Dr. Judith Lucci is an Amazon bestselling author who writes what she knows. She is the author of the Alex Destephano Medical Thriller Series and the soon to be released Michaela McPherson, Private Eye, a series centered on a retired homicide detective from Richmond, Virginia who really can’t retire.

“Before I wrote fiction, I was an academic writer who published research, theoretical works, text books and just about anything a nurse or college professor needed to publish to survive. The differences in academic writing and writing fiction are dramatic. Writing what I know propels me to pull from my clinical experiences, some good, some not and use popular fiction as a means to teach and advocate for others. My books have three purposes, to engage the reader, to entertain them and to educate about healthcare and perhaps, the darker side of hospital life.

I am a nurse and hold graduate and doctoral degrees from Virginia Commonwealth University and the University of Virginia. I have always been a reader and a writer and I love it. I am a member of the Virginia Writers Club, The Shenandoah Valley Writers and Sisters in Crime.

When I’m not writing I am probably teaching, paining on silk as I am a multi-media artist or playing with my many dogs. Please feel free to contact me at judithlucciwrites@gmail.com. I am excited about meeting you!

I am so glad I read these in a row. Book 1, 2, and 3. The characters are so real, they feel like friends and enemies. I learned not to mess with voodoo, don't go to French Quarter late at night, and don't tick off Nick. I enjoyed all three of the books and recommend them to all mystery lovers.

Judith Lucci, Crescent City Chronicles - I like that there's an overview for all three books, so the reader knows what the book is about before reading it. I received this set from a website giving away free thrillers. 5*

Judith Lucci, Chaos at Crescent City Medical Center #1 - Full of intrigue. A well written, fast paced suspense novel with developed characters and a thought out plot. This is my first book by the author and I'm happy with the substance and intrigue that's thorough out the story. It's great to see a female lead character that isn't full of stupid and trying to prove it. Nice to read an edited novel, too. Being in the Big Easy made for a great plot by using the culture and beliefs from there, although voodoo and hoodoo are two different items. 5*

Judith Lucci, The Imposter #2 - Full of intrigue. This book starts six months after book one ended. Another well written, fast paced suspense novel with returning and new characters along with another interesting, intriguing plot, which keeps the reader glued to the end. 5*

Judith Lucci, Viral Intent: Terror in New Orleans #3 - More intrigue. This book starts six weeks after book two ended. Again, another well written, fast paced suspense novel with our favorite and new characters and an interesting, intriguing, twisting plot, which keeps you immersed until the end. Glad there are two more books after this one. 5*

Chaos is well written with colorful characters. Suspense and tension keeps you on the edge of your seat. New Orleans, Mardi Gras and voodoo. What more could you ask for? This is a must read!

Imposter is highly intriguing. There is a psycho on the loose in New Orleans. There has been a gruesome murder in the French Quarter. A nurse has been attacked after she finished her shift at the Psych Ward at a major hospital. An elderly patient is assaulted and killed. Who is responsible? Could it be a psycho patient? Someone posing as a hospital worker? Someone who has reached a crisis and snapped and is roaming the streets of New Orleans?
Judith describes her characters and the Big Easy so well you feel like you live there and know the people involved in the story.
Get your copy and come along on this wild roller coaster ride and find out the answers.

Viral Intent is a gripping novel. An unknown virus is on the rampage in New Orleans. A conference is going on for politicians. The president is attending. This story could be tomorrow's headlines. It is a terrorist attack.

All of these novels are well written and fast paced. There is no doubt that Judith has knowledge on the workings of a hospital and the medical field in general. Very good descriptions of her characters, of New Orleans, and of what is taking place. I highly recommend these novels if you like thrillers.

One of the key points that makes a top thriller stand out from the run of the mill crime and intrigue books is the attention to detail. This means either an author has done a huge amount of research or, if we are really lucky as readers, the author is an expert in the subject about which they are writing. The latter, which always makes for much better, more authentic tales, is what the ‘Crescent City Chronicles’ boxset has in spades. Author Judith Lucci has an impressive background as a medical professional and now turns her hand to writing thriller novels based on her years of practical experience. Prior to reading her work, the go-to person for medical thrillers was always Robin Cook, but that crown has now been firmly grasped by this writer.

Not only do the stories themselves, three complete novels in this boxset, seem to have been wrenched from the headlines of national newspapers, a testament to their worrying believability, but Lucci complete the task by creating a cast of characters we care about. Even her villains are outstanding, and here the bad guy in ‘The Imposter’ is of special mention (no spoilers). Add to this an uncanny ability to place the reader on the streets of New Orleans with her sensual descriptions of the sights, sounds, tastes and flavours of the Big Easy and you have a winner, or in this case three.

Alexandra Destephano, lawyer and nurse, is the legal counsellor of Crescent City Medical Center, and the main character in these three books, All of them are set in New Orleans after Katrina, taking advantage of both: the multiculturalism and colorful traditions of the city.
You can easily empathize with Alex, a very well rounded character. The same can be said about the supporting characters, police official Jack Francoise, and Alex's ex-husband, surgeon Dr. Robert Bonnet.
The mysteries are all interesting, fast-paced and well plotted, and you are pushed to keep reading and discover what comes next.
The only reason I didn't give these books 5 stars is because there are moments when the characterization (particularly when it comes to the bad guys) seems a little bit in-your-face, daring you to not see who the criminal is, and others when it falls in the usual mistake of telling too much, instead of simply showing.
But none of this will distract you from the books, and you're granted hours of entertaining reading.

Judith Lucci , writes a very detail books. Perhaps a little over the top detailing . Yet I enjoy a descriptive book and well built characters. It's almost a big deal when one of the main characters gets hurt or killed off. Her books keep you guessing and some parts you almost wonder if the information is fact or fiction. Interesting I was finishing the last book in this 3 book series on 9/11/2020 and 19 years after that tragic event in New York at the Trade Towers. It's not a day I'll ever forget and I know it is always possible that a group again may slip through our borders to cause that pain again. Judith brought that all back and I think the last book ended in a way I didn't expect it to end. That is a good thing though and it makes me want to buy her last book in The Alex Files . Very good read just gave it 4 stars because it was drawn out more than I thought she needed to do. But who am I not a real writer of novels .

I have been a fan of Judith Lucci's books for years. I love that she writes about two locations that I know and love - Virginia around Richmond and New Orleans. I love that her background as a doctorate in nursing means that she can explain the politics, both internal and external, that hospitals have to deal with. Her plot lines are also intriguing (and somewhat worrisome in that Lucci bases her plots on facts). I always set aside a whole day for reading when I open one of Lucci's novels and put up a "Do Not Disturb" sign; I want to immerse myself in the world she paints.

It's wonderful that Lucci has gathered all of her Crescent City Chronicles: The Alexandra Destephano Novels in one wonderful boxed set.

Very fun reading! Grab your own box!

I can not praise this series enough! I received an ARC and am voluntarily reviewing. It took me a while to get to this book set, and to be honest the title didn't really capture me. I wish I'd started reading sooner. Started on the weekend. Didn't stop until I'd finished reading all three. The story lines are frighteningly realistic (if you know much about New Orleans and its history), the characters are brilliantly flawed and perfectly developed, and each book brings a unique twist to the medi-legal/crime/thriller genre (if that's a genre - I made that up). I'd not read anything by Judith Lucci before but I will definitely be reading more now!

Judith Lucci has a winning combination in this series- the world of a top-notch hospital and a murderer on the loose. A taut, fast paced series, the books are stand alone stories but linked by the main characters. Alex is a nurse who is now the hospital's lawyer, hence understands the full ramifications of what is happening. Each book is very interesting, and cannot be put down easily... i read each of them in one sitting. An absolute must read series.

Review of Viral Intent

This is a review of the third book in this series. Reviews of the first 2 books were done separately. A very chilling, scary book about Jihadists that are killing people with a deadly virus. Juduth's books not only are very scary but they make the reader really think about things that can really happen. Excellently written. Once I start reading, I can't seem to put it down until I am finished!

Excellent bookset!

Alex, legal counsel for CCMC, finds herself drawn, through 3 books, to murder and political mysteries, which include psychopaths, terrorists, and suspicious viruses.
Judith Lucci is one of my favorite authors. Her books are always wonderful stories which keep you on the edge of your seat through unexpected twists and turns!

Some pretty good, some really bad

Writing not bad, a few typos. Very repetitive dialogue. Very dark and horrific one sentence, laughing and carefree the next. Nine tenths of the third book detailed and in depth no ending in story line time, just summarized in epilogue. Almost like cliff notes for the final 2 chapters. Not bad stories, just not polished

Amazingly Intense Trilogy

Each book is full of very real loveable good characters and truly evil bad characters. The main character goes through greater and greater confrontations and personal attacks. Through it all she overcomes and remains positive. Glad there were only three tales. My heart couldn't take any more.

The first three of the Alexandra Destephano series are well plotted with characters you tend to like. Alex is a little more emotional than most lawyers/nurses I've met. The police chief is very much like Pete Marino in the Patricia Cornwell Kay Scarpetta novels. The stories are plausible but I thought there could have been a little better editing and proof reading.

Intriguing Medical Series

The Big Easy is a party town but it’s also a place of passion, murder and romance. Crescent City Medical Center and New Orleans are the setting for medical mystery and intrigue. Recommend.
