MICHAEL: He is the king and Bigelow Bay hospital is his domain. A lifetime of single minded focus and self disclipine ensured that his life was exactly the way he'd always planned... Until a tragedy disrupts his well ordered life. SONNIE: Her life is out of control, a single moment has changed everything. A new home, new school, new life with new challenges. When you life has become chaos you hang onto even a single shred of control all the harder. MEL: Offering guidence to those who need it most while battling the darkness that still lives within her - it's a delicate balance between controlling her past and letting her past control her. AS three lives collide, sometimes the only thing to hope for is some order in the chaos, but sometimes the best outcome doesn't come from KEEPING CONTROL.
For someone who lives in routine and control, Michael is now trying to find his new normal being the guardian of his niece Sonnie and dealing with the death of his sister. Poor Sonnie, her mom is gone, a new school, new friends and bullies. Melissa is the school counselor and is drawn to Sonnie. Melissa harbors her own issues. As Mel and Michael are put into each other's orbit the path to giving control expands as the all find that sharing their truths make it all manageable and safe. This is a story of acceptance and managing internal anxiety. This story made me chuckle, gasp and brought me to tears while cheering this family unit on.
A great read with characters that are easy to relate to and well developed and easy to get to know. The story pulls you in and you keep turning the pages to find out what happens next. A wonderful small town romance you'll love reading.
