This little romance seemed so promising, with a strong female protagonist and a beautiful setting. The beginning of the plot was clever, with the protagonists having competing jobs at the opposite sides of town. I liked that the reader was privy to both their points of view, and that the secondary characters were well-drawn. My first disappointment was that the book hadn’t been well edited and had several errors. My big disappointment was the ending which was so abrupt, it was as if the writer had run out of words or time or both, and just wanted to be done with it. Still, there’s lots to like, and I’d love to read a revised, well-edited version.

Cute story

This was a cute story but towards the end of the story, it felt rushed. Overall, it was a good read.

Christmas at Last Chance Lodge
By: C.E. Graham
Narrated by: Sarah Jane Bookman

This heartwarming story brings us back to what is truly important. Brigette has been sent to Lovely Lucy Lodge to help update it before the Christmas Festival. Good at her job, she works to keep the small town feel and bring it to the current century! On the other side of town, a new hotel chain is emerging. Bryce is doing his best to bring the business there, but it's not as easy as he thought it was going to be. But the forces at work are not necessarily working to keep both hotels going, but match up Bryce and Brigette! These two begin as oil and water. Now the time has come and jobs on the line, decisions have to be made. Will Brigette finally give in and fall for Bryce? This is a fun listen. I love the small town feel, the green shag rug and the dinners all together. The contrast of the hotels proves just what it takes to keep the feel of the town, and the characters in line make us not only smile but fall in love with it's charm. Brigette is a tough cookie. Good at her job, she is focused, so much that she almost lets her feelings for her job get in the way of a budding relationship. Bryce is faltering at his position, but his heart is in the right place. And who wouldn't go to Snow dive? Fun, laughter, Christmas cheer, horse and carriage rides and love. This is like a Hallmark movie in my ears!

Narrated by the talents of Sarah Jane Bookman, we are treated to a town full of amazing characters. From the busy body, to the mayor, to Brigette and Bryce, it's all there, giving us the feel of community and love. A pleasure to listen to.

“Lionel, keep filming, but close your eyes,” Lillian shouted down at him.

Taking off their robes, they counted down. “Three, two, one, Geronimo!”Both landed deep in the snowbank. Only the outline of the bodies at the point of impact remained. Bridgette popped up first. “That was so awesome, but I’m freezing. Philmore said he climbed back up the balcony to get in.”

“I’m cold,” Lillian complained. They headed to the balcony, but they couldn’t get up. “Philmore is a lot taller than us. Is the back door to the lodge open? We can pop in there and then into your apartment if it’s unlocked.”

“Where did Lionel go?”

“He had to get to work.”

This short section explains the book perfectly. The writing makes zero sense. So much of it is jump, jump, jump with no details about how the person got from A to B. In one sentence they are in their apartment on the phone and the next sentence they are in the coffee shop ordering hot chocolate.

In the example above, Lionel was told to keep filming and close his eyes and four sentences later he's completely gone and had to "get to work"?!?! That quick? No bye, no here's your phone, no nothing?!?!

That was the final straw. DNF'd at 55%.

A waste of brain cells

Literally one of the dumbest books I’ve ever read, sadly. The end was extremely rushed and didn’t even make sense..who proposes after they’ve only had a couple of dates and still barely know each other? The story as a whole didn’t have much of a plot, and the whole part about Bryce’s tragic past felt as If it was just thrown in there for some added value (which it did not lend, might I add). Also, there were quite a lot of grammatical errors throughout the book that should have been caught and corrected by the publishers and for whatever reason, were not. It was a very quick read but definitely not one to recommend.

Sweet romance

Bridgette has a new job as the hotel manager for a lodge in New Hampshire, since she has lived in Atlanta the move to New Hampshire before Thanksgiving is a massive change. The lodge has not been updated and needs a little bit of everything. Quickly Bridgette gets to work. Bryce has been hired to run a new hotel that is Bridgette’s competition. Things between the two do not begin well but are lively. Events during the Christmas holidays keep the two meeting and become interesting. Love can make things happen.

It was a sweet story and at first I was pulled in by the characters. About the middle of the book, I found that it wasn't holding my interest...romance seemed to come on too fast and then the ending...sort of thrown together and abrupt. I didn't much care for the writing. I read it on my Kindle. Won't be looking to read anything more by this author.

Lucky Lucy Lodge

When Bridgett came to manage the failing lodge, she began right away to bring it up to date. She didn't want the new hotel in town, run be Bryce, to run them out of business.
