Secrets are hard to keep in a small town. Lizzy’s the biggest secret in town and everyone loves it. But when a threatening note demands Lizzy’s identity, she and her detective boyfriend, Jackson, must take drastic steps to keep Lizzy safe. And when the threats escalate, they must ask the hard is this the end of the secret obituaries? The Secret Book Two is a fun read full of plot-twists, with a HEA you don’t want to miss!
I found this book discounted via BargainBooksy Book two somewhat follows up to what happened in book one. I didn't enjoy this one as much as the first one. She cries a lot, and I mean A LOT. They also kiss A LOT, but not at the same time she's crying. I was confused with Alba being sent to an assisted living facility and died at 68. That's really young to both die and sent over there. I thought the Taunting Timers were hilarious and it's too bad they don't really exist. Why would a police officer say that it's secure to “Keep the doors locked except to fill the candy bowl,”? Someone could be waiting for the door to open and jump that person. Editing needs another pass (his hand on top of mind, for ex.).
I could go on reading more of these secret obituary writer books. This one was a bit sinister, as Lizzy, Jackson, and Mr. Jonas searched for the perp who was demanding the reveal of the identity of secret obituary writer, or "else". Woven into the search we find Lizzy & Jackson falling in love, while Mr. Jonas is being smothered by Geraldine the cougar. They all wondered why this 60-something, who usually latched onto muuuccchhh younger men, was doing pursuing Mr. Jonas. Hmmmm. All things work together for those who love God, however, and these trials gave Mr. Jonas a starting place to change his path. Very good series.
Cutlip, Montana is enjoying a decade of secret obituaries thanks to Lizzy Langston and her boss Mr. Jonas. But now someone is trying to expose who the secret obituary writer is, and life is not good for them. Thankfully Lizzy's boyfriend, Jackson, is a police detective who is there to help.
This second book about the obituary writer continues flawlessly after a delightful book one. The characters are charming and refreshingly honest. All too soon the book was over and I felt a surprising loss knowing there would be no more new secret obituaries to read. I loved the concept of this two book series and highly recommend them to all for enjoyable reading!
Give up the secret or else! There is a very real threat to the Secret Obituary’s identity this time. First her boss, then, his new girlfriend are threatened. Can they catch this villain before they can follow through on a threat? At least, Elizabeth and her detective have a good reason to hang out. The sweet obituaries that she writes are funny and reminders not to judge others, because we don’t know the truth behind the lives we see.
Loved both book onr and two. Such a great story to read during these times of COVID19 stay at home orders. The obits are the ones that all of would like to read about in our families and communites. Would that there be a Secret Obituary writer in our area. The world could really use them. Sigh. Highly reccomend thbooks one and two!
I just loved this book. It made me smile, laugh, puzzle and wipe away tears of happiness and sadness. It just feels so real. I love the romance, the struggles of life changes and the Zumba outfits are outrageous. The crime was a good challenge which I couldn’t work out. Just perfection.
This two-part series is enjoyable, fun to read, and both touching and funny.
Lizzy is the secret writer of the special obituaries published in the local paper and written to tell more about a life than most obits do. Many are requested by friends or family.
Jackson is a police officer who is involved with Lucy and helps solve the mysteries involved in these books.
Jackson, Lizzy and Mr. Jonas are such a great combination of characters. The “secret” obituaries tell the truth behind the people who lives their lives before passing on. This makes me want to become a writer like this. You will not be sorry to spend your time with this series of books.
In the second book of this series, you will treated to a great rom com.
You’ll pick up with the same main characters and enjoy meeting new ones. They come together to make the perfect story for some hilarious moments. And then there’s the sweet romance and an intriguing mystery that swirl throughout the book.
This is the second book of this series and is as good as the first one. Solid, well-developed characters and an unusual storyline. It made me wonder what my secret obituary would say. Highly enjoyable. I hope there are more in the future.
Imagine that someone knows the truth about you. Really knows who you are But, then when the truth comes out someone doesn’t like it and they go after your love life. Read some great obituaries and find love.
An enjoyable feel good read. I loved the o it’s and the purpose behind them. They were very creatively written. The characters had depth and the story made sense. Definitely recommend. I’ll be reading the first one as I have not yet. Thank you Amy Martinsen for my free copy.
If you enjoy a good mystery with an storyline that keeps you entranced, and characters that walk right into your heart - The Secret Obituary Writer, book 1 & 2 are not to be missed!
Delightful sequel to book one!! Did not disappoint—I laughed out loud at the peripheral characters and the obituaries. Thoroughly enjoyed the thoughtful homespun wisdom sprinkled throughout. Can we have a book 3 pretty please.
If more obituaries were written like this they would certainly portray the person instead of just a blah statement of a well loved life. Cute romance as well as a mystery amidst humour
I loved these books. There was something sweet, personal, funny, and yet real about each one. The storyline was stronger with a bigger mystery. I loved the end of this one and the continuing love story. I truly enjoyed it.
Such a fun read. Enjoyed the obituaries and the town characters. Laughed a lot. Love Mr. Jonas. Hard to find a starting place after losing a loved one. Read both books in this series and each was enjoyable.
This book has it all! Great fun and lots of laughs, a mystery with threats, lonely people looking for love, some missing it but most finding it! The Secret Obituary Writer is still Anonymous. Her last obituary is hilarious!
I definitely recommend this book! I do suggest that you read the first book in the series beforehand. Both are wonderfully well written and so enjoyable! I'm so glad I stumbled upon this gifted author.
Brilliant, yet again. The obituaries are either extremely touching, hilarious, or both. Definitely read book one first so you can fully appreciate book two.
I very much enjoyed these two books on the Secret Obituary Writer. Clever, fun, and touching obits throughout give insight into the community. Good reading!
I love this two book series because it made me smile and feel good. You have to read this because each person's interpretation may be different and I don't want to spoil it for new readers.
