Nick Eliopulos was born and raised in Jacksonville, Florida, where he grew up on a steady diet of super-hero comics and “non-fiction” books about alien abductions, psychic phenomena, and Sasquatch. He was fortunate to have parents and teachers who encouraged his off-beat reading habits, which ultimately led him to pursue a degree in cultural studies at the University of Florida.
Shortly after graduating, Nick moved to New York to work in publishing. In the course of his thirteen-year career as a children’s book editor, he had the opportunity to write for a number of licensed properties, from Thomas the Tank Engine to DC Super Friends and Scholastic’s New York Times bestselling multiplatform series Spirit Animals. His original comics work has appeared in anthologies Stuck in the Middle and First Kiss (Then Tell).
Nick’s debut novel, The Adventurers Guild, will be published by Hyperion in October 2017. Co-authored with his best friend Zack Loran Clark, the book is heavily inspired by the duo’s collaborative storytelling experiences with tabletop role-playing games; they’ve been in the same weekly gaming group for nearly a decade.
Nick lives in Brooklyn with his husband, a fellow editor, author, and Southern transplant. He’s currently employed as a narrative designer for an indie video game studio. He still reads super-hero comics and harbors an ever-dwindling hope that Sasquatch might be out there.
Good story but what really confused me was that, despite the title, there were no Ghast in this book. The title makes zero since. Why name a book, "Ghast in the Machine", if there are no actual Ghast in the book? They were going in and out of the Nether a lot, but only at the beginning of the book did the author really write about them being in the nether. And that wasn't even about Ghast. It was about Wither Skeletons. And anyways, you can't name a book about something and only have the first chapter talk about it. That doesn't make any since. This book was more about Jodi spying on her friends and exploring the Overworld, not fighting Ghast in the nether. I kinda feel like the author, no offense, named the book, and then kinda forgot about what he was supposed to write about, and instead made a totally different story. But if you are looking for a book that's about Ghast (for some reason), don't get this one!

Kiddos love these as bedtime books. Kind characters that help solve problems together. Cute pictures and lots of good Minecraft adventuring throughout.
This book was decent and fun and the surprise of that the evoker king is an artificial intelligence and that the character we thought was the evoker king (the strange villager with glasses from book 2 and 3) was really someone from there school trying to help them and stay under the radar.
In the end I'd say this is a good book like the rest. I hope you fellow readers liked it too.

Kind of disappointed with the reveal of the Evoker King.... I feel like they took the "easy" PC route. Hopefully in the next two it gets a bit more dramatic and risky. Took us a bit to get through this one.
👾I'm a bit behind in reviewing the Woodsword series for my grid posts (2 books in fact) but hoping to remedy this by bringing the chronicles up to date with Edward's review and epic picture creations to my blog posts.
👾Books 4 sees the gang of 5 friends back into the game to solve who is changing the game for the worse and messing with the rules of Minecraft.
👾The friends are still working their magic in survival mode and trying to work out who is behind the Evoker King's meddling and where the mysterious 6th headset is?
👾Edward's favourite character is Po because "he adds the laughs and comedy with his funny skins and little jokes and he is showing that there are representing children with all kinds of abilities and disabilities"
👾We are still trying to decide what it could be thats ruining the game, where the librarian comes into it and whether we can trust Theo, so its sparking lots of debate at bedtime! 😴
👾And for anyone who is not sure what a Ghast is, its the thing in picture 1 (I think it looks like a land octopus?!)
