Embracing Eden: Zetta's Granddaughter Returns Home

Rate this book
Dru Mills Returns Home with New Dreams for a New LifeOne early morning in 1985, Dru drives off to leave everything behind in Michigan—her parents, her younger siblings and her cheating boyfriend, with all his empty promises. She’s convinced returning to Kentucky and taking the computer job at the local hospital will provide everything she needs for a fresh start.Within five minutes of crossing the Kentucky Eden County line, she’s welcomed—with a speeding ticket! This is not how she imagined her homecoming. After the annoying but admittedly handsome police officer hands over the ticket, Dru grumpily pulls back onto the asphalt. Chastised, she drives slower, remembering long-ago childhood scenes. Those memories are interrupted by the sight of an Amish buggy carrying a stoic bearded man.Soon after settling in, Dru’s life collides with both the policeman’s and the Amish farmer’s when a murderer invades Dru’s community. The three unlikely companions become intertwined in ways none of them wants, catapulting their inner guilt and disappointments to the surface and exposing emotional ghosts they’d all prefer to keep hidden. All three must find the strength to navigate their emotional hurdles. And with that strength, the hope to carry on.

I have read all of Sandra's books in the Zetta series. I enjoyed this book set in the 1980's. It has some exciting, dramatic scenes, sadness due to loss, and developing love. I enjoy Sandra's writing style and her use of descriptive language. I hope she writes more in this series!

Embracing Eden: Zetta's Granddaughter Returns Home (The Zetta Series Book 4) Book Review by Mina R. Raulston 12/3/20
In her first two books in this series, Zetta’s Dream and Zetta’s Mark, Sandra Aldrich told a heartwarming story of a widow surviving in Appalachia in the 1920s. Embracing Eden brings Zetta’s granddaughter Dru Mills back to her childhood home of Eden, Kentucky in 1985. Dru is ready for a fresh start, but the little town proves to be more exciting than she anticipated. Dru finds herself dealing with memories, emotions, and finding her place again in the hometown she was moved away from as a child. Sandra Aldrich knows how to weave a tale of home and family, along with danger and suspense. I heartily encourage you to travel to Eden with Drew and enjoy a wonderful story.

I enjoyed this very much. Several potential love interests kept me guessing how it would turn out. The characters were real and intriguing. And the conclusion was satisfying and believable.
