Word-slinger. Purveyor of truth. Jaded heart.

By day, Felix Franklin is an investigative journalist. By night, he produces Sinister in Savannah, an investigative podcast, with his two best friends. Felix’s life revolves around three principles: fortune favors the bold, honesty is everything, and love is for schmucks.

The podcast is back to investigate allegations that a local businessman is dabbling in money laundering. On the surface, everything about Cameron Spencer, aka The Auto King, appears to be perfect. The trio of trouble quickly learns all that glitters is not gold. Seeking the truth will challenge Felix’s convictions and put his life in grave danger. The biggest threat to his well-being isn’t an unknown villain; it’s the reappearance of his first and only love.

Jude Arrow had it all: great looks, charming personality, and a lucrative career as Atlanta’s hottest news anchor. So, why had he recently relocated to Savannah? When the two reporters are forced to work together, Felix will get a chance to ask him. The answer will stun Felix until he remembers not to believe anything that comes out of the heartbreaker’s pretty mouth.

Love and hate are two sides of the same coin and just as conflicting as the battle of wills that ensues. Will the chip on Felix’s shoulder save him from trusting Mr. Wrong or ruin his chances with Mr. Perfect?

Sinister in Savannah series is a fictional podcast exploring the city’s most nefarious crimes with Southern-fried snark. The books explore friendship, love, loss, and the irrepressible human spirit. Mr. Perfect is book two of three. While each book is written about a different couple, the series should be read in order due to continuing storylines. Sinister in Savannah is an LGBT romantic suspense series with mature language and sexual content intended for adults eighteen and older.

I have to admit to not reading all of the Zero hour books which this series is a spin-off of. I might go back at some point and read the two books I haven't read, since I read them when I still was in denial about liking romantic suspense. At this point it doesn't matter. I am completely sold on this series. It's fantastic. It might help that I'm one of those weirdos liking spoilers. If you haven't read the three Zero Hour books and don't like spoilers I recommend reading them first.

I wanted to read Felix story as soon as I met him in the first book. Something about him spoke to me and I wasn't disappointed. Felix and Jude had chemistry as hot as fire and the sexual tension between them before they got there was delicious. Second chance stories can be hard but this one was perfectly written. I wanted Felix and Jude to get back together from the get go, but I was all the way there with Felix being skeptical. At the same time I also was there for Jude working for it. When they finally got together... it was hotter than fire.

The mystery part of this book was AWESOME. It was intense. It was intriguing. I had absolutely no clue about how it would end, and I did not see the twist coming.

We got a nice little clue to what we can expect from the next book and let me tell you... I can't wait. I can already tell it's going to be intense.

Reread 2023 and I still love it.

Liked this better than book 1 - the romance was much better in this book. I do think the mystery from book 1 was better though

Aimee Nicole has outdone herself in this one, it's sheer perfection for a second chance former lovers romance and it's coupled with a really good suspense plot as a bonus.

Also, the ending/introduction to book three's love interest for Rocky Jacobs is utterly brilliant and had me howling with laughter once I'd got over the heart-racing fear that our intrepid threesome had landed themselves in a situation they couldn't escape from.

Felix and Jude are a glorious pair once they reconnect, but it takes some doing to reach that point and I felt so badly for both of them. This isn't a romance where there's a clear fault, both men were badly hurt at their split when they were young men at college.

I was rooting for Jude to get Felix to listen to him and to forgive him though from the off. The book is completely from Felix's POV but you get a real sense of the character of the man who comes back into his life after more than a decade.

At first Felix is prickly and resistant, but as the investigation he's working on for the Sinister in Savannah podcast with Jonah and Rocky gets ever more dangerous, his feelings towards Jude change when they're constantly thrown into each other's path.

Both men have a ways to go, not because Jude was all to blame, but because Felix needs to accept a few painful truths about himself when they were still at college. There's loads and loads of feels in this book and they come from all over the place!

The suspense part of the plot is very clever, I have to say, I never saw the final twist coming at all! Brilliantly done Aimee!

Now I am absolutely dying to get my hands on book three because I've a feeling Aimee is going to blow that one out of the water. The sparks between Rocky and his love interest were off the charts with such a backstory I cannot wait to dive into.

This series has been an absolute triumph, I also really appreciated the guest appearance from Locke and Keye too 😁

It seems natural for some folks to carry some of their inferiority complexes that occurred when they were younger, into adulthood. Sometimes the bullying they got from these complexes stay with them longer...sometimes for an entire lifetime. I thought that this was going to be the case for Felix Franklin, when he met his first love Jude Arrow, again. The whole thing started back in college when someone told Felix that Jude had spread something derogatory about his mother. It was probably true...but still hurtful to young Felix none the less. Now Jude is back, and both he and Felix, are now more mature adults. Felix is an investigative journalist who has earned the reputation of always seeking and telling the truth and being relentless in pursuing justice for those who are unable get it on their own. Together with his two best friends, Rocky and Jonah, they created the "Sinister in Savannah" podcast which has gained a lot of listeners due to a recent case that was reopened and solved after it was botched up badly by both the police and lawyers who handled it. Injustice was committed and the wrong person was punished. Now we come to Jude who was the “Love of Felix’s Life,” up until the perceived betrayal during their freshman year in college. Jude moved to Savannah after his career had ended in Atlanta. He did this all because Felix was in Savannah. Jude now anchors the news for a local television network. Their paths cross again when a case that "Sinister in Savannah" is currently working on is found to have ties to a previous interview that Jude had done when he came back to Atlanta. Felix and Jude find that their love may be cold, but it is anything but dead. Now they just have to work out half a lifetime of grievances and miss understandings. For those who have read the first book, Ride the Lightning, it was focused on another couple, Jonah and Avery, but it laid out the groundwork for the storyline of this, the second book. The "Sinister in Savanah" series, has everything you could possibly want to create not only a really good story, laced with plenty of suspense, mystery, friendship, chosen family and love, but also memorable, likable characters.

4.75 I couldn’t put the book down stars

“So, this is what it feels like to come home,”

“You’re my home, Ace. That’s what I should’ve told you all those years ago.”

I always love a good second chance romance and this one was so well down. I loved how everything went down between the two of them, how they had to fight and trust each other for their happiness and they deserved it so much. These were two men clearly meant to be together. And I love the lack of angst, once they talked about what they wanted and had a good discussion to clear up the mess that was their first break up, that was it for them, they knew they wanted each other and fought for it, I fucking loved that.

As for the story in itself, I love the passing of this series, it’s so damn fast and exciting, I can’t put these books down once I start reading them, they pull you in and you can’t stop until you’re at the end of the books. I really love the cases we’re following in these books, they’re so interesting and always keep me invested and wanting to know what will happen. I like how it’s not predictable too. It’s really nicely done.

And i’m so excited for the next book, I need to see Rocky with his man, like right now.

I mostly enjoyed the story. The MCs, Felix and Jude, hade nice chemistry and snarky banter, there was enough going on between all the characters as well as the investigation to keep things from getting stagnant plus humorous situations cracked me up. The story had single POV *sigh* (I always wish for dual) and featured second chance romance. Overall it was good but I had couple of issues with it to keep me from giving it a 5 star rating.

The entire debacle between Jude and Felix that was based on lack of communication. It was so melodramatic. I wished for something a bit more complicated. The case was strong throughout the book and then it just fizzled out around 80% and the book ended so anticlimactically. I hoped for a bit of excitement there. The absence of Jude's POV made the story less for me. Do not get me wrong, Felix's issues alone were raw enough but I wished to know Jude better. Fast paced, mildly suspenseful second chance romance. Good story with decent writing and mild hiccups.

My favourite part of this was Rocky’s friendship and banter with Felix, I havent been interested in Rocky until now but this has got me keen for his book coming up next. I enjoyed the romance in this more than book 1 and felt like we got to know Jude more. I didnt enjoy the mystery as much, took me a while to get interested in it. Would have enjoyed Jude's POV here.

I love Felix and Jude together. It's the second book in the series and should be read in order as it has continuing storylines.

I love a good second chance romance and this one was perfect. They have so much chemistry and UST and that sort-of-hate -to-love thing going on. It's entirely from Felix's POV and I have been curious about him since forever. But my favourite characters would be Felix's his neighbour's aggressive peacocks. 🦚🦚

The plot twist was so unexpected that I never saw it coming. It's so cleverly done. I love the friendship between the trio and also adored the cameos from Sawyer and Royce.

I want Rocky's book so bad because just from the hints, I know it's going to be amazing. Also how cute is Rocky when he gets drunk?! Cannot wait for his book!!

This is really an awesome series. The second book is better than the first and if the third book is about our Major, I think its gonna be damn awesome! I can't wait to read Major's story. Anyway, back to this. The heated rivalry between Felix and Jude was so intense especially since they were both past lovers. Felix and Jude were so stubborn and that added a lot of lightning between them. And that lightning sparks were just thunderous and electrifying. Adding the crime solving plot was just the cherry on top of my delicious sundae to devour this book.

You would totally love this if you are a fan of second chance lovers, enemies to lovers and rivalry lovers!

4.5 Page-turning-mystery Stars!!😍 🤩 I really didn't expect this book to surprise me as much as it did.. but OMG 😳 😳, the twists and turns in the plot kept me glued to my kindle all day today. From the onset the second chance romance between Felix and Jude seemed sort of secondary to the actual mystery in the plot and honestly the mystery about Mr Perfect started out slow too. But as the story unfolded it became more complex and dangerous for our MCs and when the secrets started to tumble out, I don't know who was more gobsmacked, Felix or me 😱 😱.
Although the hot romance portion of Felix and Jude's second chance romance starts a little late, their connection is palpable 💓 and their chemistry explosive🔥🔥. Felix has a lot of baggage; but Jude is a great conduit to his insecurities. Their past misunderstanding seemed to have been driven by their age and egos, but with maturity they get the sense of what's more important and it was heart-rending to have Felix finally get his HEA.

“You’re more important to me than any scoop. Your heart is more valuable than any award.” “Jude,” Felix whispered thickly, as tears formed in his eyes. “You’re my home, Ace. That’s what I should’ve told you all those years ago."

Highly recommended to all fans of M/M romance who love a little danger in their steamy romances. 👍 👍
(This book should be read after Ride the Lightning , some plot-lines continue and the characters are part of an ensemble)

The second book in the Sinister in Savannah Series, is about investigative journalist, Felix Franklin and one of the members of Sinister in Savannah, an investigative podcast

As a result of his upbringing Felix has extremely low self-esteem. He grew up in poverty, living in a trailer park with his drug-addicted mother who traded sex for drugs and money.
But the kids in school knew about his mom “Their parents hadn’t hesitated to talk about the trailer trash at the dinner table and my classmates had eagerly filled my head with the harsh truth about my mother.”
Felix is the epitome of someone who desperately needs counseling, and while on the outside he appears happy and put-together, he is a bitter man.
He works very hard to be the best in his field and is should have been pleased to be chosen to do segments on "Crime Prevention Month" but he is paired with his nemesis and college sweetheart, Jude Arrow.

Fourteen years of distance and hating Jude, did not diminish his weight of his reasons to dump Jude, but I've yet failed to see that it was a valid cause.

There is a lot going on, in this book but the author's writing makes it easy to follow.
While I liked Felix's character, I also did not care much for Jude. I did not connect with the suppose emotions and fourteen years of suppressed feelings. Glad that we had Marla, still a very awesome secondary character.

The book started off being good. We were getting to know Felix and seeing his friendship with Rocky. But it got progressively worse. And not because the author forgot how to write or something, but because it took too many easy ways out. But to explain that, I should tell you about the set-up.

The author recommends that you read this series in order, so if you've read the first book, you're already familiar with Felix, the reporter, and the animosity he holds for Jude Arrow, a famous news anchor. Turns out the animosity is because they have a past. They were in love, in college, until Jude supposedly betrayed Felix. It's obvious that he didn't, though and that it's just a misunderstanding. That's strike one.

I don't know about y'all, but conflicts caused by dumb misunderstandings are bad enough. When those conflicts result in 14-year-old grudges? Just no. And that's not the end of it.

We're told, by Felix, about how Jude is untrustworthy in life and incompetent and lazy when it comes to his job. He even gives us proof. But turns out, all of it was told out of context by Felix in one way or another, and there's nothing wrong with Jude at all. And that bothers me for two reasons. First, it makes Felix look like an asshole. And second, it tells us that the book wants the conflict caused by Jude's supposed wrongdoings, but without him actually doing anything wrong so that there's nothing to redeem. And it pissed me the fuck off because I felt like I'd been repeatedly lied to by the author.

On top of that, the Mr. Perfect mystery simply wasn't interesting. There wasn't much to it when I think about it. The characters did stuff for the investigation, but half of it had no effect on the overall plot. And the mystery wasn't even solved by the protagonists. So ultimately, most of what happened in the book was pointless.

Still, there were a couple of things I liked. One is the way Felix's insecurities were written. They felt very real. Of course, the author ruined it. Instead of those insecurities slowly fading as Felix got a successful career and made friends, they stayed intact until Jude came along. Then they were suddenly cured. So yeah, that was barely a positive, but I needed something because Felix isn't that likable, and we don't know Jude well enough. The writing is good, I guess. But the book could've really benefitted from Jude's POV.

The real positive, though, was the friendship between Felix and Rocky. I really liked it and how it was done, and I loved that the book took the time to develop it. Favourite part for sure.

Overall, the series has been a disappointment so far. This book, especially, I disliked. Neither the romance nor the mystery worked for me. Still, I think I'm still going to read the third book. It's the last one, and I'm curious (it follows Rocky and a guy we met toward the end). I hope it's good.

What did I just read? This was so good! I absolutely loved Felix and Jude together. I just wanted to give Felix the biggest hug honestly, he made me want to protect him at all costs.

“It doesn’t matter what others think about you. They don’t get to decide who you are or where you belong. They sure as hell don’t decide your capabilities.”

Their chemistry was palpable. I also loved the side characters to death. And I'm insanely excited for Rocky's book next!!! Probably will give this book a run for its money.

I so enjoy this series. This second novel is even better than the first. All the familiar gang is back, including Miss Marla, and we get to see even more of the gentle ribbing and fun banter between Rocky and Felix. Jude begins as someone I loved to hate for what he represents to Felix and I honestly was one hundred percent with Rocky every time he warned Felix not to be a fool and let Jude in again. Once that changes and we find out more about that time in college so long ago and the circumstances surrounding the revelations that came out and embarrassed Felix, we discover that Jude is not at all who we are led to believe he is at the beginning of the story. We walk alongside Felix as he begins to trust and, yes, love again and it is really quite lovely.

Felix has his journalism, the Sinister In Savannah podcast, and his friends. All these give him a full good life. When his first love, Jude, walks back into his life, dragging the pain of betrayal with him, Felix just wants the past to stay buried. Jude on the other hand still wants Felix and he’s determined to have him.

No super deep mystery here. The reader knows who the bad guys are early. Several surprising revelations kept the plot interesting and a twist at the end I wasn’t expecting (maybe even more than one). The romance was a slow buildup (till it wasn’t), then it got hot fast.

Great characters and I adored the peacock watchdogs. The writing, as always, was top notch. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend this series or any of her other books.

This book was SO GOOD. Since Felix wasn't the most likable character in the Zero Hour series, I was excited to get to know him better and find out what drove him to be the relentless investigative reporter he was known for being. I was even more excited to find out why he hated Jude Arrow so much. Theirs was a situation that should have been so easy to rectify, but the author did a spectacular job of convincing me why that hadn't been possible. I truly felt awful for the two young men who broke each others hearts over a decade before. I loved how persistent Jude was once he had Felix back in his orbit. Felix dished out stop signs and red lights at nearly every turn, but Jude latched onto any glimmer of encouragement he saw and refused to let go until Felix knew the truth about what happened when everything fell apart.

This book definitely had a better romance/suspense balance than the first book. The suspense part was so much fun. There was intensity, edge-of-your-seat moments, punches thrown, explosions and a whole lot of whaaaaaaaat when it came to Rocky and his "situation". Also...attack peacocks!

I do wish I had read all of the books in this universe in order. At the time that I read Invisible Strings and Bad at Love, I didn't think I'd pick these books up because I wasn't sure I even liked romantic suspense. Now I know better and have some regrets, but it's okay. I'm having so much fun reading them now and can't wait to read Rocky's book next.

I’m enjoying the series. Feels consistent, new characters as well as the old, mystery, snark and a second chance romance. Jonah has his happy ever after and now it’s Felix’s turn.

I was surprised how different Felix and Rocky’s relationship was in this one. It was nice to see them getting along and just how protective Rocky was. Jonah felt like he’d been included as a last resort and Locke and Key managed to get involved as well.

Felix was a pretty prickly character and I felt sorry for him with the doubts and insecurity. I did like Jude and how much of a straight arrow he was. It seems the guys are destined for those that pull their heads from their asses and don’t give up.

As much as I liked Felix and Jude. Their romantic relationship wasn’t my favourite in the book. There was Felix’s relationship with Rocky but I really liked the mentor relationship between Felix and Jimmy, that was adorable.

The mystery itself felt anticlimactic but I liked how Asher was introduced and the choice Felix had to make, especially after he was so quick on the draw in the last book. Another one with a happy ending. I’m looking forward to Rocky’s story.

I really liked both Jude & Felix. I would have rather Felix would have taken a breath & listened to Jude sooner. His hatred is well known from the first book where we met Felix then. But the full extent of his hatred is really felt in this book. He makes all kinds of disparaging remarks about how untrustworthy he is, lazy, etc when he comes to doing his job. It was pretty clear that what Felix thinks Jude did, he didn't do. And to really still be holding this grudge 14 years later at the same intensity is a bit much. I also think that the book would have been more enjoyable if we would have had dual POV's as I wanted inside of Jude's head. So our journalists are pulled into an investigation & working together helps heal the past.

Pretty perfect

I loved the first book and what we see of Felix in it. His own story was great.
He is snarky, has some deep issues he has trouble looking past but he is a fair and loving man.
I loved Jude, and how it went from a somewhat ennemies to lovers to a great second chance romance.
The mystery was very interesting and I didn't see it coming. Especially near the end when new characters were introduced.
Great book that I couldn't put down

I really, really liked this book better than the first! Some second chance novels have too much baggage for the MC's to get over what caused them to separate in tge first place but, ro me, this one flowed without me shouting "when are going to get your head out of your ass!" I genuinely liked both Felix and Jude, and can't wait for Major and Asher.

Much like Ride The Thunder, this book had an amazing plot and amazing romance but each on their own.

I liked Felix a lot than I expected, but Jude...he wasn't bad per se but I couldn't understand why he's pursuing his college boyfriend so relentlessly when their romance didn't seem that grand. I honestly shipped Felix ten times more with Rocky...THAT would've been something.

The ending was anticlimactic, even though it made sense, but for all our trouble the story ended with the a government interfering and realization that they were blind ambitious and idiotic. It wasn't a bad ending but also not a good one.

~~I received a free copy of this book to read and review for Wicked Reads ~~

4.5*s

This is the second book in the Sinister in Savannah series, and I would most definitely recommend that you start at the beginning. I feel that the first book really sets the scene on the podcast guys world and their expertise, as well as their friendship and personalities which I think you would regret otherwise – especially concerning the wonderful Marla and Amos. There is enough here to remind you, but thankfully no repetition.

Felix is the investigative journalist of the trio, and after their first success, they are all looking for the next injustice to resolve. So when it turns out that Felix’s first love from college is making a move towards him after 17 years, and that he has a similar role, but on a tv show, there is another issue thrown into the mix.

I really like Felix, he is such a cautious, thoughtful character. His upbringing was tough, he was bullied for being poor, never had treats etc. but he has worked hard to succeed and to enjoy what he has achieved. Jude was the first person who treated him well at college, but in the end things only he knew about Felix came out and spoiled his time there too. So he is more than a little distressed at having to deal with the man again. Wonderfully, Jude disarms him immediately, and then works so, so hard to make things right between them.

It may be 17 years, but they clearly still have chemistry and feelings for each other, and watching these develop as they also work together to right a wrong, is very enjoyable, and entertaining.

Add in the very exciting ending, where Rocky’s husband appears and muddies the waters in his life – and I want the next book even more than usual!

I hoped for more mystery...

This was told only from Felix’s POV. I think getting Jude’s perspective would have made this a better story. Maybe it would have made me care more about Felix, who was SO prickly.

In this book, you have to suspend disbelief a little bit. Felix,an investigative journalist, truth hunting is basically his identity, however, he believes all the negative things that Jude said about him in college without even fact checking. It seems VERY odd how quickly he turned on him. Especially because this was supposed to be the love of his life. 😏 Sorry but this part really bothered me. ☹️

The mystery is really not a mystery. You know all the baddies here and it was a bit slow moving.

Felix was a bit of an anti-hero and while I wanted him to succeed in his quest, I wasn’t really invested in him as a character.

This author is always a 1-click for me but this series is not for me. Unfortunately, I’m not connecting with the characters or the story in this series 😞
