Such a cute and romantic story. Only thing I disliked throughout it was the mother of Jace. Jeez that woman is a piece of work. Thankfully his dad makes up for it all. But anywho... The plot was great and the romance when it got down to it was off the charts. Both main characters are strong and this story ties everything up pretty nicely.
Jace can't wait to get out from under his mom's thumb. But what he really needs to do is figure out a way to make Holly see that he made a huge colossal mess that fated night so long ago. He should of stood up for himself in front of his then girlfriend and his mother. But that's all in the past and he needs to put a plan together to make Holly talk to him once more. Can he get her to see that he made a mistake and will do anything to get her back...
Jace can't wait to get out from under his mom's thumb. But what he really needs to do is figure out a way to make Holly see that he made a huge colossal mess that fated night so long ago. This was a cute story and I would have rated four stars but there were many inconsistencies. Normally I can overlook a few issues within the story however because there were so many I found myself backtracking to see if I missed some thing. Even mentions from the first book in the series was presented differently in this one. But as I said, if I overlooked that issue I would’ve rated four stars because it was a lovely story overall.
Just another little note, the hero in this book is ex-military he is not a cowboy. I’m not sure why the author named this book “The Cowbear’s Second Chance.”

If you like Shifter Romances, you'll love Holly and Jace's story. This the second book in the Huckleberry Valley Shifters series but is read as a standalone. You'll recognize lots of characters from book one. A good story that is well-written with strong well-liked characters. I read an advanced reader copy and voluntarily chose to write a review.

The Cowbears Second Chance Romance by Liv Brywood is an emotional,intriguing and steamy romance story of Jace and Holly.Jace is a bear shifter, a former marine and from the wealthy family in Huckleberry Valley but when he got injured in the war he went home but broken, almost paralysed when hes spine got injured..Holly a succesful physical therapist and from the wrong side of the tracks but it didnt deter her and persivere to finish her study to be a succesful but shes lonely and still heartbroken..Jace and Holly been secretly dating in their highschool days jace doesnt want his parent to know because they not going to approave it specially his mother,Holly is sneaking to jace room in the middle of the night, but one night his mother have a girl in their place and told him to bring her to his room but he knows Holly is their,so when he open his room Holly is their in his bed and both woman got the shocked of their life and his mother came to look what happened and so Holly and when she asked him what Hollys doing in his room,he denied that their together and he saw hollys eyed the betrayal hed made and she went home,unbeknownst to him his mother give Holly a check for her to leave Jace but she didnt accept the check and wripped it off. from there she didnt talk and doesnt want to see him,he broke her heart and betrayed her mate or not

Book 2 of 2 Completes a Romantic Small Town Series
A great second chance romance written by Liv Brywood. I liked the premise of the storyline as well as the characters. I love when the main characters, Jace, former Marine trying to regain the use of his legs and his work is turning out successful. Also, Holly a Physical Therapist and Jace’s former girlfriend from ten years ago. They broke up due to Jace’s mother who was an evil woman then and continues to be one now.
They are brought back together due to each other’s best friends getting married and they are to serve as Best Man and Maid of Honor.
So this venue helps them begin talking about the past and present and can they move forward. Can they?
Overall it’s a good book as was the series. Both involved Vets who have comeback changed...one psychological and one physical. I admire that included in the storyline. I wish there had been a few more shifting, there were two. But that’s my personal preference and does not stop me from recommending the book for your reading enjoyment.

This is the second book in this fun series and I enjoyed it just as much as I did the first book. Jace and Holly have history and it will take a lot for them to have a future together
Jace has finally returned to Huckleberry valley after serving as a marine a injury has left him partially paralysed and in a wheel chair bur he is determined to claim his mate He and Holly where schoolyard sweethearts but he kept her a secret as he was from a wealthy family and she was from a poor family with a disabled father things came to a head when she snuck into his room and waited naked and was humiliated when he brought the girl his family had picked for him into the same room. Shortly after he left for the marines and they have never spoken since But he has realised that she is in fact his mate and he is determined to claim her the only problem is she won't allow herself to be a secret this time. Meanwhile she may be able to help him walk again a thing he is determined to do because she is a physical therapist.

Really good
Holly was poor from a trailer park growing up but had worked hard and was now a physical therapist. Jace was from a really rich family and his mother looked down on anyone not rich. As teenagers they had been in love until his mother found her in his bed and he betrayed her by saying he didn't know why she was in there. She not only called her a lot of bad names but told her she wasn't good enough for her son and handed her a check to pay her not to see him anymore. Holly destroyed it but never forgave Jace for his betrayal now years later his best friend is marrying her best friend and they are maid of honor and best man and are having to help plan the wedding together. Things start coming out as they finally face their feelings and he convinces her that he won't betray her again. It helps when they discover his father was not part of his mother's hate filled ways. His father helps work things out so he can convince Holly as he welcomes her and her family into his home for Christmas dinner.

This is Book 2 of the Huckleberry Valley Shifters Series. This is a standalone book but beloved characters from the first book (The Cowbear's Fated Mate) appear in this book and will, in all likelihood, be found in future books by Liv Brywood (loved this characteristic of my favorite authors). Best friends to the bride and to the groom, now maid of honor and best man, have a history. Time passing and change happening, an extreme injury to one. I alternated between wanting to reach out to hug the couple and reach out to slap someone upside the head for being so foolish, hesitant . . . . In addition to wanting beat at on several characters. The detail, the connections, the tapestry. Love the family found within the pages, family by choice as well as by blood. Bravo!! Looking forward to the next book of the series.

Book 2 in Huckleberry Valley shifter by Liv Brywood
Jace is a injured service man that had ended up in a wheelchair and told he might not walk again but because he comes from a rich family he gets fantastic help to regain his legs.
Holly is a physio therapist in Huckleberry valley but she came from a trailer park with both parents on disability and struggling to pay bills but won’t let their daughter help.
When they were love struck teenagers they secretly dated until they were caught by his mother and instead of admitting to their relationship he denied her broke her heart.
Now he’s return home to start his life but also try and get his mate back.
I loved this book but mostly because it had a disabled main character. I do feel there needs to be more representation of not just physical disabilities but learning disabilities too. I’m dyslexic and rarely every read a character with these things.

Jace's redemption
I didn't catch the first book in the Huckleberry Valley Shifters series but it didn't take away from me getting into this story in the series. I believe I met the first couple in this book because a lot of the side characters played a substantial part in this story. This second chance romance was very intense and emotional with a lot of would/should/could haves from beginning til end. It had a lot of interesting elements that kept me going back and I just had to finish it...just had to know if Jace and Holly will overcome their financial differences, hateful mother in their business and trust issues to get back to how they were long ago... in love and potential mates. Well this is a romance and everything ends well and the couple do have a wonderful HEA. The best thing I enjoyed in this book was Holly's parents...they were a hoot!

About 10 years later - Jace returned from the war, a hero, but paralyzed with little chance of recovering. Due to a wedding of common friends Holly is forced to work with Jace for the wedding preparations - and this is his chance to show her he has changed.
A nice story, believable - it does not need the shifter background to be a good story, but it adds a nice extra layer to the story.

I love reading anything from Liv. Her characters are quirky yet totally lovable. Their stories are just the perfect length with lots of excitement, many hurdles and an overabundance of love and extremely emotional.
In this episode, we read the tale of Jace and Holly. The emotional turmoil this pair have endured over the past decade, thanks to one extremely unrelenting and bitter individual, will make you weep, but their perseverance to continue, even though at times it seems impossible, is endearing. When Fate steps in, the walls that have been erected over the years slowly start to crumble. Will they be able to overcome their past hurts and let love take over, or will they let the one person that doesn't want them together win?
Beautifully written and definitely worth the read.

In this world where shifters are in the open and everyone knows they have fated mates, the animal side has intuition but it’s the human side that runs the show and sometimes humans screw up. 10 years ago Jace screwed up with his mate and ran away to join the marines. Holly has made a life for herself. She has a good job, her family, and some wonderful friends, but now Jace is back and her life has been turned upside down. So many things make this a great read. The small town community gives us a rich set of supporting characters. All of the feels come into play, especially guilt and regret. But overall there is a hopefulness.

Holly is still upset with the way she was treated years ago by someone whom she thought she could count on but to be honest with herself she has never really gotten over him and wishes things could be different . Jace knows he must prove himself and he will do whatever he needs to in order to keep her this time !! Get ready to have your emotions pulled with this one . One minute you want to step in and hit someone and at others you just wanna hug them . This is well written and recommended to all !!

He is determined to get out of his wheelchair for good and claim the only woman he has ever loved, his mate. Holly loves her job and helping plan her best friends wedding, except that she has to deal with Jace and the pain he represents. They had loved each other once, but that was not enough and Jace has regretted the way he behaved ever since. They are both stubborn and will not admit that beneath all the pain they still care for each other. This will pull on your heartstrings, make you want to slap many of the characters, and give you an emotional roller coaster ride! Loved it! I received this ARC from Bad Boy Updates.

This is a very well-written book 2 in the Huckleberry Valley Shifters Series that has very strong main Characters and a great second chance at love romance story. These characters are exciting, have chemistry, and are well-crafted. I cannot wait to read more in this series. A must read from a good Author and is a good addition to any library. There are some really good twists and turns in this book with a bear shifter longing for his mate that he hurt and left. Can he convince her to be his mate after being his dirty secret and leaving her?

I'm not sure if I've read this author before, but I really enjoyed this story. I really liked both Jace and Holly. I kind of wished we'd known what happened between them sooner. Drawing it out really got on my nerves. The only other thing I didn't really care for was that these shifters had regular human health problems. Most shifter books I've read, the shifters don't. Beyond that, I did like it and highly recommend. Can't wait to read more from this author and series.

This is a wonderful story! I couldn’t put it down. I couldn’t wait to see what next between Holly and Jace. Would she forgive him or not? They dated secretly in high school before he destroyed her one night. Years later they are thrown together to help their friends with wedding plans. Holly doesn’t want anything to do with him. Jace is hoping for a second chance to make things right. He knows that she is his mate and hopes that she can forgive him.

I loved this story.
Jace is a great character. Full of determination and a will to be himself. After a traumatic event he is doing everything he can to become himself again.
Holly had her heart broken by Jace a long time ago, she cannot let him back in.
Jace knows Holly is his mate but will she ever forgive him.
I love the interplay between the leads. their humor and passion flows from the page.
I was gripped from the first chapter and cant wait for more stories in this world.
I highly recommend this book.

Jace knows Holly is his mate but will she ever forgive him.
I love the interplay between the leads. their humor and passion flows from the page.
I was gripped from the first chapter and cant wait for more stories in this world.
I highly recommend this book.

Light, easy read
Its a pretty typical 2nd chance shifter romance. A little cliched, but fun and sweet. There were a couple of points that I really enjoyed, such as Jace struggling to be independent, it's and there were points I really didn't enjoy, such as Holly is a physical therapist. Jace is recovering with physical therapy, yet Holly, with her training and experience constantly has super low expectations of Jace and will not challenge him. Its inconsistent. But over all, a fairly enjoyable read.

This is book 2 and characters from the previous book flow into this one. I love that in a story.
Jace made a mistake ran off to the Marines and left behind his mate. Holly has moved on (or has she). Can jace convince her to give him a second chance? I loved the story and characters. They pull you right into the book.

Great addition to the Sci-Fi/Paranormal Romance genre!
The writing draws you in and keeps you involved throughout the whole story, I found myself in love with not only the characters but also the world she created.
The attitudes toward the events that are happening make the story even richer and the characters more relatable.

I received an ARC from the author thru Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving my review. Jace and Holly have a history together. He had been away serving as a Marine. Then he becomes injured they are back in each others orbit. He is going to try toThis is their second chance for a future together. Jace will have to earn his mate back. I thought the characters were well written with great chemistry.
