Drixonian Warrior #7

The Alien's Equal

Rate this book
He’s done waiting… and is ready to claim his mate.

Justine: Alien planet life isn’t so bad. I’ve taken a vow of celibacy so the perfect male specimens walking around with their bulging muscles and other…bulges…don’t do it for me. I’m content to live my life and avoid the one male with the soft voice and all-knowing eyes who has me rethinking that vow.

But our peaceful existence is threatened by enemies who want to use my human friends and I as nothing but breeders. I spent too long without control of my life to sit back on the sidelines during an alien war where my friends and I are the spoils. I’m slapping on warpaint and suiting up alongside my alien saviors. No one controls my destiny but me.

Nero: Justine is mine—I knew it the moment I met her. But she requires patience and a gentle touch. I can’t rush this, or I’ll never win her over. But as war looms, I realize I might have waited too long. My role is crucial to ensuring the Drixonian’s complete freedom from the exploitative Uldani, and it’s a mission I might not return from.

Even worse news? Justine insists on fighting at my side. What she doesn’t know is that my patience has come to an end. By the time I’m through, she’ll beg me to claim her.

The Alien’s Equal is a full-length Sci-Fi Romance novel featuring a stubborn heroine with a fighter’s determination and an obsessed alien who’s losing his patience waiting for the mate of his dreams.

A good conclusion to this series. I definitely want to read the spin-off, Outcasts of Corin, at some point.

Niro and Justine's relationship was once again insta-lovey but it didn't bother me so much here because there was a strong plotline outside of the romance so there was more than enough content to keep this book interesting.

I also liked both of these characters more than the previous few pairings in the series. Justine is a trauma and abuse survivor determined not to let it define her. She values freedom and independence. Niro is a confident tech nerd who knows he wants Justine but won't ever push her past her boundaries or tie her down.

This is the kind of "alpha" I can be okay with--his strength comes from calm confidence, not from some insecure need to possess and dominate a woman (which, can we all just admit it, is some weak-ass bitch behavior. Get tf outta here with those "alpha males" 🤢).

I re-read this for my group's July 2025 LBR:
Midnight's Embrace

What an absolute and awesome closing to this series. I tried to savor this one, but nope. I was weak. (Giggles)

I loved that Justine & Nero closed this one out for us. I loved their story in the midst of the madness and all of the all consuming and intense happenings here, that will bring about the next chapters for my blue Drixonian Males.

That Climax was superb!!!

This was just a great read. An awesome series.

I can't wait to see what the Spin Off will bring. I am eager for that first book, since it will be

I would highly recommend this series. It's addicting, It's awesome. It's THE BEST Alien Sci-Fi I've ever read. It kept me here and engaged for the entire series. This is an absolute first for me, when it comes to this genre.. No other author has ever managed to do what Ms. Maven has clearly done, when it comes to me and Sci-fi reads.

Who knew I’d love me dirty-talking pierced blue guys with an extra appendage to their appendage. I’ve inhaled this series over the last few months and with bonking, battles and bloodshed, the last in the Drixonian Warriors sends the series out nicely.

description He kissed me like the world was ending.
Because...maybe it was.”

There’s never dull moment for Nero, Justine and their extended family as they head off to kick some alien bad-guy butt in their quest for a peaceful life rebuilding what they lost, raising all the babies they’re about to pop out. So if this sounds like your jam, you’ll not go far wrong here, and with some serious hints given in the last couple of books as to what Ella Maven may be planning, I’m totally here for any spin-offs.

I read this because I was caught up in the over-arching storyline and wanted to know how it ended. There was so much on the line. Justine has always been the stand-offish one of the girls, keeping everyone at arm's length. Nero is a genius and methodical. He knows Justine is his mate. They both feel the pull to each other, but Justine is skittish and seems uninterested in a mate. We find out that her actions come because she's a control freak due to her unstable upbringing. When she decides to accompany Nero on a suicide mission that must be completed if the Drixonians have any chance of winning against the Uldani so that she feels in control of her future, Nero knows the time has come to take the gloves off and show Justine they were meant for each other.

I loved how Nero was so calm and collected, but also very intense. He never pushed Justine more than she could handle and he showed her he was steadfast and would always be there to help her soar not hold her down. The story was angst and tension filled as Justine and Nero have to sneak into the heart of the Uldani compound to carry out a mission to start and hopefully bring a quick ending to the war.

It was entertaining. I enjoyed seeing how everything played out. I thought Justine and Nero were such a good couple together and definitely made for eachother. I will say I now want to see what happened to Rexor, the stolen brother, and I still want to read more about the Kaluma. So we'll see.

Good story!

The following ratings are out of 5:
Romance: 💚💜💙🩷
Story/Plot: 📕📗📙📔
Heat/Steam: 🔥🔥🔥
World building: 🌏🌍🌎🌏
Character development: 😒🤩😀🙂
Narrator(s): 🎙🎙🎙🎙🎙
Narration type: Dual Narration

The heroine: Justine - before she was abducted from earth by alien, she had been hurt and used by men, and she didn’t want any more of that. After being freed by the Drixonian warriors, she was still of that same mind despite the fact that all the other women had since fallen in love and had been treated like queens by their Drixonian mates.

The Hero: Nero - he knew from the very beginning that Justine was his mate, but she was standoffish and didn’t like to be touched even by the other females. While all his friends had gotten mates, he struggled to even get near the female he knows is his. He is the head of security for the clavasse and he is a wizard with technology. He put up cameras and security all around their living area that he monitors from his hut.

The Story: Justine is a bit more apt to like Nero after he helps her set up an automatic feeder for a little animal that she had been feeding nightly with one of the little human Drixonian hybrid kids. When Justine hears the council mention that Nero will be going on a mission to infiltrate the Uldani base and sabotage their ability to use their long-range weapons during the upcoming war between the drix and the Uldani.

The story about sneaking onto the Uldani base was good, it was also very suspenseful. I loved the fact that though Justine was denying the fact that she wanted to be mates with Nero, as soon as she heard he was going on a dangerous mission alone, she demanded that she would go with him and she wanted to make sure she had his back.

This audiobook was told in multiple perspectives, done in dual narration and narrated by Jeffrey Kafer and Heather Costa. Heather is a good narrator; she is very expressive and does a great job. The only thing I don’t like about her is that she sounds somewhat older than the character should be. Jeffrey Kafer has a deep voice which works well for the alien romance trope.

I recently re-listened to books 1-4 and then went on to listen to the remainder of this series. All of the audiobooks are conveniently available on hoopla, yay. 🎉 IMO, the entire series was pretty good… with hunky blue alien virgins. 🤤🤤 It really isn’t the most unique concept (*cough*IPB*cough*) but it was done in a way that was different enough to feel new and interesting.

I think this series overall did a good job of world building - the overarching series plot line was also well executed. I especially liked that the author actually did wrap up the major issues introduced during this series - while still leaving openings for spin-offs.

Also, one thing I really appreciated in this series as opposed to the IPB world - Ella Maven doesn’t use rape to create a backstory.

The entire series is safe.

Epic conclusion to the series! Nero was awesome with his tech genius/Bruce Willis/James Bond action scene ways, and I liked how Justine was independent and stubborn but not unreasonable.

I wished we could have had more time for the romance, but a lot had to happen in this book. It was suspenseful and exciting, and I stay up until 2am to finish it because I could not put it down!

Sad this series is over, but I might just hop on over to the spin-off to see what happened to Rexor... 🧐

A beautiful conclusion

“Come on and fly, little bird,” I murmured, staring into her warm brown eyes. “Take me with you.”

Sigh...I was not expecting to love Nero this much but he was such an amazing mix of badass warrior and super tech genius. And while those things are awesome his absolute best traits were his calm and emotionally open personality.
The way he was able to love Justine by feeding her confidence in herself was just beautiful.

Getting to see Justine really shine on her own (using her brains and her strength) made me appreciate the relationship between her and Nero more. She didn’t need to rely on him, but she wanted to and I think that’s what we’re all looking for in life.

I’m sad to see this series end but I feel happy with the conclusion and where our core group of characters ended up. The final showdown was amazing and tied up loose ends (while giving great info for where the author is going next!)

This is the last book in the Drixonian Warriors series. I want to say it is my least favorite in regards to the couple. I liked Nero and Jasmine but they didn't speak to me in the way that the other couples did in the series.

What I did really like in this book is how the Drixonian's defeated the Uldani and discovered they could make their way back to their home planet. Plus we got to see the birth of Daz and Frankie's baby (the first couple in the series).

I liked the way the ending brought them peace and brought them home to Corin. I would love to see more of this group because overall I really did enjoy all of their stories.

Now I am on to the spin-off of this series, Daz and Sax's brother Rexor or Rex, the brother they thought died but was actually experimented on and sold as a slave to another planet of cruel aliens. So, the next 4 books or so are about Drixonian's who aren't quite the same as their brethren who remained on Torin.

This entire review has been hidden because of spoilers.

Sweet ending with some action that tied up some dangling threads. Not my fave but I liked it. Curious for the spin-off. Glad I read the series.

I loved this series and I loved this last book.

Looking forward to branching out and finding the missing Drixonian who were sold.

Great couple. Our Drix was so sweet with our reluctant heroine. We have war adventure love.

A very rewarding end to this series. Nero is an intellectual, which I love. Justine is jaded but soft inside, and Nero is the perfect guy to patiently break through her tough barriers. I loved the emotional growth and relationship journey between Justine and Nero. I will definitely be reading the spin-off series of this universe, I love them!

This was a wonderful, adventurous ending to the series, deserved victory and an interesting, perfectly fitting pair. It was a cool alien ride with impressive, strong and sensitive Drixonians and versatile strong, smart women.
And I'm so happy and excited to see what we can expect with or at the Stolen Warriors ... let us read

Normally I get tired of a world in a series like this and can only read the first couple before it gets redundant and boring - while there were still the standard themes and some slight redundancy, this series was good enough, the characters were broad enough, and the world was entertaining enough to keep me engaged for the full 7 books. Thoroughly enjoyed it as a guilty pleasure series

This was my favorite in the series. I related to Justine's trauma so much, down to not knowing how to interact with people. And Niro, the epitome of everything perfect (jokes, I know perfection doesn't exist) but still, if I find someone half as attentive as he was to Justine and what she needed to feel safe, I think I'd live a content life.

I went into this one with a chip on my shoulder. I didn't want geeky techno-alien Nero for the headstrong, distanced-from-pain Justine. I wanted one of the invisible aliens for her - the one who started with a 'B'. ((I'm bad with names. Whatevs.)) So I wasn't happy about this. No computerhead was going to look up long enough to adequately handle Justine's emo, IMHO. I went into this with a one star mentality.

But I was delightedly surprised. Maven made Nero 'human' enough that he was likeable. It was all wrong for his character, but I loved him, just the same. He was fantastic. But it wasn't *right*. He didn't act like a techno-geek, so I had a hard time with it, all the same.

Justine was... okay. She's just another of the same: human women who feel like the had it so damn bad, when they don't know what *REALLY* bad is. Her uncle -looked- at her. That's... not reason enough to have emotional trauma to her extent. And she had a bad relationship with Bradley. ((Who ever had a GOOD relationship with a BRAD-ley, hello?)) I just didn't follow her angst.

I also wasn't sold her her being a computer graphics person who could sketch aliens and planet's surfaces that she'd never seen and capture them *exactly* based on someone's description. Have you ever seen a police rendering of a criminal? Yeeeeeah, no.

This is the book where the battle takes place. And of course Nero and Justine are the two who have to go in and disable the ENTIRE bad guy civilization, in order to open the gates for the Drix and others to come in and fight. And of course it's action-adventure, all the way. This time, the sex was kept to a dull roar (thank heavens)... and that was nicer, too. There was a lot less swearing in this one, as well.

But I still feel like Nero wasn't who Nero is. And Justine was... meh. Nothing about these women stand out, for me. Naomi, a little... because she's tiny and happy, but... mostly they're all the same. Which is kind of disappointing.

But I made it thru the series. Yay!!

I have been with this series from the beginning when I discovered a new to me author Ella Maven. I have had many adventures with the Drixonian warriors and the human females that were stranded with them, which kinda makes me sad that in this book I say goodbye to those misunderstood, growly, possessive, giant blue aliens.

Nero and Justine, the final two. The final battle, the final book. Oh Nero...I just love a techie. The man (alien) behind the screens, the watcher over all. And Justine, the closed off female with so many walls to break down, an alien would need many sledgehammers to get through them. But, Nero has bided his time...and it's time to claim his mate!

This story had all my favorite characters, suspense, revenge, sweet bloody revenge, and nail biting action. It wasn't as steamy as some of the other books, though with Nero and Justine I get why. The final battle was all that I had hoped for and I totally enjoyed the ride, the falls, the breath holding moments, and the big blue swoon factor called Nero.

I am not going to spoil anything but the final battle is here and I enjoyed my journey to get here. These guys don't have to spank their females into submission, they just devote themselves to their woman (and all the piercings don't hurt). If you are looking for a sexy, suspenseful, alien series, with a motto of "She is All", this is your series. I look forward to the next arc where they go in search of their brothers. Definitely recommend this book/series to all my sci-fi alien loving readers out there.

If you love big, blue, horned, bad-ass alpha aliens who love their eternal mates then this series is for you. Think Ice Planet Barbarians on steroids. From Book 1: "Nothing in my life had prepared me for extraterrestrial motorcycle clubs."
I loved this series and easily got my sister hooked on it. I like that we don't have to wait a year between the release of a new story from Ella Maven like from some big named authors.
The big action scene in this story is amazing. It made me think of Bruce Willis in Die Hard. There were surprising twists. The ending was perfect.
The setting for these stories is the planet Corin. The Drixonian Warriors are at war with the Uldani people. The Uldani have been lying to and deceiving the long living Drixonians for over a century. Corin is not the native planet of the Drixonians and they are trapped there. Life is miserable and their species faces extinction until they rescue a ship of human women stolen by another race of beings.
This is the final book in this series but not the last book with the Drixonian Warriors. There are 7 books in this series with 2 novellas available through the author's website or newsletter. Though they can stand alone I highly recommend reading them in order of publication. I would love to see this book series turned into a one season TV series.
My only gripe about these books is the typos and grammar mistakes that the editor regularly misses. In this book I found 23 of them.

5 fabulous 🌟's for Justine and Nero

Ahh the glorious end of an era and the dawning of a new saga! That's how I see this last Drixonian warriors book. This book started with all the anxiety of what it just be like waiting for the first shot to be fired in a battle for all. Nero is the tech genius and Justine is not only an artist but her ability with computers borders on genius as well. Theses two team up on the most important mission of the series taking down the Uldani communications center. But not before Hero inform Justine that he's known from day one that she was ment to be his, his beloved mate. Justine has his behind her intelligence and protected her heart out of necessity. Her childhood was a nightmare and she needs to an able to control circumstances around her. She's not sure she can be what Nero wants and needs even though she was to an his! This is sooooo good. It has everything romance, passion, action and the closure of one saga while teasingly cracking the door open to an excitingly new adventure. Fantastic series and although I'm sad this one has co e to an end in at the edge of my seat waiting for the new series to begin. I also believe that while we will make new friends we'll see old ones in the future as well. Highly recommend 💖💖💖💖💖💖💖
