There's always that one guy, right? So perfect he's guaranteed heartbreak.

For Hailey, that's Jack.

He's everything: handsome, athletic, kind. He's also hopelessly head-over-heels for Ella, laughing at everything she says, kissing her like he can't get enough.

Hailey could absolutely die.

But when Jack invites Hailey to lifeguard with him at a tony country club, Hailey jumps at the chance. Call her a glutton for punishment, but a summer of skimpy swimsuits, sun, and Jack by her side?

One last chance to steal him away before they all leave for college?

YES PLEASE.

Of course, Ella's there every day, lounging in her bikinis and lip gloss smiles. And the worst part? Hailey totally gets why Jack can't resist her.

Ella's got this teasing, mean girl attitude that keeps Hailey on her toes. There's something about her that makes Hailey's insides ZING! And then melt in the most delicious…

… uh-oh.

Guess the only thing worse than an impossible crush is having two impossible crushes.

CURIOUS is a 35,000 word contemporary NA MFF romance. Mature scenes intended for adult audiences only. Throuple HFN, no cliffhangers. First in series, can be read as a standalone.

First story by this author for me. I really enjoyed it!

There was a definite slow build.

Really enjoyed the dynamic between the three mains the author built. The story unfolds from Hailey's POV.

I tingled quite a few times!

Amazing how Jack could be so experienced, so mature, so caring. I think I loved him best!

I will definitely be checking out more by this author!

As someone who is bisexual I can't say enough about how good this book is. It definitely captures the first confusing thought process that leads to the realization that one is in fact, a bisexual. And the spice was 👌 So happy to finally read something with good representation 💖

Omigod!

...This was not at all great or enjoyable. Not a bit. Above is literally the MC way of thinking/talking. Eesh.

It was soo childish and Hailey is an awful character. The whole time she is obsessing pining for Jack who is like, so amazing. He's so gentle and caring and kind and wonderful and popular and gorgeous. He's totally the one. And, oh yeah, he's in a long-term relationship with Ella who he's been with for years. Hailey doesn't care. She has moments when she second-guesses things or will say that she's a bad person. But does that deter her? Nope. Not one bit.

Hailey plots the entire time of ways to get Jack alone, to flirt with, to make his hers. It's rather pathetic really. And she's horny af. I mean, fine, but like she's so turned on by thoughts of him (and them) that she can't wait to masturbate while at work...? Yikes.
[...]"Yeah, you should go over there and pick up an application. They have some openings, but they'll fill fast."
I have some openings I'd like to get filled fast, I did not say. But possibly due to saucy thoughts getting in the way, and because I didn't have a car and the bus took a hella long time, I accidently said this: "Why don't you drive me over there, after school?"

Now, some scenes were super hot. I'll give this book that. And I liked the way they were all included, rather the way they were all included when things got going. Jealousy doesn't show here (Well, during the scenes anyway. Obviously, Haily is super jealous of Ella since she got Jack.). At the pool, though. Great scenes. Multiple. Between Jack, Hailey and/or Ella. Again, Hailey's petty attitude gets in the way quite a few times...

I was nervous because none of us had a roadmap for this, but at the same time, that was the best part. No rules except the ones we agreed to. And it meant that I got everything I wanted, and so did they.

I will not be checking out the rest of this series. Especially since it seemed like it was going in a direction I am not interested in from the summary. Also, the writing style. And Hailey.

Another novel I blindly decided to read just to go through all my kindle books. I was not expecting this to be a MFF romance which is out of my comfort zone but once I started reading it I kept with it. The characters were very likable and the storyline was bearable. It helped that the characters were young adults. It made it a far more believable story than if these characters were in their late twenties or something.
It was a slow burn for sure. Nothing spicy happened until the last couple of chapters. Definitely don’t read this if you’re conservative.

I wasn't sure what to expect going into this book as this is the first by this author that I have read. I went in expecting a quick, hot, smutty read and that was exactly what I got. I read both this and the sequel in a day and a half and really enjoyed both. I like there some slow build-up but it's almost like it goes back and forth between being forthright and slow. I like really Jack and the patience he shows for both girls. I definitely want to check out more books by this author!

shockingly good

MFF isn't really my go-to read unlike MMF but the girl crushing on a boy that is unavailable just pulled me in. it was a simple and sweet read on how the characters went back and forth trying to admit their feelings. quite a lot of grammar mistakes especially towards the end of the book. probably writer was focusing on the "eheheh🤪 cumming" part muahahhaha!

“I didn't want to think about how the combination of Ella and Jack really got me going. All I knew was he had been The Guy for so long, and I couldn't sit with the feeling, or I might have to face whatever it was.”

Hailey has been infatuated with Jack for several years and is now working with him as a lifeguard at the country club pool in town. They went to high school together and now that they are graduated she is happy to still get to be around him. The only problem is that he is so in love with his girlfriend Ella. When Hailey gets to spend a bit more time around Ella she realizes she has feelings for her as well. The sexual tension between the three of them builds until one spicy night at the pool. This was a quick read that has some nice spicy scenes. I liked reading about the evolution of their friendship and the inner turmoil Hailey felt about crushing on a couple. I will say that this story did feel young and immature at times. I think I would personally enjoy this more if it was from the perspective of someone older or more mature. Overall it was a nice short read about a girl navigating her sexuality and feeling.

Tender Teen Romance

This is short, hot, tender and wonderful.
Hailey has had a crush on Jack for four years, and all of that time he has been seeing Ella, even after she graduates. It isn't until Ella is back for the summer that Hailey realises she wants Ella too.
The writing took me back to teenage days, the anguish, the fears, the sense of .of being entirely sure what was going on.
Brilliant.

Book birthday alert! CURIOUS is now available on Amazon and in KU!
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B08HYGLSG1

Here's an excerpt until Amazon gets it up:

First thing you should know is I would never, ever, evereverever tell anyone this story in a million years.

Except sometimes I wonder if there's another girl out there like I was, with an impossible crush. One that feels hopeless and laughable and like your life depends on it all at once, that doesn't fit any of the movie or storybook happy endings.

A crush that feels so dirty she feels like I did, like it was better to learn how to fake happiness. Until maybe, one day, maybe happiness would come. That's why I'm telling you now. But also? Fact check:

A) I had a glass of wine to get up the nerve and
B) I changed all our names, just to be careful.

If there was a 'C' in there somewhere, it would be something about how I try really hard to be a good girl. My dad left when I was six, and my mom had a rough time raising me by herself. So most of my life, knew love didn't look like storybooks, but it was real. And if you weren't on your best behavior, it might lose it. Good Girl is pretty fundamentally stamped into my personality. You know, do the right thing, make everyone happy. But there's also part of me that needs something a little bit different. Despite what it costs to keep that part of me around, she's brave as fuck.
She scares the crap out of me.

And she's on the clock right now.

I wasn't sure how I was going to feel going into this book. It was my first polyamorous book, and I have to say I really enjoyed it. I loved that it didn't go straight into the smut but focused on a backstory and allowed for a slow burn to take place to begin with.

On the downside, the ending of the book had grammar issues creep in which I feel is due to the author getting excited to finish the book, which I understand but would've preferred those not to draw me out of the scenes in the book.

I also felt the ending was rather abrupt. Once I'd turned the page and saw the words 'Epilogue' already, I was shocked. I guess that's down to me not wanting to finish the book, kudos to the author!

I've also just discovered there's more books in this series so I can't wait to carry on with it.

Favorite Pickup Line: Sorry, folks, there wasn’t a pickup line that gave me the feels on this read.

Post Date Recap: My personal threshold for posting my reviews is 3 stars and I will say that Curious did meet that requirement, however, I also can’t say I’d actually recommend this book.

Now I will wholly take the blame for part of my disappointment. I completely missed the little disclaimer at the end of the blurb saying “HFN” and was a bit grumpy with the ending. That said, I don’t know that I’d qualify the ending as even an HFN.

This is a fairly short story at 134 pages and there is a ton of steaminess although most of that is confined to Hailey’s internal thoughts, but this girl does appreciate some good self-love scenes in books which is what culminated in my 3 stars.

I was incredibly excited to read, because I am a fan of polyamory relationships played out well in romance. Emphasis on the well. Part of my issues came from this not including another POV besides Hailey’s. My personal taste for a solid polyamory story is that I want to be in all the characters’ heads so that I can see and feel their full, emphatic consent to what is commonly viewed as an unconventional relationship. In fiction, as in the real world, this is something that requires all parties being all in. The vibes I got from Ella were more that of a cleverly disguised mean girl who wanted to toy with Hailey than someone actually caring for her.

The sex scene was… okay? I was much more excited by Hailey’s fantasy induced self-love than the actual threesome that didn’t feel like all three really had their needs met in an equal way.

I wouldn’t warn anyone off from making this a book date, but please go into it knowing that the ending isn’t as fulfilling as you’d expect, even from an HFN and the relationship or characters aren’t well developed enough to encourage this particular reader to continue in this series and see where Hailey, Ella, and Jack wind up.

Independent reviewer for Archaeolibrarian, I was gifted my copy of this book.

I had high hopes for this book, the blurb pulled me in and I said yes to reading because of that pull.

The biggest thing, I think for me, was that only Hailey had a say. And I didn't really like her very much!

Had Ella and/or Jack had a say, I think I would have enjoyed it more. It would have tempered Hailey, but also, it would have given us a clue as to what Ella and jack were thinking about, when they so clearly set Hailey up. I wanted to know what it was that Ella and Jack wanted from Hailey, not just the physical side, but emotionally and moving forward. They had a plan, that much was obvious but I wanted the WHY and I don't get it.

An easy, not especially hawt but sexy (sorta) read, that didn't really push my buttons the way I hoped it would. A short read, that has a follow up. Will I read it? No, I don't think I will.

3 stars, only because I did finish it.

Quick read. Estimated time was about two hours, and I would say that’s fair.
So I made it my NYR to read/write outside my comfort zone, “Curious” by Jess Savage fit the bill.

The narrator, Hailey has a crush on Jack. The problem? Jack is taken by Ella, who Hailey also has a crush on. But Hailey gets a summer job at the local country club owned by Ella’s family and it turns into a summer she won’t forget.
Now onto some more spoiler-y stuff.

Things I liked:
I liked the main characters.
The realism of coming to terms with your sexuality.
The tension was done well.
Pacing was good.
The characters did have development by the end.
if you wanted, it could be a standalone.

Things I wasn’t a fan of
The constant use of Omigod.
Hailey seeming a bit clueless about everyone’s obvious feelings.
This entire review has been hidden because of spoilers.

Such a fun read! Only reason it took me so long was life stuff, but once I got to the second half, I couldn't put it down and stayed up frantically swiping pages and panting heavily. Set mostly in a country club around a swimming pool, Hailey crushes on classmate Jack, Jack starts paying attention but now Hailey realizes she's also crushing on his girlfriend Ella. Fun, summery read, slow burn at least halfway through with a few titillating moments but then wow, it heats up fast and stays hot until the end. Bonus points for flirty scenes that left me hot n bothered and craving more. Recommend reading while lounging poolside so you can sneak peaks a hot lifeguards and wonder if their mouth-to-mouth game is as hot as Jack's...

This story is so hot. Like light your underwear on fire hot.

Hailey loves Jack. Jack is with Ella. Ella might want Hailey. All this creates a recipe for great character development, drama, angst, and holy hot intimacy. I've read this whole series and the progression of their relationship faces realistic hurdles on top of being super steamy. This is a fast paced story with just enough plot to keep it interesting and all the 🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️ I also really love the fact that this is a MFF menage, because I feel like these relationships don't get enough attention in the romance world.

If you're looking for something intellectual and pretentious this story is not for you. If you're looking for something fun and yummy to read then this is right up your alley.

Picked up Curious through a 'pack your kindle' event as I was interested in reading more LGBTQ+ novels that had FF pairings.

I liked the premise of this book, but it felt rushed. It was short and there does seem to be many more books continuing the plot line, but going from Hailey crushing on Jake to her discovering her feelings for both Ella and Jake AND then acting on them all in 130 pages felt too soon. I need there to be more angst or build, or another POV outside of Hailey.

I'm keeping an open mind and following the story through to completion, but I hope it gets better from here.

Editing: This story also had a bunch of grammatical and typos which sometimes I had to draw out of the story to confirm what the author was really trying to get across.

My god was the writing horrendous. Like, 17 year old writing Wattpad smut type of bad. Even then it’s clear this was written by someone who hasn’t been a teenager sense 2001. The amount of unnecessary slag? Jesus it was cringe inducing. The awakes use of modern slag missed with the outdated use of 2000s made it so hard to take serious.

And after a 100 pages you get two chapters of smut and really badly written at that. Couple of spelling mistakes. And frankly pretty plain considering the situation.

It was just not good.

Hailey was pretty much a third wheel. The whole time Jack and Ella barely paid her any attention yet she was contstantly sticking around hoping they'd be interested in her.

Jack and Ella were never upfront about whether they liked Hailey. They pretty much just flirted/teased her and then they're suddenly throwing out the L word. I was hoping their interaction/buildup would be more natural and actually involve some conversations. How they got Hailey involved with them was something you'd see in porn. Quite dissapointing.

Hailey has always liked Jack, even fantasized about him, despite how he’s been a steady bf to Ella. During the summer, Hailey ends up working at the pool with Jack, & one night, they all end up tangled up together.

This MFF story was a bit slow to develop, but it was still nice to read.

I read this short story as a part of the boxset Two Are More Fun Than One- MFF First in Series Box Set, by Jess Savage.

Curious by Jess Savage – This was a freebie series starter, and it’s on kindle unlimited. I’m turning into Ariel’s dad from the little mermaid because the whole book I spent muttering to myself about rich teenagers with too much money and not enough supervision lol. But if you like teen romance and you lack the voice of reason in my head that says they are not mature enough to handle this kind of relationship, have fun! Happy Reading!

A strong 3+ stars for this short cute 18+ MFF story. Lots of high school hijinks, confused attractions, and daring sex. The core characters are true, no one plays games between them, though there are antics around them.

Not a deep story, not much angst except for the internal monologue. The build-up to sex was fun, and the pay-off was delightful.

I didn't really expect to enjoy this as much as I did. I'll be reading the next book in hopes that a longer story will be better.

The Story had Potential

This book sounded interesting & it was free on Amazon, so I decided, why not. It's short & feels a bit rushed. & to be honest it was a bit difficult to read because it had a lot of errors. Misspelled words, missing words, wrong words... It seems like whoever edited this didn't do a very good job. The story itself had potential, the sex scenes were pretty good... But would I read the sequel... Probably not.

The characters in this were 18/19 and it sounded like it, with the main characters inner monologue being quite immature and saying things like “omigod”. This would have been annoying for a more mature adult character, but I could just about handle it for an 18 yo. The book was a bit rushed, with all the characters having minimal personality, and there were a few times during the sex scenes where I was a bit confused what was going where! More HFN than HEA. Overall wouldn't really recommend.
