It was hard to even fake a laugh throughout the first half of this book. The 'first day of school' memory, together with his Australian and Egyptian visit really stood out - Well-written travelogues/memoir. It would have been nice for these to be packaged separately from his politics and social commentaries. As a huge fan of the author, Lat with a punch was too 'rojak' for my liking.
I am delighted to read about Lat’s trip to Egypt and how a kampung boy went to school for the first time. I think what makes Lat’s comics so readable is largely due to his approach which is very accessible to the locals and yet international readers see certain elements similar to the foreign comics. Based on most of his work so far, I am very proud of him.
big tall hair, cat shades, the ladies in Lat's life is so powerful they're the ones pulling all the punches... Lat dominates our senses with strong depiction of the Malaysian characters around him... Sorry Herge, captain Haddock and professor Calculus are cool but Lat rules!
Baru aku faham kenapa tajuk dia Lat with a Punch. Dia macam konsep siapa makan cili, terasa pedasnya.
Setiap lukisan seperti membawa mesej mengenai isu semasa. Memerli mungkin. Tapi kebanyakannya aku tak faham pun haha mungkin sebab zaman tu aku kecik lagi.
Aku pun terfikir, dia tengah cakap tentang siapa lah agaknya.
Hujung komik baru ada cerita tentang pengalaman penulis pergi melawat Mesir, Australia dan tempat lain. Bahagian ni je aku rasa seronok. Jadi 1.5 bintang untuk buku ni.
