THE MAY FLOWERS series is a continuation of THE SILVER FOXES OF WESTMINSTER series, involving the younger generation.
USA Today Bestselling author Merry Farmer lives in suburban Philadelphia with her two cats, Justine and Peter. She has been writing since she was ten years old and realized she didn't have to wait for the teacher to assign a creative writing project to write something. It was the best day of her life. Her books have reached the top of Amazon's charts, and have been named finalists for several prestigious awards, including the RONE Award for indie romance.
Lady Beatrice Lichfield fell in love with Lord Harrison Manfred, the Marquess of Landsbury, almost the moment she met him. But that was years ago, and he surely would’ve proposed by now if he felt the same. She and her friends are busy preparing for a Christmas party to benefit orphanages and Bea if trying to think of ways to encourage Harrison.
Harrison can’t wait to propose to Beatrice. He’s desperately in love with her and eager to surprise her with a magical Christmas Eve proposal, but then he loses his great-grandmother’s ring which he’d intended to propose with. Harrison and his best friend set out all over London in a madcap search for the ring, but with Bea’s waning patience, Harrison may not find it in time to save himself from her disappointment.
This was a sweet romp. Bea and Harrison were cute together and I certainly felt her frustration. I enjoyed Harrison’s devotion to making things romantic and memorable though. The comedy here was a bit too cheap and slapstick for me, however, and Diana’s unfounded hatefulness toward John fell flat for me as a future romance set up and just wound up being an annoying and rather over the top distraction. Nonetheless, this was a sweet story to ignite some festive spirit.
I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
'Twas the Night Before Scandal was a cute read featuring a romance between long-time friends set at Christmastime.
Lady Beatrice Lichfield has been in love with Lord Harrison Manfred, Marquess of Landsbury, for years and she thought he felt the same way. But if he does, then why hasn't he proposed yet? With the encouragement of her friends, Bea decides to take matters into her own hands and move their relationship to the next level. Harrison has been in love with Bea since the moment he first saw her and now he has the perfect proposal planned for Christmas Eve. But when he loses the ring he means to propose with, Harrison is in a race to find it before time runs out.
'Twas the Night Before Scandal is the eighth book in The May Flowers series and the first one I've read in the series. The book works well as a standalone despite being so far into the series which I appreciated. There are obviously references to characters and events that were in the previous books but the author manages to introduce that information in a way that still makes the book work well on its' own.
I've been interested in picking up one of Merry Farmer's books for a while and the premise of this one sounded cute soo I was excited to read it. The connection between Bea and Harrison is well done and it was clear the two were completely besotted with one another. Bea's hope for a proposal is at the forefront of her sections and I did find myself becoming a bit annoyed with her at times as it felt like it was the only thing she ever thought or talked about. Harrison was definitely my favorite person in the couple and his desire to create the perfect proposal was adorable. The whole lost ring plot was a fun one and I enjoyed watching that play out. The book was less steamy than I was expecting based on the premise with there being only one scene at the end of the book but I still enjoyed that aspect of the book.
Overall 'Twas the Night Before Scandal was an enjoyable historical romance and I will definitely be checking out more books in the series in the future.

This was not my favorite story in the beginning. I'm a humbug, I guess! The book is short, thank goodness.
Lady Beatrice Lichfield has been madly in love with Lord Harrison Manfred, Marquis of Landsbury, for years, and she thought he returned her affection. So why hasn’t he proposed yet? Harrison is head over heels in love with Bea and has every intention of surprising her with the most perfect Christmas Eve proposal ever. Until he loses the family heirloom ring he means to propose with. What a fun entertaining & often hilarious read absolutely perfect for a seasonal novella. I read it in a sitting as it was just too good to put down. Strong very likeable characters added to the enjoyment, I also loved John & Diana & hope they have their story. I loved it My honest review is for a special copy I voluntarily read
Very enjoyable story of two people trying to get together, but mishaps keep getting in the way. Lady Beatrice Lichfield has loved Lord Harrison Manfred, Marquess of Landsbury, for years, and he has loved her. He wants to propose in the perfect way, but that's the problem - the perfect time, the perfect ring, the perfect way to say it - is not so easy. Novella length but full story and characters like full length novel. Highly recommend.
Harrison has been dancing around asking Bea aka Beatrice to be his wife for 2 whole years!! He finally gets up the nerve and misplaced the ring!!! Mayhem and tomfoolery follow! Would he just propose already instead of trying to be perfect!? Of course not! These two are hilarious and Harrison is easily lead by his friend John (can't wait for his story)! Humour, persistence and love win the day!!
Another lovely May Flowers romance, set in the few days before Christmas. The May Flowers plus their gentlemen friends and husbands are preparing the Christmas celebration for the orphanage children. Lord Manfred is determined to propose to his beloved, and has the ring ready. Until he puts it down in a moment of stress, and it disappears....
The story is short but flows well. The characters are very enjoyable to get to know and the author has a good job of leaving you wanting to know more about them.
Love at first sight. Oh yes, that is what Bea felt when she first set eyes on Lord Harrison Manfred.. They had all become friends, part of the May Flowers who were holding their Christmas charity event to raise funds for some of the London Orphanages.
She wanted more than anything for him to ask her to marry him. What did she have to do? What she did not know was that he was having the same thoughts and wanted the moment to be perfect.
Well the best laid plans when he had the ring his grandmother had given him.. and he could not find it!
A delightful holiday romance with humor and witty banter that will make you smile and only want more!!
Not the best in The May Flowers series (for me) as I found the tension between Beatrice and Harrison to be rather weak. But on the other hand if you like sweeter Christmas romance books this is a really fun read. I love Merry Farmers writing but I think I like her books that have more angst and more tension between the two main characters. Speaking of which the next book in this series with Diane and John should be a firecracker of a relationship and you will probably understand that comment better if you read this book.

Lord Harrison Manfred, Marquess of Landsbury is in love with Lady Beatrice Lichfield. It is nearly Christmas time and Bea and her friends are having a party for the orphans around the area. She is associated with the May Flowers and made the acquaintance of the likes of Lady Diana Pickwick. Who has became best of friends. The ladies are helping decorate and wrapping gifts. Diana isn’t to happy with Lord John Darrow, Viscount Whitlock. But he is best friends with Harrison.
John is ribbing Harrison about marriage. Harrison tells John he is waiting for the right time, he proceeds to show John the ring from his grandmother when he noticed Bea nearly fall he rushed to her side and helped her, when he returns to the table where he placed the ring box is gone. He must find the ring. Bea is so in love with Harrison, she wishes he would ask her to marry him once and for all.
Lovely story, if you want to by pass the adult content don’t read the last chapter. I enjoyed reading this book.
My disclaimer... I was given a copy of this book for my honest review. Any book or novels I leave reviews on are not dependent on the book/novel review author’s opinion. No one influenced my voluntary review for any of the books or novels I read, they are my own opinions.
What a delightful story this is! I always enjoy picking up a story by Ms. Farmer because I know I will be thoroughly entertained, and this book was no different. Bea and Harrison have known each other for some time. Both are desperately in love with each other, but neither of them have any clue of how they each feel for each other except for of course being good friends. Bea is planning a Christmas house party and trying to think of ways to encourage Harrison. Little does she know Harrison does not need encouragement. In fact, he plans on proposing to her. That is, until he loses his great grandmother's ring. The story becomes quite entertaining from there. Plenty of humorous moments and witty banter kept me smiling all the way through. Although I could feel Bea's frustration, I have to admire Harrison's determination to make the proposal romantic no matter what. A beautifully written story perfect to curl up with during the holidays- I would definitely recommend!

This is a fun short Christmas story featuring a couple who have felt strongly for each other for years, yet the young man hasn't yet come up to scratch. Her friends encourage the heroine to—shall we say—encourage him along with a seduction ploy. He has a secret Christmas Eve proposal planned. The thing is, he wants to make it perfect, and actually, he's very sweet in his desire to make everything just right for that special moment. But, of course, things cannot go smoothly—where would the literary fun be in that! In fact, I would call this a comedy of errors after a certain point, although the comedy itself is a bit broader than I like to see in romances, even bordering on slapstick at times. I think the book would have been a bit more enjoyable if that aspect had been reigned in a little. Still, all in all, this was a fun, quick holiday read.
I received a free copy of this book, but that did not affect my review.
Harrison and Bea have been courting for two years. They are both in love with each other but Bea is waiting for Harrison to propose. She thinks the Christmas season is the perfect time but she is getting tired of being patient. Maybe the answer is to seduce Harrison into proposing and they can begin their lives together.
Harrison is set to propose, he has his great-grandmother's ring and is working up a plan to propose at the orphan's Christmas party. But he misplaces the ring. He can't propose to Bea without the ring and not to mention how upset his family will be that he lost a family heirloom.
This is a very sweet story of two people who love each other finally getting it right. Bea and Harrison are perfect for each other. They are a cute couple. This romance is a bit of a slow burn - they hadn't even kissed yet. But there is some explosive passion in store for readers. Merry Farmer's books are really great and I can't wait to read Diana and John's story next.
Bea has been waiting impatiently for a marriage proposal from Harrison. Harrison is ready to propose, gets an heirloom ring from his grandmother to seal the deal, then promptly loses the ring. The story follows Harrison and his friend, John from orphanage to orphanage looking for his missing ring which he thinks was mistakenly donated with the Christmas gifts. Pranks at the orphanages are happening when they visit. This story was not one of the top stories in the series but it was a very nice, fast read for the Christmas season. The two secondary characters, Bea’s friend Diana, and Harrison’s friend, John, in a friendly/enemy relationship were great supporting characters who get their own story in the next installment of the May Flowers.
Lady Beatrice Lichfield has been in love with Lord Harrison Manfred for years, but she is getting frustrated by his failure to propose marriage to her. Meanwhile, Lord Manfred has planned the perfect proposal - time, place, ring. Wait...where is the ring? What comes next is a wild, fun ride as Harrison sets out in search of the lost ring. Will he find the ring? Will Bea be waiting? Will they get married and have their HEA? This story is a rollicking good time, although it can feel a little over-the-top at times. It's fun, flirty, and steamy. A light-hearted romance that is perfect for the holidays.

Lady Beatrice Lichfield & Lord Harrison Manfred, Marquis of Landsbury, have been in love with each other for some time but she can't make a move forward & he is waiting for the perfect moment to propose; plus, neither of them has admitted their feelings to the other one. Harrison plans on a surprise proposal this Christmas Eve with the family heirloom ring his Grandmother gave him to give to Bes - but then the ring goes missing at the orphanage they are volunteering for the children's Christmas.
The fun & hilarity begin here with wonderful characters, a mischievous orphan & a romantic HEA. This was a perfect holiday novella that can be read quickly but still has a fun story with well-developed characters.
If you are a fan of nice, quick reads then this is the book for you. It is the story of Lady Beatrice Lichfield and Lord Harrison Manfred, Marquess of Lansbury. The two have known each other for years and loved each other for almost that long, but stll they are not engaged. Beatrice "Bea" decides to take measures to speed up the proposal but her plan falls through. Harrison plans an elaborate proposal with his grandmother's ring, but he somehow loses the ring. Things aren't looking good for this proposal. This is a good book that can be read in one sitting.

Bea is waiting for Harrison to propose just before Christmas, he is all set up when he loses something important...... Part of the May Flowers series, so with carry over characters to give some continuity. Light hearted, but with some undertones such as the poor children in the orphanages. Also as per other books in the series there are some spicy bits, so not for readers who don't like such books. Overall yet again an ideal book to sit down and enjoy reading on a cold, dark evening to raise your spirits. I received an advance copy of this book from the author, however this did not influence my review of the book.
Lord Harrison Manfred, Marquess of Landsbury, has been in love with Lady Beatrice Lichfield for years, and is now anxious to propose to her. He is desperate for the proposal to be perfect in every way … the perfect setting, the perfect ring, the perfect words … and he discovers that staging perfection is not as easy as he thought it would be. This sweet novella length story fits a good amount of entertainment in its pages, and a nice HEA. It is part of a series by can definitely be enjoyed as a stand-alone.
A super book by Ms. Farmer. Again we have a super book by Ms. Farmer to read and you will love this one. This is such a fun read! It is all in the planning you know but when those plans go haywire the fun really starts. Parts of the story were hilarious and just the right amount to lose yourself in the story. I loved the characters and story it was cute. It is a quick read great for afternoon or evening read. This one will put joy in your heart and a smile on your face. I did receive a free copy of this book and voluntarily chose to review it.
This is such a sweet story! Beatrice and Harrison are totally besotted with each other. She wonders why he hasn’t proposed yet, and his plans for the perfect proposal have been accidentally thwarted. This book has some laugh out loud moments, as well as some tender ones. Of course the ancillary characters are fabulous and just make this story so much more fun. Not only is this a feel good book, but it tees up the next one in the series. I absolutely loved it!

Love & Mischief are in the air.... This is hilarious, very sweet couple equally eager to get married to one another. Impatience and anxiousness cause a few mishaps and unseemly pranks add suspense. Love the twist on the ring hunt. Not sure if Diana & John will eventfully become a couple but their antics are very entertaining, he will have his hands full, she's headstrong. I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.
A great cute read for the Christmas season. There are hijinks, mad-dash searches and of course love. This story is low in angst but high in hilarity. Can Harrison find his grandmother’s missing ring? What the heck are Bea and Diana doing following Harrison and John…can only be up to no good. Such a sweet story all around. Now only if John and Diana will stop their flirt-bickering. Next chapter in the fabulous May Flowers.
This is a sweet, clean romance that I enjoyed. It is well written and entertaining. Harrison is in love with Bea but she is beginning to doubt if he will ever propose. As he gets ready to propose, the ring disappears and attempts to find it is unproductive. There is a HEA but a lot happens first. This is a good read and one I would recommend. I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and are voluntarily leaving a review.
The eighth book in the The May Flowers series a well written story with a very good storyline the story flowed smoothly across the pages. Lady Beatrice Lichfield and Lord Harrison Manfred, Marquess of Landsbury's story of high jinks, a desperate search for something, and romance. I enjoyed reading this story and want to read the next one. I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
This is quick fast Christmas read about a Lady Beatrice and her fellow Lord Harrison and why he hasn't gotten around to asking for her hand, or kissing her. There is some good characters who are friends of hers. Lord Harrison's best friend and Lady Beatrice's friend make the book. They are so much fun to read about. This is listed as a steamy story it is not till the very end and then about a 4 or so. This would be a great bedtime read.
I found this a really good book. Bea and Harrison are great characters. This is a great short story with a Christmas theme. It begins with Harrison losing his family heirloom and spends most of the story scouring London orphanages trying to retrieve it with hilarious consquences. The outstanding character has got to be Burt the young orphan who plays all the pranks.
Hi all, what can I say, intrigues, scandal, a new way of life in sight for Victorian Women and eventually for us all and a love/hate relationship. What more can we ask for.... True Love!!! These are all rolled up in one splendid story. Insight into the lives of orphans then and now is also part of this lovely story, thanks to a wonderfully talented writer, thanks Merry!!!
