This was given out only as an ebook in October 2020 to those who submitted their Key to Fear pre-order receipt info to Kristin. This short story is not available for distribution. You will not find it on Amazon or at bookstores.
Kristin is a #1 NYT and #1 USA Today bestselling author with over 30 million books in print.
She is proudly neurodivergent (ASD + OCD) and deeply consumed by character-driven chaos, emotionally vulnerable heroes, and smart, sexy heroines who always get the last word and the hot guy. When she’s not writing, you’ll find her devouring thriller, horror, and romance novels, practicing witchcraft, and being the exact kind of unhinged that makes group chats worth opening.
This series will either engross you or lose you. It depends on your age and what you like to read. I’ll list both reasons:
I disliked: Not enough love tension, to much trust between friends and not enough betrayal, only ever the same old villains from book 1 to book 12, some chapters just off loaded to much information while others really lacked it.
I loved: How the love Interest didn’t change, there relationship evolved over the books like regular relationships do, friendships always remained, the main character evolved along with the books, main characters actually died, and it all ended the way I wanted it to.
The books are small so it’s an easy one day per book read for fast readers or 2 days for slower ones.
I would easily recommend the series if you currently don’t have anything waiting that’s alluring as you can become easily distracted when the chapters get a bit boring. But if you stick with it you will be happy with the end result.
It's fine for what it is, honestly I think it should have just been in the book meanwhile getting Zoey's original POV.
The tiktok mention is incredibly cringe however considering tiktok didn't even exist mainstream during the original run of the books until maybe the last one? I also hated that there was a paywall in order to even read it. It either should be published or free to the public Kristin, not hidden within your instagram & tiktok subscriptions of which inevitably I paid for both as I could only gain access to it ONLY via IG so that sucked too as I tried tiktok first as that's how I found out it was readable through.
I have one more HoN related piede to read, the graphic novel. Probably will read that next so I can finally put this series to bed!
It's been a LONG time since I ventured into the House of Night world... & by long, I mean I'm nearly 30 & I read these books when I was a teenager. Turns out, I've really missed the HON life & it felt good to be taken back there, even if it was for a brief moment & through the eyes of Heath Luck. I think it's time I dust off my collection of HON books & re-read them all.
Thank you, Kristin, for giving me the privilege of being able to read this short story & I can't wait for more!
