For almost a century, Ildaria Garcia has been on the run, a trouble magnet with a knack for taking down bad guys. Lately, her vigilante tendencies have drawn unwelcome attention to her fellow Immortals. Forced to relocate, Ildaria is supposed to lay low in a new town. Instead, she quickly entangles herself with six and a half feet of muscular, tattooed trouble.
Joshua James Simpson Guiscard - G.G. knows a lot about Immortals - enough to make him wary. Yet from the moment Ildaria walks into his club, he feels desire stronger than anything he’s known. Accepting the fact that they might be life mates is disconcerting. But when her past catches up to them, G.G. faces a choice - confront his demons at last, or lose a passion that’s hot as hell.

I really love the fact that these books don’t have to be read in order. I know that some of the characters in this book have been the subject of previous books, but everything in the book was explained as if it were a stand alone. I have only read the last two books in this series and I wasn’t lost at all. I enjoyed this couple and their issues.
Ildaria Garcia is has been in hiding for 200 years. She was attacked at a young age by a immortal and in fighting him off, she bit him and and swallowed some of his blood, which was how she was turned. The vampire that attacked her is the head of the South American Council and has been trying to find her to return her to the Dominican Republic.
Though Ildaria acted in self defense, she knows he will use his position on the council to have her punished or executed for what she did. Ildaria thinks it isn’t only revenge that has him so fired up to find her but the law that any immortal can only turn one person and most save that for their life mate if that person is a mortal.
After leaving the Dominican Republic, Ildaria ended up in Montana and was forced to leave there because she was performing some vigilante acts while looking for a man who attacked another student at the university she was attending for Accounting. Lucien Argeneau, the leader of the North American Council had Ildaria move from Montana to Canada because she had been drawing attention to their kind when she was caught on camera performing activities that a mortal female should not be able to do. Like throwing grown men across a street.
When the same happens in Canada due to no fault of her own, Ildaria has to change her ways or face execution for continually bringing attention to immortals. So Ildaria gets a job at the local immortal bar from the owner, a guy named G.G. (for Green Giant). G.G. is six feet five or more and has tattoos and a green mohawk. It soon becomes apparent that he is a possible life mate for her.
I enjoyed this story quite a bit because there was a good romance between G.G. and Ildaria and some great conflict was brought into the mix. G.G. had seen his mother being turned when he was a young child and seen how the change caused her to suffer greatly. He was traumatized and has never forgotten so though he owns two bars for immortals and is around them a lot, he never wants to fall for one or be turned. Plus he is not the kind of guy that would go after an employee.
The characters were great in this book especially Ildaria and G.G. I loved the scene where she tells him how she grew up and what happened to her in the Dominican Republic. There were also quite a few supporting characters, the best of which is G.G.’s small dog named H.D. The dog plays a big part in the book and is so cute.
The romance is quite steamy and also a source of laughs at times. When immortal life mates find each other at the beginning, they can’t even touch each other without wanting to have a “shag fest”. Also when they do that, it is not uncommon for both parties to pass out after the deed. They can also have shared dreams which turn out to be pretty steamy.
I voluntarily read & reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts & opinions are my own.
This was my first book of Lynsay Sands and I didn't realize it was #31 in the series. The good news is, I don't think it mattered. I was not lost at all and had no idea it wasn't a standalone. Anyone can pick this book up and read it.
Overall, this was a pretty entertaining read. I enjoyed the main characters, especially Angel. I liked how she couldn't help but get herself in trouble with the council for stepping in to save humans. She had a good sense of right and wrong and was willing to take her chances to do the right thing. She's had a bad past and doesn't trust easy but she seems to draw people to her despite that.
G.G. or Joshua, was as equally an entertaining character. He's not one that will make you go all hot and bothered for a hero, but I liked him. His mother was hilarious.
This has a good cast of side characters that I can easily assume are mc's in previous books. I have found a few couples that I want to get to know more, so I will be checking out some of the earlier books.
I've said it before, but I mean it this time. I'm done. Not just with the Argeneau books, but with Sands. This book was awful. The "heroine" has some right-winger language in the beginning. The "hero" slut shames the heroine's mom. The Juan guy was lusting after a 14yo and no one seemed to have a problem with it. During the Juan guy's monologue near the end, each new sentence just kept getting worse and worse. And the thing Sands does constantly in the Highland books where she over describes complicated processes that no one cares about happened here too. There are details that were made so much of here that had no point. Who TF cares is she forgot her shoes?
This was a VERY fun ride! The attraction between GG and Ildaria was SCORCHING. This was everything I was looking for in a paranormal fantasy and it was ridiculous fun!
This review was originally posted on Addicted To RomanceI received this book for free from Avon in exchange for an honest review. This does not affect my opinion of the book or the content of my review.
Immortal Angel is the newest book in the infamous Argeneau series and this author just NEVER disappoints. I will say that I really loved how this story sets off ....how it develops and how it definitely ends. This author did something a bit different I never expected to see in one of her books especially this series and it was really interesting to see how it all pans out in the end. And there is a bit of a love triangle....which happens later in the book but is still pretty monumental to the story. Its an element that you never expect from the beginning.
Immortal Angel sets off with Ildaria Garcia who keeps getting into trouble. She has only been an immortal for a couple hundred years but she isn't like many other immortals. She is working on her college degree but when she keeps getting caught saving people on camera in front of witnesses....Lucien isn't thrilled and pulls her away from school and sends her to a place where he can have a tighter leash on her. She ends up working at a immortal bar and working for a mortal man who has immortal ties with both of his parents being immortal. But he is haunted in seeing his mother's turn and refuses to ever go through that. But when Ildaria finds out that he is her lifemate, she is shocked but delighted but also aware she will get little time with him. But she is being hunted, by a immortal in South America who has never stopped searching for her. But when truths about who he really is ....she might end up with two lifemates
I simply loved Immortal Angel, it was such a fantastic book and so so different from anything we have really encountered in this series. A bit of a love triangle, now this love triangle builds toward the later end of the book. I really felt for Juan though. To be honest I hope he gets a story and soon. Because at first we see him as the villain, but then as truths become revealed we see how tormented he is. Ildaria has suffered much and unlike many immortals doesn't have wealth or money. But is working on bettering herself. She can kick ass though and can fight and defend herself if necessary. I really adored her character because she has such a core of strength.
Joshua, really struggles with seeing her as his lifemate. He knows about lifemates but for a bit upon meeting her when they have shared sex dreams he views himself as a sick man because Ildaria works for him and refuses to take advantage and is willing to move to another country before he dishonors her. But I love how Ildaria who has little experience in the bedroom, has to find a way to seduce him and its pretty fun to see their "courting" happen.
Lynsay Sands does such an incredible job in delivering such a beautiful story that wraps you up in warmth and laughter. Immortal Angel was such a fun book and this might be the first book in romance I have read with a hero who has a mohawk.....a green one but he makes it work. And seeing how he caves in becoming immortal....well lets just say his mother is conniving and I LOVED it how she worked his jealousy to make him accept being turned. It was pretty funny how it worked out in the end and seeing how Ildaria and Joshua find their way together.
Overall I found Immortal Angel to be a thrilling, laugh your socks off romance that fills the soul with light and attention.
This is a well-written, entertaining, steamy paranormal romance written with Ms. Sands' classic humor and wit. It is an excellent addition to the Argeneau series, and can easily be read and enjoyed as a stand alone.
Trigger warning: Book contains child abuse. What the Hell was with the rapey back story?
This is one of my favorite authors. I love this series BUT this was one of the most disturbing character back stories I have ever read in a book. This book could have gone an entirely different direction once it was revealed what Angelina suffered such as following the standard plotline of the abuser pays for his crime. What is with L. Sands child rape plot line device? First it was Margaruete's 1st husband who took control of her at 15.
#1 The identifying a lifemate as a child plot was in another book but it was handled more tactfully. In this book, Juan meets Angelina as a young child and considers her as a potential mistress...shes a teeen if that. Once he realizes she is a Lifemate he goes into creepy stalker mode.
#2. The attempted rape scene where the "truth" is revealed. Juan was raging due to his Lifemate acting like a "whore" and saves her from the potential rape BUT then he goes into a rape and almost rapes her. Luckily she bit his penis off before he could do anything worse then scare her...so a 13 year old girl saves herself by biting the dick off of her attacker. A COMEDIC VAMPIRE STORY HAS A 13 YEAR OLD GIRL BITING A MILLENIA OLD GUYS DICK OFF.
#3. ALL IS FORGIVEN, Juan, the almost rapist had drunk tainted blood which made him go raving mad. So everyone is understanding, it all makes sense so lets get to happy ever after. What the f*ck?! In the Sands world, I would have expected the 3 Council members to have at least expressed outrage over the seemily creepy pedophilia behavior of Juan and his previous actions or in my rewrite to have sentenced him to execution or AT LEAST revoke his Council position.
My ending revision: Angelina goes through counseling. Lucian reads her mind and fets the backstory and meets up with Juan to do the same. Lucian acknowledges the truth but recognizes Juan has broken immortal laws and also is crazy. Juan is brought before the Councils and is punished according to their laws.

I've found a new passion for PNR and because of this, I've got recommendations coming at me from pretty much everywhere. And I'm loving it!!
Lynsay Sands is an author that comes up quite a lot on my what-to-read next list so I thought I'd give her a try. Not only did I borrow this book from the library, I also bought a copy of Immortal Nights from Book Outlet. I'm determined to get through what I'm told are some amazing books!
I found Immortal Angel to be a surprising read. I went in with some expectations and some were met... others were not. I figured based on the cover that there would be tons of action, but aside from the very beginning, when Ildaria was going all vigilante, there was no action to be found. It was over and done with pretty quickly, which was a disappointment, however, I enjoyed the romance build and finding out some bits about the Immortal world these characters live in.
Was the concept of these people being vampire supposed to be so vague? They drink blood, they have enhancements, but the word vampire seemed to be something to be avoided. I'm not sure whether I liked that or not.
I thought that the relationship that grew between Ildaria and G.G. was cute, sweet, sexy and ridiculous (at times). I loved meeting all of the characters, I loved the romance, and only wished for something more. The author put a lot of effort into creating Ildaria's back story, which was truly tragic, and I was entertained by G.G.'s reluctance to be turned into an Immortal. I'm not sure what I wanted to be different aside from some action. It just ended up being an okay read for me.
Part of me hopes that Juan finds his true life mate. I felt bad for the guy and I want him to be caught up in happiness too.
I'm looking forward to getting through this author's backlist and falling in love with her characters!
Ildaria is a vampire who gets herself in trouble more than once because she has a habit of playing vigilante and saving humans. She's supposed to stay out of trouble and not bring attention to herself so that humans ask questions, but trouble seems to finds her.
Ildaria meets G.G. and when his dog doesn't try to bite her like he does everyone else, he hires her to dog sit and be his accountant. She really needs the job so she's happy to have it.
G.G. owns a bar that immortals frequent so he knows about them but doesn't want to be turned into one like his mother was when she found her lifemate. This is problematic when Ildaria realizes that G.G. is her lifemate and he's not going to be thrilled with that. They have shared dreams where he just thinks that he's dreaming about her and doesn't realize that she's actually really there with him.
When he realizes that he's her lifemate, they sit down and tell each other about their lives, start dating, taking things slow because of the brutal way she had been turned and get to know each other really well. Things are going really well for them and their relationship when the guy who turned her starts sending enforcers to bring her back to him even though the guy in charge where she lives tells him to back off. It turns out the guy that's after her for revenge is an important person in the immortal council which governs the enforcers. The enforcers are like police for the immortals sent by the immortal council, sent to hunt down rogue immortals who misbehave and break the rules.
But things aren't always the way we think they are and that's the case for Ildaria too. So when her nemesis comes to town and she has a chance to face him once and for all, things don't go as she thought they would.
I loved this book. Just when I thought I knew what would happen, I was thrown a huge twist that changed the end of the story but it really gave this book a great ending.
Disclosure: I was given an ARC of this book via NetGalley but all thoughts and opinions are my own.
What a fun and addicting paranormal escape! It's a world of vampires where most humans obliviously exist. G.G. is not one of those. In fact his clubs cater to immortals and he balances the dangers that entails as a human amazingly well. When he meets Ildaria, however, everything changes. It's soul-mates with a twist!
The plot-line is interesting and even though this is number 31 in the series (yikes!!) the enjoyment is still as palpable and the journey just as satisfying as if it were a stand-alone. It never deepened to the point of allowing a reader to really feel the relationship between G.G. and Ildaria beyond the physical chemistry. And the secondary characters weren't fleshed out at all (probably the most noticeable point in being last in a long line of previous books) but for just a fun escape on an evening where deep thinking is optional, this story is perfection!
It’s not a good sign when your favorite character in a romance is the Hero’s mom.
This one was a miss for me.
I mean the heroine was cool. And the hero was nice enough. But I just couldn’t picture it. I thought the hero was fairly young since he has a green Mohawk and runs a night club, and is at one point described as a man child. But nope. He’s in his 40s? Idk. I wasn’t paying too close attention. And his name is Joshua but goes by G.G. And his dog is H.D. Idk.
His mom was cool though. I’d hang with her.
Also the villain of the story was way better in the 5 min he was in the story than G.G. was the whole book. I think I would have rather read an enemies to lover/misunderstanding than whatever this was.
One star for the villain Don Juan and one star for the hilarious mom.
*sighs* Did I like Immortal Angel? Yes Did I love Immortal Angel? No
G.G ( Joshua Guiscard) has been making many appearances in the Argeneau series since practically the beginning. He has been apart of the Immortal world since the age of five and all fans have been waiting patiently for him to meet his lifemate. When I seen him in Twice Bitten and he had a larger role, I thought to myself, he story is coming soon. Ildaria is our "bad girl" that we met in Vampires like it Hot. She is a magnet for trouble. She is extremely strong willed, hates to see anyone in trouble, and it usually backfires on her. This is where the story begins.
Ildaria has once again been caught doing wrong doing. She always means well, but it continues to get here in trouble, this time with Lucian. She is forced to drop her college classes and needs a better job. She meets G.G. at the nightclub he owns while running an errand for Marguerite.
From there we have people who are equally stubborn and have something in their past that keeps them form moving forward.
I love both of these characters, but wanted more there their story. This one was a little more serious than some of hers in the series. I always miss Lynsay's trade mark humor. I also felt we didn't get enough time in GG's mind. I feel it was 70/30 and I missed reading more about his thoughts and feelings while slowly falling in lowly with Ildaria. I also wasn't completely sold on the villian aspect of the story. It just seemed as if it didn't flow well. I last complaint was the Prologue. I didn't feel it was necessary or that it added to the story. I feel as if it was randomly tossed in.
Despite all of my complaints, I did like it. I love the Argeneau world that Lynsay had created and expanded over the years. I will reread this one along with all the ones before it while I eagerly wait for the next addition to the series.
I received this as an ARC from Netgalley. All thoughts and opinions are my own. Thank You!
Been a while since I have read a Lynsay Sands novel but I do still love her style and the worlds that she creates. This finds Ildaria Garcia constantly looking over her shoulder for danger. Even though she is an immortal she could still be killed. Trying to make ends meet and finding a new home in Canada she meets Joshua (GG) Guiscard who runs a club and who is very mortal. Can these two figure a way to make their attraction last? Great characters in this story along with smooth prose. "A copy of this book was provided by HarperCollins Publishers Avon via NetGalley with no requirements for a review. Comments here are honest and are my own views."
Vampir on the Rocks ist der mittlerweile 31.
I'm so mad. I was loving this. Ildaria is a fantastic heroine who I've been excited to get a story for since she was introduced just a few books back. GG is a classic fave, I've literally been waiting to read a book where he's the hero since I was a literal teenager. The story is fun, and I loved watching the two of them fall for each other. I do feel like Sands has gone a little hard on the traumatic back stories for the last several books in particular, but I wasn't bothered by it here, and I was excited to see where stuff would go. The prologue was completely unnecessary and I would have liked more chapters from GG's perspective, but I was totally willing to work with what was there, and it was possibly veering towards top five in the series territory for me (and considering this is book 31, that's no small feat!). But the ending. THE ENDING. I ended up regretting staying up to finish it because not only did I lose sleep, but I also did it for an ending that made me miserable. I'm gonna go into that fully, but I'm putting it in spoiler tags out of politeness.
Three quarters of this book was like a solid 4.5 stars for me, I was so happy reading this. But that final act was 1 star. Ugh. I'm still going to read the series, but that ending is one of those occasions that is really trying me on that front. Especially since I'm kind of afraid that the villain in this book is going to get his own novel some day, and I could not want that less. Vasco still deserves his own book, but Juan can eat glass.
Yet from the moment Ildaria walks into his club, he feels desire stronger than anything he’s known. Accepting the fact that they might be life mates is disconcerting. But when her past catches up to them, G.G. faces a choice—confront his demons at last, or lose a passion that’s hot as hell.
Heather's Notes The prologue on this book was so good, but then it fizzled out into nothing. I am not even sure why it was in the book. The entire thing ended up being just another paragraph, it made no real sense in terms of the story. After the prologue, I actually had trouble getting into the story. I didn't really connect with G.G. or Ildaria. I actually felt sorry for the other guy. I hope he and Vasca get a book soon. They deserve a happy ending. As in all series, some books are better than others, and for me this was not one of her betters. I will of course continue the series, I still love LS writing.
For context I've loved some of the books in this series but it now feels like Lynsay Sands is trying to outdo the traumatic backstory of her characters with each new book. They're certainly getting more disturbing, and unpleasant to read, and should probably come with trigger warnings.
That aside, when it gets to the point that the only time the main couple really spend together is a couple of dates mentioned almost as an aside and long conversations about childhood trauma, (and sex because nanos) well lets just say that's not my idea of romance either.
There were a few things that I found difficult to believe, like the idea that psychological trauma might manifest during a physical relationship but gets a pass in realistic dreams... but then I guess that is never actually a problem in the book, or maybe one counselling session with Greg fixes everything?
The thing I most had a problem with though was the idea that everyone apparently forgave 'the bad guy', I won't say that hasn't been done before but this time I don't think there was even remotely enough to justify it and it made the behaviour of some established characters seem a bit off.
The main characters of this book are likeable, and there's still some of the humour there, and of course you want GG to get his happy ending so I gave it two stars, but I'm not sure it really deserved it.
The Argeneau vampires are one of my favorite paranormal romance series. But what started out as a highly amusing take on immortals, with lots of comedic moments, has turned into a much more serious series with highly detailed descriptions of very mundane things. For example, a scene where Ildaria and GG are making breakfast was written out step by step from him cooking each item to them carrying each thing to the table. It was tedious. I expected to want to skip over the usual immortals explanation that's in each book for new readers to this series, but skipped more than that with the tedious descriptions. Then there were the two lines that completely threw me out of the story. I'm all for authors expressing their political beliefs on social media. It can also be expected in their books if it fits the plot. But I felt blindsided by Ildaria's comment 'you can't call anyone anything anymore without offending someone'. Maybe it wasn't meant to be political, but it was so off the wall it threw me. The second was when she said people in the US have children and expect the government to help them. Um, excuse me? Anyway, Lynsay Sands is usually on my auto-buy list but now I'm rethinking that policy.

Immortal Angel was yet another exciting and charming installment in Lynsay Sands’ long running Argeneau series where a vigilante immortal heroine on the run from her past finds a potential lifemate in a mortal hero who refuses to be turned. You can just imagine the drama, the action scenes, and of course the laughs Sands is known for.
I can’t believe I’m saying this thirty-one books in, but I’m still having a blast with this series. It’s always fun to catch up with previous characters, like Marguerite & Julius, Lucian, Sam, but equally as entertaining to get to know new people. Well, new-ish in G.G. and Ildaria’s case... Read More
I’m giving it a 3. The amount of manipulation of the h/H by virtually everyone in the last few chapters to achieve the appropriate HEA was downright obnoxious.
There be spoilers here but since the book has been out 6 months at this point...
So 200 years ago, our h found herself in an increasingly awkward position. This guy kept walking her home on nights her grandma had to work late at the nearby villa. It must be stated here that she was not 14 yet. So one of these nights, her friend was having a party and she got permission to attend instead. And the group of kids unwisely went to a cantina. Heroine was attacked outside the establishment. The guy came to her rescue but in his very agitated state threatened to violate her. She retaliated by bobbitizing him - with her teeth.
He was an immortal - and she a potential life mate, not that that really matters under the circumstances Over the next 200 years, he’s been stalking her for want of a better word.
So she starts working for GG who is also a potential life mate to her, because of course he is. Marguerite wouldn’t have sent her there if he hadn’t been. And several weeks later, he’s clueless about that aspect, because they haven’t actually talked about it, and he’s ready to move back to Merry Olde England because he feels like a pervert. She finally talks to him (about time), and then they start dating...and seeing a therapist for their issues (his mother was turned when he was very young and it left an impression on him).
We are at the 2/3 point and apparently Everything Needs Resolved Now. Enter mom and dad - literally. I dunno - waking from a post-coital coma to find my prospective FIL standing there, leering at me would probably make ME run for the hills. And we discover prospective MIL has a similar lack of decorum when she follows the h into the bathroom when she takes a shower. Errr.. Our h, who was raised differently and greatly bothered by this, not that Ms Obtuse bothers to notice (though she reads everything else in her mind) finally gets dressed only to be ORDERED to the enforcer house to Confront her Past. And of course, creepy stalker of 200 years has difficulty comprehending that she does not want anything to do with him.
Shortly after this, while h is waiting for H to come back to the apartment, his parents stage this elaborate, ridiculous mind game with him to get him to turn. I still don’t get why they had him shave his head and reinvent himself before going home. Considering the h’s tendency to get into trouble by attacking people, and her deadly accuracy with a high heeled shoe, the poor guy’s mother could have walked in on him bleeding on the floor with a shoe in his head. As opposed to being strangled by a towel by the naked h.
Noting that all of this crap happened in the last third-quarter of the book, and entirely too much of the early part was pointless info dump (really, can you just give us a quick prologue about long long ago or something?)
Ildaria Garcia has been attracting trouble for a century. She has been at the center of vigilante justice at a college she was attending to become an accountant. But she just couldn't help herself from rescuing women in trouble. Unfortunately, that has attracted attention to her and her fellow immortals. So she was ordered to relocate to another city. Meanwhile, she runs into Joshua Guiscard, the nightclub owner where she ends up getting an accounting job and a dog sitting gig. But Joshua or G.G as he is nicknamed- is a lifemate to her and she has a new kind of trouble! Fun new novel in the immortal series.
Typical book in this series. Life mates (immortals- not vampires) are found but struggle with “something” before they can reach their HEA (happily ever after). This author also writes Scottish Highlander romance. Wonder if we will see an immortal highlander romance?!
loved. I was so wrapped up in this story. I love this series, I am always thrilled when I get my hands on a new book from Lynsay Sands. This book did not disappoint, it is a must read.
*I received my copy from Edelweiss for an honest review.
This is the thirty-first book in the Argeneau series by Lynsay Sands.
I am not certain if I have ever read a Lynsay Sands book but I was aware of this popular author and wanted to give this book a try. I have to say, I was not disappointed. Even though this is only 327 pages, it felt a lot longer. I could tell Sands really packed in all the details she could into this complex and fascinating read.
I guess this is more of a romance than anything else. Ildaria aka Angel is an Immortal turned into an Immortal by accident when she was fourteen. She has been on the run from this handsome landowner who turned her for 200 years. She is on the road to getting a degree in accounting but keeps having to drop her classes in order to keep herself safe. She ends up getting a job with G.G. (stands for Green Giant, real name is Joshua Simpson). Turns out that GG is her life mate. Immortals can read minds but she can’t read his since he is her life mate. But there is a problem, GG doesn’t want to be an immortal…. not ever.
This was a great read. It keeps your interest all the way through and I was really digging this whole Immortal world concept where the immortal is kept that way through nanites in their blood.
I am blown away that this author was able to already have thirty one books in this series. THIRTY-ONE! Wow! What an accomplishment. Definitely going to try and read more of these. They are rather addicting.
If you love a good paranormal romantic suspense mystery, definitely check this one out. You won’t be disappointed.
I received this as an ARC (Advanced Reader Copy) in return for an honest review. I thank NetGalley, the publisher and the author for allowing me to read this title.
This is definitely one of my favorite series ever. I own and have read and reread, and this is #31. I really enjoyed this one because it didn't have the arc of the big bad, but was almost a stand alone. Ildaria was accidentally turned 200 years before, and didn't have the support of a family and was on her own, living in Montana, going to college, when one of her vigilante fights was caught on a cell phone. This is going to happen a lot, so maybe in the future theses immortals might be outed. But for now, Ildaria needs a job, and she gets one at the immortal nightclub owned by G.G., a mortal who we have met many times. There is an adorable fluff ball dog, lifemate sex, and a possible villain. The prologue is sort of weird, with an FBI agent who shows up later, and I don't know if he will make an appearance again, but I presume so as Sands rarely has extraneous characters. When I read these books, I always wonder how I would react if I met such a person and they told me their story. Now will live in anticipation for the next one.
Very happy to see Ildaria & G.G. get their HEA!! Their story is sweet & fun & of course includes the hot hot hot life mate steam. My heart ached for Ildaria & how she came to the turn, and for G.G.'s initiation into the Immortal world. I totally felt for his reasons of not wanting to turn.
I highly enjoyed how they got through those hurdles - and seeing more Lucian!! I LOVE MY GRUMPY BLONDE IMMORTAL! And I'm rooting for Marguerite to find a life mate for a particular character in the hopes that it'll stop them from the insanity! LOL
Also, H.D. is a scamp & so adorable & I loved the way he was written into the story!
Ildaria Garcia has always seemed to attract trouble. She’s been on the run for nearly 200 years after a traumatizing event in her youth and in that time has developed a habit of helping those in dire situations and taking out would-be criminals. Unfortunately, she hasn’t been camouflaging her superhuman abilities as well as she should during her vigilante activities and has drawn too much attention to the Immortals. Now she’s caught the notice of the Council and must relocate once again and try to stay out of trouble in a different city, where she finds herself in a totally different sort of entanglement with the owner of the local Immortal night club.
Joshua James Simpson Guiscard, better known as G.G. because of his 6’5” frame and signature green Mohawk, knows plenty about Immortals since his mother and stepfather are Immortals themselves. G.G. is slightly wary of Immortals, but instantly and fiercely attracted to Ildaria. He’s a bit alarmed to learn they could be possible life mates, as he’s always wanted to remain mortal. When the past she ran from finds her in Toronto, G.G. must decide what he’s willing to do to stay by Ildaria’s side, forever.
The books in this series seem to be either his or miss for me, but this one was a hit. I loved G.G. as the gentle giant hero with a fluffy white dog. It was just adorable to me. He and Ildaria were such an odd pairing but they were adorable together. I appreciated that this was relatively low on angst and G.G. and Ildaria were quick to communicate with each other openly rather than try to play games. There was a great twist here that didn’t go the way I expected it to, and I found G.G.’s mother and her sly manipulations of the men in her life to be hilarious. Ildaria’s gaining of a family after so long on her own was also very sweet, almost as much so as her growing to trust G.G. I think this story flowed well and it was a nice feel good read for me.
I voluntarily read and reviewed a complimentary advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
After 31 books I think it's time to bid adieu to the Argeneau books. I haven't loved the last 15 or so, but this one really made me feel I wasted my time.
The story starts like gang busters then settles in to a standard romance with little chemistry between the characters. I didn't love G.G. and his wishy washiness. He is so sweet and understanding to the point he gets beat up by a woman, a great big guy like him??? I can see, with her background, that Ildaria may have issues, but not to have dealt with them for 200 years?
The author also provides details about a variety of things that ring so false it irritated me. 14 year old (non-prostitute) girls going to a bar in the early 1800's??? Especially in a latin country??? $20/hr. (even Canadian) to dog sit ALL day ($160!!!) in ADDITION to regular pay. Plus she'll make enough that out of her first TWO WEEK check she'll be able to cover first and last months rent with a bit leftover. Nice dream world she's living in. G.G., a normal human, can afford everything he's doing? Sorry, when an author provides details, get them close to right/realistic. The whole explanation about Ildaria's traumatic event was ridiculous. I didn't go back to check, but it seems like the price gouging topic was completely dropped.
Uninteresting characters and story line makes this a book I can't recommend even to hard core fans of the series.
I received a copy of this book directly from the author/publisher in exchange for an honest review.
I wanted to like Immortal Angel by Lynsay Sands. I've heard so much praise for the author's work, and the genre was right up my alley, so I was excited to dive in as a reader new to this particular author… but to be honest, I was underwhelmed.
By the third chapter, not a lot had happened. The entirety of Chapter 2 was spent squandered on small talk in a bar, mostly about a small dog. I like dogs as much as the next girl, but it just wasn't interesting. I was bored. Though the writing was technically well-written, there was nothing about the story or the characters that gripped me or enticed me to keep reading.
Maybe the book gets better… I don't know. I am of the belief that a book should make you want to continue reading, particularly with a strong start, and this didn't do that for me. It lacked soul. By the end of chapter three, I lost interest and DNF'd the book. There may be other readers out there that enjoy this book far more than I did. As a new reader, I wasn't impressed.
This was lackluster for me. I liked the two characters. I liked them as side characters in previous books and was excited to see them in this one! But the story itself seemed... less than ideal.
First of all, there should be an abuse warning or something! I was gutpunched by Ildaria's past! Second of all, the drama and intrigue in this book was safe, and the twist was expected (as the twist had been used before, basically). I didn't enjoy GG's decision at the end. It wasn't addressed in their relationship well, and seemed to be thrown in because the book was ending.
GG was so funny and interesting in other books, and he didn't get a chance to shine. And Ildaria, while totally bad-@ss, deserved more of a fightscene and a bit more action! I still liked it, and am glad that I read it, but it's not one of my top 10 in this series!
