Summerhill was an avant garde English boarding school much looked up to in the 1060's. Here's a photographic essay on life and learning there. Esducation/Child Development/Historical.
Well, all I can say is that this is a poor description of life in the school Summerhill. I expected something more insightful, rich and illustrating. But this is messy, quite plain, simple and succint. I would rather recommend to read "Summerhill: A Radical Approach to Child Rearing" or "Freedom, Not License!", by Neill himself, because this book won't provide much clarity on the matter or won't add something you don't already know.
I really enjoyed this candid memoir from a student of Summerhill of four years. It helps me understand better how this free school worked and understand it's charms. optional classes, nude teens, barely punished crimes, and direct democracy by unrestrained children seems too hopeful a recipe for this day and age.
