Great Intro to Blogging for Beginners & Intermediate Users This is a great book --very helpful, short, and easy read about blogging. It will satisfy beginners and intermediate bloggers. The chapters and sections are not very long and to the point. It covers all the most important parts of blogging: 1) Basics. 2) How to write. 3) How to promote your blog. 4) How to monetize it. 5) How to grow. 6) Legal matters. There are 11 interviews with successful bloggers. Most started between 2013-2016. These are very helpful for the suggestions and lessons that they share. The book was much better than its front cover.
The book was helpful and practical, but it didn't offer many suggestions to specific tools or links. It does offer many specific examples and stories. The legal story was a bit scary for a new blogger like myself.
Total 3.8/5 Readability - 4.5 Scope - 4 Depth - 3 Format - 3.5 Clarity -4
Read this book if: *You want a book that introduces you to the world of blogging from how to get started to how to make money. *You want more general information about blogging rather than which tools to use.
I wanted to write this book, and maybe if I read this before I created a blog I would have liked it more. However I feel like it should’ve been called blogging for beginners because it wasn’t just focused on making money from a blog but instead describes the whole process of blog. Which isn’t necessarily a bad thing just not what I was looking for or expecting for the book.
The author Bodnar is a professional blogger and freelance writer. She maintains several blogs and operates in several roles – like a ghostwriter for blogs and for books, an author of books, and a maintainer of for-profit blogs. She distills wisdom from her experiences as she teaches how to blog.
She covers everything from the basics of blogging to writing effective copy, from earning money from your blog to garnering a readership. She also includes 12 helpful profiles of successful bloggers. Through this work, the reader should have a good idea about what it takes to launch a successful blog.
At times, Bodnar’s writing can meander from the topic. I appreciate sharper and more concise text than her style. Nonetheless, the comprehensive nature of this work is impressive. She seems to explore every nook and cranny evenly and honestly. She also addresses individual technologies that expedite the process of blogging.
