Pru Kilcannon has one goal when she wakes on Christmas Eve – to perform the most “Random Acts of Christmas Kindness” so she can spread cheer and ensure her high school wins the county-wide “RACK IT UP” contest. But when her friends decide to team up with their boyfriends, the ever-helpful Dogmothers enlist the new kid in school as Pru’s partner for the contest. And that means good-girl Pru has to spend the entire day with the broody, moody, and crazy cute bad boy Lucas Darling, and his chaos-causing greyhound, Tor.
As if that wasn’t enough holiday havoc, Pru and Lucas have to accompany the grannies on a secret mission to check out a man Yiayia has met on an online dating service. Gramma Finnie is convinced Aldo Fiore is a mobster, Yiayia thinks he’s her dream man, and Pru just wants to be sure her great-grandmothers don’t get themselves arrested — or worse. There’s no telling what could happen when the Dogmothers spy on an eighty-year-old who might be playing a rather flirtatious Santa at the mall…or might be hiding from the Feds.
But no one expected the real trouble to come from Tor, the former racing dog who causes mayhem and mall madness. As Pru and Lucas attempt to control Tor, supervise the Santa Stalking, and knock out a few random acts of kindness…they also give in to a delicious little Christmas crush that just might lead to some magic under the mistletoe this year!
I don’t know about you, but when I check out an author's bio, it’s usually because I’ve read a book I liked and wondered about the person behind it. Let's skip the formal bio and I'll give you the inside scoop on who Roxanne St. Claire really is.
First of all, call me Rocki. Everyone does. Evidently, when my mother brought me home from the hospital I seemed too scrawny and small to pull off “Roxanne” (she’d read Cyrano de Bergerac while pregnant or I would have been Judy) so they called me Rocki.
I grew up in Pittsburgh, PA, the youngest of five (overachievers, every one), and fell in love with words and stories the summer I read Gone With The Wind. That year, for my twelfth birthday, my parents gave me a typewriter (with italic font – it was the coolest thing) and from that day on, I’ve had my fingers on a keyboard, pounding out love stories for fun. My AP English teacher taught me the two most important lessons an aspiring author ever needs: 1) verbs are the key to life and 2) a writer should get a real job. After attending UCLA and graduating with a degree in communications, I tried acting and television broadcasting. Oh, they aren’t real jobs? I learned that the hard way. I changed my last name from Zink to St. Claire because a news producer told me Roxanne Zink had too many harsh consonants for a TV personality – apparently Katie Couric didn’t get the memo. I got some fun gigs, and even met Tom Hanks when I did a guest appearance on Bosom Buddies. I liked on camera work, but wasn’t too crazy about starvation, so I moved to Boston and got that “real” job. In fact, I placed my foot on the bottom rung of the corporate ladder and didn’t look down until I’d climbed all the way up to the level of Senior Vice President at the world’s largest public relations firm. On the way up, I met the man of my dreams in an elevator. Two years later – in the same elevator! – he asked me to marry him and I wisely said yes.
I stayed in PR, moved to Miami, had a few babies, lost my home in a hurricane, built another one a few hours north and all along, I kept writing my “stories” for fun. One night, I read a particularly fabulous romance novel that changed my life for good. That night, I decided I wanted to make someone else feel as whole and happy as that author made me feel. (Everyone asks! It was Nobody’s Baby But Mine by Susan Elizabeth Phillips.) With two small children and one big “real” job, writing my first novel wasn’t easy, but I did finish a manuscript that managed to get the attention of a literary agent. She told me to do one thing and one thing fast: write another book. (The first one is usually a “learner” book, honestly.) That second manuscript sold to Simon & Schuster’s Pocket Books and was released in 2003 as Tropical Getaway. Since then, I’ve written almost thirty more, in multiple genres, and long ago replaced the corporate ladder with the rollercoaster of publishing as a full-time novelist. Finally, writing is my real job.
Today, I live in a small beach community in Florida with my husband and two dogs. Our kids are off to college and law school, which means my nest is empty! I spend my time writing, working with the kids at my church, enjoying my husband's gourmet cooking, and hanging with my many writer friends. Of course, I love to read. I’m still crazy about words and stories and hope to write at least a hundred books in my lifetime. And, yes, verbs are the key to life. My favorites? Love. Work. Believe.
Book 5.5 in the Dogmothers matchmaker series. Can be read as a stand-alone but best read as part of the series. Another holiday novella with the grannies and Pru. Christmas at the mall for random acts of kindness, a school project for Pru and new student Lucas goes a bit off track when Tor, a rescued greyhound, finds a puppy. While Pru and Lucas are busy, Grannies Finnie and Agnes stalk the mall Santa who seems to be running from the FBI. Its a Christmas Eve for good friends and family.
What a delight this short book was. Perfect read for Christmas time. I love the grandmothers so much. They are great at matchmaking and funny. I adore their friendship with each other.
Roxanne St. Claire once again gives her readers the perfect Christmas gift with her latest installment in The Dogmothers' series. Feliz Naughty Dog had me laughing out loud repeatedly, shaking my head at Yiayia and Gramma Finnie's antics, and happily sighing as General Pru met her match in Lucas Darling and his greyhound Tor.
I love the Christmas story Ms. St. Claire writes each year. They are always such funny and emotionally satisfying stories, and Feliz Naughty Dog was yet another perfect Christmas tale. Gramma Finnie and Yiayia are such fun characters. I love their friendship and how they always there for each other. I also love how Pru is the honorary third Dogmother, and how she always watches out for her two great-grannies, and the three of them always make me smile. I have to say I loved seeing a different side of each of the Dogmothers in Feliz Naughty Dog. Gramma Finnie and Yiayia had me laughing out loud more than they usually do as they spied on Aldo Fiore for Yiayia. The high jinks from their spying had me wiping tears from my eyes. Pru is always so serious and on task, yet when Lucas and Tor joined their trip to the local mall, she totally had to give up on her original plans and help out Lucas and Tor. I loved watching Pru and Lucas become true friends as they tried to keep Tor out of trouble, find a missing puppy in the mall, watch out for Gramma Finnie and Yiayia, and try to earn points for "RACK IT UP."
Feliz Naughty Dog was such a delightful, funny, sweet, and beautiful story. I was pulled in from the very first page and couldn't put this book down. I'm big on reading books in a series in order, but even without knowing the entire history of the series feel reading this book would put a smile on your face and love in your heart. I can't wait to see where the Dogmothers take us next in the series!
Prudence Kilcannon Bancroft is the Dogfather’s granddaughter. She plans to spread holiday kindness with her friends for a county-wide contest. However, Prudence finds herself paired with the new kid instead. She and Lucas, along with his dog, accompany the Dogmothers to the mall. Mayhem follows them. Can Prudence and Lucas gain the necessary points for their school? What other misadventures will the teenagers face? Lucas Darling is the son of an 80s actor. He and his greyhound Tor move to Bitter Bark, North Carolina, from California. Lucas needs community service hours, so he joins the county-wide contest. He ends up paired with Prudence Bancroft and the Dogmothers. Tor creates all kinds of problems for Lucas and Prudence at the mall. Can Lucas trust Prudence enough to open up? Will Tor deliver the best kind of Christmas miracle? Prudence has been an important side character in both THE DOGFATHER and THE DOGMOTHERS series. So, I was hesitant about her getting a story. I will admit Roxanne St. Claire executed Prudence’s first brush with love beautifully. I love how Prudence enjoys spending time with the octogenarians. Most teenagers would rather spend time with their friends than their family members. What I admire the most about Prudence is her quick defense of Lucas. She did not want others to get the wrong impression about him like she did at first. Lucas is such a sweetheart. I hope he will make frequent appearances in future books. I like Lucas’ temperament. He may be from a big city in California, but he never brought its mentality to North Carolina. What I admire the most about Lucas is how he takes responsibility for Tor’s actions. He understands that Tor has issues, but he does not know how to help his dog with them. Lucas may scold Tor, but he never physically reprimanded him. FELIZ NAUGHTY DOG is book seven in Roxanne St. Claire’s dog-orientated contemporary series, THE DOGMOTHERS. It is important to read the prior series and the previous books and novellas to appreciate the three families and their dynamics. I adore how Gramma Finnie and YiaYia’s friendship has grown throughout the books. The two octogenarians really complement each other perfectly. FELIZ NAUGHTY DOG is an inspiring tale about the follies of judging people by their appearances. I love how the story’s moral takes precedence over the holiday theme. I cannot wait for the Dogmothers’ next escapade.
A Christmas story in this series is always fun to read. I liked how this time the Grannies didn't have a specific person in mind with their matchmaking. Instead they end up pushing Pru towards a boy and one of the Grannies themselves is at the middle of a romantic interlude. Of course things go a bit wonky and chaos ensues on all fronts. But at the end love, or the budding of it comes through.
what a great way to end the year with a fun holiday book. This book will make you laugh and bring joy to your life. Not only are the dog mothers at it again, but Pru is trying to keep them out of trouble. There is antics involving dogs and lots of holiday spirit going on in this book. I really enjoyed this book. ** I received a copy of this book in exchange for a honest review**
Feliz Naughty Dog, by Roxanne St. Claire, is the 7th book in her Dogmothers’ Series. In this book, there is an interesting twist to the Dogmothers’ matchmaking skills that involve high schoolers and senior citizens. Gramma Finnie’s great-granddaughter, Pru is without a partner in a contest between all the high schools in the county. Which school will be able to spread the most “Random Acts of Christmas Kindness” or RACK by Christmas Eve? As fate would have it, the new student in town, Lucas Darling and his greyhound, Tor are without a partner, too. Pru is reluctant for him to join her because there are lots of rumors about Lucas and why he moved to Bitter Bark.
Yiayia has a new man she met on a dating website but Gramma Finnie is sure he is a mobster. He’s playing Santa at the mall so they want to scope him out. How bad could he be if he plays Santa? They all head over to the mall and the shenanigans begin. Tor gets Pru and Lucas in trouble as they try to RACK up kindness points for their high school. Meanwhile, the Dogmothers are doing a little sleuthing and overhear a conversation between two men who are out to get Santa. There are lots of mishaps throughout the story. But it also offers lessons learned when we misjudge people and jump to the wrong conclusions. It is the opportunity to see the best in people at Christmas and all year round. I highly recommend this heartwarming Christmas story!
I received an ARC of the novella Feliz Naughty Dog by Roxanne St. Claire, the second Christmas novella in the Dogmothers Series, for an honest review, as a member of her review team. I can honestly say that I absolutely loved Feliz Naughty Dog. I can truly say that once again Roxanne St. Claire has delivered an amazing Christmas story. The story is filled with love, friendships, big families, lots of dogs, and Christmas wishes coming true. It was an absolutely wonderful Christmas story. Roxanne St. Claire has once again shown that she is an amazing storyteller. I could not put it down. I loved every page. I really enjoy how the book is told from the perspective of the main characters. I love getting the insight and feelings from the different characters. Feliz Naughty Dog is about searching for someone to love mixed in with a little Christmas magic. It is filled with heartbreaking and heartwarming moments. I love the lighter moments where I find myself smiling and laughing out loud and the bittersweet moments that cause me to sigh. Feliz Naughty Dog is filled with such moments, and with so much emotion. It is filled with all those things that we have come to love and expect in a Roxanne St. Claire love story, especially the poignant and bittersweet moments that filled this novella. Feliz Naughty Dog, is the story of Agnes “Yiayia” Santorini and her search for her match on Silver Singles, Aldo Fiore, as a mall Santa on Christmas Eve. The Dogmothers also set Pru up with her crush, the new boy in school, Lucas Darling and his dog Tor to participate in the Bitter Bark High School’s Random Acts of Christmas Kindness (RACK). Gramma Finnie tells YiaYia, that her late husband Seamus told her years ago that Aldo was connected to the mob. I loved the interactions at the mall with the unknown men, who confirmed Gramma Finnie and YiaYia’s suspicions. Once revealed, it was the funniest part of the story. I love the moments that YiaYia and Gramma Finnie shared at the mall. I love that Gramma Finnie opened her heart to YiaYia about her concerns. Pru is sixteen, she doesn’t have a boyfriend, or had her first kiss. She is upset when her best friends decide to ditch her and go RACK IT UP with their boyfriends. Then the grannies talk about ditching her and heading to the mall in search of Santa. Lucas Darling and Tor show up at the sign in desk and the grannies set him up with Pru. I love all the events at the mall, but my favorite parts are when Pru and Lucas share the secrets about their families with one another and when Lucas decides to use Gramma Finnie’s post it notes words of wisdom to hand out to children with a mini candy canes in search of a missing pet store basset hound, Buttercup. I love that Feliz Naughty Dog reminds me of the true meaning of Christmas. I loved the story and it brought tears to my eyes on multiple occasions. I love the mutlple storyline, YiaYia searching for her Silver Single Santa and the Pru, Lucas, and Tor budding romance. I love the Pru and Lucas romance, and how Pru’s Christmas wishes come true. I love how Roxanne St. Claire incorporated the title of the book into the story, it was truly priceless. I love celebrating Christmas with the Kilcannons, Mahoneys, and now the Santorinis. Who doesn’t love big families, dogs and Christmas wishes coming true? Roxanne has once again delivered an outstanding story with her surprise plot twist, poignant and bittersweet moments and lots of love. Roxanne even gave us our own Christmas magic, a glimpse into the next target of the Dogmothers matchmaking. Loved all the surprises at the end. I could not put it down. It was a wonderful story filled with the magic of Christmas! I received an ARC for an honest review.
Feliz Naughty Dog by Roxanne St. Claire is the seventh book in The Dogmothers series and its second Christmas Novella. Although it is a shorter, stand alone story (bonus if you read the series) the emotions that pack are definitely supersized. This story takes place during a 24 hour period and it touches the lives of our favorite Bitter Bark’s families and the community in general.
It’s Christmas Eve and Pru (Kilcannon)Bancroft is ready to execute her school project Random of Christmas Kindness for Bitter Bark High which if they win will award them with a paid off Winter Ball, but in the early morning she learned that her friends are ditching her in favor of being in company of their boyfriends. Knowing Pru, you would have expected for her to rebound easily from this ripple on her well planned mission, but for the first time she uttered her frustration of being alone and single. As it happens she was with her great grandmother Finnie Kincannon and her roomie Agnes “Yiayia” Santorini, the town’s current matchmakers but something is also different in their dynamics this day too. And so the adventures begin!
Pru needed to complete her RACK project but without a partner it would be difficult. As the grandmas get ready to leave her to her own thing, they become aware of Pru predicament and the solution appeared in the form of Lucas Darling, the new boy in her HS who happens to be a loner with a rambunctious rescued Greyhound named Tor. The matchmakers promptly worked their magic and the two high schoolers are teamed up but they also tag along with the ladies to their destination and this is where the bulk of the story takes place.
Agnes and Gramma Finnie are on a recon mission because Yiayia enrolled in a senior dating app and her match will work that morning as the Santa Claus in the nearby mall. The entire day is a trial for all parties: they need to learn to trust each other, not judge and believe that there is still kindness and maybe Christmas miracles are granted.
As a reader I devoured this novella. Thank you Rocki, it was all about the journey and what a journey it was! The young woman in me suffered and was thrilled with Pru; the adult in me knew how important is to be there when a friend needs you and know that even if a relationship may evolve, that doesn’t mean the end of a friendship but a net gain of another friend. Tor, Gala and Pyggie, and a tiny naughty pup are the glue in this story and certainly they gave us the best laughs. I can’t wait to see what will happen with Pru and Lucas and what will be the Dogmothers’ next big project. I certainly was ready to go with the entire Kilcannon – Bancroft - Mahoney and Santorini clan to Midnight Mass because 2020 needs to be remembered and prepared to be send off with all the love a big, diverse family and community can muster. Feliz Naughty Dog read and Happy Holiday to you all!
I collect the Dogfather and Dogmothers series, also received ARC for this novella but these are my most sincere thoughts and personal opinion.
Feliz Naughty Dog is a Christmas story with a twist. Pru Kilcannon Bancroft is heading the county wide high school contest called Random Acts of Christmas Kindness (RACK). She is organizing teams from Bitter Bark High School to go out into the community and do random acts of kindness for which they will earn points. The school with the highest points will win the contest prize of an all expenses covered Winter Formal with DJ Fearsome McQ. Unfortunately for Pru, her friends decided to have their boyfriends on their team leaving her on her own. Suspecting Gramma Finnie and YiaYia, also known as the matchmaking dogmothers, are up to something, Pru pries it out of them that they are heading to the Vestal Valley Mall to check out a man YiaYia met on a dating site. He is currently playing Santa at the Mall. First they stop at the high school so Pru can sign up teams to go out and perform the random acts of kindness. She sees the new boy, Lucas Darling, walking with his greyhound. The dogmothers spot him too and notice Pru's interest. Never able to resist a matchmaking opportunity they recruit Lucas to be on Pru's team. Pru is not too thrilled about that at first even though the mysterious newcomer has peaked her interest since his arrival from California. He agrees to accompany Pru and the grannies to the Mall where they will do their acts of kindness while the grannies check out Aldo Fiore, AKA Mall Santa. Lucas seems to really like being with the grannies which seems strange to Pru. She is beginning to like him more and more and also his overactive dog, Tor. Listening to the conversation between YiaYia and Gramma Finnie, Pru is surprised at the negative attitude the always positive Gramma Finnie has toward Aldo. She announces he is a mobster and YiaYia should have nothing to do with him. They agree to check him out while he is playing Santa to see how he acts with the children. Pru and Lucas start to look for ways to get their acts of kindness in while YiaYia and Finnie start their surveillance on Aldo. That's when all hell breaks loose. The grannies overhear a conversation between two men they think are FBI agents looking for Aldo. Gramma Finnie is convinced there is a hitman in the Mall after Aldo and YiaYia is horrified that the man she was so attracted to is not what he seems. Meanwhile, Pru and Lucas are trying to control Tor the former racing dog from destroying everything in the Mall while they attempt their random acts of kindness. Throw in suspicious looking men, a missing puppy, an out-of-control greyhound and two teenagers crushing on each other and this is quite a Christmas Eve adventure. There is so much going on in this story and it's all fun and also very touching. Roxanne St. Claire knows how to make you laugh out loud while also tugging on your heartstrings. Feliz Naughty Dog will make you smile and put you in the Christmas spirit.
Well I love a good holiday comedy of errors and no one does it like Roxanne St. Claire and the Dogmothers (plus their granddaughter/honorary Dogmother) and this holiday season the craziness is at an all new high. One granny is hunting love, another is feeling lonely and jealous, and one teenager is feeling her very first teenage crush on a boy that is thrown into her path by her Grannies. It is amazing the maze of crazy antics and drama that Rocki can squish into a single short story, but it never amazes me that she is able to bring such sweetness and holiday cheer into her stories. I loved this story for several reasons and I will try to explain without providing too many spoilers. Firstly, you see one of the Dogmothers on a quest for love, but she soon realizes that everything she has been looking for was in front of her all along in her best friend and roommate (well almost everything, but we can do without that if we have the other stuff). Another of the Grannies, has to come to terms with the fact that even at her age, sometimes change can be good and that the best kinds of change are the kind that come with love. Next you have a teenager who is learning a lot, as she meets a young man that has caught her eye and is thrown into crazy situations that allow her to see right into his heart, reminding her how important it is to not judge a person on their looks, gossip, or their reputation only. All together these three ladies, some old and others young, are learning the most important lesson of the holidays, coming together with friends and family in love is the best and most important way to spend the holidays no matter how crazy it gets or how much work it takes to have a happy holiday. I loved every second of this story, and especially enjoyed getting to meet an all new dog with his own message to deliver and look forward to seeing him more as hopefully Pru and Lucas become closer friends in future novels. This series continues to grow sweeter and more loving, but the most important thread remains the love of these Dogmothers that has come through the generations and will continue to the next. Rocki gives us another holiday masterpiece with Santas, puppies, mobsters, and love all rolled into one sweet, magical, Christmas gift that I hope you all enjoy unwrapping as much as I did.
I really enjoyed this story about Pru and the Dogmothers, set on Christmas Eve. The local high school is in a competition with two other local schools to do Random Acts of Christmas Kindness (RACK). They are given points for their acts, and the highest ranking school earns a Winter Formal dance with DJ Fearsome McQ.
These acts of kindness are done in teams of 2 or 3 so that one person can do the act & the other can photograph it and upload it to the competition web site. However, Pru’s two friends ditch her so they can each team with their boyfriends. Pru is stuck with the Dogmothers.
The Dogmothers are going to the mall (on Christmas Eve, no less!) to spy on the guy Yiayia has matched with on a dating site. However, they spot the new student in Pru’s English class, the dark, mysterious Lucas Darling. He moved to North Carolina from California and the rumor mill has all kinds of terrible reasons he is in Bitter Bark. The Dogmothers decide (of course!) to do a bit of light matchmaking. They invite Lucan and his rescue greyhound, Tor, to join them and team up with Pru.
Although Pru is hesitant to trust Lucas, she watches him with his dog while they do RACK activities in the mall. Of course, Tor only knows how to run, or rather sprint until he is exhausted, then collapse and rest. He is attracted to shiny things because of the targets he was trained to chase for the races. This causes mayhem several times among the crowds in the mall, but Pru notices that Lucas is kind and loving to Tor rather than harsh and punishing for running off.
We learn a lot about Lucas and Tor, also about Yiayia’s prospective date, and then we all end up at Waterford Farms for Christmas Eve: dinner, gifts, church. And Pru’s dad is asked to help with training Tor and with teaching Lucas as well. After all, there are no bad dogs, only bad owners.
I think you will really enjoy this seasonal treat in the Dogmothers series.
You have to just love a story featuring the two Dogmothers with lots of their antics, disagreements, and Christmas cheer; along with great-granddaughter Pru, Lucas, and his rescued greyhound, Tor. That’s exactly what you get in the holiday novella, Feliz Naughty Dog by Roxanne St. Claire, book seven in her Dogmothers series.
Pru Kilcannon is excited to spread holiday cheer on Christmas Eve doing her part in the “Random Acts of Christmas Kindness” so she can ensure her high school wins the county-wide “RACK IT UP” contest. When her friends decide to team up with their boyfriends the ever-interfering Dogmothers sign-up the new kid at school to be Pru’s partner for the contest; having good-girl Pru spending the day with the broody, moody, and very cute bad boy Lucas Darling, and his chaos-causing greyhound, Tor. That’s not all. Pru and Lucas have to accompany the grannies on a secret mission to check out a man Yiayia met on an online dating service for seniors. Grandma Finnie is positive that this guy is in the mob while Yiayia thinks he’s going to be her dream man. Pru is just hoping that her great-grandmothers don’t get into trouble. The trouble actually comes from Tor, a former racing dog who seems to cause mayhem wherever he goes and in this case it’s mall madness. As Pru and Lucas attempt to control Tor, supervise the Santa Stalking, complete a few random acts of kindness, and find a missing puppy, they also spend time getting to know each other. As they share bits and pieces about themselves a bit of flirting and crushing occurs, leading to some holiday magic, especially under the mistletoe, this year.
Ms. St. Claire wrote an emotional and moving story filled with lots of feelings, wonderful dialogue, and strong characters that should not to be missed. I highly recommend Feliz Naughty Dog to other readers and look forward to the next book in this wonderful series.
I voluntarily reviewed a complimentary copy of this book.
Pru Kilcannon finds herself on another Christmas Eve adventure with The Dogmothers! Pru has organized a Random Acts of Christmas Kindness for her high school so they can win the RACK IT UP contest which will give Bitter Bark High School a free winter formal with a famous DJ. Pru was suppose to work with her best friends but they end up ditching her at the last minute for their boyfriends. Enter The Dogmothers. When they see the new cute, moody boy, Lucas Darling without a partner, they set their matchmaking skills into motion.
As Pru and Lucas spend more time together, the sparks start to fly. As the two teenagers try to do their Act of Kindness, Lucas' dog, Tor, starts to get into a lot of trouble. At the same time, The Dogmothers are trying to stalk the man who is playing Santa, Aldo Fiore. Gramma Finnie believes he's in the mob but Yiayia thinks the man she met online is really nice. Throughout their fun adventures, a little Christmas magic gets sprinkled in.
I just adored this story. Whenever Pru and The Dogmothers are paired together you know that you are in for an entertaining story. I just love Pru and I loved how she found a boy who reminded me a lot like her father.....looks bad on the outside, but is really a softie on the inside. I really loved Lucas too. Being new is always hard but luckily he has Pru to help him now!
I love this ladies. Gramma Ginnie reminds me of my Gramma White, but my Gramma Rose was never sarcastic or harsh or judgmental like Yiayia was at first. That is has truly come a long way. However, she has decided that she wants to meet a man, so she joins an online site for single seniors! Pru is trying to help her school win a paid-for Winter Ball by doing Random Acts of Christmas Kindness, but gets ditched by her friends who want to team up with their boyfriends. The Dogmothers to the rescue when the new boy in town shows up to get some community service hours with his rescued Greyhound dog. That is all I will say, as I don't want to give any more away. This is a cute, fun Christmas story with dogs and a little bit of a mystery.
The pace is fast and the tone is uncertain yet hopeful with a character oriented storyline. There is no steam at all. The characters are vivid and endearing, with one very naughty dog added to the mix. It makes for one fun romp of a story. You don't have to read all the previous books, but I bet you will want to If this is your first Dogmothers story. If you want to read them all read the Dogfather books in order first and then these Dogmothers books in order. Enjoy!
This is just what Christmas 2020 needed to ring in the season! A beautiful, heart warming novella that is all about love in so many special ways! Our young girl Pru is growing up and spends some time with the new boy in school and his dog Tor. They team up to commit random acts of Christmas kindness -- which all the kids in their HS are involved with. They face plenty of obstacles along the way -- some quite hilarious! Tor is a dog on a mission and trying to keep up with him is challenging, and brings our 2 young lovebirds closer together. Pru and Lucas are the perfect first love couple.
Not sure whether Pru and Lucas are in charge of the Grannies or vice versa! Yiayia, Pru's Greek grandmother brings her fellow Irish grandmother Gramma Finnie, her 2 doxies, Pru, Lucas and Tor to the mall on Christmas Eve to check out the man playing Santa, since she has connected with him on a matchmaking app. Aldo is not who he seems, or is he? Lots of laughs with trying to figure out whether Santa Aldo is a good guy or not. What the Grannies figure out is that they already have the most special love in their friendship for each other.
Roxanne has once again exceeded all expectations with her much-anticipated Christmas novella!! Absolutely LOVED it!!!
Christmas would not be the same without the Dogmothers and Pru off on a wild adventure! When Pru is being driven by the Dogmothers to be dropped off for a school event that she organized, she discovers two things - her friends who were supposed to be her partners backed out to be paired up with their boyfriends, and that the Dogmothers are off to the mall on a mystery mission. Pru insists on going with them after getting the event started - which is a competition between three high schools to earn points by performing random acts of Christmas kindness (RACK).
What trouble can the two Dogmothers cause?!! Doing what they do best - they play matchmaker for Pru with the new bad boy in town, who they pair off with Pru to earn RACK points, allowing the Dogmothers to go on their mystery mission of investigating the mall Santa who happens to have matched with Yiayia on a dating site. Finnie is convinced he’s part of the mafia.
I loved the madcapped adventures of the Dogmothers as well as with Pru, Lucas Darling, and Tor (greyhound rescue dog) that belongs to Lucas. It wouldn’t be Christmas Eve for this family without some adventures! Highly recommend if you want lighthearted reading that makes you chuckle and brings a smile to your face.
Feliz Naughty Dog is a wonderful Christmas story about love – all kinds of love…..young new love, enduring love through the years, family love, the love between man and animals, second love and love between friends, both old and new. Roxanne St. Claire definitely knows how to write about the many ways we love and all the messy, heartwarming emotion that goes with it. This story definitely tugged on my heartstrings, made me both laugh and feel a tear or two, but mostly just made me feel all warm and buttery. It’s a story of the bonds of friendship, how they’re tested, yet manage to survive and hope for what new love the future may hold. Finnie and Yiayia, the Dogmothers provide a perspective on the love we have through the ages and our need to feel some of those emotions again, while Pru and her new friend Lucas remind us of new love and family love. Tor, the “naughty” greyhound rescue pulled the whole story together. I couldn’t put this merry Christmas story down, but now that I’ve finished it, I want to go hug all my family and start decorating for the holidays! A definite must-read book!
The book will definitely put the reader in a holiday mood! There are lots of laughs, a mall Santa, a would be mobster, FBI agents, and an adorable greyhound that doesn’t know the word NO. This story has two matchmaking grandmothers who are always looking for their next “victims” to make fall in love. This time their granddaughter is their target. Pru Kilcannon Bancroft is just trying to do Random Acts of Kindness for her school’s Rack It Up contest on Christmas Eve. She doesn’t have a partner so she ends up with moody Lucas Darling, a new kid at school and his chaos-causing greyhound, Tor. While trying to perform these good deeds, they end up tearing through the mall chasing Tor who is causing Christmas Eve havoc! Tor not only causes trouble, he also is responsible for saving the day!
Once again we have a fun, laugh out loud plot full of Christmas fun added to our Dogfather/Dogmother series from the Kilcannon family. I thoroughly enjoyed this story of first love and a chance at a mature love wrapped up in Christmas cheer, little dogs, a big dog and fun chaos.
Loved this Christmas novella with the Dogmothers. Life is always an adventure when Grandma Fannie, Yiayia, and Pru are together. Pru is disappointed when her friends pair up with their boyfriends for the RACK (Random Acts of Christmas Kindness) competition that she has organized, leaving her out in the cold. When she finds out the Dogmothers are going on a recon mission on their own to the mall on Christmas eve, she insists on going along. They add the new kid in town and his excitable rescue racer Tor to the mix and much shenanigans ensues including a missing puppy, the FBI, and maybe an offer that can't be refused. Who will we find under the mistletoe? Roxanne St Claire delivers another delightful and heartwarming read this holiday season with a few lessons about love in different forms and phases, and the pitfalls of jumping to conclusions about others. Time spent in Bitter Bark is a pleasure as always. I received an ARC in exchange for my honest review. The opinions expressed are solely my own.
Roxanne St. Claire is an amazing writer and she spins Christmas magic in this novella featuring the young Pru as well as the Dogmothers. Pru becomes matched up with the new guy in school who looks like a real bad boy, but turns out to need her as much as she needs him. His dog needs her and her family even more. His lack of training and his love of shiny things work together to make a trip to the mall on Christmas Eve a disaster waiting to happen! The Dogmothers are not only trying to find love for Pru, but for one of them as well. Of course, things tend to get a little tangled with the grandmothers sometimes and boy is that trip to the mall a mixed up exciting one! This was a cute, quick read that will help fill the gap until the next Dogmothers book comes out. I was given a complimentary copy of this book. All thoughts are my own.
The annual Christmas novella by Roxanne St. Claire, Feliz Naughty Dog, finds the Dogmothers at it again. This time Yiayia has her sights on a new man. While at the same time Yiayia and Gramma Finnie just might play a hand in bringing Pru some much needed Christmas cheer with the new bad boy at Bitter Bark High.
Like always, the antics that Pru and the Dogmothers get into are hilarious and heartwarming. It wouldn’t be a Dogmothers book without some really cute and special dogs who cause just a bit of chaos at the local mall. You will find love, forgiveness, hilarious antics, forgiveness, and maybe even two new loves in this wonderful little story set on Christmas Eve in Bitter Bark, North Carolina.
So much fun and a wonderful escape during this crazy year we call 2020. Merry Christmas everyone!

This is such a cute story. I just love Pru and the Dogmothers. Pru is being left out. Her friends don't want to go with her to do the Random Acts of Christmas Kindness, they would rather be with their boyfriends. Her grandmothers are going to the mall to check out a man without her. When they agree to take her with them, they also take along a boy from her class. Lucas has a bad boy look and Gramma Finnie isn't so sure about him until she sees how he interacts with is dog. Tor is a handful and Lucas is very patient with him. He can't be all bad then can he? Chaos ensues in the mall and all of them have a life changing moment. A fun story and now I can't get that song out of my head.
Pru Kilcannon has one goal when she wakes on Christmas Eve – to perform the most “Random Acts of Christmas Kindness” so she can spread cheer and win a contest for her high school. But when her friends decide to team up with their boyfriends instead of her the ever-helpful Dogmothers enlist the new kid in school as Pru’s partner. Pru has to spend the entire day with crazy cute bad boy Lucas Darling, and his greyhound, Tor. The dogmothers are once again doing their matchmaking magic! This is a super cute feel good holiday romance. It is an awesome series for romance/dog lovers. Do yourself a favor and read this series...plus the dogfather series. You won't regret it!! I received an ARC in exchange for my honest review!!
"Feliz Naughty Dog" is book 7 in the Godmother series by Roxanne St. Claire. It is a feel-good holiday story and even though it is part of a great series it can also be a read alone. I was given this book via bookfunnel to read and leave an honest review, and I really liked it. Yiayia Agnes and Gramma Finnie are known matchmakers for their grandkids. This time it is Pru Kilcannon Bancrofts turn. When Pru is trying to win an award for a paid-off Winter Ball for Bitter Bark High it seems that her friends have ditched her. Luckily, the dogmother's find a new boy, Lucas Darling who is somewhat of a loner but has a rescue Greyhound, and they help team their great-granddaughter and them together.
Another good read in the Dogmother series by Ms. St. Claire. Pru Kilcannon Brancroft has something everyone in school is partaking in. A Random Act of Kindness for the holidays. Her friends have all teamed up with there boyfriends. Gramma Finnie and Yiayia somehow taken it upon themselves to get the new boy in school Lucas Darling and his over excited greyhound “Tor” short for Tornado to be teamed up with Pru. He sees something shiny and he’s off like a rocket. But of course the Dogmothers would help in any way they could. When Pru catches wind of the dogmothers leaving to go spy on a man Yiayia is interested in. She isn’t about to let them go off alone. She wants in. She knows all to well if left to there own devices it won’t be good. Soon there all headed for the mall.
What a fun times ahead for everyone. Buy the book and see what happens.
Roxanne St. Claire takes readers back to Bitter Bark, North Carolina for another sweet, heartwarming, hilarity-inducing, Christmas adventure with the tenets of love, kindness, forgiveness, and understanding at its heart. Whether you're a fan of the Dogfather and Dogmothers books or this is your first visit, Feliz Naughty Dog is a fresh, funny, feel-good story that will fill your heart with the joy of family, friendship, and the holiday season. So, grab a mug of hot chocolate and curl up with Pru, Lucas, Tor, and the grannies for another Christmas story that will have you laughing, sighing, possibly shedding a tear or two, and overflowing with holiday spirit. And, now that I've written this review, I think I'm going to go read it again!
This is a novella about Agnes Santorini and Gramma Finnie heading to the Mall in Vestal Valley to check out the man playing Santa that Agnes has been corresponding with in a dating website. You also have Prudence (Pru) who has organized a Random Act of Kindness for the High School to see if they can win a Professional D J for a winter formal. You meet the new kid at school, Lucas Darling, who is in one of Pru’s classes. Neither have a team for this Rack project so Agnes pairs them up and sparks fly. There’s a Great Dane and chaos as they all go to the Mall. This is a fun, fast read and a good next book in the series. I would definitely read more books by this author and this series.
Mall as Pru joins the grannies on Christmas Eve to spread a little kindness for Pru’s high school’s project and scope out the mall Santa, whom Agnes met online. Ever the matchmakers the grannies find a partner for Pru, the new boy in town, who just happens to own a out of control rescued greyhound named Tor. While Tor leads the kids into a series of misadventures, the real beauty in the book for this reader is the interchange between the grannies as they explore their really deep friendship ...total opposites that accept, encourage and inspire each other to be more. I voluntarily reviewed an advance copy of this book. Most highly recommend.
