Years after the horrific demise of her father, Priscilla and her new husband have brought their family back to her birthplace. The house has been left vacant as stories, whispers, and innuendos run rampant about what happened all those years ago. Most believe the house to be haunted by Mary Parker and refuse to go inside. Priscilla and her husband are not giving in to those fanciful tales, and move, along with their daughter Esther into the large estate to start life fresh. Unfortunately, evil left confined to a place for too long, has time to plot and conspire. Little does Priscilla and John know the steep price they are about to pay for their return, as nothing comes without a cost in this family. The bad choices of her father are about to come to rest upon Priscilla’s shoulders and tear to shreds the happy life she has built. Her demise, unlike her father’s, though, will not be swift. The torments of her mind will live out in nightmares during her waking hours so horrific she will believe herself crazy. Though is this truly the handiwork of Mary Parker? What have they done to deserve to have their lives torn asunder in such a manner? And once the mansion has you in its grasp, is there any hope that someone is going to survive what comes next?

I loved this second book in the Before dawn series. Mary is back with a vengeance. This book is scarier than the first. You will lose sleep while reading it. I am looking forward to the next one. I received this book as an ARC and this is my honest review.
