Obsession so dark and twisty!

The setting: New York City
The Hero(s): Lucien Morelli – lives by his own rules, takes what he wants and uses people and things. The Morelli’s and the Constantine’s have some sort of Hatfield/McCoy feud and both families are ultra wealthy and don’t seem to care too much about laws. Lucien is a sadist and he is extremely unlikable. He refers to pretty much all women as whore’s, sluts and witches (with a b). He owns a sex club and feels no shame about cruelly using any girl there that he wants. Though he begins to only want Elaine Constantine.
The heroine: Elaine Constantine – is the black sheep of her wealthy family. She is a drunk and a drug addict and she wants to die. When Lucien comes for her, she is surprised by her attraction to him but isn’t afraid of being killed by him. She does want to get rid of her virginity. It seems to be some sort of a thing with her family. Apparently she has to be pure when and if they marry her off to the man of their choosing.
The Love Story: Lucien is unbelievably dark and a sadist. He wants to hurt Elaine and break her but the more he finds out about her the more he becomes obsessed with her. Elaine is a masochist so that is probably a big part of it. Lucien has a gut feeling that she can take anything he dishes out and that she would enjoy it.
Personally, I don’t mind the S&M stuff, but Lucien pisses me off. He is in charge of some underworld dealings (guns and drugs) but he also mentions women, so it is no surprise he refers to females in such derogatory terms. I just want to smack him though.
This is definitely one of the darkest books I have read in a while, but I like it. I was hanging on every word and action and I am dying to know how it all turns out. Elaine has some huge secrets and it looks like Lucien doesn’t only answer to himself, despite his “I take whatever I want” attitude. He has a family and some might be nastier than he is.
If there is one thing that brings this book from a five to a four it is that the anti-hero is not his own man. I hate it when wealthy Hero is under the thumb of someone else. Though I do like it that Lucien is a psycho (he basically has no feelings for anything). I love psycho’s obsessed with the leading lady so I will rate this one 4.5 stars. The ending was great. You can take it as a cliffhanger or an ending.

If there was ONE word to describe this story, it'd be....Violent!!
Jade drops us right in the middle of the battleground of Lasvicious rage and tempestous ecstasy in this book. A page Turner that will leave you panting for more, it zips from Bishop's landing to downtown Manhattan, blazing a trail of euphoria and mayhem together.
There's Lucian Morelli- "Dominant didn’t come anywhere near describing what a dark, filthy fucker I was in this life. Nothing ever could. Nobody would ever understand it. Nobody would ever understand me. Nobody could ever understand my freak of a body, so tainted in its strengths, and my freak of a mind to match."
He's beyond ruthless, a devilish rascal who values flesh less and life even lesser. His Object de Desir - Elaine Constantine, actually it's more than desire. It's cataclysmic obsession to the point of promised annihilation that drives or pulls Lucian towards his nemesis.
She's got her own set of problems. Her mind and body are at war, trying to find solace in the pink cloud of fuzziness.
"Elaine Constantine was a girl who didn’t know what the hell she was doing. A broken toy, cracked on the inside yet still smiling beautifully through the window of her pristine box." Nothing could give you a clearer picture of her emotional and mental health than this!!
Montagues-Capulets have nothing on Morelli-Constantine fued. Bitter enemies to the end and then there's volcanic passion flowing like molten lave right through the middle of it all!
And that readers, is the crux of Jade's new book.
I was completely mesmerized by Lucian, who's only shown one cruel facet of his personality, I'm sure Jade will cut and polish him like A gem in the next two books
Elaine is a precious doll, my heart pained for her at all times. Betrayed, abandoned, neglected..she's the quintessential angry/sad girl jut waiting for her end.
Tension is strung taut, emotions are running on a high. Be it disgust at heirs, enmity with rivals, pant straining dominance or pain yearning submission, Every characters is broken to the point of no return. I felt like I was standing among the debris of souls after the apocalypse.
How she will progress with the story, how will she bring a shred of peace to these troubled souls, would be something to watch out for... Cannot wait to read Soulless

OMG Jade!! I'm not sure if I should hose myself down or check myself into the nearest asylum after reading this. The question I'm asking myself is what did I just read.
Lucian Morelli has to be Jade's biggest antihero yet, to be honest there is nothing heroic about him at all. Get ready because he comes at you with the force of a sledgehammer. I promise you have never met a man as ruthless and cruel or as heartless and sadistic. In short he is a grade A dick and proud of it. He owns his ruthless behaviour to be truthful he revels in it. Elaine Constantine the broken suicidal black sheep of her family. Watching Elaine navigate her life is like watching a car crash about to happen. You know the mistakes she is going to make before she does them she is also bit of a masochist.
The families are mortal enemies and Lucian is determined to make them pay through Elaine. There is no sugar coating the dark nature of this book it bleeds from every page. The story is addictive reading with complex and compelling characters. I fear we have only scratched the surface of the secrets these two are keeping and of the lengths they will go to in this obsession with each other. Book two can't get here fast enough.

Jade West knows erotic darkness!!!! Holy cow!!!! She goes outside the box and I absolutely LOVE IT!!! Lucian and Elaine’s storyline is phenomenal, sexy, dirty, erotic, dark, violent, and sinful as h*ll!!! I loved every single word of it!!!! If you love erotic dark romance, then you will love Heartless by Jade West!!! Five stars is cheating her out of stars!!!

Heartless by Jade West got me all twisted inside. This was pushing all my limits. Lucian is one of the greatest antiheroes I have ever read. It was all about depraved pleasures and dark desires. It was dangerous, filthy, so wrong and yet felt so right.
Morellis and Constantines are two rich, corrupt and powerful families. Also eternal enemies. Lucian Morelli is the heir to Morelli empire and he shouldn't be obsessed with Elaine Constantine. But his obsession is breaking every single rule. Elaine is the black sheep of her socially perfect family and has secrets of her own.
So first a warning. Lucian is not a conventional hero. Not by any standards. I have read my fair share of antiheroes and even then, his actions shocked me. He is cruel, ruthless, dominant, reckless and unapologetically arrogant. But that doesn't capture his lethal appeal at all. He is really the devil. He wants Elaine but not just for lust. He wants to hurt her and destroy her and kill her. And he will go to any length to do that. And the shocking twisted sick things he does..and don't get me started on his dirty filthy mouth.In every chapter I was like " Oh he didn't just do it! It is INSANE!" or "Did he just say what I think he did? " I was freaking scared and oddly turned on by that. Elaine is a very complex character. She is not the drug addict disgrace people thinks her to be. She is actually a fighter and struggling with her pain. And she will take anything to numb her. Even if it's Lucian. Since it's a trilogy, this story was a lot about building up characters and the storyline. The forbidden chemistry with the burning hate and raw vengeance was amazing. But I was missing the actual emotional connection between the characters. It had a fast paced and adrenaline fuelled story line. I just didn't feel the emotions. I hope it will develop in next book and that makes sense.
Jade West has just started an explosive and steamy enemies to lovers story in Heartless. If you love heroes with dark hearts and broken heroines with fierce soul, this is a must read series for you.

Arc in exchange for an honest review.
Now that this book is over I honestly don't know what to think, I'm kind of dumbfounded by it. Just warning people that this book does contain triggers, especially surrounding self-harm etc! So be warned.
I also didn't realise this was a trilogy so now I'm left waiting for a few months!
Elaine was such a heartbreaking character, you go through the book being in her head and still being kept from knowing her secrets - but you do get hints. I just want her to speak them out loud to someone and that she actually gets help in the next book. She was so difficult to read because I felt so bad by the way she was treated by everyone, she needed a break.
Lucien was damn, all messed up, all so hot and all so enticing in one. I'm interested in seeing where his character goes in the next book! I find him so intriguing and I want to know more about the business he's in, since we didn't see that much this time!
Lucien and Elaine crashed together and then could never let go of one another and honestly after finishing, I have no clue how they're going to be able to be together in the end. I can't wait to see how West does it.
Go check this book out when it comes out September 15th!

Elaine was such a heartbreaking character, you go through the book being in her head and still being kept from knowing her secrets - but you do get hints. I just want her to speak them out loud to someone and that she actually gets help in the next book. She was so difficult to read because I felt so bad by the way she was treated by everyone, she needed a break.
Lucien was damn, all messed up, all so hot and all so enticing in one. I'm interested in seeing where his character goes in the next book! I find him so intriguing and I want to know more about the business he's in, since we didn't see that much this time!
Lucien and Elaine crashed together and then could never let go of one another and honestly after finishing, I have no clue how they're going to be able to be together in the end. I can't wait to see how West does it.

Lucian was the kind of character you’d love to hate and for me, that’s what made me love him. He was morally skewed and completely unapologetic. Elaine also drew me in with her background and self-destructiveness.

Jade West has done it again; I fell down the rabbit hole. The Morelli, Constantine world continues. This is Elaine and Lucian’s story, and what a story indeed.
Elaine Constantine is your rich party girl who has a world of hurt under her fake smile. Lucian is your typical alpha hot anti-hero. Who is all so smitten with forbidden fruit named Elaine. The passion and chemistry between these two will set your kindle on fire.
Elaine has a ton of secrets, and Lucian has his own darkness. I love the predator/prey aspect of the book. Not a fan of Mom Constantine; I kept saying, “Ya, okay, Sybil.”
I have a feeling they are going to burn everything to the ground around them. Heartless is an easy read. If you are looking for good enemies to lovers, this is for you.

I was intrigued by this book due to my reading of Dark Fairy Tales. I am not your usual "dark" reader. I will sometimes dip into things that tweak my interest, but overall darker, more twisty, violent reads are not my thing. That does not stop me from appreciating the crafting, ability, and talent of those who do write this genre.
Heartless by Jade West is the start of a new series involving the hate for conflicting powerful families, families that have inflicted pain for generations. Both are powerful in their own ways. The children of these families have become pawns, of sorts...some more than others.
The main story of this first entry is about Elaine Constantine and Lucien Morelli.
She is the daughter who has had no love from her family and is spinning out of control. She has created an image of one thing and is actually something very different. She is lost, no one believes her about what she has experienced or knows, so she is trying to get some kind of control back, no matter how destructive it may be.
Lucien is feared for good reason. He has created his own myths and lives up to them. Make no mistake, the violence, the coldness in how they are committed...all of the stories are true. All of the sex stories are true, as well.
Lucien's main focus is to inflict the worse pain possible on the Constantine family. This brings him to the mascarade party thrown by them. He has been out and about by fuzzing the waters as to what his name and who he is...allowing him to walk among them.
He came for one daughter but ended up being captured by the other, Elaine. It is this connection that changes everything for both of them.
Whoa...This is a truly dark tale. Make No Mistake. For those who have triggers, I would not recommend it. It also is left with a cliffy.
I would say it has a very deep storyline of pain, a feeling of isolation, a need to find control, and a very intense, somewhat consensual love story. Lucien and Elaine see each other and are tied by bonds yet to be made clear.
The next entry, Soulless, is coming in December.

[1st scene].. he saw her in the ballroom and get all hot for her, follows her in the bathroom and went on her, kissing and even fingering her....then almost fucked her, her being a virgin (him knowing that) they stopped only because her cousin found them. Their family are at war so they are enemies , the worst enemies BUT the lust..it's big. Let's say they knew of each other but never talked or being near each others, more like ''knew of '' kind of thing...
[2nd scene] He calls and pays for a virgin girl to fuck, mind you ON PAGE, we FREAKING HAVE TO READ ALL THE DETAILS ON PAGE!!!!!!!!!!!!! 🤢 🤮
Listen, usually i already give up on a read like this, but here i kind of get the part of him going to another girls BUT WHY ON PAGE and also why VIRGIN come on author, WTF?!?!?!
Then i tried reading more of it, he starts following the h ...and i was like...he could wait and be with her, the OW wasn't needed but since i have no trust about this author i searched reviews of the others books in the series with spoilers too and thank God for that! i didn't lose my time!
Because if i can pass and close both eyes on that scene with the OW i could never pass this dragged story....

Erotica lovers, with Heartless, the first book of Jade West's new series, Starcrossed Lovers Trilogy, you're in for a not-so-sweet treat!
"Her family had been on a mission to eradicate mine for decades."
The passion between Lucian and Elaine will ignite your kindles when those enemies can't seem to stay away from one another. It is hot, scorching hot, thrilling and dangerous.
"Shhh, secrets. Secrets. Never tell your secrets."
But there also is more to the book than the sex. The characters are well developed, I could only feel Elaine's anguish and need for pain and self-destruction.
Lucian's hate for everything Constantine related, mixed with his protectiveness contributed for the tension I particularly enjoyed in their relationship.
"He was a brute. An evil brute. A freak on a mission to tear down my family every single day of his life. An oath sworn in blood."
I'm definitely intrigued to know more about them and I can't wait to see the outcome of this series. I only wished we would have had more backstory about both the Morelli and Constantine families. More details about their activities and how they became mortal enemies would have considerably, and agreeably fleshed out a plot that remained nonethlesss enticing.

Heartless is the first book in the Starcrossed Lovers Trilogy and let me tell you it’s one hell of damn good intro. My favourite Jade West is back, the one I’m familiar with, the very same one who makes you uncomfortable, pushes your limits and makes you aware of new ones you didn’t even know existed, let alone you may have, the unapologetic Ms West who makes you question your own sanity and morals for liking all the possible deviations.
Elaine Constantine and Lucien Morelli are arch enemies, they belong to two rival families and were thought since a young age to despise each other. We don’t know why there is this big fight going on, and this is a point I would have liked to be more developed, some background history about the families would have been nice, I hope we’ll learn more in the next book.
Lucien infiltrates himself into a party held by the Constantines and Elaine captures his immediate attention, mind you his intentions are far from pure...
“Dominant didn’t come anywhere near describing what a dark, filthy fucker I was in this life. Nothing ever could”.
Lucien is one dirty, evil bastard who likes to degrade women and he’s always up to no good, of course, like the greedy hussy that I am, I was totally captured by his charm. What he wants to do to Elaine will have you both squirming and waiting impatiently to happen. This is the Ms West magic I adore.
Elaine Constantine on a spiral of self destruction, an addict, a disaster waiting to happen, although she may appear a junkie spoiled little brat she’s more than meet the eye, she harbours some dark secrets and trauma due to a dark past, of which we only scratch the surface, but we get a sick idea. I also hope this aspect will be explored more in depth.
Elaine and Lucien shouldn’t be together in the same room let alone feel any semblance of attraction however like a modern twist of the doomed love Romeo and Juliet had, these two can’t fight their pull towards each other

Just like these two can’t keep their hands off each other I couldn’t put this book down, I was devoured by my urges and dark needs for pain, blood and smut ohhhh so much of it, I’m still drooling and salivating at the prospect of the next book.
Lucien is the type of antihero “I do what I want, whenever I want” yet his father has a pull on him, I found that a bit contrasting with how he sees himself as all powerful.
We know the Morelli dabs in shady and sleazy business, it’s part of what makes Lucien who he is and also explain his actions, I can accept that and it works really well. What I really don’t like is the hint about trafficking women, that is such a big NO for me. As I said it’s only hinted, nothing plain or out there. So I really hope this will be cleared and amended.
Overall I really enjoyed this story and I’m looking forward to know what happens next.

Liked it! People were complaining about how dark this romance was, so of course that made me pick it up.😂
3 book trilogy.
The Evil mafia heir H is a sadist, the mafia princess h is a masochist, and a coke addict. There’s deep hate btw the families, but he’s obsessed with the h, and can’t stop stalking her!
On to book 2!

I DNF the 2nd book, because it had a pet peeve, sharing it so you can save your time, because if I had known,I would’ve skipped this series.
🤮The H is OTT obsessed with the h, because:
she looks like his first love🤢, that’s the reason why he’s fixated on her.
That girls also the first girl who’d captivated his fetishes. The first girl he had sex with, etc. So apparently the h is just a clone. That’s so flattering, said no girl ever! What a turn off.
This author is dragging the fuck out of this series too, the h is still a virgin at 70% In book 2 where I’d DNF.

This book was seriously not for me. When I started reading it, I knew it would be a dark romance, but this was just way too much.
I usually love characters (men) who are assholes (you know, in the healthy kind of way, I guess), but this was just too much. Lucien is a psychopath. I can't say anything else. He's in no way charming or even remotely sexy. The number of times he called Elaine a bitch (and many other degrading words) was sickening. My favourite was blonde Constantine bitch.
So, Lucien is the kind of man who sees other women as sluts and bitches and has no reservations about calling them that. Noted.

I'm not sure if I've read a Jade West before, but her reputation comes packing. And wow. This was an intense little book with a whole bunch of angst. I felt for the leading lady, felt for her pain and her struggles although she was a riiiiiich gal that seemingly had it all. The hottie of a man that is her leading man was EVERYTHING (and a little problematic on the side... but let's wait for book 2). These two had incredible chemistry. The steam was smuttyyyyy AF. All in all, this was an entertaining and painful read at the same time.

As Irunía would say, I skimmed like my life depended on it. I was expecting a D/s relationship with Sadomasochism but what I got was an off brand version of fifty shades. Lucien was made it seem like he was trying to hard to be an antihero Elaine was just a lost girl who needed to find herself before trying to be commanded by him.
I really like this author but the writing was not the best for this book.

Lucien Morelli, the devil, reigning over hell and head of the whole Morelli clan. Lucian is a true sadist and completely remorseless. He who owns a sex club where he shamelessly uses women, calling them whores.
Elaine Constantine, The embarrassment of the whole Constantine family, the party animal freak. She is a drunk and drug addict, who's biggest wish is death.
The moment Lucien sets his eyes on Elaine, he is obsessed. He wants her, to fuck, to hurt and ultimately kill her. Capturing Lucian's attention, ignites an obsession, one that could be end with a death sentence for both.
The hunter and prey game that Lucian is playing with Elaine is quite thrilling. And I'm really looking forward to the next book in the series.

lucian is a fucking babe i love him. he's a psycho but honestly, those are my favs <3 kinda wanna hug him because he is the only one who cares (in his own fucking way).
anyway, i'm ready to throw hands to elaine's fam because wtf??? poor girl is going through shit but they don't care? they call her a bitch for it?? fuck off.
very very very insta love but its the good kind because they aren't actually together and they are so confused about it LMAO.
i wanted to give this 4 stars but the writing was a bit off for me. i think by the next book i'll be more used to it.

Dark mafia. Romeo&Juliet retelling. Angsty. Abuse. Self-harm. Cliffhanger
This was one dark read. It has been a while since I read about such a broken heroine. Elaine is a drug addict alcoholic. She was victim to child abuse and practices self-harm. The scenes when she cuts herself are really intense. She is trapped by the expectations of others and such a sad, sad soul.
Lucian is an anti-hero asshole. I didn't like him one bit. We don't get much of his back story in this book, except for his obsession with Elaine. But he is equally damaged.
The whole book has a dark, violent feel to it. The danger of this world is almost palpable. It had me hooked and I can't wait to read the next book in the trilogy.

This turned very dark. I don’t know what to say. Will I be continuing the trilogy? Oh yes.
The is about Elaine and Lucian, both are from big, separate crime families, that are enemies. The setup is giving Romeo and Juliet vibes and it’s very well done.
Elaine is self destructive, she is cutting herself, doing drugs and has an unhealthy relationship with alcohol. She loathes herself and has few close friends. In the beginning of the story I struggled with her, but by the end my heart was breaking for her.
Lucian is of the same cloth, but instead of self harm, he satisfies his darkness by hurting others.
I have read a lot of Jade Wests books, and they can be brutal, so check the TW. I know this will develop into a love story, however this book was just the introduction to that, dont let that stop you because it was intriguing and I couldn’t put it down.
I am unsure if it’s a mafia romance or a stalker romance or where exactly it’s going from here, but I like that. I like that it doesn’t fall into a cookie cutter category of plots and tropes.
JW definitely had me at the edge of my seat. It addresses a lot of dark subject matter, there is real pain in this book and the last chapter definitely took me to a dark place. What is interesting is the setting in the story is glit and glimmer, and before you know it, the lights were turned off.
Should you read it? Yes
