Interesting short story on tradition and the identity struggles that hyphenated Americans face

Not as strong as Wang's other work, but thought-provoking all the same

I love the way Weike Wang writes her characters, each story offers a different perspective and representation of particular cultural backgrounds. Each piece of her work that I've read so far has managed to explore a topic that I've thought about before? The Trip follows a married couple on their first trip to China, navigating differences in culture and language. At what point does it become too exhausting to constantly have to serve as a translator when introducing someone to your culture, especially when you yourself have always lived between two cultures? This is part of the question that this short story seeks to answer.
