Notes on Training

Rate this book
For students of Ohshima-Sensei, this book contains all of the information in the Training Notes published in the Shotokan Karate of America newsletter from 1965 to 1995, updated and corrected to represent the author's current thinking on training. As such, it is a valuable supplement to Karate-Do Kyohan when practicing kata, basics, and sparring. For students and instructors of other styles of karate or other martial arts, this book is an introduction to the training ideas of a man who has devoted fifty years to developing his understanding of karate. It is organized as a reference, with each of the Shotokan katas, each technique, and each type of sparring in a separate chapter. In addition, there are large sections on other topics related to practice and the author's thoughts on the past, present, and future of karate-do.

It is good read but I had high expectations and I felt that again the spiritual "Kime" aspect of Karate was poorly explained
