WereWitch #4

Were War

Rate this book
It's on.

Everyone has been on Bailey's back as she tries to understand her powers, her attitude, and her future.

Now, the gods are getting involved.

Not sure where the next attack will come from, Bailey is doing the one thing she can control: practice.

But will all of the practice Fenris is pushing be enough for the game she is in?

Especially when no one is divulging the rules.

The being behind it all who is pulling the strings has one massive misunderstanding. Just because you have a good heart doesn't mean you're weak.

"It's like Romeo and Juliet...a Were and a wizard fighting kidnappers, gods, and a mysterious government agency that is trying to hide the paranormal from society.
You know what? It's actually nothing like Romeo and Juliet.
Except no one wants those two together, especially the witches."

Massive change is coming down from the heavens, and Bailey Nordin is the Were in the middle.

A long time ago I was born in Los Angeles. That's where I spent many of my formative years. After I became an adult, I moved around for a bit before ending up in a small town in Oregon, very similar to Bailey's hometown. Greenhearth is fake, if you haven't already Googled that, but it's like many small towns with less than 1,000 people.

My pets...
I love animals, especially my two even if they do create havoc in my daily life. I have a cat, named Snowstorm, Storm for short. Then I have a rescue, Josephine. She's a Labradoodle - I think. It's hard to say but it's the best I can come up with.

What I'm working on...
I'm already working on the next book in the series - was working on it before Bad Attitude came back from editing. And now that it has released, need to stay on track with A Bit Aggressive.

Book 4 of The Were Witch series lived up to its promise, and kept me entertained almost all the way through.

Bailey is gaining in skills, along with Roland, and their personal relationship starts to really bloom.

BUT, I'm REALLY getting mad at Marcus/Fenrig!

I honestly can't work out whether he's genuinely trying to train Bailey properly, in the Rites of the Shaman, or whether it's all just as dastardly plan, to get her into a position where things become even more deadly than they already are!

Between the attacks of the Venatori, in any place that Were's dwell, to attacks from other Were Clans that Bailey, and most of her Town, had never even heard of, things have got serious - in fact, it's got all-out-War serious!

It's quite obvious that the battle in Greenhearth is more the start of a War between the Venatori and the Were's, and I look forward to reading Book 5: 'Were Rages', to see what's going to happen next with both the Town, AND all the various characters who have gathered there.

But I still have a few things that keep bugging me with this story.

I don't know whether it's because there's no consistency where Bailey's actual Father is concerned, that bothers me the most, or whether it's just me being a tad neurospicey, and focusing too much on the wrong things.

But I REALLY hate it when details about Bailey's Father either change completely, or are overlooked, between each book in this series so far, but it's really starting to bug me!

I'm now just over half way through this series, and there's still no mention of Bailey's Mother, either, which has really bugged me, to the point that, every time her Father is mentioned, it pushes me out of the storyline, as I start wondering if I've missed something important - which is NOT good!

Maybe I'm just too picky?

Anyhoo, once I've finished reading this next Book 5, I'll catch you on the flip side, to let you know what I think about the continuation of Bailey, and Roland's, story!

More of the same.

More and more but still more of the same.

Marcus is still a jerk. More emotion goes into cars than people. Unless ::gasp!:: you have to kill them. But people they've met from other packs or even from her own town are barely afterthoughts when they die.

Time is handled very poorly through all the books and you never know when a day or week is passing. So apparently months have passed and nothing has changed between Bailey and Roland until

****SPOILER****

they finally have sex and for some reason that makes their relationship "official". Are we all teenagers here? There were way more opportunities for non-intercourse-relared intimacy throughout the books that could have made this relationship more real. The lack of decent segues in this series is just tiresome after 4 books.

Also, why are her brothers never around when the were stuff happens until the very end? Don't even get me started on why no one cares that dear old dad is never around during the months Bailey is going through all this.

I'm just tired of thinking things will get better, so I'm done with the series. To me all the books are basically the same story only leveling up power-wise for Bailey and her enemies...and maybe Roland...? This is also kind of unclear.

31/2

Does it bother anyone else that the brothers role in all this is still so small they might as well not exist? The series opened with them yet even with their supposed skills when the fight is dumped in their laps they are barely supporting cast(still). Finally the romance is coming to something for B and R. What the heck is up Finris? Dude makes no sense, split personality disorder? Convenient pot stirrer for the author, that’s a round peg in a square hole? The Fraya appearance is looking like a weird cameo. Unless B and R are something less than coincidence, she did show up to gauge B worth. I’ve stuck with this series for kindle unlimited but not with much gusto. Try October daye series. It’s not as clean as this one but still pretty tame between the sheets overall.

More training

The training and veiled manipulations are starting to drag. It is interesting to see the growth in Bailey's and Roland's magic but 2 novels of mostly training with no real understanding of what they learned and why people trust them is making this seem more of a stretched out short story than a novel. Most readers seem to like the series and i will probably read the next book but to be honest, this is starting to become a forgettable series.

LOVED it!!

The depth of the storyline in this book was unreal. I'm still pumped and ready to start book 5. I hate to give away too much in my reviews but I really have to say...if you're a fan of fantasy, reading this series will be a truly wonderful experience. You will not be disappointed. Shamans, weres, witches and the men in black and don't forget the Gods. Gawd, I haven't been this excited by a fantasy series in a while. Well done!!!

The story rages on...

War has begun. Bailey's followers grow by leaps and bounds. Regrettably so do the casualties, deservably those of the dark ones and sadly amongst bailey's growing pack.

Fantastic Story!

Absolutely wonderful book. Couldn't put it down! I've read 4 books so far in this series and love the everything about them: the characters and plot development and feeling the need for justice and then getting that relief.

Good story!

Lots of action and interesting people. A good story is about the people, if you don't care about them, it's not a good story.

The war is begun

The time is growing short, the foreign witches have started their attacks, determined to destroy all of the werewolves in the Oregonian mountains. Bailey is rushing to finish her training and become the leader of the wolves as Marcus intends. A good read.
