SIX IDIOTS WITNESS A MURDER

Rate this book
Six Idiots Witness a Murder is a fast-paced, absurd comedy murder mystery that moves between the UK and the USA as it follows a group of socially awkward British IT geeks that get sent to Atlanta to solve an embarrassing computer problem at their company's American subsidiary.Once in the Georgia heat, they meet a colourful cast of locals - including a redneck who regularly gets arrested for drunkenness, a former truck driver who's not all she seems and a woman who has just been fired from her job as a receptionist due to her phobia of speaking to strangers on the telephone (and whose four cats have a greater combined IQ than she does).Between visiting phobia workshops, discussing their customers' browser histories and spending too much time in the local bars and restaurants upsetting everyone they meet, these six random idiots find themselves in the wrong place at the wrong time and witness a murder that has the local police both baffled and disinterested in equal measure. Can this bunch of disparate fools fix the computer issues that are embarrassing their company, solve the murder and escape with their lives when all they want to do is have a good time and annoy everyone they come into contact with? Six Idiots Witness a Murder is part murder mystery and part absurd comedy, wrapped up in a story of transatlantic connections and new friendships.Just don't be late to the Phobia Workshop if Vinny is attending that week.

I loved this book. It was a simple read, laugh out loud funny with excellent twists. The six idiots are a motley group thrown together when a group of English software engineers are sent to Atlanta. They are sorting out a GDPR breach when they witness the dumping of a body. This is a great summer read. As soon as I finished it, I gave it to a friend who loves Mid Summer Murders and is in sore need of a laugh. I am looking forward to the sequel.

Six Idiots Witness a Murder - Rob Hickman

Six Idiots Witness a Murder is a fast-paced, absurd comedy murder mystery that moves between the UK and the USA as it follows a group of socially awkward British IT geeks that get sent to Atlanta to solve an embarrassing computer problem at their company's American subsidiary. Once in the Georgia heat, they meet a colourful cast of locals - including a redneck who regularly gets arrested for drunkenness, a former truck driver who's not all she seems and a woman who has just been fired from her job as a receptionist due to her phobia of speaking to strangers on the telephone (and whose four cats have a greater combined IQ than she does).

This is an easy book to follow, the plot isn’t overly complicated. The book gets off to a really slow start but the pace does improve. Throughout the book, Hickman has tried to add humour to make the situation far more comical.

Unfortunately, when I was 40% into the book I was still unsure as to the concept and I considered not finishing.

If you need a laugh then this is the book for you, I am definitely glad I read this book as it is just what I needed. I found myself agreeing to quite a lot of things in this book especially about old people going out at the weekend, I am always saying why are they out now when they have all week to go out. I laughed a lot and it really cheered me up. I liked the story, the characters and it moves at a quick pace. This is book one, I can't wait till book two.
