Artemis University #6

Compounding Traumas

Rate this book
My name is Tamsin Vale and I’m the last known fairy, fighting to find out what happened to all fairies and our world.

But I’m running out of hope, and it has a lot to do with the four pieces of my soul I no longer have with me. Going through one breakup is terrible, but four in rapid succession is… More than one person can handle.

I spent all summer fighting for fair folk, and fighting the councils, and fighting for the supes who need it, instead of taking a break. And I’m tired, mostly because I have so much trouble sleeping, missing the men I loved and didn’t want to admit I cared for.

Still, I can’t quit, so I keep pushing on. That’s what it means to be an adult and have responsibilities. I’m not alone, and I have help pushing me to keep going, teaching me what I need, so we can win the fights we need to.

I can… I really don’t think I can do this.

Artemis University is an ongoing hot burning reverse harem, university-age paranormal academy series with darker elements, strong language, violence, and a heroine who follows her own moral compass of what is right… And who she ends up giving her heart to.

Intense but amazing

I was on edge the entire time I read this book, but definitely in a good way. I’d have loved a little more fluff, just to slow the book down, but sadly Tams doesn’t have any fluff in her life right now. Even the one scene that could’ve been - a cute night out - her horrid exes ruined that for her.

I was so excited for her to finally let Lucca in. I felt he had such a bad start, and I adore the fact that he’s now being given a chance. I love that she and Darby have made up - this was needed. He deserves to be let back in. I adore their joint scene... it was amazing.

I also greatly appreciated it that Craftsman has finally realised he messed up and that Tams didn’t immediately forgive him. Hopefully, now that he’s realised it, he’ll sort his issues out and earn his way back in her life.

Hudson... he’s my favourite, but I’m upset at him. He didn’t have a lot of screen time, but his speech near the end (despite Tams not appreciating it) helped me feel less hurt with him. He needs to get with the programme and fast. I miss River though and want more cute scenes with him.

Can we give some love to Mrs Von Thann?? I adore this woman. She’s amazing, and I’m so pleased she’s on the side. I loved the mom power when all the moms turned up at Tams’ enlightening event for the college students. It was wholesome and needed. The dragons have her back, and despite me still feeling a little salty with Mrs Vogel, I’m pleased she was there for Tams too.

Izzy and Mel were kinda background people in this book, IMO, so I want to see more of them.

The council. I hate every single one of them, and roll on the day Tams gives them the ultimate smackdown. I’m sick of them ruining people’s lives, and it’s starting to get super immature now. Get a grip guys, you’re meant to be leaders.

I adored seeing a more vulnerable side of Anya White, but I hate what it’s come to. Really hate it. She needs some strength sent her way, and I really hope something gives in her life.

Geiger. He’s amazing. Full on the best person. Super supportive. Super smart. Super powerful. Just can’t say more about this amazing dragon. He’s supportive and assists Tams - not trying to control her like some (Edelman...). His smart thinking with the new instructor should hopefully help. OPEN FAERIE AND FIX IT SO HE CAN BE HAPPY AGAIN. That's my only request. He needs some love, and I want his mate to come back for him.

Honestly, this was an amazing addition to the series, and Erin should be so proud of the amazingly intricate universe she’s created. I love it so much, and I can’t wait to find out what happens next. I love her writing style, her portrayal of the characters and just think she’s incredibly talented. Plus, she’s producing these books so quickly. Roll on book seven.

Still duck paddling in the same place on the pond

I truly like the world... and there is some good story telling. My issues are that each subsequent book is the same story with one or two new toss away elements to give the perception of forward progression. We are still rehashing the same crap. This series is really a wash, recycle, repeat. I would LOVE to actually move beyond the council crap to the world of Faery. It would be nice to have a major development there.

Tamsin is still a twit. I’m bored with her as the most cleverest and awesomest of all. Her need to always add the last word is irksome. Just a modicum of decorum and maturity would be a wonderful addition to her ever evolving skill set. And it would be lovely for her to treat her closet with more respect rather than pieces on a chess board. For all that she’s a telepath she has real issues with actually listening. And I’m rather tired of all the allies being crapped on with no reward or balm to their souls. They’ve waited ages for their mates... would be lovely to see that faith and dedication rewarded.

I would love to have the one off elements actually amount to something. A criminal underbelly that’s turned from the council... cool, perhaps there could be allies there. They turned away for a reason. Maybe find those with like minded goals. Random fae artifacts found is suspicious places... neat, let’s explore that. Demons too... ok, sure. I guess we have to have some explanation to the state of faery. Rounding all the far-flung fae creature and monetizing their additions to the world... that, too, is interesting. It would be rather nice to finally delve into and stick around the new ground. I feel the landscape of this story line as is has become fallow and would to see the plot sift to some more nutrient rich material.

I am ever hopeful we will get to see the faeries. It would be lovely to see them restored and it would be wonderful to experience this interesting world being healed and all the steps to finding balance. I would love for there to be really growth in both the world and Tamsin herself.

Rinse and repeat.
I liked the story (not that it advanced much in this installment), but the relationship drama could go.

Tasmin is the Queen ...

Tasmin has the weight of a couple of worlds on her shoulders. She’s also dealing with a broken heart x 4.. although she would eat nails than let anyone know... her plans for helping the hobgoblins are coming together but not without backlash ... some other force is aware of her work in opening up Faerie..
She’s back for her second year at school but so is nasty Bake and other unsavory characters..
The council is up to their antics as usual but Tasmin is getting more support from people she least expected.

“Blood is not thicker than anything. I would give up my family over this if I found out the truth of them dong this to any supe,,Any Supe, Tasmin.. but they did it to you, to your people. I didn’t have to even debate it. This is not them versus you. This is then versus what is right,”-Darby

She may not have all her men back but Darby and Lucca are in and I am so relieved.. it’s strange how things are panning out. But I love Darby ..

I can’t wait for the next book.. I love all the different characters in the book., I love that I can pick up this book after not reading it since March and know exactly where we are .. this story is so addicting .. I seriously can’t get enough . I’m even more stoked that it’s only going to be 6 weeks til the next one ..

I sure hope Craftman and Hudson get their act together ., I was shocked Hudson didn’t have much to say this round .. and are he and lucca still messing around ., I was disappointed I didn’t see any of that because it was so hot ..

WOW !!!

I loved, absolutely loved this installment of Artemis University and once again Tamsin exceeded my expectations in the kicking ar$e and taking names department. I adore her sense of justice and how hard she is fighting for it in a world filled with corruption. There are some hints as to her origins and I am dying to find out if I'm right, but don't worry, I won't spoil it for anyone. Her last fight in the book was bloody brilliant had me cheering out loud in the house leading my roommate to think I was watching a movie, at which point laughter ensued when she realized I was reading.

Ms Flynn, your mind is a wondrous gift you have chosen to share with the world. It is my hope you continue to do so for as long as it brings you pleasure, because it is a pleasure to read your work and please know that there are a lot of us who adore you.

This felt like filler

I didn’t really feel like much happened and for the most part Tamsin was alone. She still hadn’t forgiven the guys, mourning them like their relationship was over. I get her issues, I just wish she would explain them better for the reader. Or her reactions and plans. So much of this book is spent telling me things that happened off page. Tamsin thinking and plotting but not once sharing that info with the reader. I found this to be lacking for me as I don’t have enough clues to infer what Tamsin might be doing. And while I do like being blindsided with the MC, I do like some crumbs to lead me, or some clues to help me see what’s coming. Some of it I can, but a lot of the stuff off page are things I’d be more interested in than 20 pages of what Tamsin is eating. I know she has to eat a lot, due to her being a fairy, but must we list everything? Join her for every meal? That stuff could be glossed over, the plotting and planning should be shown. Not told from an off page past perspective. I’m just super annoyed but this one too with how she handled the men. I don’t blame her but she’s always rational and yet she didn’t talk to them. Not really.

One good thing was Lucca is in this book more and I like him. He’s nice. They all are really.

Overall it did feel like filler as not enough happened for me.

Oh there is more?

Do not know if I can stand five more years of this, it is getting painful! The plot is moving rather slowly. Pretty sure the Fae will pop up eventually but sheesh, will I last that long? And of course the love quartet while not unknown in this type of writing, will require a quantum leap of maturity by the last fairy. Maybe there is a secret rune for that?

After the debacle that Tamsin's end of year party became, she's looking forward to going to the villa in Spain. Originally it was going to be with Craftsman and Darby but she's still not on a path to forgive them. Hudson and Lucca are also still in the doghouse as well. Her heart is aching but she needs to separate from them to think things through. There's been so much between all of them and some things she's finding she can't forgive.

Professor White is going to chaperone in Spain, while working with Tamsin on how to release her energy and the energy of the crystals into Faerie without hurting herself and her magic. She will also be helping Tamsin with her high school courses and on the things she can test out of at Artemis.

Then there's the summer soiree she has planned for the donors to the new scholarship fund, this would be the last event before Spain. Unfortunately the people attending are idiots and greedy as well. Many came with crystals expecting them to be charged by her, not just a couple, but millions. So instead of attending she would be leaving after making an announcement.

Seeing Craftsman hurts more than anything and leads to the discovery of yet something else she didn't know when she runs off for a few minutes. She also spent sometime in Faerie with the fae dogs before heading back to Spain.

Tamsin also had a meeting with the heads of other schools besides Artemis. They needed to put some things in place to follow what human university do. That was an interesting meeting as well.

Returning to school has all the guys wanting to reconcile with her, but she's having none of it. However, Lucca is the first to break down her walls and get her to listen to him. Then Mel explains somethings about Darby and she listens to him as well, but she takes that a bit further by bringing him to Faerie to have the conversation. They all now have magic tattoos to prevent any of her secrets from being exposed should they be dragged off to a council. The biggest threats still are the Vampire and Warlock/Witch councils. They keep upping their game and cheating as usual.

New Instructors in this book add some twists and more things with Craftsman that were both intriguing and terrifying.

Again much happens in this book including the continuing rescue of Hobgoblins from undesirable working conditions.

Conniving, Plotting, Overcoming and Romance are key things in this book. It's also filled with laughter, tears and sizzling heat.

My Thoughts
Tamsin goes through some serious depression. She's on the outs with all of her men for whom she's come to care a great deal. I can't blame her for any of it, but I'm still rooting for Craftsman, Hudson, and Darby. Lucca gains a bigger role in Tamsin's life and I don't know how I feel about it. She makes new allies, but also has to deal with persistent enemies.

About the Characters
Despite her depression, Tamsin keeps her wits about her and continues to do what she needs to and stay involved in everything. Craftsman, Darby, and Hudson are all trying to navigate through Tamsin's traumas and heartache to stay a part of her life. Lucca is hot and all, but he's pretty aggressive and it worries me.

Things I Liked
I enjoy the drama in this series: Tamsin's struggle to keep her secrets, the romantic turmoil, and the occasional life or death situation. This book in particular has some big moments of all of that.

Thing I Didn't Like
There are a lot of editing mistakes in this book. Tamsin's frequent monologuing is really starting to get to me. I also really can't believe people haven't figured it out. I enjoy the story with people not knowing, but it is really hard to keep up my suspension of disbelief.

More Thoughts
We meet some new people and they give me mixed feelings. Larson seems to be on Tamsin's side, but can be kind of a jerk too. The random demons are creepy and omenous, but are then never seen or heard from again. They're barely even brought up again. Tamsin has a reunion with Blake that's loads of fun. Calloway ends up in some serious heat, complicating her relationship with Tamsin. Finally, I just really want more of Hudson.

Does it standalone?
Nope.

Bottom Line
This is a very dramatic installment in the series that raises the stakes and leaves the reader in tears and wanting more.

Will the real slim shady please stand up

Each book I fall in love Tasmin and her adventure a little more. Tasmin was facing a lot of heart ache after the last book and is grieving in this one. Tasmin often reacts out of her trauma, but is starting to accept that her first response isn’t always the fairest. She allows some people back, and that helps to mend her heart. Tasmin continues to fight against the male councils and corruptions, despite their efforts to catch her and use her. Tasmin showed a lot of growth in trusting others this book. I think she is getting stronger and stronger and soon they won’t be able to stop her.

Despite her grief, she pushed on to save those she cares about, study hard, and even dance and wrap. The council keeps breaking rules, but want to catch her in all the loopholes. I’m glad Luca was given a chance as I’ve always been a fan of him. The scenes were hot too.

Healing and growth play a big part. Love the emotions and connections in these books. Looking forward to the next one. Single narrator. No mm in this one. Med burn. Triggers of past trauma. Excellent writing.

One of my favourite ever series

I love the Artemis University series and I’m such a huge fan of Tamsin who does often remind me of Seraphine Thomas (another favourite of mine!). I was so incredibly excited to see that a new Tamsin story had come out that I dropped everything I was doing, the book I was reading, everything to grab her story and read! It was a pleasurable read as always though maybe not as exciting or dramatic as others. I really miss Hudson and River, I hope Tamsin forgives them soon! I really think Julian needs a couple more books of serious serious grovelling before any talks of reconciliation to be honest. Like many more books. He’s been very bad. I honestly cannot WAIT for Tamsin to reveal to all that she’s a fairy in a very dramatic and explosive way! And I wanna know more about her background! Her light and dark no. Is super intriguing! I’m also very intrigued about these demons popping up, I can’t wait to see where Erin takes that. Very glad to hear releases will be every six weeks 💃🏾 I need more Tamsin and Sera please 😭 Ty x

How can you not love this series?

A strong female lead that still has emotions, vulnerability and insecurities? That's a real strong female. One that deals with all those things and still manages to kick pass every day without losing herself. One that has come to realize she is worth something even when others have told her differently all her life. She has good people to remind her of that whenever she slips back. And she's learned that you can love someone but not like what they do. And that she deserves better than someone using her for anything. She deserves better than someone just saying the words "I love you". Love is so much more than that and hurt doesn't go away overnight. But it can ease with time and the support of good people around you. Plus there is always really good sex with hot males that worship the ground you walk on to take your mind off of the other alphaholes! Yeah. This book has everything you never new you wanted in a RH super female, fairy warrior princess kind of way! Tinkerbell ain't got anything on this fairy's life!

I have loved reading this series! So sad it’s not finished yet because I totally can’t wait for Tamsin’s full happily ever after. Most of the time when a series is longer than 4 or 5 books I lose interest because I feel like it’s too much of the same stuff dragging the series out. That feeling didn’t hit me at all until about book 10 and then it was short lived. I love Tamsin and the journey we get to take with her throughout this. Her growth and friendships, and her clarity in viewing the world around her make this story amazing.
I felt the intro to book 18 was really confusing. I had to go back and double check that I hadn’t skipped a book. There’s a bit of minor editing that would really make the reading so much better. Missing words and improper (or no) use of commas were the biggest culprits, but it was still worth reading.
As much as I loved it this book isn’t for everyone. There’s plenty of language, sex, and some violence that would be disturbing to some.

Loved. I don’t know how she does it because any other person would have broken down and would be crying in the corner. Tamsin is trying so hard to right the wrongs that has been committed by the council and help all fey folk. While also being heartbroken, she has to earn her high school diploma while still going to university and save the fairy world is scary. With so many problems, she Is now realizing that she has ppl in her corner that are ready to help her when she needs it.
In this book we find out their are scary secrets the fey kept from the supe world, that seem to be enemies to fear but in a later book. The men she loved now have to grovel and earn their way back to her heart if they really want to be with her. I can’t wait for the next book in the series.

Darby 🌵🍐has also been my favorite 💙💚

I LOVE ERIN R FLYNN!

Honestly I could yell all day about how much Ms Flynn kicks ass as an author, I could write essays outlining how her intelligent approach to addressing topics of sexism, bigotry and elitism paves the way for young readers to really critically think about today's society, while reading an enjoyable narrative filled with reverse harem paranormal yummy goodness.
I could keep going on with how well the story is written and edited, that the pacing is good and really ties into the over arching series.

But honestly? You're better off reading it yourselves and truly experiencing how amazing this author is.
low key I was so excited for another Tamsin book that I let out an embarrassing squeal when i saw it was out. And I am not a person who squeals.

Seriously, after you finish this, I highly recommend every other series she has written.

uuggghhhh!

I am not normally with the grammar police, and I’m loving the series immensely, but good grief! The grammar and punctuation are so bad, I’m almost ready to give in.
It is unreal how many times the wrong word is used in function and in meaning. Substituting “then” for “than”, “creeped” for “crept”, and past tense for present tense, so on is so frustrating! And punctuation!?!?? The lack of proper punctuation causing run on sentences, not to mention the times the lack of, changed the whole meaning of the statement.

While I know the author said that the missed grammar was intentional, I just can’t believe she means all of it was.
That being said; the characters are amazing, and the unpredictability of the story will keep you coming back for more every time. I mean, I’m even willing to put up with the stumbling rhythm just to see what’s next!

Read it too fast! I need the next book NOW!!

SPOILER WARNING.

There wasn't any big cliff hanger at the end which is what I love most. I also never wanted to put the book down. I love Tamsin's strength and the rekindling of the past lovers she has. It actually had good reasons on why she forgave them. I'm so ready for her to just let everyone know who she is and slap some reality into the supes' world. I think for the next upcoming books, the biggest "win" for Tamsin and her crew would be to find at least 1 fairy. Also I want to know what's going on with the demons? They just showed up at the beginning, talked about in the middle of the book, and that's it about them. All in all love the series, will always continue to support this author and her works.

Just WOW

I have a total girl crush on Tamsin! She is an amazing character, so full of spirit, sass and heart. Am delighted for Darby and Lucca, go boys! But I am so needing more from Craftsman, River and Hudson.....Please 😁😁
This was a brilliant story, continuing on in progress from the previous books. Tamsin is taking on so many fights and responsibilities it's crazy but she has an awesome support group around her, and I hope she knows that. The bad guys keep coming every time she tackles one another pops up, when will they learn. There were so many wonderful scenes in here with a lot of emotion. My favourite though was with the females supporting and aiding her with the new students - Go Girl Power!
Cannot wait for another book into Tamsins world. Well worth a read.

Ahhh I need the next one.

I am absolutely in love with the series. In the past two years I've read over 400 books and I can say honestly only a handful of series maybe two or three have caught my interest as much as this one has. If you get involved with this series you only have no regrets. when I finish the first couple of books I went crap now I'm in a long-term relationship. These books bring a whole new world and a sense of justice and fighting for what's right and true to light. The author is a mastermind of words and situations and characters. I honestly promise you won't regret being sucked into this world. The only regrets you'll have is not having enough time to read it over and over again.

Good good win!

Erin R. Flynn just took all the shock and awe of book five and rolled into Compounding Traumas ready handle business and take names.

The hits on and at Tamsin haven’t stopped but our heroine is still rolling. While trying to recover and heal from the devastation of her guys, Tams is also still fighting the good fight.

Compounding Traumas continues to highlight the injustice of supe society while showcasing that no one is immune and all should be prepared to fight. Tams gets a great win in and the adults are taking care of business, but can Tams heal her heart and move forward.

Like Lavar Burton says, don’t take my word for it. Read the book and find out for yourself.

Brilliant

Well what a flipping brilliant read. Entertaining entrancing and explosive. Need more more more. Tamsin needs to forgive more and I hope they all get their happy endings. The councils need taking out no doubt about it.
The graphic scenes are written perfectly setting a great image. Descriptive beautifully written and what an incredible ending. So can’t wait not only for the next instalment of this but the other series too.
Highly recommended take a look and fall in live with the characters and the world. Route for the good guys to take out the baddies.
Thanks Erin for a brilliant book.

This just felt a bit filler for me. Sad we didn’t see a Hudson make up but know it will be in the future. Seemed a bit of the repeating of the books because she seems always on the defensive, would be happy for something to go wrong where they have to put in plans in motion, or go more on the offensive. I felt the plot was just reiterating that the councils were corrupt, did like learning she’s probably both light and dark and I know that her getting help from faerie is important as Irma was shocked and almost revealed key information. I’m unsure what exactly but this one felt a bit lacking of something

Surprised still reading a university themed series.

Glad that this series is something away from the university template you in all the other Paranormal or mythological university series’ Tasmin’s character takes over much earlier and has foot to the floor through books 1-6 thus far. There are many things she is a champion for that makes this series stand out, champion for the bullied, abused, traumatized, indentured. Making much more than just a fantasy series. It’s that in which 8s the underlying theme that places this series different from those templates. Can’t wait for more.

The councils are not giving up on Tamsyn and think of new ways to get the upper hand. Too bad their ways don't work on Tamsyn and her friends. She's bringing change and that they like it or not, she'll succeed.

She clarified and made peace with half of the members of her harem, but what I notice in the series is that although the author tries to create a continuous narrative throughout the books, like bringing Faerie back and stopping the corruption, each book has events that are talked only in that book and no conclusion is found, like the person who directed the plagues to Artemis Academy or about the box that Tamsyn found in the school's vault after winning the tournament.
