Welcome to Enchanted Enclave, where coffee, chaos and cauldrons are a way of life.
Eliza is looking forward to things getting back to normal on her return from the paranormal world, but she doesn't expect "normal" to include another dead body showing up in the coffee shop.
When Aunt Lucy is revealed to be the prime suspect, Eliza, Kaillie and Leanne expect her to throw a fit, but instead she seemingly refuses to do anything to clear her name. Eliza and her cousins set out to do it for her, but that's not the only strange occurrence in Enchanted Enclave.
As she gets closer to solving the case, Eliza finds herself in more danger than she's ever experienced. Will she be able to clear her aunt's name and find out what's going on in town before she becomes the killer's next victim?
Deja Brew is the fifth book in this fun new witch cozy mystery series from Samantha Silver
Samantha Silver lives in British Columbia, Canada, along with her husband and seventeen-year-old dog named Terra.
When she's not writing cozy mysteries, Samantha loves travelling (she's most recently been to Egypt, Jordan and Florida) skiing, eating Dairy Queen, and complaining about how hard running is.
So much going on here! When a guy comes running in yelling at Aunt Lucy about outting his cheating habits, you know it's gonna end up with a murder... so it is totally not surprising when the girls go in to work the next morning and find him lying dead on their coffee shop floor. So many questions follow! It's funny, I figured that Lucy was just eccentric. But you get to see she has a very harsh exterior sometimes. To the point where she was almost downright mean and definitely rude a few times this book. Kaillie has done a 180 personality wise also, except the whining. She whines a bit less, but still finds something to whine about. I just don't like her. There were a few other surprises in the book, including who-dun-it, that I didn't see coming and it was written to always keep me on my toes. I was glad to see Albert again and not surprised at all that Eliza was the one the family voted on to speak to the paranormal council. By the end of the book, when everything was explained, I could see why so many personalities had been different. I felt sad for who killed Ulrich but understood exactly why it was done. It ends up being a somewhat bittersweet ending for sure, but such a good read. I love how the story just flows so well and though you are going through many different things - murder solving, working, paranormal inquisitions, relationship woes, etc - it all works out to just life. I am sad about one thing though... I now have to wait for a month in order to find out what happens next!
It appears that Silver has finally got a proof reader who knows their job.. much better when you aren't finding error upon error.
The unlikely adventures of Eliza continue with Aunt Lucy being confronted by Ulrich in the coffee shop. According to him Lucy's to blame for his wife Carly leaving him in the lurch with their 2 year old son after she told Carly she'd seen him with another woman.
Ulrich doesn't seem to realise that if he hadn't been cheating he couldn't have been caught. He threatens Lucy "you're a dead woman" in front of a full café and she stands her ground and tells him that if he tries anything she will destroy him. When his body is found in the café the gossip mill is running hot with rumours about Lucy.. no one seems to recall that he threatened her first or that he was a lying, cheating, scumbag.
The police's prime suspect Aunt Lucy blithely ignores the gossip and appears reluctant to do anything to help herself, and Ross refuses to take her off the list creating tension between himself and Eliza. So Eliza, Kaillie and Leanne are determined to crack the case and protect Aunt Lucy before she's put away for a crime she didn't commit.
Meanwhile they have been contacted by Albert Nuvola, from Palm Rings, who has put their case to be allowed free access to the paranormal world, and Eliza is nominated to go to Bruxspells to answer to the council. But Lucy's odd behaviour since the murder could well create bigger problems, especially when Eliza stumbles across the truth.
This is an entertaining supernatural cozy mystery series. A great cast of characters and a fun and entertaining storyline. A small town off the coast of Oregon. A small island with a small tourist town where a family of witches live. The rest of the town is human. The family had one of their ancestors banned from the paranormal world a couple centuries back. One of the family members had moved away with her mother who is a witch and her father who is human and six six months old her mother died so her father moved away and raised her by himself. Many years later her father died and one of her aunts went to find her and bring her back to the small island of enchanted enclave. She seem to find out she is actually a witch as well and begins learning her magic. She also seems to have a knack of solving mysteries. Follow along as her and her cousins poke around and find out who done it’s and other mysteries. There are three young women who are cousins to aunt and an uncle. And a whole town full of some normal people and if you wacky people. Check it out.

Deja Brew is book 5 of Enchanted Enclave Mysteries
This was a really complicated mystery, but really sad too. As usual, Aunt Lucy gets blamed for the murder of an angry man who cheats on his wife and was suspected of cheating and murdering his first wife. I will save pointing out the guilty party so you can enjoy reading the book. Eliza figured it out on her return from the paranormal world. Best of all, she made up with Ross.
Best of the first 5. 1. Didn’t retell the background so much, but did make it part of the story
1. Didn’t retell the background so much, but did make it part of the story. 2. More detective work, better than the bumblers before. 3. Didn’t backup so much. 4. People finally seemed real.
Things started off with a bang, that and looking into all the mysteries! Lots of angles and lots of great characters. Enjoyable read on the next mystery of Samantha Silver!
I liked this story. I really like Eliza and the other characters. The plot kept me interested which was good and a surprise. Looking forward to reading the next installment.
