Frightening, especially now

There's a relevance to stories like this right now, in this particular political world climate. I enjoyed the story, but at the same time it kept occurring to me how possible it could be. Sadly, I can well imagine the character of many Americans who would easily capitulate if they thought they'd be protected by an enemy. It has been demonstrated in other places historically. We are no different. Sadly. Hopefully, there are more of us who'd fight to their last breath against those who wish our country ill.

The author has the steel to illustrate the terrible consequences to our country if we don't get our stuff (substitute word) straight, pay attention, and be prepared.

I've read a lot of Hunt's work and am always impressed. No preaching, just very real, plausible scenarios.

"You can't get lard unless you boil a hog."
This is an unusual post apocalyptic story, well written, proposing a situation where America has been invaded by Chinese troops some five years previously and the war was still continuing through various opposition forces, including a malitia. Certain personalities have achieved near mythical status, one of whom, the Hunter, is a main character in this story as he, with others, continues to battle for the right to stay alive.

Panic Ensues is the second of the Outlaws of the Midwest trilogy. Unfortunately, book one was not available on Audible so the audible reader is thrown straight into the story without the build up background, and it takes a little while to untangle what has gone before in order that the current book can be fully appreciated. Because of this, one star in the rating has been deducted. Not only the ongoing story but also characterization is built on book one. It is a tribute to the author that even with so much missing, this was an exciting and involving read. The ending is both surprising and encourages a strong desire to move on to book three.

Narration is by Chris Monteiro - a fine performance, clear, well paced and invested fully in the story. His voice is pleasant with good modulation and he gives individual voicing for all of the characters. Mr.Monteiro's reading adds to the pleasure of the book. I was fortunate in being freely gifted with a complimentary copy of Panic Ensues, at my request, via Audiobook Boom. Thank you so much. I hope that the audio book of the first in this series will be available soon, and with it also book three, which I definitely intend to read. Recommended.

This adventure continues with Miles, Gunner and the others still trying to overcome the Chinese and Russians. This one easily kept my interest as I always wondered what would happen next.

At time I was disappointed because I thought certain storyline were dropped after book one. But I just had to bide my time and most of them came along nicely.

This is a great continuation of book 1. I enjoyed it and it does answer some questions. I did listen to this one audio. Chris a Monteiro did the narration and I am happy to listen to him anytime. Very enjoyable!

This book has a lot of action and a lot of story development. It bogs a little in the relationship between Arianna and Gunnar, but I guess that would be expected as they are thrown together a lot and have many unresolved issues. The writing flows well and is decently edited (though Miles lost the "s" in his name a couple of times). It also really brings out the mistrust and uncertainty everyone has. Everyone you meet is "sus" and all too often they are shown to be an imposter. It is remarkable they are able to cooperate at all. I look forward to the next book.

Breath taking

First and foremost can't wait for the next book. Recommend it highly. The building of characters are exceptional. When I'm reading i try and imagine the out come or where the story goes. Also I build a love hate relationship with each character. You like adventure drama and excellent plot this series is for you. I can't get enough of the patriotism and the willingness to fight for what is right in this world.

A World that I find Scary

In reading these books I can't help but wonder if I could survive in this world. I find it terrifying, sad, and hopeless. We are so spoiled! There are always those vultures eager to take advantage of the average person. Will we be lucky enough to have a Miles to save us? These scenarios fascinate me. Thanks Jack Hunt for showing a possible reality.

Love everything by Jack Hunt.
This is no exception!
Miles & Gunner are like everyday guys who live like they are superheroes. Al of the side characters were great too. Would love to to know more about Snow. I think he was the most fascinating character of all.
Chris Monreiro did an amazing job narrating this series!
I was given this free review copy audiobook at my request and have voluntarily left this review.

Who's the snitch?

Book 2 starts off with the mercenaries. All that matters is money and pleasing the powers that be no matter the means. The Hunter is the main goal no matter what it takes or who needs to be used . The end justifies the means. Its a cliffhanger. Waiting to read more about Miles, Gunnar, Arizona and August and the USA. Great job. Thank you.

This was an amazing read. Non stop action, twist and turn really unexpected. Wish we could give it more than a five star. Can't hardly wait for the next installment.

Best book I've read in a long time! Miles Arrington is a great character, so are Gunner and Arrianne. I can recommend without reservation.

Bone-chilling action

When I first started reading this book it kind of a blur . But as i got to the middle it started to come into focus . The characters were very likeable (the good guys ) and the story picked up speed ! The ending had a couple downers in it . But the last pages made up for that . I cheered !

Interesting series. Good book.

I've always enjoyed reading Jack Hunt's books, though I thought this series was a little dark. With all the betrayals and lying going on in an America at war with another country, it was hard for me to to reconcile with my own feelings of America. This book brought it all into focus.

Action,Action,Action!

Once again this author did not disappoint me. Action wise he kept me anticipating what would happen next. The twists and turns were roller coaster like. No one got spared. It was very realistic. My only caveat was as I mentioned before I would have liked to see more diversity. Otherwise it’s great reading

Excellent Continuation

Mr, Hunt does have the remarkable ability to weave a story. This series keeps you interested from the very first page. It's also worth noting that he must have an excellent proofreader because mistakes are virtually nonexistent

Entertaining

America is at war. The war is not overseas. The war is on American soil and innocents are being tortured and killed by the millions. Do the citizens have what it takes to win?

Great story and Series

Great post crisis series. Jack Hunt does a good job of story telling with believable characters and environment. Never a dull moment and keeps the reader guessing as to who the good guys are and who the bad guys are in every scene.

A good read but pretty formulaic . Some survival tips are included if you read between the lines !

I have read several of these genre of futuristic novel series. Most are a good read such as this but the author seems to be the same but a different name.

In some stories you can predict what happens next, not in this series! Lots of twists and turns, totally intriguing.
