I've never in my life wanted to smack two people so mother effing much! Holy crap. FRIGGIN MORONS!
Damon, you are so dang stupid. I get it. You've been a dick for a lot of years and it takes time to change BUT BEING A BOSSY ASSHOLE is NOT the way to fix things!
Beth, you stupid stupid stupid girl. JFC. I see some of your points but COMMUNICATION you idiot.
I loved this book so much! I listened to this book on audible, and Joe Arden is the narrator. He is a perfect Damon, who is a sexy gorgeous alpha-male and Bethany his fiancee. This is book 2 in the Billionaire Alpha series and of course I listened to Book 1 and I finished book 3. But I forogt to write a review, so I will say if you love hot romance story with billionaire alpha male and Joe Arden narrating, then you really need to listen to this book. The secondary characters are perfect for the flow of this storyine. I especially love Matt, Damon's younger brother, he is so funny. I enjoyed this book and look forward to listening to more of Ali Parker's books.
This is the second instalment of Bethany and Damon's story so when it starts the characters, for the most part, are like old friends and because of this, you want to help them as they struggle with trying to navigate the demands of work, family and their complicated relationship. In the first book, all my sympathy was for Bethany as she struggled to come to terms with everything happening to and around her. But in this book my feelings went the other way, I was team, Damon all the way. Why you might ask? Well, I'll try to explain, Bethany now has everything she could possibly want, she's completing her Masters, will never again have to worry about money, she's working as a TA to a wonderful professor, Kendal who just happens to be Damon's best friend. She's advancing within the firm and she's engaged to Damon what more could she possibly want?
Damon for his part is making so many changes to his attitudes, but their situation is complicated, their parents have married and they are step-siblings although there is no blood relationship. They are engaged to be married but until she finishes her Masters he wants to keep those facts secret in the workplace. His reasons for this are to protect her and make her life in the office easier. The only thing he does wrong, in my opinion, is that he doesn't take the time to explain his reasons to Bethany, he just requests that she not wear her ring at work!
Bethany for her part feels that he's ashamed of her! and when work pressures mean Damon is spending long hours at the office she rather than talking things out reacts like he's just trying to avoid her! There were times when I wished someone would talk sense to Bethany, she's won the guy why is she so needy? Why is everything Damon does wrong?
I felt bad for Damon and angry at Bethany, she doesn't try to work with him and he's trying to do everything he can to make it work. Damon may not go about things in the way she thinks he should but he loves her so much and she doesn't see it or want to work with him. I was crushed at the end and only hope they can work things out in the next and final instalment of their story.
As well as Damon and Bethany's story Ali Parker is also developing the sub-characters whose stories are so interlinked, I love Matt, Damon's younger brother. I really felt for Jake Bethany's friend from College and as for Kendal, her sexy professor well he definitely deserves to find someone - I wonder if he will?
The narration by Joe Arden is excellent as usual, he brings such depth and feeling to Ali Parker's wonderful characters.
The best part of book two was the storyline about the crazy friends and Kendall…though the details were far and few between and not nearly as dramatic as could have been.
By this book, I was sick of the dynamic between Beth and Damon. It was repetitive. I listened to this on audible for free, but would have been disappointed if I purchased it.
Well this is my first official DNF. This book was terribly written in my opinion. The story line is so cringy and it has nothing to do with the fact that it’s her step-brother. I am all about forbidden romances so normally that would be up my alley.
The MMC is a broody billionaire that is supposedly incapable of relationships so you would kind of expect there to be resistance in the relationship. But no… after 3 weeks of even meeting each other he is proposing to her!! Sooo unrealistic.
The FMC might almost be the most annoying person of all time. It is clear she is waaayyy to immature to be in an age gap relationship. She is needy and insecure.
Although a minor issue, I also can’t get over the amount of times the word “slacks” is used instead of pants.

OMG, if I could actually transport into a book and smack the crap out of Bethany I sooooooooo would right now!!! As I'm reading this story I was happy and excited for them, then feeling bad for Damon and pissed off at Bethany big time, she is indeed blowing alot of things out of proportion that doesn't need to be and won't even try to work with him as he is trying to do everything he can to make it work.... I wish I was in her shoes having someone want me, Damon loves her without fathom and she doesn't even see it or want to, I hope it all works out in the next book or I will be crushed!!! 😥
Loved the first book and was really excited to read book 2. Then my excitement crashed. I would like to tap Damon on the shoulder and tell him to walk away from Bethany. First, if men shouldn't hit a woman then the same should be true for a woman. It is also considered abuse. Secondly, someone needs to give Bethany a juice box and put her down for a nap. She acts like a 4 year old.
this book could of been done in one book but it has been spread out in three books. this second one was literally just a back and forth in miscommunication and teen angst drama. him telling her to grow up. her telling him he's an ass. the sex scenes were steamy and the narrator is always great.
God, I can’t believe I keep reading this series. The main characters, Bethany and Damon, are absolutely insufferable, and their relationship is completely toxic. Damon treats her like shit, and while he claims to love her, he really only ever seems interested in her beauty and having sex with her. When she calls him on his bullshit and mistreatment of her, he tells her (and everyone around them) that she’s being overly emotional and sensitive, that she’s young and inexperienced and needs to grow up. And then she forgives him, they have a night of good sex, and they think it’s all good until he treats her like shit again, and lather, rinse, repeat. It’s infuriating.
If I didn’t like so many of the secondary characters and want to know how their stories are going to play out, I’d DNF this series in a heartbeat. This series feels like ragebait. Does anyone actually think Damon and Bethany’s relationship is romantic and swoon-worthy? I wish they’d both just sign up for individual therapy and go no-contact with each other. They’re the worst.
This installment of the series actually got me upset. I was really infuriated by the lack of communication between Beth and Damon. The holiday in Jamaica celebrating the wedding of both of their parents the highlight so anything that happened after that point was just enough to tip me over the edge.
I tried so hard not to lose my interest but kept going until the end of the book. I am just hoping that book 3 brings it all full circle.
It seems like book one was about fighting everything to prove they would support one another, this book was about reality showing that wasn't going to happen.
this book pulled out all the ugly tears. So Damon and Bethany are together but trying to deal with being engaged and working together. Different people get into Damon's head about how quickly the relationship is moving and he begins to push Bethany away. I went through so many different emotions FOR Bethany as she dealt with Damon and his mood swings. But one thing I have to say is that .. I absolutely love how Kent Treated her as his she had been born his daughter and gave her the love and support she never got from her own dad. This book was a roller coaster of feelings.
Well that escalated quickly. Suddenly Damon is ready to love Bethany and in 3 weeks wants to marry her?! But they have to keep it a secret?! Come on both of you. I understood Damon being hesitant with the work/family dynamic but that could have been such as easy conversation. And Bethany should have told Damon what was going on. And while I thought her reaction at the end was immature/extreme, I found Bethany being the most strong and confident she has been through this series.
Unfortunately I DNFed more than half way through I just couldn’t deal with the characters anymore. Damon was such an asshole in my opinion like usually I like that the guy is like that but then changes for the girl he falls for but he never changes. He stays an asshole and it just got too annoying for me. The book itself was just a little slow and I just couldn’t take it anymore. This is the second book I’ve ever dnfed so I was trying hard to push through it. Sorry 😕
Three weeks is crazy! I kept thinking that since I was on the second book I was further along but cmon now. Beth has ALOT of growing up to do. D was right when he said she needs to be more mature in the office and their dad was right saying he needed to be more like her outside of work. You’re the one who asked for HER hand so yeah you do have to work a little harder. Considering though, I y defiant why he is the way he is

I wanted to jump in and smack the crap out of Damon first and than Bethany. This would be a definite five start book if there wasn't so much repetitive information. It's still the same taboo crap and now Damon is being a butt and Bethany is being a whiny butt. I'm so conflicted. I really like the books I bought them but it's the same thing constantly.
This was a great follow up in the series. Although the female character could be a hothead, she took no shit from anyone including her Bossy, arrogant love interest. the storyline touches a taboo subject but very tastefully. the changes in the characters were apparent as the storyline continued. this book was awesome!
The first book started out so well but the second book was such a disappointment. The FMC is annoyingly immature and the story just seems to drag its feet (worse then their actual relationship - or lack there of.
Needless to say I was surprised because this book is rated so highly on Goodreads...
Damon doesn’t have BDE. He’s just a dick. He’s a narcissist that wants Bethany to change to meet his needs, but isn’t willing to look in the mirror. It ends on somewhat of a cliffhanger. So I’ll probably read in the next book in the series. But the characters need to get WAY better.
This book just wow. What an emotional roller coaster. It had me hooked from start to finish. That ending had me in tears. Gah. I hope book 3 gives some happiness!!
2.5 - the main characters are annoying af but something about these audiobooks are kinda addictive (been binge listening to the series the past two days).
