About the author

Shawn P. B. Robinson hails from the Great White North, and he suspects his dislike of cold and snow is part of what drives him to immerse himself in other worlds. Whether he’s writing epic fantasy or middle-grade humor, he passionately pours his heart into his writing, seeking to create characters that we can all relate to and stories that engage the heart and soul.

In Shawn’s early 40s, he contracted a viral infection in his brain (encephalitis) which left him unable to work a normal job, but able to write when he has energy. In the midst of such loss, Shawn’s family, faith, and writing have brought joy to his heart and continue to motivate him.

Shawn continues to make his home in SW Ontario with his beautiful wife, two sons, and three goldfish.

Okay yep, this was another fun break from other more serious reads. Yes, you either love the author's humor or you hate it (I might be a bit biased by this point). In that way, it reminds me of the Captain Underpants series, except I like this more. I seriously love every character in this series, with the exception of Hat Squirrel, who you just want to serve with a tennis racquet, ha ha! This book is a great companion to the second Arestana book, where you see the entire story from the squirrels' point of view. Jerry is much like the squirrel counterpart of Liam in that he's quite intelligent, but he's constantly surrounded by those who think he's stupid and incompetent and the really incompetent one, hat squirrel, is a genius, fearless leader. As you can imagine, Jerry is often frustrated! But like Liam, he has figured out it's easier to just let others think what they want to think and just keep on doing what you can to keep the peace and try to make things come out okay in the end. Unlike with the short stories, Jerry's inventions in this book actually work the way he envisions, and it's a lot of fun to imagine being able to invent so easily, lol. You do NOT have to read the 2nd Arestana book in order to read this one, but I think it's a lot more fun if you have. In any case, I really had fun with this book and I thank the author for the opportunity to read this book and trigger memories of the Arestana books (which I read a few months ago). Well done!

Got a hold of this book and it was so cool to read the Arestana: The Defense Quest story from a different perspective. The squirrel world is a different world indeed and if you thought the Defense Quest was a weird and funny story, then you're in for a whole other roller coaster of hilarious oddities.
Loved it!

Alright, here's the thing... this book isn't actually published, but somehow it ended up on my Goodreads' Author page. This is the unpublished backstory of Arestana II: The Defense Quest. It tells the story of the Squirrels and their attack on Kings-Home and their conquest of Earth. It's fun, but odd, and may never actually be published. As a result, I'm just going to throw my five-star rating on here and declare it to be awesome! :)

This was a fun Jerry the Squirrel book and I enjoyed it. I recommend this to anyone who wants a fun book that won't take very long to read.

Because I have only read book one in the Arestana series, I did not understand some of this book. That said, it was still very entertaining. Shawn Robinson knows how to appeal to a middle grade audience. I am more of a YA fan so I didn't appreciate this as much as I could've. I love how creative the world and characters are.

It's finally out! I love this book. I wrote it a long time ago, but I never published it until now. This book follows the Squirrel's adventures (from Jerry's perspective) as they attack Kings-Home and then visit earth! If you've love Arestana: The Defense Quest... then I hope you'll love this one too!

After reading Arestana (The Defense Quest), this book gives a hilarious back story to what was going on with the squirrels. I absolutely love the squirrels and how their little minds work. If you enjoyed the Arestana series, you will love Jerry the Squirrel: Hat Squirrel's Revenge!
