Book V of the Winter Fire romantasy series. This was my favorite book of the series so far. Dubay sneaks a lot of science into her books without making it distracting, and her descriptions of how time works are interesting and easy to understand. I love that Jenna is super smart and fights for her agency, however sketchy her decisions are sometimes. And we finally find out how everything and everyone is tied together and why, and it's so neatly and experty written. The amazing thing is that the littlest unexplained gesture in the earlier books all the way back to book I is finally explained in this one, so we know Dubay has known where this was going all along, which really builds trust in her storytelling. No question ever goes unexplained or unanswered. There is a reason for everything and it is revealed at a perfect and masterful pace. We also get a lot of Jenna and Loki time in this one which is personally satisfying to me. The writing has a quality and polish that is a bit rare for an indy author, so I feel like my reading time is well spent!
