really Earth-like. Word-building was slim to none. The only difference was the 2 red moons and that's it.
Alien society, manners and culture were extremely similar to Earth's, the humans showed no sings of difficulties adapting to their new planet/life.
The aliens who abducted the humans simply disappeared after the crash and nobody thought of them after. The humans were not afraid the "bad guys" could get them again? Why would the author explicitly show they survived if not to show up eventually?
Thing is, the book was not alien-y. It felt more like a travel through time to ancient Rome instead of a going to a different galaxy kind of story.
Again, I feel like this author has a lot of potencial, but maybe she needed a little guidance.

This was cute in that it was a fast read and some action.
But I couldn't get past how there was no cultural or apparent physiological difference. I had been kinda excited these were very different aliens, lizard and cold blooded Another entire world.

But they kiss, they marry, they use the same phrases and political systems, and apparently their anatomy/sex is exactly the same? Exactly the same, even clearly the females must have the same anatomy as human females... At one point the king mentions being a hatchling but no one says a word about the pregnancy being different from humans and how that will go....

Anyways the story was fine, lots of time jumps but none help explain how the couple were so over the top intensely, dramatically in love by the end. I like instalove but there wasn't any connection shown between these two before they wanted to die for each other. And I just couldn't get passed the fact that they were exactly the same despite the token differences they were described as having.

It's been almost exactly two years since the last time I read this book. So while I remembered some things while reading, it was almost like I read it for the first time.
I really liked it, the characters are great. Sofia is a nice kind of badass, not an insufferable one. She really is great and the relationship she has with Dojak is beautiful.
I wished there was more world building and character descriptions but oh well. I enjoyed it anyway.

I like the storyline, is new and somewhat refreshing, I like the fact the h has a head over her shoulders and is able to make sound decisions. the H is sweet and a little alpha, there seem to be not cultural barriers between them, os not as much as you would spect between an alien species and humans. overall is a solid 3 stars.

I wanted to like this. I love a good Language Barrier, but this ain’t it. As an ESL teacher, I find it hard to believe that absolutely nobody in a whole palace with hundreds of people (It felt very empty, though, I have no idea where all those people were during the whole story, but it wasn’t in the palace) would even try to learn the language of the women. Or that none of the women even tried to communicate with the aliens. Because no effort was made on either side. The women understood the aliens, which would make the process of teaching them the language way easier. Also, given the fact that the aliens used a lot of 21st century human slang, one would think it would be easier for them to learn, right? They somehow know what a tomato is, enough to compare people to it, even when I’m pretty sure they hadn’t seen one in their life. Not that I know, because absolutely nothing is described beyond things being vaguely similar to the Roman Empire (though only the level of technology is described like that, I just had to assume the aesthetics were also similar). They don’t know what a car is, but they know what a spaceship is, enough not to freak out when one comes crashing down on them. And they don’t freak out with machines that seem too advanced for human standards. Nobody has problems adapting, even when I would think a civilization of reptiles who technologically are at least a thousand years behind the human women should be very, very different to current Earth's civilization. They had never seen a human woman, yet Dojak knows his way around Sophie’s body better than any human man. Worldbuilding was all over the place. No thoughts given in that front.
They were there for three weeks before they used the machine, which took them two weeks to figure out; what was so difficult about it? I will never know, because we’re just told it’s been two weeks. There are a lot of jumps like that, time just passes and we have no idea what happened in between. The bad guy was painfully obvious from the start, and I don’t mind that, but he literally was the only character to express any concerns about the women being there. Turns out it was for the wrong reasons, but still.
Finally, everyone seemed TSTL. I had trouble believing Dojak was king, or that Sofia could show anyone where the bathroom is, let alone lead a dozen women. We’re told a lot of things I never saw, and the secondary characters suddenly disappear and then appear just to vanish once more and come back whenever the author deems it necessary for them to deliver a line. It made it hard to care for any of them. So I won’t be reading anymore of this series.

A new life

Honestly, if anyone had ever told me that I was going to fall in love with an alien species, I would have told them they have been smoking the funny stuff..
What were the chances of being kidnapped by awful aliens to then crash and try to deal with those who found us.
Sophia found herself in an unusual position, many of the twelve women she had been captured with have chosen her as the leader and spokeswoman of our group, for someone who never liked being the focus of attention she suddenly finds herself in a position of protecting them and trying to help the new aliens understand what was needed.
Dojak is not only a warrior of the alien group that found Sophia and her friends he is also the king of their territory, he is not sure exactly who this woman is to him but it certainly feels as though she is having a huge impact on both his body and his common sense.
Is it possible she is special.
Take a look at what happens when women from earth are brought into the T'al community. Are the two species able to get along, or will the differences destroy any chance they have.
This tale has plenty of action, fast-paced, steamy, and enough action to keep you wanting to turn the pages.
This is a sci-fi that has political intrigue along with tempting characters and steamy situations.
It is a great read if you enjoy the challenges facing women dealing with sexy hunky aliens.

I really liked the beginning, but then there are a lot of time jumps and what felt like important things being skipped over and then it was the end.

Sofia wakes up on a spaceship with other women. The alien captors force a procedure on them which enables them to understand all languages. The spaceship crashes and Dojak stumbles upon them with some soldiers. They take the women back to the palace, then they travel back to the spaceship, and several time jumps later, they can communicate, which results in a marriage/bonding.

I really liked the beginning with how Dojak and Sofia interacted, but I wanted to see more of them trying to understand each other.

There were a lot of time jumps that skipped over everything, so I lost interest in the story. There was an obvious villain, but that’s resolved quickly.

There were some side characters, but because of the time jumps, you don’t really see them.

I’m not really interested in the next book, but I might try Vokar and Isabella’s book. I’m not sure if I’ll continue the series after that.

I read this book as part of a box set. Sofia and other human women have been abducted from Earth and are on their way to God knows where to be sold as slaves when their ship is attacked and crash lands on a planet. Their captors flee and they are rescued by D'tali warriors. While they can understand their rescuers due to a painful procedure performed on them by their former captors, the D'tali cannot understand the women they saved. They also had no idea that space travel was even a thing.

Dojak is the ruler of the D'tali and cannot believe it when he realizes that one of the women they just found is his mate. Unfortunately, though she seems to be able to understand him he has no idea what she is saying. On top of that, his cousin seems determined to undermine him when he directs that the women be given quarters in the palace. He is well aware that if he has no heirs, which he can only have with a true mate, his cousin will be his successor. Sofia and some of the other women come up with a bold plan to fix the communication problem. Now they just have to convince the king.

Dojak and Sofia

Kidnapped by four armed aliens, the ship attacked by an unknown enemy, Sofia and eleven other women crash land onto a planet of reptilian people.
Rescued by Dojak, king of the D’tali and language barrier in place, Sofia must try to figure out a way to communicate with their rescuers, especially the king with whom she feels a far more intimate connection.

This is the first book in the series, which begins a story of twelve human women stranded on a planet far from Earth. Their new home is mediaeval in knowledge, their new neighbours more reptilian than mammal. But humans are good at adapting, and so they do!
It’s not a deep story, but it is filled with action, sexy times, and sensible humans that don’t spend forever trying to run away from a good thing 😉
This was an enjoyable, quick read, that most sci-fi romance fans will enjoy.

This story was really very good for a quick read. It hit all the necessary elements for the plot. There was an excellent fight scene with the bad guy. There was a moment when the old time song from the Lone Ranger rang through my silly old brain when the cavalry arrived. And, there was plenty of coupling steam. Seriously, for a fairly short alien story this was an excellent read.

I guess I had two tiny problems with this tale. I’m not so sure the swear words like the F-Bomb, Axxhole and Bxtch would be used by aliens on another plant. They all talked like they were from Brooklyn. And, I think we should have been told what happened to the bad guy...

The King was wonderful, actually all three alien male MC's were delightful. By the end of the story life in this alien kingdom looked so good I was sorry they couldn't come get me to join them...LOL

Excellent Story - Excellent Writing - Excellent Read

Nice Reading

3.5 Stars
Both MCs were likeable. Dovak was a king dedicated to his people and struggling to deal with his nefarious neighboring Kingdom. Socials life is turned upside down when she is kidnapped by aliens and then crashes into another planet.
The basic story was good. Somethings that prevented me from getting truly lost in the adventure was the way the D'Tali spoke and the women's reaction to their situation. The D'Tali people spoke like modern day earthlings, despite living in an ancient type world (picture ancient Roman). None of the women seemed distressed about their predicament ( fact that they are stranded on an archaic alien planet.
Of all.that characters, Vorak "stole the show". He was such a smooth guy with a dry wit. I definitely want to know his back story, why he became an assassin and " see" him lose control.

Looking for signs

Sofia is one of a group of women that was randomly kidnapped by a group of aliens. These aliens painfully gave them a way to understand the language so that they could be sold as slaves. The aliens crashlanded on another planet and the humans were introduced to another group of aliens.
The D'tali at least seem to be kind and caring. But until these aliens can understand them nothing is known for sure.
Dojak is the leader. They have very few females of their species and has resigned himself to not having a mate. That is until the mating signs appear as soon as he sees Sophia.
Now if only they can communicate, deal with an enemy and find the traitor within their midst.

Even though I'm in the middle of no less than four series, I felt bored and started another one. Probably a bad sign for the others but I'll get into that some other time. This is the first book of the Warriors of the D'tali series and the book was...fine. It was basically another copy of Ice Planet Barbarians, because I have to compare everything to that now. A group of human women are kidnapped and crash land on an alien planet where they're taken in by blue aliens. Shenanigans ensue. Of course I will be saving my full thoughts for later on. Assuming I continue this series, but I'm nothing if not stubborn!

Sofia woke up in a cage on an alien spaceship scared with other women. Their abductors used a machine to understand alien languages. When the ship crashed, they were rescued by Dojak, leader of the D'Tali and his men. He knew that she was his fated mate, but could not communicate with her until the machine that was used on her and her cell mates gave them the ability to know what the D'Tali are saying. I enjoyed this story with engaging characters, and I'd like to see Troko and Vokar get their stories written. Well done Ms. Huntress and Ms. York

Such a cool beginning, I am completely into this storyline! Just don't picture the D'Tali as giant iguanas that were crossed with Arnold Schwarzenegger because you too will struggle to take the love story part seriously, lol! I loved the use of the trope of the kidnapped human women crashing into freedom and finding common ground with their rescuers. The plot was light on the abduction details, but the story moves quickly and is filled with action and danger. I'm looking forward to the next one in the series!

Sofia and 11 other human females were abducted from earth by the Skarg blue aliens with 4 arms, suddenly the ship was being fired on and they were going to crash. Dojak a D’Tali warrior wished to the sky to bring his mate to him and before he could finish a big fireball was falling from the sky so he and his men went to see what it was. Fantastic story I loved it and the characters and I highly recommend this book it’s well worth the read.
I read a copy of this book through my kindle unlimited.
