This book is inspiring. Ok, it's inspiring and challenging. I walked away knowing my procrastination style and some things I need to work on, but I also felt I had a plan and I could do it. If you're procrastinating or struggling to set goals and get organized, you'll want to read this.
I’ve been a fan of Nadalie Bardo for years, ever since I discovered her itsallyouboo.com website and blog, so I was thrilled when I found out she had written a book. Nadalie’s work has the perfect blend of friendly and professional, and Conquer Procrastination is no exception. The tone is smart and direct, but warm and uplifting. You come away from her writing feeling she believes in you personally and knows beyond a shadow of a doubt that you got this. That said, this is not just an encouraging book - rather, it’s filled with facts about the science of procrastination and proven methods to apply those facts to make a difference in your life. The book is very well researched (the References page has something like 75 sources - I counted), while still highly readable.
I personally found Conquer Procrastination inspiring, and promptly started working on a project I’d been avoiding. I especially liked her sample “Take-Action Ritual” which made that daunting first step not only doable but actually enjoyable. I also appreciated her advice to notice that good feeling you get when you accomplish small tasks on the way to a larger goal and embrace that as a form of instant gratification.
Perfect for readers of personal development books, or that friend that’s always doing projects at the last minute (it’s okay if that friend is you ;).
There is something truly unique about Nadalie Bardo’s Conquer Procrastination; it is the absolute perfect mix of actionable “tips, tricks, and techniques,” real scientific data and psychological studies, and a humorous and easy style.
It's clear that Nadalie not only knows what she is talking about but has mastered her way of breaking down the material into something that is digestible and most importantly, implementable.
Her humility, in sharing her own stories, where she both struggled and succeeded, and her parting words to “Always forgive yourself for procrastinating,” allow you as the reader to understand that there is no place for guilt as you work to conquer procrastination.
As I work to implement these skills in my everyday life, I will definitely revisit the teaching in this book (though I’m sure it won’t have to be too often).
Nadalie Bardo hit every procrastination problem head on in her book, Conquer Procrastination. She not only covers the psychology behind procrastination, but she identifies different types of procrastinators and strategies for overcoming even the most stubborn of procrastination tendencies.
I've read books on procrastination before but Nadalie's book has brought it all together in one short but VERY impactful and powerful how-to guide on how to meet procrastination head-on every day... Since it's not something we can conquer once and move on from.
If you're looking for a fast read filled with actionable steps to help you break your bad habit of procrastinating, this is it. So... don't procrastinate getting this book!
This book is a good reminder on how to break a task down.
While this book isn’t earth shattering it did have some good reminders on how to get things done. It reminded me to make lists and vision boards to remind my self it tasks at hand
