34 books43 followersI am originally from a small town in northeast Indiana. Typical introvert kid; closer to books than people — grew up with a fascination for horror novels (Stephen King, Dean Koontz) and medieval fantasy (Piers Anthony, R.A Salvatore).
In April of 1996, I moved out on my own to Phoenix, Arizona to find my own path.
On a personal level, I have been married to my wonderful wife, Erika since October 10th, 2012. I have two stepchildren, Jenna and Johnny, and a two-year-old baby girl, Jessiena.
I have completed my first novel, Consequences Within Chaos and will be extending the story in my upcoming sequel, The Bleeding Crown. Also on Amazon & Kindle, I have In Four Days: Horror Suspense Novella.

This is the second installment in the ‘Evade’ series, and Derek continues to keep us on the edge of our seats as we navigate through the back alleys and dark streets of suburban Philadelphia. This series along with the ‘Elude’ series, for me at least, have a bit of a noir feel to them and are filled with dark tones and a foggy atmosphere. As in his previous books Derek does a fine job of blending the real world with the supernatural world in a most believable way. Fast paced, action packed and great characters will have you coming back for more of this series. Derek does a stellar job in whetting your appetite for more and having you waiting in anticipation for more. This installment contains chapters 11 thru 20. Very nicely put together supernatural thriller short read. The end is yet to be written. . . so come back for the next installment.

Ashley Ulery continues to nail the narration. Lindsey’s grit feels real. The fear never turns melodramatic. The urgency stays sharp. When things heat up, you feel it. When revelations drop, you lean in instead of zoning out.
And the twists? They escalate. This installment deepens the mythology instead of just recycling Part One’s chaos. Stakes are higher. The emotional weight is heavier. The supernatural threads tighten.
It is short, yes. But it punches like it’s twice the length.
What Could’ve Been Better:
If you require tidy bows and neatly wrapped endings, this series will test your patience.
Because yes. It says “to be continued.”
Again.
Personally, I enjoy a slow-burn unraveling across installments. If the hook is meant to drag you forward into the next part, mission accomplished. But if you are an instant-gratification reader, you may find yourself yelling at your headphones.
