Historical fiction at its finest. Ms. Merewether's story-telling keeps one turning pages fast. Another brilliant telling of the story of a character portrayed in The Lost Pharaoh Chronicles series.
“Exiled”, a superb story of an ancient Egyptian Priest who is manipulative, violent, characterless and a vile personality.
This book is a kind of complimentary to the “A Lost Pharaoh Chronicles” series of four books authored by Lauren Lee Merewether. Here, Lauren introduced and developed one of the main characters which she uses in the other series of books.
The story backdrop is the city of Waset during the reign of powerful New Kingdom 18th Dynasty Egyptian Pharaoh Amenhotep-III (1390-1352 BC) and the early ruling years of his subsequent successor Akhenaten (1353-1349 BC). Pawah is the perpetual villain of her “The Lost Pharaoh Chronicles” series of book, she tells the early life of Pawah in his book “The Fifth Prophet” and his political life in this book “Exiled”.
Laureen developed the character of Pawah as a violent, abusive, manipulative and characterless person, who can do anything for his own gain. After becoming the Fifth Prophet of Egyptian Principal God Amun Re, he plays an active role in the political struggle between powerful Amun priesthood and the Pharaoh always to his advantage. He develops a romantic relationship with the daughter Nebetah of Amenhotep, he conspires with priesthood to kill the Crown Prince Thutmose by poisoning him and elopes with Nebetah to embarrass the Pharaoh and strengthen the priesthood. He was exiles by Pharaoh Amenhotep to Nubia with wife Nebetah, but Nebetah is able manipulate and both stays with sister Sitamun in Waset. As Akhenaten becomes Pharaoh and changes Principle God from Amun to Aten and clashes directly with priesthood, Pawah instigates a rebellion which is crushed by Pharaoh’s military. But this time the couple is exiled to Nubia and they had to go there. Pawah finds a Nubian lady Duwana and exploits her physically and financially to his best advantage. He treats his wife Nebetah through an abusive relationship, even kills their newborn son and put blame on wife to be able to manipulate her better. After a year with help of Duwana the couple sneaks out of Nubia to Waset and starts a full phased planned conspiracy and rebellion against Pharaoh Akhenaten and the book ends here.
Lauren has written this fictionalized story of Pharaonic era nicely, you learn about the life and the way of the ancient Egyptian life, you of course enjoy the villainous character of Pawah by hating him all the time. I liked the book. But Lauren, your series is getting too complicated with many books over a small span of history, several places in this book are common with books of your “A Lost Pharaoh Chronicles” series. You kind of wrote Pawah Biography-I and Pawah Biography-II, first one was ok, but this one was perhaps overkill. Please look beyond 18th Dynasty up and down there is a lot of food for your pen instead overcrowding a small bandwidth of time.
Exiled penned by the author Lauren Lee Merewether is the first book in A Lost Pharaoh Chronicles Complement Collection. It is a historical fiction so if you enjoy reading such novels then this book would fit perfectly to your reading taste.
Story features Pawah that is a narcissistic, psychopathic, and calculative schemer. Pharaoh and his two sons stand in Pawah’s way to the divine crown. Pawah was born poor but still he managed to be Fifth Prophet of Amun. Now his plan is to reach to the throne by seducing Pharaoh's daughter. Will Pawah get succesful in his mission or something else is written in his fate? Find out yourself by reading this intriguing story.
Readers will find rich glossary at the beginning of the book that would help them a lot while reading it. This story set in Egyptian places made this book more intriguing. I appreciate author's imagination in building the amazing world. It's a fast paced story and I didn't feel bored anytime while reading it. I like to strongly recommend this to historical fiction lovers.
𝑴𝒚 𝑹𝒆𝒗𝒊𝒆𝒘: Lauren Lee Merewether's Exiled is the first book that I have read written by the author. It is the first installment in a Lost Pharaoh Chronicles Complement Collection. Antagonist in the story is Pawah. Being the Fifth Prophet of Amun, Pawah already has access to gold, a corrupt power shrouded in secrecy and the heart of young Princess Nebetah.
Fans of Egyptian history will find this story intriguing and hard to put down. Pawah has a conspiracy to murder Pharaoh and his heirs. Give this historical novel a read to discover will Pawah be successful in becoming the ruler of Egypt?
The character descriptions are rich and well written. Cover photo of the book is nice. I appreciate author's historical knowledge to pen down such interesting stories. Set in Egypt, this book will make you crave to find out more about Egyptian culture. It's a worth reading story and I am curious to read next book by the author.
Lauren Lee Merewether's Exiled: A Lost Pharoah Chronicles Compliment series is another excellent addition to the series.
This talented author sweeps you back to ancient Egypt and the time of Pawah in this well written tale of a man who is the epitome of evil. Or is he evil itself?
This is not a story for the faint of heart for this man could not stoop any lower than slathering on his belly like a snake.Through the authors extensive research we learn about the way of life in ancient Egypt. We become privy to the politics of the pharaohs and the priesthood and through her extraordinary blend of research and authors imagination she brings the characters to life brilliantly.
If you are fascinated by ancient Egypt this is the book for you. This is a must read!
Thank you so much Lauren for this fascinating look into this ancient world and Pawah!
Pawah sure does know how to be manipulative, cruel and unkind to get anything he feels entitled to. There isn't anything kind about this villain but he plays his character well. This story was put together well even though I strongly disliked Pawah, I couldn't put it down until I knew what happened next. I'm looking forward to reading the next book in the series.
The personification of evil... Once again, another excellently researched story of ancient Egypt. This one tells the story of an evil man, a protagonist beyond redemption, yet I kept reading because the storytelling is masterful and the read enjoyable. Each one of the books in the Complement Collection has drawn me closer to that period in history, and I’m enjoying the experience.
Never in my wildest dreams did I think a woman can endure such awful things. Pawah is living up to his reputation of evilness. This book keeps you on your toes wondering what will happen next. It's compelling and thrilling. You won't regret your purchase!
Another great book by Lauren Lee Merewether. A story set in ancient Egypt filled with adventure, intrigue, deception, life, and death. I recommend this book!
I don't know when I've hated a fictional character as hard as I hate the villain Pawah. Finally found out how the spineless Nebetah became the B**** on wheels Bekaten, a suitable partner for him!
