Awakend is written by an onymous poet under the pseudonym of Hydrus. This is a very unique poetry collection in that the book incorporates tarot cards of not only pictures and themes but also the structure of the book as well. The first half of the book, you read to the right. The last half, you flip the book over and finish reading the remaining poems. The poems themselves were splendid as well. I’m a huge fan of rhyming poetry, and thought the lines flowed like a river. I’m giving Awakend 4.5 stars. I’m taking .5 away because I noticed a few typos, but other than that, I enjoyed reading his poetry and would recommend it to other poetry readers!

I finished 𝒜𝓌𝒶𝓀ℰ𝒩𝒟 and boy what a reading experience! Not only are the poems amazing but the reading experience of this book was so unique! I really enjoyed this poetry book. ⁣

Hydrus can string up some beautiful imageries and the most amazing rhyming poems. It was a wonderful read and the whole aesthetic of the book is just stunning! 😍⁣

The poems touch on many different topics, a lot are dark and emotional and will hit you in different ways but will definitely bring out those emotions. I’m really looking forward to reading Hydrus second book now, ENDvisible! 🖤⁣

🖤💀I am quite literally obsessed with this book of Poetry🖤💀

Every single poem spoke to me; I was smiling like a fool pretty much the entire time. By the second poem, I knew this was going to take a spot on my “Infinity Stars” shelf🖤

AwakEND is one of the most unique poetry collections I’ve experienced. It weaves together the art of tarot and poetry, offering an immersive and reflective reading experience. The book is structured around five Major Arcana cards - The Moon, The Fool, The Lovers, Judgement, and Death. Each card, or section, is paired with poems that represent both its upright and reversed meanings. You can read the book one way, then flip it to explore its reversed side, creating a dual-layered journey.

🖤”Your beautiful darkness is as endless as the light buried in your heart.”

I am still in awe of the formatting and the creativity that went into this. The poetry itself is another testament to _hydrus’ brilliance and incredible writing. I keep revisiting my favorite poems, and much like Tarot, their meanings shift depending on my current perspective or life situation.

This is something I've noticed in all of _hydrus' poetry collections. Each time you read them, certain poems will stand out more than others at times, or you discover new meaning, allowing you to interpret them differently with every encounter. It's this quality that makes _hydrus' work feel deeply personal and ever-evolving, always offering something new no matter how many times you return to it.

🖤”You awakened my soul with the only darkness I ever loved.”

Awakend what a swirl of emotions. This particular collection is broken into themes like Tarot cards, I found that fascinating. It’s also upside down, something I don’t see often. What I love from it is that we get it all. We get love, anger, despair, darkness, hope. Hydrus has a way that makes you connect with his words. Let’s just say that a particular poem did make me shed a tear. I’m glad I own it and definitely recommend ❤️

I'm usually not a poetry reader, but guess what, hydrus changed that.
His poetry flows, it is not like the old works, which you hardly understand, you can identify with his poetry.
I'm glad I gave this book a chance and found my love for poetry ones again.

I read this in paperback. This is an unsolicited review.

This is the second book I’ve read from anonymous poet _hydrus. As I said with the first one I read (darkEnd), I will definitely be buying more (as of this review, it appears he will be releasing a new one any day). This collection was, for me, the perfect length. While I tend to prefer poetry books in the 150-200 page length, this one at just over 100 still felt just right.

I love the layout and artistic license taken. You read the book, each section named after one of five tarot cards to the end, turn the book over and read from back to front, those same five cards drawn reverse. I found this quite clever and easy to follow his line of thinking. The cards themselves are clearly from the _hydrus deck (meaning he created the art) as they include his raven symbol and his art style, which I quite enjoy. Simple but symbolic.

The book contains all rhyming poetry, ranging from just a few lines up to a single page. I appreciate that it was not formulaic or repetitive; each piece easily stands on its own but also reads well as a whole.

Once again, it clear this author/artist puts a lot of thought into his design and creation. It’s a work of art in and of itself, though I preferred the photography and graphic art from the previous book more than the art here, this art makes perfect sense in its context.

My favorite sections are Upright Death, Reverse Moon, Reverse Fool, Reverse Death... which surprised me. I would have thought the death cards would not have been my favorite but the poetry hit me just right. He includes some really hard-hitting, deceptively simple at times, poems and I really appreciate that.

I’ll end on a similar note as before because it’s equally applicable. From its handsome cover to the font chosen to the artistic embellishments to the poetry itself... this is another gem. Highly recommended for those who appreciate dark modern poetry with creative out-of-the-box delivery. This book gets another 5/5.

This is definitely one of the most precious books I own. I loved it so so much! Whether it's for _Hydrus' s incredible writing or the unique formatting of the pages.
It became the night routine I look forward to all day, when baby is sleeping and I can enjoy some me time, going through his poems.
I can't get enough of them, no matter how many times I read them. Each time hits hard like it was the first.
I really wasn't a poetry girl, until I discovered this anonymous poet. I never thought I'd love it this much, and I can't wait to read all of his work!
I recommend getting it on paperback, because the formatting is so gorgeous and unique you'll need to experience with a physical copy.
The included beautiful graphics created by _Hydrus as well make this poems collection just perfect.

We all enjoy a little bit of poetry every now and then. Poetry is so beautiful and meaningful. Poetry turns words into art. Poetry is a personal thing. Every poet, writer, put their emotions, their feelings on a piece of paper, so when you read them you feel every word. Feel their pain, their loss, their love, their lust. Every poet has his unique way to express himself. Some write dark poems, some write love poems, some write sensual erotic ones, and others write a little reminders that the life is always worth living. With whoever you relate and connect most, you feel their words.
Hydrus poetry is dark. Deep. Emotional and heartbreaking. Is about loss and love. And so much more. His words are like spell on you. Once you start reading them, you want more and more. So addictive. You get lost in his poems. You lose track of time. And that is exactly how a good book should make you feel. Lost between its pages.
We all have lost someone close to us at some point in our life. We all have experienced grief somehow.
A friend once told me that "emotions are easier to describe when you are hurt." And this is so true.
When you're hurt, when your heart bleeds inside, we see it with the tears in our eyes. And when those tears turn into words, we feel them with our whole being.
Poetry can hurt, but also it can heal. Because poetry speaks to the soul in a way everyday conversation cannot.
Go get this book and read it. Feel every word and let it speak to you. Let them touch you. And if you still haven't read his work, you miss a lot. Trust me, he will become very quick one of your favorite poets of our time.

From the stylistic choices and setup of the book to the poems themselves, Hydrus has delivered on the hype I had for his second book!

I’ve never read a book setup like this before! You start off reading it like a normal book and when you get done with the first half, you FLIP IT UPSIDE DOWN for the second half! Not to mention the sections are divided like tarot card readings!

I felt as though Hydrus really experimented a lot more with this book compared to his first, Endvisible, and I absolutely LOVE the result!

Of course, the poems themselves are amazing as well! I like that his poetry has a more spiritual and purposeful vibe to them. The content is also something that is very relatable.

Overall, I love Hydrus’s work and it’s a close call between which of his books I like better!

Such a uniquely written poetry book. I was intrigued from the beginning with the whole concept: read it one way then another.

Beautifully written, each poem will leave you with the thoughts and feelings you've never experience before. As usual Hydrus writes with his soul and reaches you with each and every word.

Absolutely gorgeous experience reading this collection of poetry. The smallest of details were take into account putting this together beyond the beautiful words. I love reading poetry as you can come back and read again and take something else away depending on your own emotions and experiences. Look forward to future releases from this author.

This was such a unique read. It is different from the other books. I loved that once you finished you get to flip it over and start again. This is a one of a kind read as I’ve never read anything like this before. It was intriguing and mysterious. I love how this anonymous poet expresses his words through this form of art. This writer has a beautiful soul with beautiful words.

4.5 ⭐️

Have you ever felt so lost that you wonder if there is any hope left. Any chance that a glimmer of happiness will ever grace your bleak existence once again. And then one day, you wake up and everything seems just a tad brighter and a bit more hopeful. Life starts making sense again and you no longer feel lost. The pieces of yourself start to meld back together and you begin to feel whole again.

That is the feeling I got from this collection of poems. Each page took you through a journey of self discovery through grief, anger, desire and glimpses of happiness. It shows you that we are all just a bit broken but can be put back together again with time and patience.

Poetry is such a great conveyor of a myriad of emotions. Hydrus has such a unique way of portraying this in his writing. This book is a great example of that. It can be read right side up and then upside down. It definitely is an attention grabber! Make sure to check out this book and see it for yourself.
