Bridgertons #2.5

The Viscount Who Loved Me: The Epilogue II

Rate this book
Watch your toes, it's the Pall Mall Rematch! Fifteen years have passed, but the Bridgertons are as devious and diabolical as ever when it comes to life on the croquet field. Join Anthony, Kate, Simon, Daphne, Colin, Edwina, and (of course) the mallet of death, as Julia Quinn shows that happily ever after can still be a little bit wicked... and a whole lot of fun.

Julia Quinn

#1 New York Times bestselling author Julia Quinn loves to dispel the myth that smart women don't read (or write) romance, and and if you watch reruns of the game show The Weakest Link you might just catch her winning the $79,000 jackpot. She displayed a decided lack of knowledge about baseball, country music, and plush toys, but she is proud to say that she aced all things British and literary, answered all of her history and geography questions correctly, and knew that there was a Da Vinci long before there was a code.

A graduate of Harvard and Radcliffe Colleges, Ms. Quinn is one of only sixteen members of Romance Writers of America’s Hall of Fame. Her books have been translated into 32 languages, and she lives with her family in the Pacific Northwest.

The Bridgertons, her popular series of historical romance, is currently in production by Shondaland as a Netflix original series starring Julie Andrews, Phoebe Dynevor, and Rége-Jean Page.

“This is Pall Mall. There is no fair play.”

It was like a mild ‘The War of the Roses’. I couldn’t find it amusing, but fortunately, Anthony and Kate’s marriage is much more harmonious than their Pall Mall-playing manners.

be warned though, this spoils who gets with who later on in the series!

Audiobook: Narrator - Rosalyn Landor

What an amazing narration! Ms. Landor was exceptional with each character giving them their own unique tone and cadence. She brought this story to life in a way that, in my experience, isn’t easily found, especially in romance audios. I experienced the same in the previous audio and once again found myself so absorbed, I chose to listen to this long after the time I usually turn it off.

I found this story to be almost, but not quite, as good as the first book. However, it still beats so many other books that I have listened/read and loved in the past.

There was quite the sizzle and spark between Anthony and Kate as they battled each other. I love a good enemies-to-lovers story and this one was wonderful. I couldn’t get enough of this couple and by the time the paille-maille game concluded, I was rolling with laughter and absolutely in love with Kate.

Historical Sexy GIF

I was concerned I wouldn’t like Anthony when I realized he would be courting Kate’s sister, but being allowed into this thoughts made it all the better as I could see what his real feelings were. I may not have loved him as much as Simon, but he came very close to it.

A lot of fighting over a tradition of playing the game called Pall Mall. In truth, it didn’t have the magic that the book had but it showed that they do still bring out the best and worst of each other. Maybe I’m a fuddy duddy but I found this story too silly.

Leído tras releer El vizconde que me amó por segunda vez antes de ver la segunda temporada de la serie en Netflix. Con el juego del pall mall como protagonista, no podía no gustarme.

Set 15 years into the future, the Bridgertons continue their Pall Mall antics in their annual rematch.
Anthony and Kate still are extremely cute and in love, but also still extremely competitive.
Did we need this? Not really. But it was a nice addition to book two nonetheless.

Beware, though: if you don't want to be spoiled about who will end up with whom in the future, you might want to skip this.

I love that this book did not contain any additional spoilers from the Second Epiiloge of the Duke and I.

This features a later continuation of my favorite scene in the main novel: The Croquet game. This was the best parts of the Bridgerton siblings being together.

OMG this is funny!
No man liked to be forced into marriage, and it was particularly galling to be forced by a bee.”

What I liked:
♕ A delightful historical romance with an enemies to lovers flavor.
♕ The strong female lead who wasn’t afraid of living without a man in her life to be happy.
♕ The setting is beautiful both in the bustling 1800’s London and the countryside.
♕ Lady Whistledown’s column was funny, and I still can’t figure out who she is.
♕ The Bridgerston’s a fun and loving family
♕ I loved the witty banter between Kate and Anthony

The Bridgerton's play pall ball where being unsportsman is the name of the game.

Who will wield the mallet of death? And who will be stuck with the pink mallet? Will it be Kate, Anthony or Collin?

The Viscount Who Loved Me is a standalone historical romance by Julia Quinn. It is a standalone enemies to lovers romance, told from both points of view with a happy ending.

“I’m very clever,” Colin confirmed.
“He bribed the housemaid,” Kate grumbled.
“You bribed my valet,” Anthony pointed out.
“So did you!”
“I bribed no one,” Simon said, to no one in particular.
Daphne patted his arm condescendingly. “You were not born to this family.”

The second Epilogue shows a new game of Pall Mall between Kate, Anthony, Daphne, Simon, Colin and Edwina, 15 years into the marriage between Anthony and Kate. It's definitely fun and sweet, bursting with the spirit of teasing and sabotage that this game requires in the Bridgerton family.

“Stop looking like you’re enjoying this,” he ground out.
“Ah, but that would be a lie, and it’s a sin to lie to one’s husband.”

Again very sweet novella, although does not add anything crucial to the over all series plot. The charm and fun of Anthony's love story is still strong. Will spoil Colin's story if you're reading straight through.

The Epilogues to The Viscount Who Loved Me were so fun to read. The summed up several things that happen over the coming years. Epilogue 1 did not really give much away if you are looking to go forward in the series. The 2nd Epilogue does give away a future love match so if you do not want to know who might end up together in the future you may want to skip it.
Loving this series!!

3 stars. The Pall Mall game in this was nowhere near as good as in book two but this was still cute. It’s fifteen years into the future and Kate and Anthony were absolutely adorable and in love in this and that made me happy. I’m not mad at this at all. Necessary? No. Adorable? Absolutely.

Trigger Warnings:

Kate said, “I’m going to win next year.”
“I know you think you will.”
“No, I will. I have ideas. Strategies.”
Anthony laughed, then leaned down to kiss her, mud and all. “I have ideas, too,” he said with a smile. “And many, many strategies.”

This is the 2nd epilogue to The Viscount Who Loved Me. I didn’t expect it to be so funny and good, Anthony and Kate give crackhead couple energy. They’re both so competitive I was dying of laughter the whole time. Plus some of the family was here and they made it even more funny, Simon was boring though, sorry. So far in the series, Kate and Anthony are the ones with the personality. Read this if you haven’t already cuz it was fun!

Now for spoilers

Stay safe folks!
