The Fixed series is one of my all time favorites, and this book was a wonderful addition to it.
Norma had always been focused on one thing, and one thing only, her professional career. Success was her goal, but lately she has been feeling that something is missing in her life, but not even she is sure for what it is. This confusion and warring feelings makes her take a chance and make a unsuccessful advance to Hudson, her boss, thinking that maybe he can give her what she’s been searching for.
She had no idea that her decision and his rejection, would trigger all the upcoming changes, and fulfilling of all her fantasies, by the person who she never allowed herself to dream, her assistant, Boyd.

As sure as I was that I could be in love with Hudson Pierce, I was in most definite lust with Boyd Barrett.

She was incredibly attracted to him, but there were so many professional and personal reasons for which she couldn’t give in to temptation, that she had barely allowed herself to fantasize about him…

But I’d never make a move on Boyd. He was my right-hand man, even at only twenty-six years of age—a detail often overshadowed by his skills and competence. A detail that I remembered again when I truly took a moment to gaze at the smooth baby face—which he usually hid behind a pair of nerdy, dark glasses—and his young, fit body. He probably had a six-pack tucked under those layers of clothes. I bet he could go for hours…

Boyd… Boy oh boy, was that man a delicious surprise! I was in the same state of shock (even after knowing about these two from the other books of the series) as Norma when he revealed his true/complete nature and his feelings towards her.

His other half, a sexy dominant persona, reveals to us a confidence and one of the more secure of himself personalities I had the pleasure of reading left me completely open-mouthed.

“And it turns you on to top someone at the top?”
Boyd ran his tongue along my slit then answered without looking up. “It turns me on that I can give you the one and only thing you can’t give yourself.”
“What’s that?” My voice was shaky, threadbare.
“A break.”

He did, not only, expose to Norma his feelings for her, and made her acknowledge and develop hers for him, but did it by also showing her a completely new world, where pleasure and love could coexist along with her professional career.

This short story was an absolute treat, specially for The Fixed series fans, such as myself. Like so many others, I’m sure, I was intrigued by their relationship, when it was hinted in the previous books, and their power exchange would work, on the long run, but Ms. Paige, more than delivered.
It was one of the most beautifully executed stories for this trope – older woman, younger man – that I’ve ever read, specially given their professional positions. My only wish was that the story could have been longer, for us to have the chance to see in depth their relationship develop, and going into the detail of some aspects that in this length could only be touch on the surface and looked over with the time jumps. Still, given the novella length, the storyline was perfectly explained, and its success was mainly, in my opinion, due to the maturity of Boyd’s character. He was truly wise beyond his years, which, coupled with his dominant side, gifted the trope and the balance between in and outside their professional atmosphere immensely. And let’s not forget their sizzling chemistry, which combined with his sexy dominant tendencies, provide us with some OTT HOT scenes. Lordy… Hot doesn’t even cover it! Guess you have to read to find out!

By the end we truly believe that love can overcome all obstacles, and that is ok to dream in having it all, a successful career and a incredible love life. Because sometimes those dreams do come true!

“I’d be very sad to have to go. But I can live without anything except you.”

It’s a busy job being a woman at the top, and as they say, lonely. But only if you insist on always being on top.
I’m one of the lucky ones who’s learned sometimes it’s better being underneath.

"Fixed" is easily in my top 5 best trilogies featuring a Controlling Sexy Alpha.
Norma is Hudson's dynamic employee we met in the previous books. Back then she was not very likable and she had a strange kinky relationship with her trustworthy assistant, Boyd.

In this book (4.5 in the series), we exploit her relationship with the 9 years younger than her Boyd. We learn how their relationship started, how it developed, what sacrifices have been made by both of them and how the others accepted their relationship.

The book is structured in a way that it can also be read as a standalone. Although if you have not read "Fixed", I suggest you do because they are excellent books.

I really liked Boyd

-He is possessive and he is jealous without being a total bastard:
"Hudson Pierce is not the man for you",
".... each stamp to say PROPERTY OF BOYD",
"You gave me your only gift I wanted, your submission"

-He is caring
"I want to give what nobody else gives you. A break.",
«I can give you your computer if you want it. Or we can talk. Or I can listen. I can make you a bath. I can take one with you. Pretend I am not here, or use me how you need me. Whatever you want."

-He is such a playful sweetheart,
"if you want to get punished for something, I can punish you."

Norma has been always the top: Top of her class, eldest child in her family, best employee. She never has time to relax and she does not have anybody who cares for her without asking for anything back.

And then Boyd appears in her life and everything changes:

"You have loved me for quite some time, haven't you?"

I really love this book! Just excellent!

I love Hudson Pierce from The Fixed Trilogy and so you can imagine my excitement to get my hands on Falling Under You by Laurelin Paige. Well hands down no one can top my love for Hudson, but I gotta say that Ms. Paige has definitely put Boyd Barrett in the running.

#FallingUnderYou

Falling Under You was fun, sexy, sweet, and oh so lovable. I am always a sucker for office romance and to top it off Ms. Paige introduces readers to Norma Anders and her very young personal assistant, Boyd. Norma may be the boss of Boyd but it turns out, Norma needs a man to control and boss her in the bedroom and Boyd happens to be the right and only man who can fulfill that duty. When Boyd lets Norma know that he needs her submission, it awakens a new desire and sexuality in Norma. Can this powerful and independent woman submit to a younger man emotionally and sexually outside of the office?

One thing is for certain, you can always count on Laurelin Paige to deliver a hot sexy protective alpha male hero and Boyd Barrett is that and so much more. He was sweet, understanding, and yet had the dominant alpha male side. I love that Boyd made Norma see that their age difference didn’t matter to him because he already knew what he wanted in his life and that was Norma. So if you are looking for a sweet and sexy short story, then I urge you to read this book and installment to The Fixed Series.

Somehow I missed this novella by one of my absolute favorite authors. Then the stars aligned this past week and somehow a 1001 Dark Nights Bundle including said novella went on promo for FREE!!!

It was fate. The book was made for me. I had to respond to the cherub singing and egging me on to the promised land of romance greatness. LMAO

Okay, seriously...I was super excited to grab this freebie and literally stayed up into the early morning hours to read Norma and Boyd's story. Holy hotness, Batman it was so worth the wait. I enjoyed the setup, plot and nearly everything single thing about the execution. This is a real winner from Laurelin Paige. An amazing addition to one of my absolute favorite series.

There's lots of Hudson Pierce (my #1 BBF), but he doesn't overshadow the story. There's just enough of him to fan my flames of admiration and love. But Boyd is AMAZING! Whew, that boy has game for days. He's an absolute perfect fit for Norma.

Norma is a high strung, dominant, workaholic who has put herself on the back burner for so long that she's forgotten the simple pleasures in life. Boyd is the last person she expects to teach her to slow down, but unexpected treats are often the best.

Loved it!! Highly recommended to fans of the series, fans of light BDSM, and office romance.

I'm a little unsure how I feel about this one. It was sexy as hell and I loved Boyd. I didn't particularly like Norma. I just didn't like the whole dynamic of it. Boyd being 8 years younger than Norma, and being her assistant. Plus all the stuff with Hudson who came off as a total jerk in this one. The time jumps also annoyed me, along with the fact that they kept their relationship a secret for like 2.5 years. I don't know, just underwhelmed with it...

If you've read Laurelin Paige's fixes series, you already know Norma. She is the financial advisor at Pierces Industries and you've also seen her in the Free me series as Gwen's sister.
I strongly recommend to read both series before reading Falling Under You, you'll know Norma better and already have an insight of her relation with Boyd.

I was really happy when I knew Laurelin would give Norma a story even it was just small novella. I prefer her and discover her more in the Free me series. I wanted to know how a strong and powerful woman could find love. And I get more than I wanted.
“There are too many reasons why that would be a bad idea
“Yes, there are,” “Forget them.” “You can.” “You just haven’t encountered the kind of guy who can help you do it
“And you think you’re that guy?”
“I know that I am.” “Let me show you who I am. Let me show you who you are.”

Through such a small book you get all the important part in Norma & Boyd's relationship. I was septic at first and I almost didn't believe that a true relation could come out of the type of arrangement both conclude.
But Laurelin did it again! She offered me all I needed and more.

Falling Under you is an appealing story of two people who needs to find balance between work and their relationship.
Being Norma's personal assistant, Boyd wants to give relief and pleasure outside her obligations for work. There's one important rule, after hours he's the boss!

As usual Laurelin's books are extremely sensual and erotic. Our MC relation being based on Dom/Sub but still being light it was delicious and oh so well done.

To put a cherry on the cake, Laurelin gives us a glimpse of Chandler's book if I didn't want this book so bad already ^^
“And it turns you on to top someone at the top?”
Boyd ran his tongue along my slit then answered without looking up.
“It turns me on that I can give you the one and only thing you can’t give yourself.”
“What’s that?” My voice was shaky, threadbare.
“A break.”

Eh. I dunno how to make up on this one.

For starter, this is an attempt to BDSM. h is the boss, H is the subordinate. H offered h something way beyond h’s comfort zone – submission. H is younger than h. More like an 8-year gap. But they agreed to have a 360 when it comes to sex. h is a serious chief financial advisor and too independent while H is one of the heirs to his father’s fortune but chose to be an employee rather than the employer.

It was a good story, but I wasn’t able to connect to the characters maybe because I don’t believe in such.

Eh. Blindly rating it 4-star because it was well-written. Again, it’s me, not the book.

I read the Fixed trilogy so long ago that I didn't recall off the top of my head who the characters were. Once I dived in a light bulb went off!!

Norma is Hudson's powerful employee that helps run his enterprise. I remember not liking her much in his books.

Boyd is her younger assistant and there is a pesky no fraternization rule in the company.

Norma has never really noticed Boyd that way until all of a sudden he makes his intentions known. She's used to having the power and he thinks she should give it to him in the bedroom.

Holy hell this book was hot! I loved their interactions. They were very sweet and steamy. The perfect balance of both. He really wanted to take care of her and that made me swoon multiple times.

I'm giving this one 4 stars instead of 5 because it glosses over many aspects of their relationship. It's a novella that covers almost 3 years of their life. I would have loved to see more of their every life.

Falling Under You was very different from what I expected! Instantly, I was transported back into the world of Pierce Industries. But following the story of Norma and Boyd!

Norma and Boyd have a very unique and complicated relationship. How can two people, whom have worked so closely together, navigate a romantic relationship with each other when it's against company policy? And when put to the ultimate test, what's more important: a successful career or the love of your life?

This book really changes up the roles of dominant and submissive. Norma may be the boss in the boardroom, but Boyd is her boss in the bedroom! The passion and uncovered desires scorch the pages, as the story is a strong mix of boss/employee, dom/sub, older woman/younger man...and each blend together perfectly! I loved how the author didn't waste time on over-descriptions of scenes, and just got straight to the point. It's the perfect story for a novella!

I seriously need to dive into the whole Dark Nights Series.

Falling Under You was a really cute smutty novella. In it, you will meet Norma and Boyd. He's his boss (sort of) and he's her assistant (in more than one way). Their romance was unexpected in a forbidden work place kind of way. I didn't know I needed these two until after I started it.

Norma thought she had a crush on another co-worker but Boyd came in and showed her the light. They were really cute together and of course things started to heat up rather quickly. They had instant chemistry and sparks galore. I seriously enjoyed the crap out of this book - I just wished it was longer!

Overall, the ending was rather cute and I'm glad that they didn't let anyone break them up - even their own workplace.

Learning how to let go...

Norma has been in control of every aspect of her life for as long as she can remember. When her parents died, she took on the parental role to her two siblings, Gwen, and Ben. It's been far from plain sailing but she has dedicated a huge chunk of her life to taking care of others. Very career-orientated, she has risen through the ranks to become Hudson Pierce's trusted No. 2.

Feeling somewhat unfulfilled, she decides to indulge her lengthy crush on her boss, and she makes a pass at him, which he rejects. She is up on the roof, trying to deal with the burning humiliation when her assistant Boyd finds her and makes her an offer she can't refuse.

Boyd and Norma's professional relationship is superb and they both highly respect the other. Now, things are about to get personal and the roles are reversing. Norma has to allow Boyd to take the reins in their personal relationship while she abides by his rules and his commands. It is difficult for someone like Norma to fully let go and let someone else take charge. But she needs it, and she deserves it. After years of looking after others, it's time for someone to look after her.

Boyd was a sweetheart even though he was a sexual deviant who loved pushing both their boundaries. I only wish we had been given more opportunity to fully understand him in his own right. He was quite mysterious and I would have enjoyed delving into his backstory in order to properly understand what drew him to Norma.

Their developing relationship was a mix of romance and sex and it was very well written. The struggle for control was an ongoing battle but one they overcame in the end.

I've worked in the corporate world for years and I have to admit to being quite skeptical at the start about their relationship. I found it difficult to fully accept that such a career-driven woman with control issues would so readily drop her panties for her assistant, but, hey, it's fiction, so I just let those concerns wash over me and enjoy the story for what it is. A sort of sexual coming of age story that turned into a sweet, caring relationship that evolved into a blissful forever.

I really liked Norma, and having read the Fixed and Found trilogies, I was intrigued to know her story. She has always come across as a bit strict and too serious, so it was nice to get under the hood and find out what made her tick. I could relate to her work ethic, and her like of control in the workplace, and her strong desire to take care of others. It was nice to see her taking a backseat and letting Boyd set the pace in their relationship. I also enjoyed how she stood up to Hudson at the end and was prepared to sacrifice everything for her lover.

I think this would have worked better if it had been a full-length novel, as I felt it skimmed too much, and we never really got to see how their relationship developed. We were told rather than show and that was a little disappointing. The ending was very rushed, and I didn't like the epilogue - I felt very disconnected from the future we were presented with. Again, if the story had been fleshed out better then this wouldn't have been such a stretch.

Overall, though, this was a great short read, and a good addition to the series. While it isn't essential to have read either the Fixed or Found series, I would recommend it as both are excellent series! I would recommend this to fans of Laurelin Paige or those who want a well-written quick read.

This Novella was much more then I was expecting. I was expecting a sweet, sassy, sexy read, and while it was all of those things, it was much much more. Norma is the kind of girl I can relate it. She gives all of herself to her work and family and has nothing left of herself to grasp onto. Feeling emotionally spent, the book opens with her reeling after attempting to kiss her boss, the one and only Hudson Pierce. I mean can we blame her? ...sigh Again, I can totally relate to this girl. Norma is a strong, independent, confident, girl. She has a dark past but a bright future. While every aspect of her life is meticulously put together there is something missing.

Enter Boyd, her assistant. Undeniably sexy, he has no problem taking orders from Norma at work, but he has a very dominant confidence about him. The attraction between them is strong and so the question is asked... They know that Norma can give orders at work, and that dynamic between them works so well, but will Norma let down her guard and allow Boyd to give the orders in the bedroom? And if so, could how could that relationship play out.

Its kind of amazing to watch as Norma slowly lets go of control, steps out of her comfort zone and lets Boyd take the lead. This story quickly goes from being a steamy office romance, to being a deeper story of love and trust. I enjoyed it very much.

So this story is about Norma and Boyd, the characters I don't really pay attention to, and truth to be told, I don't even care.
I don't like Norma to begin with. So why the hell did I read this book? LOL

Mostly just because I want to know what happened to Hudson and Alayna before I read the next installment of this series, Chandler.
I read Fixed series long long time ago that I've already forgotten about the story and that Hudson and Alayna are married with a daughter already now.
That's why I decided to read this novella because I got a little lost when I try to read Chandler.

As I said earlier, I don't really like Norma. And what makes me don't like her even more in this book is that, she's in lust with her TOO MUCH YOUNGER assistant.
I don't like it when the heroine is a cougar. I just don't.

I mostly just skimmed through the book because I don't really like the characters.
I was just hoping that this novella would enlighten me because I kinda lost when I tried reading Chandler.
But unfortunately, this novella has nothing to do with the previous installment (Hudson), and the next installment (Chandler).

I feel like I just waste my time reading this. LOL

But maybe it's just me who doesn't enjoy this book because I just really don't like it when a heroine is so much older than the hero. I mean, 8 years difference for fuck's sake!
Well, I know age doesn't matter in love, but still. I don't mind if the hero is older though.

If you have no problem with the older heroine, I think you'll enjoy this book just fine.
So please don't let my review discourages you to read this book :)

I Almost Didn't

4 Stars

I almost didn't read this. In fact, after reading Gwen's duet was thinking about giving up on the rest of the series and its spinoffs.
Now I'm glad I didn't do that.

Norma and Boyd were a breath of fresh air. Mature in thoughts and actions.

The sex scenes were HOT and the intimacy between these two was potent.

Flowed really well and the pace was well set.

I VERY much enjoyed it.

I was excited to read about Norma and Boyd. We already know pretty much where they end up because of the prior books, but it was good to see where they were. My biggest reason for keeping this from being 5 stars, was how long it took them to get to the relationship. This was a short book and that part dragged on until half way through chapter 7. Um, there is only 10 chapters. So it was super frustrating. Once they got together, it was on speed dial and everything else was rushed. I would've loved the opposite for this one.

Falling Under You was a good story to read. It was sexy and romantic and despite it being a short novella, it had an interesting plot. I was expecting this book since I finished reading the Found Duet , I wanted to know what was the background story of Norma & Boyd’s romance. And I was pleased with what I read.

Norma is Hudson’s right hand and just like it happened to me with Gwen, I kinda hated her when I read The Fixed Series . But she is also Gwen’s big sister, so when I read The Found Duet , I got to know her better and I ended up loving her. And Boyd is Norma’s super sexy and super young assistant. So if you read those series, you know Norma and Boyd have a secret affair, and that they’ve been together for a while, but the dynamics of their relationship is unknown to everyone. This novella reveals it all. The kink, the romance, the love, the friendship, the exchange of powers. Everything. And it is a good dynamic, it’s not so typical, since they are employer and employee, and she’s a very dominant woman in her life, but with Boyd she has the opportunity to be a very different person, one person she never thought she could be, have very difficulty to accept and at the end, loved so much. Boyd had a lot to do with the process Norma went through and of course, it wasn’t easy for him either.

All in all, Falling Under You was a very sexy and lovely novella. I’m passing through a phase in my taste for books that when there is so much sex, I feel like skipping pages and sadly that happened to me when I was reading Falling Under You . Don’t get me wrong, the sex, the kink and their relationship was super hot and all, but... to me, it felt it oversexed. But, Hey! Maybe that is what you are expecting in this novella! So, go read it and tell me what you think about it.

Hudson Pierce was one of my first alpha loves so I went into this book thinking that no one from The Fixed Trilogy could top him. It's Hudson for crying out loud! So there I am, jumping into this novella thinking that this would be fun and might possibly give me a little bit of a Hudson fix. I couldn't have been more wrong about it.

Norma Anders is the Chief Financial Officer for Pierce Industries. She's been Hudson Pierce's right hand woman. She's intelligent, loyal and fiercely independent. Yet, there's something in her life that has been missing. What she wants is someone to take control in the bedroom. Thinking that Hudson is the dominant personality that she needs, she makes advances at him. Only to be turned down. What she didn't know is that Boyd, her personal assistant has had his eye on her for a while now and he might possibly know what she needs.

Let me start with this. BOYD IS HOT! Seriously hot. When he comes at Norma with that authorative voice and barks out commands, I'm almost doing what he says myself. He seems to know exactly what Norma needs, finding the perfect balance between their working relationship and their personal relationship. Norma is getting the best of both worlds! She gets to be the strong independent woman at work and have a dominant man in her bed.

"You're a totally different person from the one I know at the office. It's like you wear your glasses and you're one guy. Take them off and you turn into this." "I assure you they're both the same person. They guy who puts the contracts on your desk and screens your phone calls thinks about you makes as intensely as I'm thinking about it right now."

Yep, fanning myself here. It's not that his words are dirty. There's just something about him that has the perfect balance of business nerdy and sexually dominant.

The only reason I didn't give it the full 5 stars was because I'm extremely greedy and needed more from them. Since it is a novella, their time frame was over a course of several years and I just wanted more from them.

I am not usually all that fond of novellas, as I think they go to insta-love and have no story to speak of. I should have known, if anyone can pull off a novella and make it great, it would be Laurelin Paige. And, she did. And it is great, and I loved it. And, I wanted more. But, I usually want an epilogue AFTER the epilogue, so me wanting more is nothing new.

Boyd (BOYD!!!) and Norma are so great together, and from the very beginning you get the sense that there is more to them getting together than him just wanting her on a temporary basis. He's too careful, he's too controlled (ok, that is kind of his thing), he's too invested in making sure that she is on board with what he needs from her for them to have a relationship. And, she is. So, when she finally realizes that he has been in love with her for a while now, Norma is pretty much the only person for whom that is news.

I loved the twist with why he chose to work for Norma, I will not give it away here, but I absolutely loved it. I liked that he was younger, I liked that he respected what she did for a living and was ok that she was not only successful, but also his boss.

I liked the time jumps, which I usually don't, but in this case they worked. Yes, it left me with a story that did not feel as deep as some of her other books, but it is a novella, so you know that going in...and what you got from this was a great story, great characters, and a little glimpse of Hudson before the Fixed stories...not a lot, but a little, and that was all sorts of fun. We like Hudson. And Boyd.

It was great to revisit the Fixed world for a bit, to get a little more of other people's stories in that world. And, Norma and Boyd were just plain fun. And hot...

The men at Pierce Industries...do you suppose that company is hiring? :)

5 I’LL GIVE YOU FOREVER STARS!!!

I was so excited to hear that Norma and Boyd from the Fixed Series were getting their own story! I knew it would be HOTTER THAN HELL but I didn’t expect it hit me in the feels! Every single one of them! Yes! Yes! Yes!

This story was sexy, sweet, funny and emotional! Oh my goodness! I’m in LOVE with these two! Norma and Boyd’s love journey had me cheering for them throughout the entire book. Actually, i’ve been cheering for them the moment I realized they were a “thing” in the Fixed Series. I needed more of them like...RIGHT NOW.

Boyd is kind, loyal and commanding. And HELLA hot! Whew. Those glasses. Those abs. That tousled hair. RAWR. Put that whole package in a suit. Oh. God. YES. He had me panting like a horny bitch in heat. Norma is a woman I can respect, she does what’s best for others, always giving, never taking. She’s a such a generous soul. I love her to death! Boyd shows her how to let go and give herself a break. And that just made me fall even more for this amazing man. So when their MOMENT happens, I swear I felt electrified. I was burning. Hot. On fire. I melted into a puddle of lust for these two! Their sexy times were not just hot but beautifully emotional, and that’s why I love this story so much!

This novella is a sexy little number that packs a punch right to the g spot! Laurelin NEVER fails to disappoint. Falling Under You is so eloquently written I was captivated from start to finish. It’s just simply a beautiful story that I felt deep in my bones. I never wanted it to end! I hope to see a little bit more of Norma and Boyd in the future.

4.5 Power Shifting Stars

Norma Anders has worked at Pierce Industries for several years and has made herself indispensable as Hudson Pierce's CFO. One evening at yet another after-hours business engagement she is obligated to attend, she finally decides to act on the long-term crush she has had on her boss and corners Hudson away from the crowd and kisses him. When he doesn't return her kiss, she pulls back to hear him say, "You don't want what I have to give." Norma flees to the roof completely humiliated where she encounters her assistant Boyd - the best one she has ever had, though he is male, hot, and 9 years her junior - where he offers an ear to listen to her concerns. When she confesses that she made a move on someone she has had a thing for a person who is unattainable, he tells her he can relate to that feeling. And when he forces her to look into his eyes, she realizes that her all business at work assistant is talking about her! But there is no way she can start anything with him no matter how tempting. Fraternization is against company policy, especially where there is a power differential in place as she is Boyd's boss! And she doesn't want him to move to another executive because he is by far the best assistant she has ever had.

Boyd Barrett grew up with money, so he has a trust fund, but he saw the toll all the work his parents did took on them as they both passed away while only in their fifties. He has decided that he wants to work, but only at a job where he can be on from 9-5 and then leave it at work to live his life beyond those walls. He has had a thing for his incredibly sexy boss for awhile, but he has bided his time in making his move until he felt the timing was right. When Norma confides in him that she made a pass at Hudson that was rebuffed, he knows she is just the right level of open and vulnerable to suggestion, so he goes for it. But Boyd doesn't just want a one night fling or even what many consider to be a traditional relationship: he likes to be in charge in the bedroom. He knows that Norma relishes her role as boss at work, but he has a feeling she would like to pass that control elsewhere, and he believes he is the perfect man to take it from her. But she has to surrender first, and while he is a patient man, she is taking longer than he expected to completely pass the reins.

Norma is shocked when Boyd proposes a power shift outside of the office walls - is it even possible for someone so in control of every aspect of life since she was a young girl to just let go? She has to admit the idea holds appeal, but can she truly surrender to Boyd, and if so, how will this impact their work life and their future?

What I liked:
--- This book took off quickly!
--- The main characters were very likeable and I definitely found myself rooting for them
--- Interesting to see Hudson from an outside view (I read the first 4 books in the Fixed series before I read this one, which I definitely recommend even though this book could be considered a standalone)
--- HOLY STEAMY GOODNESS BATMAN!

What I didn't like as much:
--- Not much! I was a little frustrated with Norma at times, but I felt like she remained true to her character and the way someone would have likely reacted in her shoes

Overall, really good novella supplement to the Fixed series that I enjoyed tremendously and devoured in one sitting!

Plot --- 4.5/5
Main Characters --- 4.5/5
Supporting Cast --- 4/5
Steam Level* --- 4.5/5 (mild BDSM elements, specifically bondage)
Violence --- none
Language --- liberal use of the f word
POV --- 1st (Norma's)

*Note that steam level is not a rating so much as a how hot was it: 0/5 - clean; 1/5 - mild; 2/5 - sensual but nothing descriptive; 3/5 - now we're getting somewhere; 4/5 - yes please! ; 5/5 - they did EVERYTHING in this one, y'all

quote

Since I've read Forever with You I wanted to know exactly what happened between Norma and her hot younger assistant, Boyd. I was intrigued by their age difference along with their unique position and I was pretty curious how could their liaison play out. I'm happy to admit that I craved the intimate details. ;)
"Let me you show you who I am. Let me show you who you are."
So of course I hoped a steamy office romance and that's exactly what Miss Paige delivered with this novella. I enjoyed the slow seduction as well as the secret, forbidden affair thing however my favorit part was when Boyd's romantic side took action. I loved that he was so patient to claim Norma's heart and he really wanted to take care of her.
Despite the book is short it covers almost three years therefore the story moves quickly, now and then skips a bigger period of time like it just highlights the most important episodes of the couple's life. I think it would have been nice to get a deeper look in the characters also to see more details from the development of their relationship.
Beyond that Falling Under You was a great combination of sweet romance and scorching passion. In addition it can be read as a stand alone without any difficulty.

My favorite quote:
"Truth was, one of the reasons I loved being praised so much was because I alwas secretly feared that I was a failure. That I hadn’t done enough. That I wasn’t enough."

I'm not AT ALL surprised that I LOVED every single thing about this sexy novella! Favorite author + favorite series = FREAKING HEAVEN! I cannot wipe the HUGE GRIN off of my face! Perfection my friends...absolute PERFECTION!

I was SO excited to hear that we were going to get Norma's HEA! You may or may not remember her from the Fixed Trilogy. Even though I can't recommend the Fixed Series by Laurelin Paige enough, and I think you should absolutely DROP EVERYTHING and start at the beginning, you do not need to read it before FALLING UNDER YOU. This can be read as a standalone. If you're new to Paige's work, MY GOD what is wrong with you? LOL, I'm just playin'! But if you are, FALLING UNDER YOU will give you just a taste of how FANTASTIC this author's writing is. It's seductive, passionate, emotional, and sexy as hell. Once you start a Laurelin Paige book, there is NO putting it down. You will be in it for the long haul and nothing will stand in your way.

I really really REALLY loved the dynamic between Norma and Boyd. Norma always had the power in the office, but in the bedroom her cravings are a little different. Boyd comes at her like cat on the prowl, giving her just a taste of what it could be like to give up control behind closed doors. She eventually surrenders, but only after Boyd shows her the type of pleasure she has never known.

FALLING UNDER YOU read super fast and was super sensual. I only wish we had more time with this power couple. Steamy, sexy, and sensual to the max, this is an office romance you won't want to miss!

Norma Anders is a woman who is always in control. But she is tired of always being "in control" and when her assistant, Boyd, shows her a glimpse of what it's like to give him control, he sets her on fire. He is everything she needs, but he is younger and her employee, and she should say no. Oh, but some temptation is impossible to resist.

The slow seduction and sensuality in this story is delicious. I loved how Boyd slowly broke down the walls Norma had put up. He didn't just seduce her, he romanced her, he gave her everything she didn't even know she needed. This is just a beautiful, sexy, and sweet story. I absolutely love an older woman/younger man story, they really melt my butter, and this one melted all the butter! I don't say this about many books, but I really wish this one had been longer!

After having loved every single book within the Fixed Series universe by Laurelin Paige, I was more than ready to get more of Boyd and Norma's story. I have always wanted and needed more of those two, and have always been curious as to how they came together and what their relationship was like. Falling Under You gave me the phenomenal opportunity to see how things took that initial turn for the, how their relationship progressed, and just how far those two were willing to go in order to be with one another.

Filled to the brim with heat, passion, and a connection that just couldn't be fought or denied, Falling Under You lets you experience the power, the intensity, and the enormity of what Boyd and Norma share. It lets you fall right along with them, and through every moment you get with them, the more you realize how right these two are for one another, and how much they need to be together. What Norma and Boyd share is raw, full of heat and connection and a pull that can't be fought, and in the end their story is one of control and power and love and the amazing, unadulterated, all-feeling, and life changing things that can happen when you combine all 3.

This novella was full of Norma and Boyd and what makes them so distinctive and amazing. Add to that Laurelin Paige's phenomenal writing that weaves together a story full of feels, meaning, and spark, and you have yourself one must read novella. This was a quick read too, yet it didn't gloss over anything. It gave me Norma and Boyd, full force, and it allowed me to go along with them as they tried to figure out what they could do to be together and what exactly that might mean for them. Their story was emotional, it was full of a spark that was distinctive to Norma and Boyd and all that they felt for each other, and it was bursting with heart and feels and this literal pull that kept me hooked in the entire time.

Now while this could technically be read as a standalone, I would recommend reading the other books in this series first, just so you really get the full impact of this novella. Also, all of Laurelin Paige's books are amazing, so you need to read them. Stat.

The events of Falling Under You take place over an extended period of time and show you just how Norma and Boyd come to be, how their relationship progresses and goes through so many events that will pull at your heart and simultaneously make you blush, and what happens when things for these two start getting very real and very permanent. This story allows you to see and experience Norma and Boyd through many events that will test them, their feelings for one another, and that will show just how far they are willing to go in order to be with one another.

What I loved about Falling Under You was that I got to see Norma and Boyd through so many different points in their relationship. I was there when things first took that turn into something more, I was there through every heart melting moment of exploration those two shared as they began their relationship, I went through every hurdle and twist and turn that came their way, and I was in it all, heart first experiencing every ounce of what those two had to offer on their journey with each other. Laurelin Paige put me in this book with them, and I loved it. I loved what I felt with them, I loved getting to see those two fight with all they had for one another, and I loved being there with them both as things started to change, and as they both realized how in it they really were.

I especially loved getting to know more about Norma and Boyd in this story. Falling Under You allowed me to understand so much about them, their relationship, and the unforgettable dynamic that they shared. Norma and Boyd definitely share something that you won't soon forget, and every moment with them in this book solidified that idea in my mind even more.

Norma is one fierce woman. Top of her game, smart as hell, and she loves control. She gets off on it, except in the bedroom...that's where she wants someone else to take over, and she's been struggling to find someone who can give her exactly what she needs. Norma is her own force to be reckoned with, and she is not wilting flower, but when things with Boyd start getting very real, very heated, and full of much more than she ever expected, Norma will soon learn what it actually means to give someone that control. Throughout this story, Norma starts to see what giving up that control can be like, and how giving it up to Boyd means that much more, and through it all you get to experience the presence of that woman, and let me tell you something...Norma is the best.

Now Boyd's character is one that I have always been intrigued by, and getting more of him in this novella was everything. That man is genuine, kind, and the power and strength behind the presence he has will blow you away, just like it does Norma. What I loved about Boyd was that he wasn't afraid to push himself or Norma in the way that they both needed to be pushed. He wasn't afraid to go there, to be honest, and to put it all out there on the line, and that sent my heart right to him. It also kind of helped that that man could make me melt in more ways than one, and that with each new moment I got with him, the more I fell for everything he was about. Boyd is endearing, his own force to be reckoned with, and experiencing his care and affection for Norma as he tried to show her what they could have together was phenomenal in every way.

Simply put, this novella is damn good. It's intense, it's full of meaning and feels, and it gives you a story of the amazing, life changing, and all-feeling things that can happen when you give up control and end up in the exact place, and with the exact person, you need to be. This story was everything I needed and wanted with Boyd and Norma and I couldn't have asked for more with them. I felt their story, I lived it, and I loved every word of it, and honestly I just want to thank Laurelin Paige for giving me the chance to enjoy it.

If you've loved this series as much as I have, then this is a must read...and if you've yet to start it, then what are you waiting for? Run yourself to these books, and to Norma and Boyd. They're the best!

Blurb:

Norma Anders has always prided herself on her intelligence and determination. She climbed out of poverty, put herself through school and is now a chief financial advisor at Pierce Industries. She’s certainly a woman who won’t be topped. Not in business anyway.

But she’s pretty sure she’d like to be topped in the bedroom.

Unfortunately most men see independence and ambition in a woman and they run. Even her dominant boss, Hudson Pierce has turned down her advances, leaving her to fear that she will never find the lover she’s longing for.

Then the most unlikely candidate steps up. Boyd, her much-too-young and oh-so-hot assistant surprises her one night with bold suggestions and an authoritative demeanor he’s never shown her in the office.

It’s a bad idea…such a deliciously bad idea…but when Boyd takes the reins and leads her to sensual bliss she’s never known, the headstrong Norma can’t help but fall under his command.

Review:
Excuse me while I wipe the drool off my face after reading this latest addition to the 1001 Dark Nights series. I honestly can't remember if I've had the chance to read any of Laurelin Paige's books before now and after today, I realize that I've been living under a rock - or at least that's the feeling I had when I finished the last page. Laureline Paige's Falling Under You is part of the Fixed trilogy and follows Norma, an independent, strong and dominant business woman, looking for the man who will be able to take away all the worries and responsibilities that are thrown her way in her high demanding work, what she hadn't expected was that the dominating men would continuously disappoint her until her assistant Boyd shows her exactly what it is she has been craving. The one man Norma had considered as off limits due to certain office policies and his demeanour has managed to completely throw her off as he shows her that he can and will take her as a dominant, taking nothing less than her submission. If there's one thing I can say about this book or even summarize in as little words as possible, it's as simple as 'Wow' and 'Oh. My. Gawd.' The page turner aspect that kept me awake until much too late when I know I should have gone to bed hours ago, was ever present in the many ways that Laurelin Paige has managed to continuously surprise me at every turn and when I least expected it. Obviously, I loved Falling Under You as not only an addition to the 1001 Dark Nights line up, but now I find myself having to add another series that I can't pass up and I absolutely need to finish to find out what happens. One thing is certain - Laurelin Paige is one author that I'll be following very closely from now on.

•••••••••

REVIEW: 3.75 stars--FALLING UNDER YOU (Fixed 4.5) by Laurelin Paige is an adult, contemporary, erotic romance novella found in the world of 1001 Dark Nights multi-authored series. This is chief financial advisor at Pierce Industries Norma Anders, and PA Boyd Barrett’s story line. FALLING UNDER YOU runs parallel to the events in Laurelin’s FIXED series, and the FOUND DUET, and can be read as a stand alone without any difficulty. Any important information from the previous series is revealed where necessary. FALLING UNDER YOU covers approximately 2-3 years in story line time.

Told from first person point of view (Norma) FALLING UNDER YOU is an erotic story line that focuses on a forbidden romance between office colleagues-a romance predicated on Domination and submission. Norma Anders is a successful business woman; a take charge CFA for Pierce Industries, and a woman who has fallen for her boss Pierce Hudson. Enter Boyd Barrett, Norma’s PA, and the man who will take charge and dominate Norma in the bedroom and in love. What ensues is a ‘secret affair’ between Norma and Boyd- a relationship that finds our heroine submitting to a man she ‘dominates’ at work.

FALLING UNDER is a story line that crosses over between Laurelin’s FIXED trilogy, and her FOUND DUET. Norma is Gwen’s sister (Found Duet), and is in desperate need of stepping back from her life. Throughout the original series the author hints at Norma’s possible relationship with Boyd, but we are never privy to the intimate details or the nature of the D/s exchange. At times, the story line advances several months in which we do not have access to the building relationship and in this I struggled with the lack of details as to their building love-for all intents and purposes, the story focused on the D/s exchange skipping most everything else in their personal lives. The premise is entertaining and provocative; the characters are captivating and charismatic; the romance is seductive, erotic and intense. If you are a fan of Paige’s FIXED TRILOGY and the FOUND DUET, FALLING UNDER YOU should not be missed.

What I love most about Laurelin Paige’s Fixed series is that she creates such dynamic characters – hero and heroines who have multiple layers to their personalities that can only be peeled away and shown to the people who understand these characters the most, and in Falling Under You, Paige’s most recent addition to the series, she has once again proven how multifaceted her characters are.

On paper, Norma Anders and Boyd Barrett are not a good match. Norma has a dominate personality while Boyd is her “quiet, subservient” assistant, but all it takes is one moment of vulnerability – one moment where Norma yearns to stop thinking and to let go - for Boyd to demonstrate the strong, controlling man within – the man who wants to own and dominate Norma, not in her domain at the office, but in the bedroom because as Boyd expertly displays from the beginning of their sexual encounters is the fact that he knows exactly what she needs.

There’s definitely a learning curve to Boyd’s domination of a dominant; Norma is used to always being in control and working through each and every scenario like she does at work, but that’s not what Boyd is offering…that’s not what Norma needs eithers, so their power struggle takes a bit to find a balance, but once Norma truly understands what Boyd is giving to her, she realizes that giving up power and receiving praise is exactly what she needs to be able to take a break and allow someone to take care of her for once…to put her wants and needs ahead of everyone else…to prove to her that she doesn’t always have to hold the reins or think for that matter because Boyd shows her who she truly is and what she truly needs to be complete.

Boyd Barrett is one hot as hell dominant. He’s definitely a giver and knows exactly how to manipulate a woman’s body in order for her to feel the optimum amount of pleasure. I love the two roles that Boyd plays in Norma’s life because he does both so easily, which provides Norma with a sense of calm that she hasn’t felt since before her mother’s death. Boyd is as upfront and candid as he can be with Norma about what he wants out of their intimate relationship, but he doesn’t rush her, which both frustrates and intrigues her. Boyd does everything right in his quest to claim not only Norma’s body but also her heart and I loved watching Norma growl in frustration and purr in ecstasy, reaffirming that Boyd, despite his age and workplace demeanor, is the perfect man for Norma and her needs.

Laurelin Paige is one of my favorite authors because I become instantly enthralled with her carefully crafted world and the multifaceted nature of her characters. Paige definitely knows how to bring the steam as well, adding in sexy encounters that illustrate the connection of the characters as well as shift and balance in power that occurs between the couple.

And, after getting a preview of Chandler’s book at the end of Falling Under You, I can’t wait to see what Paige has in store for the youngest Pierce.
